Wells Fargo Bank Broadbeck Dr, Newbury Park

Staff is friendly but are always understaffed. I sit here in line, yet again, with only one register open, wondering why I still bank with Wells.

The people at the bank were very nice but when I tried to call to ask a question and COULD NOT get someone on the line at my local branch. I am BEYOND irritated that I cant call the local bank in my town and talk to a human! I want to change banks. I am not happy and have just wasted a ton of time getting sent in automated circles. Even Wells Fargo customer service told me that I cannot speak to a human in my branch and just need to leave work to drive there! What!?! Ludicrous!

I'm a Manager for a local business in the area, I've been going to this bank for 4 days and i noticed that I am never greeted but everyone else that comes in is offered and greeted with a warm welcome. Hmmmmm....

Norman and Oriane Rousseau were one more couple pushed by a huge, greedy bank to the brink of homelessness. On Sunday, desperate and with nowhere to go, Norman Rousseau shot himself. The quick version of this terrible story is that Norman and Oriane Rousseau of Newbury Park, California were scammed into a predatory mortgage. But they made their payments anyway, always paying with a cashier’s check in person at the same branch. Then one day the bank misapplied their payment and said they still owed the money. This started a long, nasty process that led to the bank evicting the Rousseaus from their home. Here’s the shocker: right at the start the Rousseaus came up with proof that the bank had received the payment and had cashed the check. But the bank continued to claim it had missed the payment, gave the Rousseaus the runaround, started applying fees, and used it as an excuse to foreclose on the house anyway. The Rousseaus fought back, the bank dragged it out for so long and pulled so many tricks, getting its way every step of the process, until this last Sunday Norman Rousseau finally gave up and shot himself in despair – two days before the scheduled eviction, Tuesday, May 15. (The Rousseau’s lawyer just said he was able to win a 2-week delay.)

I visited this local branch to do an escrow wire transfer and it was a terrible experience. I called this branch at 9am on the dot this morning right when they opened to ask what’s the cutoff time for sending a wire transfer today. Sean said I just had to initiate the transfer no later than 2:30pm to have it GUARANTEED to go out today. I personally scheduled a 1pm meeting with him on the phone on that same call. I showed up 10 minutes early, initiated the transfer no later than 1:15pm and was given confirmation paperwork from Sean and left the branch. I got a call from the escrow company at 3:43pm saying the wire transfer had not gone through yet. I thought that was super odd so I called Sean at this branch and he said he needed 5 minutes to look into and call me back. HE DID NOT CALL ME BACK. I finally called at about 4:45pm right before they closed and talked to Phil. He said Sean was not available. I begged him to look into why my wire transfer didn’t go through. After being on hold for several minutes Phil got back on and just said it will go out on Monday. This is completely unacceptable! There is a very specific reason people choose to wire transfer large amounts of money—because it needs go out FAST! We now risk losing this home due to complete negligence. We’ve already moved both of our business accounts over to a competitor bank and plan do now move our last remaining personal accounts if or when we settle on this home purchase. If you decide to do an escrow wire transfer DO NOT do it through Wells Fargo, and certainly not through this branch.

Love the staff here. Very charming people who always go out of their way to make customers happy. Even the managers are awesome. Love going there. They always solve anything that I may need help with.
