TruStone Financial Credit Union Reviews

Highly recommend the team at TruStone Golden Valley. Clean, easy parking, and convenient location. This location does get busy, so plan to spend about 30 minutes here (not ideal for every schedule, but expectations are important!). Lobby is comfortable, warm, and inviting. When I approached the counter needing assistance with a line of credit, I was immediately routed to the available person. Nate (I believe..forgive me my friend) was incredibly helpful, professional, nice, and relatable. Although I admittedly didn't plan for this to take 30 minutes, I was laughing and having a great time while I was there. Looking forward to banking more and more with TruStone.
Thank you so much for your kind words and review, Dan! We're so glad to hear that Nate was helpful in your visit. We look forward to seeing you again soon!

Assistant Manager Malcom at this location is a phenomenal human being and an incredible manager! I had problems with my check from another location and he took care of it! Thanks again for being professional.

Initially, they pitched themselves as this incredibly ethical bank and claimed not to be like other banks. Guess what? They're no better than any other bank that pounds you with fees when you're having financial trouble. Don't be fooled by their claims that they're "better.". Charging $30 on a $2 overdraw? For shame! If you live near one of their locations, it may be worth it, but I'm personally just going to switch back to a larger bank that doesn't pretend to be "above all others" while offering nothing but financial punishment to those experiencing financial difficulties. Since their merger, additionally, waits for phone customer service are suuuper long. It literally takes me less time to drive to another side of the city to go to the bank in person than it does to wait on the phone. Ridiculous.

Eric (sp?) was the most helpful person I've had the pleasure of interacting with at the branch. He went above and beyond helping me making a crypto purchase on my CC. If you ever have any issues he's the go to guy, thanks Eric
Thank you so much for your kind words and review, Travis! We are so glad to hear that Eric was able to help you out with your purchase. We look forward to seeing you again soon!

Wow! Looks like this bank could use some new mgmt… the terrible reviews on here speak to the experience I also had and we will be pulling our money and leaving.. just went thru a process to get a home equity loan from this bank. Was given completely wrong information from the appraisal process to the application dates.. simple stuff that they should have gotten right. They acted like our loan wasn’t worth there time and Matt( gm) said “ I won’t be spending much more time on your file because I’m busy and also it’s not my job” The nerve!! I was under the impression when your employee screws up as mgmt.. it’s your job to fix it. They didn’t care the employee screwed my loan up and there was no ramifications or making it right. Needless to say, we went with another bank and you all should too! These guys are terrible and I hope they clean house… can’t believe they haven’t already!!

I hate that Firefly merged with TruStone. I was with Firefly since 1993 and was treated respectfully and was able to get answers when needed. The Golden Valley location is awful. The people working there are rude and the lack of customer service or job knowledge is appalling. I didn’t have access to my business account for three weeks after the merger as no one in person or by phone could link my accounts or get the online account set up. Two weeks ago while shopping, my debit card would not work. I received a call from TruStone fraud protection when I tried to use both my debit and my Visa. I told them that it was me. They told me either card should now work. Neither did. They weren’t declined, they just wouldn’t process. Two days later I received a letter that the chips were faulty and new cards were on the way. I still haven’t received them. Today, I went in to deposit three business checks. A older female teller told me I didn’t have a business account there. Then she told me I gave her the wrong member number. I’ve had it since 1993 so I’m pretty sure I didn’t. She then asked for my ID. FOR A DEPOSIT. She told me that I need to say I used to be a Firefly member when I come in. This was news to me. I’ve been there in person four times making deposits. No one has needed my ID or asked if I was with Firefly. I picked up my checks and asked for a withdrawal slip. She said I didn’t need one. I again asked for a withdrawal slip. She reached directly in front of her to hand me one. She didn’t have to take a single step. I stepped out of line. I logged into the TruStone app and transferred all of money from my EIGHT accounts into one. I got back in line with my completed withdrawal slip with my same member number on it that she told me was incorrect. I waited in line for a different teller and handed him my ID with the slip that withdrew the total amount from my accounts minus outstanding bill pays. He looked at both, at me, and said “You’re Leah?” (Isn’t that the point of the ID?!?) I also didn’t need to tell him I was with Firefly and he was able to find my account with the number I gave. Hmmmm. The manager had to come sign it the cashier’s check. No one bothered to ask why I took the total amount of my accounts out. I politely volunteered that they just lost a customer due to the horrible customer service since the merger and that the rudeness of the other teller today was the last straw. His snarky response “Yep, have a nice day”. 100% made the correct decision taking my business elsewhere.

I called customer service bc when they merged with Firefly they lost my deposits. I called the helpline 4 different times, told 4 different things, and was told a supervisor would call me, they didn't! They lost my money and sent me on a goose chase. They don't take losing your money seriously and won't respond with a sense of urgency. I'm definitely going to close my account.

I obtained a bridge loan through Trustone to finance some repairs on my home for the upcoming sale. I had a very poor experience. Shortly after setting up the loan, I found communication from them very poor. The website was difficult to use and to pay the loan I needed to phone in the payments. Online bill pay was not available. I have never been late on a payment for anything. I did not receive the invoices via mail and needed to talk to 2 different people to be able to view my invoices online. With the confusion I ended up being 30 days late on a payment for the first time. No warning, no e-mail, no phone call from Trustone. The late payment was immediately reported to the credit bureau. I found out about the problem while in the process setting up closing for my now sold house and new to be purchased home. I called the branch manager and multiple other employees with hopes we could fix the issue after explaining how many families were involved in this and that the credit hit caused by the 1 and only missed payment would cause financing for the new home to fall through. I was told there is nothing to be done. For a community bank to have no care about what happens to the community is very disappointing. All over $130.00
