Extremely old-school methods of banking. Cannot spend more than $500 per day without calling to raise the daily limit. They close at 5pm and are not available on weekends. My wife has been stranded multiple times because you cannot use your card out of town even in Illinois without calling in advance. I just opened a new account with a different bank and tried to transfer money and I could not. You must call in and ask permission to use your own money. Absolutely sick of it. Get a real bank account.

I had a really BAD interaction with a banking rep on 11/02/2021, My mom has an account with St. John's for over 30 years. She's been with these guys since they where on Natural Bridge in the 80's. Now to the story, we where at the bank to make a withdrawal from her savings account (which holds some of my funds as well) I'm her son from out of town (TX) . There was a mistake made on her banking statement that she didn't understand. When we told the banking representative about the mistake she made it clear that it wasn't a fault of St. Johns Bank, which wasn't true. She was VERY aggressive with her tone and demeaner which was uncaused for. When the voices of BOTH parties got a little elevated she made a statement saying I have my securities watching you, which I felt was very races and uncalled for!!!!!! This in my opinion, of which I am entitled to, is & was a prime example of the Karen's of today. When she was at fault. St. Johns Bank gets a ( F) for customer service

the customer service at st johns bank is great, unfortunately their methods are just too old fashioned for us and we'll be closing our account. if you go out of town you have to call them in advance, which i didnt know, so i got stranded out of town unable to pay for my hotel room because it was past 5pm. i could live with calling before vacation but the problem is that there is NO 24 hour phone number, its absurd for a bank in this day and age. you can only report a lost or stolen card after hours, everything else has to wait. if a bill goes through and you hit your $500/day spending limit your card will be cut off and there's no way to fix it past 5pm. today our debit card locked and i have no idea why, we did not hit our spending limit. we had to buy medication and since it was 630pm we ended up having to borrow money from a friend even though we have more than enough to pay for it in our account. there will be no help available until tomorrow. good people, but its too frustrating. we would stay if 24/7 customer service was added.

Had to make a appointment to open a account the soonest was several days away. I took off work to accommodate the bank -saying they only can have 1 person in the bank at a time and only have 1 banker. I made a appointment for 9am I get there and call and the rude condescending lady tells me it was wrote down for the following day. I tell her Ive taken off work and already and I can not come back and take off again just because they , wrote it incorrectly . She tells nothing can be done . I asked to wait and she tells me it could be several hours. Anyway don’t waste your time with a appointment with employees at a bank who don’t want to be bothered by pesky account holders

Great staff but they always say one thing and do another I’m honestly tired of it so I’ll be closing my account and going to Bank of America aka their neighbors!

Banking is Fine,, but hands down the rudest customer service. Every time I've had a question, they make me feel like I'm bothering them. Today was last straw, I'll be switching banks. Which seems like it's going to be a headache. Still better than how I was spoken to today.

Just had a great experience opening a new checking account. My Personal Banker, Nicole, was kind and patient. She did an excellent job of informing me how to use the banking tools, and navigate the system. Nicole exemplifies great Customer Service! I look forward to to future interaction.

Until today, this was one of the best banks I had ever had the pleasure of doing business with (and the word "pleasure" doesn't usually come to mind when talking about a *bank*!)! Unfortunately, that all changed today, when I opened my mailbox: they are radically changing their approach to banking with the community. Before the transition, we had a "free" account (the only charges were for overdrawing or using certain ["foreign"] ATMs. Now, there are monthly charges ($6.00/month - $72.00/year) JUST for the PRIVILEGE of having an account with them; the old ATM charges still apply (as much as I despise the universal ATM fees, I get why they are a necessity evil). The issue is the "Maintenance Fee". I have closed every account at evey bank that has gone to the "Maintenance Fee" model, and this one will be no different. The maintenance fee implies that having your account is a burden - a money loser - for the bank, and that is just NOT TRUE! Even if you keep extremely low balances (the bare minimum of a dollar for instance), the bank makes Money every time you hit an ATM (ATM fees are a HUGE part of banking revenue these days! Remember all of the promises made by the Top 10 during the ATM roll-out in the late 70's/early 80s, that they would never charge for ATM transactions because just having you as a customer added value????). So, depending on what you want, it's either a $5 or $6 fee every month, just for the privilege of having an account! Then, add in the out of control ATM fee structure (I don't mind banks charging for ATM usage in an amount that pays for ATM upkeep and a small profit, but banks have long ago changed that to a very high profit center - a despicable act!), and the banks end up taking in AT MINIMUM, around one hundred dollars a moth, JUST FOR HOLDING THE MONEY THEY ARE CHARGING OTHER INTEREST ON WHEN THEY LEND IT OUT!!! St. john's was among the last of the truly GREAT banks. I'm really sorry to see them go.
