Solvay Bank Milton Ave, Solvay

Been banking here for years. Lovely tellers and had easy time getting any and all problems solved. However, in light of COVID, I do not like going in person. I know the staff is trying, but other customers make it unsafe for me to come in. I love the drive through! Being able to bank from my my car has been life-changing. Also shows the bank cares about its customers and staff alike.

HORRIBLE BRANCH !!! Teller(s) are rude and clearly don't know what they are doing. Good customer service is the key and this branch does badly with that. If you are looking for a great branch W. GENESSEE IS THE BEST!! MILTON I DO NOT RECOMMEND. DON'T GO HERE!!!

They replaced two branches with one... Closing the one I used most. Also, the ATM only dispenses in units of $20. I only needed $50. Plus I needed a ten. Seems like a brand new machine could do that... So, it's further away and less helpful. All that said, I'm still overall very happy with Solvay Bank. It "progress" that has me frustrated!!

Worst bank EVER! Run from this place. Go see a loan shark. They would be more responsive than this place. Worst follow up and customer service ever. I will refinance with another bank and I could care less if it costs me more ones. That’s how terrible they are. STAY AWAY!!! Negative stars!!!!! -5

Been there for 20 yrs, the tellers are very nice to me and quick service.

My mother frequents this bank and always has wonderful things to stay about the staff and service, but she’s having a harder time driving up to work with the tellers. We’re glad she’s using the drive through, but we’ve been worried about her driving out there with all the ice out. So I’ve been driving her up on my lunch, just to let her have her routine since I can’t have her all cooped up at home. I don’t let her take one step out on that ice. She’s in decent health and doesn’t even walk with a cane, but I can’t risk her falling and breaking something, or worse. I don’t want to hear about her or any of her friends falling out there. The past year’s had enough problems. I get it - it’s February, the snow keeps coming, the bank has other problems. Please think of folks like my ma, who are still coming, and do more with the ice removal or laying down salt so she’s not at risk of getting hurt.

If you asked me 20 years ago where to get a mortgage, I would have said Solvay Bank. But I no longer recommend obtaining a mortgage through Solvay Bank. They still have a competitive rate (though not outstanding) but the hassle and deception are not worth it. In my most recent experience, rather than being upfront about what they needed they kept changing their story throughout the process. When I challenged them as to why they told me something different so many times they responded with hostility. Truthfully, if I hadn't already paid the application fee I would have found another lender. My advice to Solvay Bank: Do banking how you used to 20 years ago. Be upfront and communicate well with your customers.

Even with a slight problem in 2012. They have been better than any other bank around. They are also not a massive chain of banks. Meaning they help you on a much more personal level. I would highly recommend passing up other banks like Key, BoA, Chase or M&T to head to your local Solvay bank location.
