SharePoint Credit Union Reviews
Q
Walk away from this credit union. Close your browser window and research a better one. Despite having an account with them for years, they ALWAYS give attitude when you call for fraud assistance or ask about overdraft charges. When you call about overdrafts, most times you hear, "you should be keeping better track of your money," when it is really about how they process the debits, before credits. When you ask for each overdraft fee to be refunded, they act as if the money is coming from their own pocket. Several times I have asked for transactions to simply be declined, since I did not want to accrue a $30 fee each time. They have failed to change my account, charging me insane amounts, instead. I was recently charged $30 for $3.91. Go figure. I have also contacted fraud for issues, with one $35 dispute taking over 6 months!! Their favorite line, "in process." It was not until I told them I felt like it was racial discrimination that a woman with a nasty attitude called to inform they refunded the fraudulent charge. Mind you, YOU, as the member, will have to do your own fraud research. They will not and will blame you. When you make a purchase with your PERSONAL CHECKING ACCOUNT, you cannot spend more than $500 without prior approval or they will decline the purchase. If you deposit more than $225, even cash, they will hold it for 2-5 days, depending on when you made the deposit. You cannot withdraw more than $300-500 per day from an ATM, unless you call for their permission, as they have to "temporarily change your account settings." BS. It is like having your parent control your money. This place is not worth it. At all. If you are black, they judge you, discriminate against you and belittle you. They try to act as if we are dumb. Go someplace else and get the respect you and your money deserve.

As a business owner I appreciate the customer service. Though spotty at times, most of the time you get to a real person quickly who can help quickly. However, the check holding process for an established business is absolutely unacceptable. 3 day hold on a 1k check is crazy. Furthermore when confronted about this rule the answers seem to change depending on who you speak to. Also, another item that is never mentioned at sign up is, on personal accounts there is a 1500k daily spend so if you want to buy an expensive item like a bed... good luck. You will have to call the bank and ask to use your money like a good little boy or girl and then they may increase the limit to over 1.5k BUT this can happen only once a month. I was blown away by this and it solidified our decision to choose another bank.

Been with this bank for about 20 years. I am starting to miss the RE! Since it has become Share Point I'm not as happy with the service. You guys are getting real close to me closing my account! Around Thanksgiving I left my debit card in another banks ATM. I was on the third week when I couldn't wait any longer. I went in on a Saturday and the gentleman I spoke with started saying this wasn't his regular bank and didn't think he could help me. I then told him this was the third week and he then started to communicate with others and I got it without a problem. The other card that should have already been in the mail never came. If you don't see the issues here then you guys have a serious problem that needs a remedy! 2☆'s because of the past experience but I really feel more like one. I've sent an email before about how I'm feeling and I got no response.

I have always had positive interactions with the employees. Very helpful and nice. If they need to call you back they do. Been with them for many years.
Hi Maxwell - we are so glad to hear this! We appreciate your business, and look forward to continue helping you with your financial needs.

Have been with the CU for close to 25 yrs. Chose not to use OD protection, specified to just decline charges. They enroll me anyway in OD program and rack up the fees. Sick of the games.

The last few interactions with employees I have had at this branch left a bad taste in my mouth. Also, the atm is constantly out of money. If this continues I will be seeking a different Institution to handle my banking needs.
Our goal is to provide the best member service. We welcome your feedback; please reach out to us with more detailed information of your experience at [email protected]. We will share your comments with the appropriate manager and use this as a coaching opportunity to improve our member service.

This has been my bank for about 6 years now, and I cannot begin to tell you how pleased I am. No high pressure sales tactics like at Wells Fargo, no ridiculous fees like any other national banks. The people who work there are all familiar and that makes the experience more comfortable. I refinanced two car loans through them at a lower interest rate than my previous credit union, and I have a credit card through them at a low interest rate as well (not that I let it revolve, buy in an emergency it wouldn't ruin me). Whenever I have a question or issue, they are accessible, friendly, and prompt. I was very young when I opened my accounts with them and not financially literate, and they never made me feel dumb or spoke to me in a condescending manner or in a way I didn't understand. They were very careful to explain things to me in terms I understood, and make sure I had all the information I needed to make the best decision for me. THANK YOU, SharePoint, I don't think I will ever open an account at another bank. Even if I moved out of state, I would do everything I could to keep my accounts!

The branch manager seemed pretty rude. Don't know if it's because my name is Muhamad or because I'm a young guy. Currently have an auto loan out with them and went in for another loan. One gentleman asked the manager if she wanted him to help me and she replied with "no, he currently has a car loan with us and most likely doesn't make enough money for another loan". She said that without even looking at my financials at all yet and let me tell you that I'm a business owner and my income was no problem. She was very rude telling me "oh you need this" and I reply with I have that. "Oh you need this as well though", I have that too. She didn't even want to start the process with me at all and kept telling me that she can't help me. I went right across the street to Wells Fargo, opened an account, and got the loan with the exact same information I provided at share point. Looking forward to refinancing my current loan with SharePoint on to Wells Fargo as well, followed by closing my account with SharePoint Credit Union. Never been so humiliated at a bank in my life. Warning: don't open an account with these people at all. Especially if your Muslim, very racist manager.

As this credit union has progressed over the past years, it has been as a member of my family. I have been a member for 50 years and have been treated with the utmost kindness and respect and professionalism that anyone could ask. A super bunch of people.

Their check holding policy is insane. For an established business account to wait 3 business days to access any check over 1k is preposterous.
