We have been buying and having service done with North Park Toyota in SA for over 10 years . Unfortunately, new ownership and service has become horrible. So happy 😁 with Our entire experience w San Marcos Toyota and glad we found our new home for sales and service. I had been in the market for a 5th Gen 4Runner for about a year; but with new vehicle inventory issues, it was getting challenging to find a decently priced 4Runner. Last week, I found a reasonably priced 4Runner at San Marcos Toyota, with just enough miles to pique my interest. I reached out to the dealership, and Maya contacted me about the vehicle. Given, that I live 2 hrs away from San Marcos, Maya provided all the details about the vehicle, and structured a deal (including my trade-in) over text messages. I drove to San Marcos next day to finalize the deal; and Maya was there for the appointment as promised. We took a test-drive, and then Maya went to work out the details. She also took care of a few minor items which I pointed out during the test-drive. As the day progressed, I had to attend multiple work meetings, which I had told Maya about. She arranged a private office for me to conduct my business, as the dealership worked on my purchase and financing. I finalized the purchase in the middle of another meeting, but felt very comfortable with the terms of the deal, and attitude of the dealership staff. We are a Toyota family, and Im not new to Toyota dealerships, and have seen my share of bad dealerships. I really recommend purchasing your next Toyota from San Marcos Toyota, and ask for Maya for a great buying experience.

When I bought my car I had the best experience! Stephanie was my sales person. I told her what I was looking for and she showed me exactly that. She did not try to get me to buy the more expensive vehicle and did not try to sell me tons of extra things. The entire buying process was easy and stress free! Charles was awesome! The moment i found my car, he saved my future car for me while it was being serviced and with my car being in high demand, it could've been sold to someone else sooner and for more money but he has been very accommodating with my requests. Toyota San Marcos service department changed my brake pads in April, and several weeks ago I began to hear a clicking noise when I braked. I took my car to another mechanic to have it looked at. He found that my two back brake pads were both missing a bolt, were not fastened down, and were millimeters from becoming completely displaced. The picture shows the wearing of the metal where it was rubbing against the tire. I was also given a list of about 2k worth of maintenance for fluid changes which I assume is based on mileage as my fluids were checked and did not need changing. I have used Toyota regularly for maintenance for years and have not been impressed, but this was very upsetting to find.

I recently bought my fourth vehicle from San Marcos Toyota and will be back again for a fifth. I've always had pretty good experiences and this time was no exception. Sam worked with my wife and me to get the vehicle she's wanted for such a long time. Belia also did an AMAZING job keeping in contact with me and sending me vehicle info sheets when something came available. Even with inventory issues due to covid, Sam and Belia did a great job finding us a vehicle. Also, because of other issues, Sam ended up working a majority of our deal by phone. We finally decided to take the leap and start looking for a new or used car. Our 1st stop was San Marcos Toyota, and a sweet young man came out to help us start our search. Shea Gault was fresh out of training and was supported by a veteran who was there when we needed him. We drove several vehicles, but we weren't finding the right one for us. We were open that we had just started looking and didn't intend to buy that day. But Shea and Cal had one more possibility for us that had just been traded in and hadn't even been processed yet. It turned out to check all the boxes for us. We realized we could avoid a long, tedious search during which we might not find anything we liked more than our new Camry! And as few cars as there are on the market right now, it's smart to snatch up a good deal when you find it. We were tickled to get to be Shea's very first sale! Great experience from the time we got there, our salesman Desmond (Spencer), met us as we exited our car, greeted us and was just over all a professional. He listened to what we could afford, and what we wanted, and needed, and went beyond to make sure we were happy, and got us in the car that we were happy with. He knew the vehicle specs well and on our test drive shared some tips to get the most out of my truck. He checked in frequently while Thomas in financing found the best program for me. Even with the current market craziness, our experience couldn't have been better. Daniel helped us as soon as we arrived and we actually ended up purchasing a truck that has just been delivered that morning. I had the BEST experience. My salesman, Mazin was super transparent, genuine, and down to earth. Didn’t play games and seriously was just the best kind of salesman you could get. I couldn’t get my payments where I wanted on one car, but he said he could get me them on this other car and as soon as I saw it I fell in love and was sold. (I think he already knew I was going to love it bc it was the exact colors I wanted) Then he brought us to Adam, the finance manager and he was super chill and down to earth also. Customer service is absolutely terrible. There was a man in the Body Shop area who literally told me that it was not his job and did not know anything rather than saying he could find out for me. After waiting for 20 minutes, the man came out and told me that the service department had moved and that he knew nothing else basically. He continued to then raise his voice when I asked if there had been an email or other form of communication sent out to notify individuals who had made appointments so they would know that the department had moved and as a young woman I felt attacked and harassed by this individual. He then ignored me when I asked him his name, I can only assume because he knew he was in the wrong. This place is absolutely horrific and terrifying and I recommend that you don’t come here for any service whatsoever because they do not know what good customer service is.
Ashlee - Thank you for letting us know your concerns with your visit to San Marcos Toyota today; it was obviously very alarming to read your review especially after you have previously given our service department a good review. We completed the service drive renovations to our dealership in November 2021 and moved our service drive back from our temporary location at the Collision Center to its original location on the north side of our showroom. The temporary fences have been removed from the service drive and we have our service entrance clearly marked with new building signage. With the inclement weather today we had parked several vehicles under the cover between the main showroom and our collision center so it is easy to understand where there may have been confusion. We reviewed our dealership's surveillance video and found you waited less than 8 minutes in our previous temporary service drive to be greeted by one of our Collision Center Estimators, Greg, who proceeded to let you know our Service Drive had been relocated back to its original location on the north side of the showroom. After speaking to you, he asked the driver of the vehicle parked behind you to back up so you could take your vehicle to the service drive. We were extremely surprised to hear felt attacked and harassed by Greg as he simply asked how he may be of service, directed you to the north side of the showroom, and asked another customer to back up their vehicle so you could easily proceed to the service drive. Again, thank you for letting us know your concerns with your visit to San Marcos Toyota today and our apology you felt attacked and harassed when our team member assisted you in locating our service drive.

My FJ Cruisers front windshield had rock damage from a cement truck that was in front of me. I placed a claim with my Insurance Liberty Mutual, who was absolutely HORRIBLE! Steer clear of this insurance provider as they did everything they could not to properly handle my claim and fix the damage although I had full coverage with zero deductible. I finally got them to agree to my choice of repair shops which was San Marcos Toyota. The insurance Co. wanted me to pay out of packet and then said they would reimburse me. After all the hassles I had with Liberty Mutual, I did not trust they would fully reimburse me (yes, they tried everything unethical they could think of). Finally after 3 months of back and forth, John Fontaney (service writer at SM Toyota) took ownership of my claim (at least from the dealers perspective). This gentleman was fantastic!! He was a great communicator, clear, efficient no BS. His follow thru was on point, he ordered parts necessary set up my appointment, scheduled my rides to and back to the dealership and got the job done as he promised! EXCELLENT!!! In this World of below par, I was reminded of another time and place when things were done properly and folks did what they said they would. My truck was done perfectly and thanks to John and Mr. Chuck Jones (credit to this gentleman as well), I picked up the truck and all billing went straight to Liberty Mutual and I wasn't inconvenienced again. These two gentlemen have won my business back to San Marcos Toyota! They treated me better than excellent! Chuck Jones had actually contacted me via a survey I had filled out, he was following up with me. After explaining my experience with a different service writer, Mr. Jones assured me SM Toyota would get the job done and I wouldn't be made to be without my vehicle until Liberty made payment. Once the work was completed, they handed me my keys and said they would invoice the insurance company. Perfect!! Thank you John Fontaney, Chuck Jones and San Marcos Toyota!

I bought a car from there recently and was assured that my payments would be auto debited from my account after I was told it was set up with the finance employee there. I called there asking for the finance department and they reassured me it will be automatically taken from my account. I'm not happy with the misinformation because it wasn't.

This was probably the best car buying experience I've ever had! Our sales rep Armando Salinas aka Mando was fantastic straight out of the gate. I have never had a car salesman make me feel so at ease and comfortable. With the car market being so crazy, he did absolutely everything to make it great. SM Toyota and him bent over backwards to get us exactly what we were looking for for exactly what we wanted to pay. It was quick and painless (two things car buying never is)! Allen Odom was our in house finance guy. He is hilarious and finalized the process is the best way. Allen you are awesome! Mando, you're an amazing funny human being so thank you! We bought our 2022 sequoia here and have 2 recalls already. We made the appointment to have the recalls completed and arrived 15 minutes prior to that time. An hour later the service professional comes to tell us there are ONLY 2 vehicles ahead of us now! When I questioned why we had to make an appointment when apparently that time means nothing. His reply was they should tell you that the appointment times are only a check in time. This appointment time has nothing to do with when the service is done!
C Paulette - We apologize our team member did not properly communicate we schedule check-in or drop off times, not appointments, as we do our best to complete work found during our multi-point inspections on the same visit so a customer does not have to make a second trip. Because we don't know if a vehicle may have needs prior to the inspection, we sometimes miss on scheduling the correct number of customer vehicles for one day. Again, please accept our apology for the miscommunication.

Can’t give a review on sales or finance because I never made it in the door. I had my wife and kids with me in the car and was just driving the lot to see what they had and it was like vultures surrounding their prey. Every time I would stop to look at something someone would start running over towards us. That alone made me leave. I don’t like being bum rushed right out the gate. IF and WHEN I need your help I know where to find YOU! Leave me alone to actually shop and browse. Don’t need someone crowding me while I’m trying to decide on how to spend my money.
TruckerBiker - We are blessed to have a large dealership on over 25 acres and train our Sales Consultants to approach all vehicles and ask the potential customer how we may serve them. Often it is letting the potential customer know where our inventory is located on the lot, other times it is educating them about where additional inventory may be that is not accessible to non-employees. We will continue to train our Sales Consultants this way as we would never want a potential customer to believe we don't want to earn their business because none of our team members approached their vehicle and asked how we could best serve them during their visit to our dealership.

Lloyd Gray & John Austin had me in with trade-in, negotiated numbers, signed finance docs and back on the road in a brand new Tundra in about 2 hours on a Saturday evening when I showed up 30 mins before close. Every time I come here they manage to put me in a bad mood. Whether it's booking an appointment and not being helped until 30 minutes past the appointment, not doing a service I requested on 3 SEPARATE occasions, or waiting for pictures for an hour and then having to leave my car overnight because they took too long to send them over and now they don't have enough time to do the actual repairs. Three strikes, your out. I will have to find another dealership to take my car, because this is getting ridiculous.

This was probably the most relaxing and easiest car buying experience ever! First off, Mazin was extremeley helpful and proffesional with the entire process and made it so easy and relaxing on my end. He was honest about which vehicles he felt would be a good fit for me and kept the honesty open when it came to the financing part as well. I have Chapter 7 bankruptcy on my credit and some how Mazin and Thomas worked their magic to help me get approved and start rebuilding back my credit. Always been a Ford girl but I think they helped change my mind to Toyota and Honda. Thanks a bunch! Will be buying from SMT again!

I drove 30 min to the dealership to find out that the sales rep did not disclose a mandatory addendum fee of $3,000 that they add to the price of the car. And it is stuff that I do not even want or need. And to top it off they did not even try to negotiate or offer me another car to try and purchase. So be careful when you go here to buy a car. ADD $3,000 to whatever price they quote you if they do not tell you about this addendum fee.

So I originally posted this review 2 years ago. At that time I gave it a 5 star rating. Unfortunately I have to reduce it to 4 stars. My wife enjoys buying cars. No, we aren't loaded and buying cars for a hobby but she enjoys the act / challenge of it. Best car for the best deal kind of thing. I bought a 2017 Tundra from them and loved the truck. Had nothing but the best experience then which is why we went back. Over the last month we have visited this lot 6 times. The first 2 times we were there without even seeing an employee or salesman. We did not go inside as we were out on the lot looking at the vehicles. My wife decided that she would buy a car from the first salesman that actually went out of their way to sell her a car. It took 6 visits averaging an hour each time. Then on Tuesday 03/09/21 Jayson Landers (by the way Toyota management it isn't Larsen) walked out and introduced himself to my wife. Long story short he sold not one but two vehicles. We purchased a 2021 Toyota Tundra 4x4 TSS and a 2021 4-Runner 4x4. No we aren't talking base model vehicles either. The salesman had only been working their 3 days. He was honest, straight forward, and a delight to work with. Now, the reason for the drop from 5 stars to 4. First off the staff kept interrupting our salesman while he was helping us with our transaction. The other huge item is he has been there 3 days and sold 3 cars the day before and still doesn't have any access to the software and/or computers needed to make our buying process expedient and efficient. We were there from 1000 AM until 730pm. There was no credit issue, we weren't trying to buy something we couldn't afford, and other then the general haggling from sticker price to the "real price" everything went without issue. The people in the glass room and the offices in the back didn't start the paperwork for us to sign until after we had already received the keys, emptied out the trade in, and now are sitting there tired, hungry, and bored. The salesman had to go find someone every time he had to login to their pad because the lack of credentials. That is ridiculous. This won't keep us from buying Toyota's but since this dealership is under "New management" you guys are hindering your sales people and making the customers wait longer than we should have to. My Husband and I absolutely dread car shopping. We went to San Marcos Toyota found exactly what we were looking for and loved every minute of the process. We even went two hours early to pick up our vehicle because we had so much fun talking to our Sales Person Eric and the finance manager. This place went above and beyond for us and we didn’t even have to ask. Our Sales Person had our car detailed twice because he wasn’t satisfied with the first clean which looked great to us. I recently brought my CHR in for service, as my car was making a LOUD noise consistently. My appointment was not on the service ipad,which I thought was concerning. The attendant listened to my car on a test drive, heard the noise,and relayed the sound to a technician. The attendant returned back and told me the technician said it's nothing to worry about. The car is just getting older and louder. I was given the example that when you buy a fan, it starts out quiet then gets louder as it ages. So does your car. It was never heard by the technician, the car was not brought back to be diagnosed, I was dismissed with a friendly wave and told its nothing to worry about. The noise continued, so I got a second opinion from Cedar Park Toyota. They did a free diagnostic after hearing my story. Sure enough, the transmission was completely going out. This dismissal and oversight from San Marcos Toyota could have put myself, my kids, and other drivers in danger. If you are a woman, please be aware that if you go to service by yourself, you may be treated and dismissed just as I was. Very scary and disappointing way to do business when people rely on you for their safety.

I just recently purchased a 2019 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro in hands down the best color ever made, Voodoo Blue, which is rare and hard to come by. I contacted San Marcos Toyota because they had a Voodoo Blue Tundra online prior to making the trip and spoke with a woman at the front counter. She was extremely friendly, checked the inventory to make sure she had the vehicle so I wouldn't drive up there for no reason, took my name and number and had a sales representative contact me via text (I requested text message due to meetings during the day). I was contacted by Big Mike who was a true professional, extremely knowledgeable, and willing to put in the work to make a customer happy. I drove up from San Antonio and the vehicle was pulled right up front ready for my arrival. I was greeted in the parking lot by Big Mike and from then on it was nothing but absolute professionalism and commitment to my satisfaction. I was greeted by the General Manager and Sales Manager as soon as I entered. They gave me exactly what I wanted for my trade in, worked with me on the price of the vehicle, and continued to strive for the highest level customer service. We were looking to trade in our vehicle for a new one. I checked out some prices online, submitted a trade-in inquiry, and requested an appointment. When we sat down, I gave the sales person the low down (what we were looking for, price range, etc.). I told him what my trade-in inquiry range was and what the range was listed as on Bluebook. He then proceeded to tell me that Bluebook was not an accurate tool. I've used Bluebook in the past and it has always been spot on - so I was not really sold on that response. He took my keys so that another employee could look over my trade-in. During that time, he came up with a vehicle that might work for us. Looking at the price, it was different than what I saw online - but it was still within my range, so no big deal. However, the vehicle in question was not at the lot. We had to look at an older model, which was fine. We checked it out and although nice, it was not going to work for us. We came back in side and told the salesman that the vehicle in question was not going to meet our needs. I was surprised that we were met with a defeated attitude. He did not even try to show us anything else that might be in our price range (or maybe even a little bit higher that we might have been able to afford) - he just let us leave empty handed. I think we were there less than 30 minutes tops. Before we left, I asked if they had valued my trade and I was told a range which was much different than both my online and Bluebook appraisals, which did not sit well since my vehicle was in good shape, no dents or accidents, just minor wear and tear. All in all, it was a very disappointing experience. The salesman was pretty young, so I will chalk it up to lack of training and experience - which was obvious from the get go.

Be careful dealing specifically with Bella or JP. I drove 50 minutes and they dropped a $3k mandatory surcharge on me. I asked multiple times before coming in if this would happen and was assured it wouldn’t. Didn’t appreciate the deceit.

We have purchased multiple vehicles and we have taken our vehicles in to them for service, but after this last experience, I don’t think we will. Due to a service issue on a vehicle, they gave us a loaner. When we checked the loaner back in they noticed a chip in the windshield. I had asked if that was there before we got it and they said yes and not to worry about it. Fast forward a few weeks and my insurance had a claim submitted by them. Did not tell me. Just went right to my insurance. Now they want $900 for a repair. Poor communication, follow through, and customer service. I would think twice about getting a loaner vehicle from them.

My purchase was ok. I didn't try to negotiate much which always keeps things simpler. My main gripe with most dealerships nowadays is when a vehicle is advertised at a certain price and then the price is higher at the actual dealership caused by add ons that were not asked for or wanted but yet already added and cannot be taken off. San Marcos Toyota had added a GPS and add on warranty to the advertised price. I stated I did not want them. Warranty was taken off but was told GPS could not be even though it had not been physically put on the vehicle yet. I was not allowed to test drove the vehicle on my first visit because it had not been "checked out" yet. I had to purchase vehicle to basically put it on hold so that when ready I could take for a test drive. When I did test drive a couple of evenings later it seemed fine but on the way home it became obvious the vehicle needs new front wheel hubs and windshield has several chips but too late to ask for it to be repaired. So again, experience is only just ok at best.

Trey (Used Car Manager) was an absolute horrible individual. My wife went in to view a van priced at 40k and loved it. The salesman she worked with was great. We were pre-approved already and had 10k ready to put down. Because of the vehicle shortage we’ve been looking for several months to get the right vehicle. It looked like she found it. However Trey (Used Car Manager) literally told her and then told me over the phone that he wouldn’t sell us the car because we wouldn’t finance through them or purchase the $3000 in warranties they wanted to add so they would be losing money. I, myself, as a commission only worker know that the way my wife was treated was an absolute disgrace to customer service. Trey (Used Car Manager) is a liar and will try to nickel and dime you. DO NOT work with Trey (Used Car Manager). He will try to take you for everything you’re worth. Trey (Used Car Manager) is an absolute disgrace and shouldn’t be trusted or worked with. I hope this review saves other individuals from dealing with this.

Test drove an SUV with a cracked windshield one evening and really liked it. Salesman found a similar vehicle on the lot and asked if it was ok, but we pointed to another one that had a more favorable interior color. The salesman immediately took that car to detailing while we went in to sign the paperwork. It was after closing when we finally got in the car and drove home. The next day, we noticed that the vehicle was damaged. We quickly expressed displeasure with San Marcos Toyota that they would sell us a damaged vehicle. Well, San Marcos Toyota went over and above to prove that it was an honest mistake. They said that car should have been marked as damaged, and not sold to us as a brand-new vehicle. They immediately offered to trade the damaged vehicle out for an equal undamaged vehicle. After a week of searching for a like model, they could not find an exact match, but they found one in next higher trim level and presented it to us at no extra charge. Over the course of the week, we dealt with several folks on the sales team, and they were all 100% courteous and insistent on making the situation right. We could not have asked for better customer service from anyone at San Marcos Toyota!

As a lady it’s sometimes hard to go buy a vehicle on your own. San Marcos Toyota is not one of those places. I came based on a recommendation from my bro-in-law and I’m happy I did. I found exactly what I was looking for - within the budget I wanted to stay in. The dealership was willing to negotiate with me on price, trade in, and amenities. My salesperson DJ went out of his way to meet my needs. The service department fixed some cosmetic issues, touched up paint and detailed her before delivering her to my home. I had an amazing experience at San Marcos Toyota! Eric, Thomas, and Madison helped get me into a beautiful 2022 Toyota RAV4, and I could not be happier! I was originally told that the car wouldn’t be arriving at the dealership until the third week of February, but as soon as Madison knew that it was coming in sooner, she gave me a call and scheduled my appointment. When I arrived at my appointment, she even took the time to come chat with me on a more personal level. She was so sweet and so helpful! Prior to my appointment, I was a little bit nervous, as the process of buying a car can be confusing, frustrating, and time-consuming, but Eric made the entire experience so simple and enjoyable! I could tell that he genuinely wanted to make sure that I was 100% satisfied - which I am! Even after selling me the car, Eric stuck around while we had lunch (from the awesome FM31 food trailer, btw), and talked with us about everything from basketball to billionaires. Do not go here if you’re looking for a fair deal. They offered me $4k less then multiple other dealerships right near by for my trade. But if you do go here make sure to ask for Karlton. That away he can run your credit before bringing back the “numbers” on the deal to you. Also don’t forget their 3k dollars in add ons. Typical rip off dealership. They can take advantage of someone else but not me. Edit: Went back today and got a different salesperson / manager. We were able to work out a deal and I traded my Jeep in today for a different Jeep. Sales manager asked me what I needed to make the deal workable. Better experience the 2nd time going here.
Mr. Ellis - You are correct, we don't offer fair deals, we offer great deals! Dealerships will often offer customers inflated trade values when they are charging over market prices on the vehicles they are selling. In this case, you found a great deal at our dealership, and we did not have any room to over allow on your trade-in. We cannot run a customer's credit without the customer filling out a credit application and giving us their consent by signing and submitting the application. We appreciate you giving us the opportunity to earn your business and are disappointed to hear we could not make a deal work.

I have never written a review before but I had the absolute WORST experience with the Toyota dealership in San Marcos and I think everyone should avoid dealing with these dishonest people. I spent an entire day at the dealership doing paperwork to buy a car that we were interested in. After 7 hours of sitting there with a newborn baby I decided to go home and they told me to come back in the morning and we would finalize. When I arrived at 9:30am I was told that they sold the car to someone else. So they showed me another car, long story short I did the paperwork and took the car home after another long day at the dealership with my baby. The very next morning the check engine light came on and the vehicle told me to take the car to the dealership for engine service immediately. I took the car back to Toyota and the salesman that sold me the car came out and said "oh it's no big deal it's just the catalytic converter and sensor, parts will be here in 3 weeks but keep driving it until then it's safe" He told me this before I could even explain what happened with the check engine light, therefore they knew before they sold me the car that it had problems. I asked to speak to the manager and Craig (manager) comes out with a really terrible attitude and tells me that he doesn't care what happened and "You either want the car or you don't. If you don't I will just sell it to someone else!" In conclusion these dishonest people at the San Marcos Toyota knew the car had problems and sold it to me anyways without disclosing any of that information. They also admitted to clearing the check engine light before I test drove it. Then the manager had the nerve to have a bad attitude and be extremely unprofessional and rude to me. I will never go back here and I don't recommend it to anyone else.

We apologize and it was our mistake this was not communicated to our Pre-Owned Sales Manager. When you stated you no longer wanted the vehicle due to the catalytic converter sensor not being available for several weeks, our Pre-Owned Sales Manager agreed to take the vehicle back / unwind your deal as we did not communicate the status / timing of the recall remedy. We are honest and transparent working with customers always, even when we make a mistake. Again, we are disappointed we did not provide you a good purchase experience and apologize.

Even with the current market craziness, our experience couldn't have been better. Daniel helped us as soon as we arrived and we actually ended up purchasing a truck that has just been delivered that morning. The process was straight forward and he kept us in the loop the whole time. He's been in touch since then to make sure all is well and that we don't need anything else. Will definitely make my way up the road to San Marcos Toyota next time and would love to work with Daniel again.

I took my Prius in on a Saturday morning to have the 12V battery changed. We didn't have an appointment. Preston in the vehicle service department did a fabulous job changing this out himself and it didn't even take 30mins (even though there was a line of cars waiting). If you are bringing your vehicle to the San Marcos location, make sure to ask for Preston!!

Despite worrying about other hands touching my vehicle, after hearing so many good things about excellent treatment from Toyota owners I decided to take my pick up in for a recalled part. Suffice it to say they did as little as possible while still completing the job.. Even the multi point inspection was missing check marks, and some of it was downright wrong, but mainly Im disappointed by the sad fact that after a major steering component was replaced due to nothing but the lack of quality control at Toyota... they didn't even bother to do simple alignment. Oh, and I'm not Mr. Garcia and do not have a Tundra - good to know I'm not the only one experiencing this though
Mr. Garcia - The recall includes resetting the toe alignment on your Tundra; because it is included in the recall there is not a separate line on the repair order. Please be confident the alignment was checked as part of the recall. We do apologize our technician failed to check the MPI boxes next to brake reservoir and differential. We will use your candid feedback in training with our team.

We were sold the Apex windshield protection against our will when we bought our 2022 Highlander at San Marcos Toyota. Unfortunately the pain did not end there. Soon after we got a chip in our windshield and the special coating they forced us to pay for did nothing to stop it from cracking across the windshield in a matter of hours. We called they dealership and they determined the windshield would need repair. That was over 2 months ago. Despite numerous calls with Mat O. And Apex Direct, we still have no answer on when they will process the claim, much less when they will order a replacement. I escalated to Toyota of America but they say this should be handled by the dealership. They referred me to Chuck Jones - San Marcos Toyota operations manager who said it was not their problem and closed the complaint with Toyota of America. Not satisfied- I called TOA and was told it was up to the dealership to decide if they would honor the coverage they forced on us. Called Apex again today and they have repeatedly had issues communicating with them and said San Marcos Toyota does not understand the product they are selling. He said we should get our brand new Toyota repaired at Nissan of New Braunfels because they understood the coverage and would take care of us. Not good.

I bought my daughter a used car from there. It supposedly passed a multi point inspection. Within 2k miles the transmission blew out and needed replacement. Both front end lower forward control arms needed replacement and as a result, a realignment. They sell lemons when I comes to used cars. Used car only had 84k miles so it wasn't high mileage.

Be prepared to overpay on your repairs!!! I took my car there and the mechanic Richard up price my repairs by 60% compared to another Toyota dealership. On top of the repair price you the have to still pay the diagnostic fee of $175. Overpriced don’t even waste your time coming here. Edit: I did not let them do my car repairs here because of the huge upcharge they quoted me, it was clear the dealership was trying to take advantage of a young woman and tried to hide this fact with the review comment. This does not explain the $500 upcharge compared to the other dealership I decided to go with that also had to order the part.
Kaitlyn - We do require customers to pay a diagnostic fee for our technician to determine the problem with a vehicle however we do credit a portion of the diagnostic fee towards any recommended repairs. You chose not to do the recommended repairs due to the part being on national back order and there being an additional charge to acquire the part from another Toyota dealer's stock. If you were able to find a dealer with the part in stock and they did not have to perform any diagnostic, only the requested repair based on what our technician found, it would indeed be a lower price.

I brought a 20,000 mile tundra in for a drivetrain vibration within a 5 mph range (35-40), after the first tech looked at it he said it was tires. I have been in the automotive industry for quite some time including some time as a technician and I knew it was definitely not the tires, but I had an extra set of used tires so I figured lets swap them and see. Got a completely different set of tires on and brought it back. It had the exact same vibration at the exact same speed, IDENTICAL. Toyota service still blamed the tires. At this point I had been talking to the service manager and he was saying it was definitely the tires. So I bought a Brand new set of tires and had them install them. Identical vibration! Imagine that! somehow the entire crew at Toyota is still convinced it was the tires! I asked the manager if anyone that had worked on the truck had even looked at any of the driveline other than the tires and he said no. How was that not part of checking the truck out! In the end Toyota made me spend close to $1000 dollars for unnecessary tires and 5 hours worth of drive time back and forth. When I took the truck back after they refused to look past the tries they were so out of balance I had to immediately take it to another shop and have them rebalanced Oh and a third party mechanic found the problem It was the Carrier bearing and it was mounted slightly crooked ...you can literally see it if you look under the truck. I can understand not wanting to do warranty work but this was a little extreme.

We are disappointed to hear we were not able to completely solve the vibration issue on your Tundra, however, we still believe the tires (both the two worn sets and the new set) contributed to the vibration. This has nothing to do with whether the work would have been under warranty or customer pay; it does not make a difference to our dealership. However, as we were not able to completely resolve the vibration, our Fixed Operations Director has reached out to you to discuss your concerns if you would please return his call.

Terrible experience with Finance Mananger Cohen Wilson , terrible people skills and not personable at all and he tried to sneak in so many extra add on service es for things a 2022 car will not need in the next 5 years . Once we realized this things were added on to the loan without explaining throughly to my brother what he was actually signing for. He was very unprofessional and not nice at all and it turn out that out of the almost 7k that were added on to the loan for things like theft protection and windshield those two couldn’t be taken off bc there is not cancellation after you sign to get them . Make sure you check your contract before you leave !
Monica - Your brother purchased GAP insurance, vehicle service contract, Apex GPS monitoring, C-Bond windshield protection, and interior/exterior protection package with annual full interior/exterior detail. Each of these products were clearly disclosed on the deal worksheet, buyer's order, retail installment contract, and each individual product plan, all of which your brother signed. If he was not comfortable signing any documents he could have presented any concerns to his Sales Consultant and they would have been addressed immediately. If he no longer finds value in these products, all but the Apex GPS monitoring and C-bond windshield protection are cancellable and this may be handled by any of the F&I Managers at our dealership.

Very disappointed with the sales offer i received. Let me Explain in detail about what was told to me and how it was presented first thing first the 5000 over MSRP market adjustment add and then the overpriced window tint and GPS add on at just under 3000 yes i said they adding a GPS unit chopping your new cars wiring system to track you. when asked if they could leave that off they said no car gets sold here with out adding the GPS onto the car or truck. that was the deal breaker for me i felt iffy about adding a tracking device to a brand new 2022 model car that comes with its own factory GPS possibly voiding or causing issues down the road not to mention my Privacy being violated i would not feel secure knowing they can track my every movement with out my consent. They had a excellent snack area for the customers while they go back and forth trying to get you to agree upon being tracked. Sadly i cannot recommend this particular dealer for anything sales wise not sure about the service department. I did find other toyota dealers not requiring the GPS tracking scheme, my only advice is to look around if something does not seem on the up and up you will find some honest dealers still out there just not my personal experience i received here at san marcos toyota.

Nice crew in general with decent vehicles. My main issue is with the sales guys. I know some stuff about cars and I have done my research on what I wanted. As soon as we started talking, me and the salesman, he lied too me about pricing on new compaired to used vechiles. If someone who doesnt know much about cars comes in they'd believe him and get ripped off which I dont think is okay.

So I was a little apprehensive to return when I became interested in a Corolla Cross. But this time, the customer service was amazing! Mazin and Amyx made sure that I was completely take care of when it came to my needs and wants in the vehicle. My car was very low on coolant 25000 miles. Advisor told me there were few rav4 that would actually have a recall of mixing coolant into the transmission, he said (John). He will tell the technician to put pressure on the coolant system to see any leak. I dropped off the car on a Thursday evening and picked up on a Monday. Just to give them enough time to actually check it. He called me on Friday saying it was ready and that no leaks were found and they topped of with new coolant. When I picked it up, I noticed that the coolant was at the exact same level as I left it with. I am certainly not coming back to this dealership, I can't trust them anymore. The maintenance for the this car is paid off with a toyota extended warranty, so I will also get in contact with toyota to make them aware 9f the practices this dealership has..

While I understand the current constraints on the the auto industry, I'm disappointed that this has reduced concern for customer service at San Marcos. A simple text message or call could have saved my family the rest of the trip, with no ill regard. $3000 markup aside, I recommend taking your business to a better dealership.

Purchased 4Runner back in December 2020. 2/5 experience due to my finance perspective. John Austin Salesman 5/5, took the time to explain my options and purchase to me. However, Cowen Wilson (Finance Manager) destroyed what was supposed to be one of the happiest events to happen for me despite the height of COVID and being an ER nurse in the midst of it. I was truly taken aback by his sour attitude and lack of patience to help me understand financing on my very first vehicle purchase. I felt like my questions/concerns were being laughed at. If I was his daughter, I am sure he would not want her treated as he treated me. I even told my salesman I no longer wanted to speak to him further and for him to figure it out, which John did and I was thankful. After seeing the shortages at toyota competitors, we were happy to see they had plenty of used vehicles to choose from. We will be back to San Marcos Toyota for our next vehicle! This would be a perfect 5 stars but... the dealership forced us to buy a GPS tracking system for $999.00 with our purchase. They also did not have two sets of fab keys. So they offered to cut a spare with no buttons free of charge. Thats great, but you can only make an appointment around 10am on a Wednesday for the key to be made.

Do not do business with San Marcos Toyota. My husband communicated all week with a salesperson about a Sienna we were interested in. We set a time to see the car as we live over an hour away. The morning of our appointment, we get a call that it was sold the previous night. They NEVER told us our appointment would not hold the vehicle. They don't do deposits there to hold cars (which most other Toyota dealerships do) but it was NEVER communicated to us that we had the chance to lose out on the car. Why did they not tell us this? We would have made arrangements to come sooner. Again, do not give this dealership your business/money. For how much cars cost, you deserve better upfront business practices. Extremely disappointed!

I know mistakes happen, but it's how people go about correcting them that makes the difference. I had my 2021 hybrid taken to them because I thought they would be most able to fix my new car which was involved in hit and run. I had to go to another dealership for them to help me have them finish their work. They gave me the car back with the door ajar and they didn't want to put the clear cover back on or the door guards, they did replace the hub cap. Then they told me it would take two months for them to come in. Thankfully I went to the other dealership and they gave me the paper work to show they could have it in 2 days. Ps: They did already charge the insurance company for all the details. Or I would have gone somewhere else to complete the work. TAKE lots of Pictures before and After of everything!
Elizabeth – Thank you for brining your concerns to our attention and we apologize for any miscommunication with our team. At the time you dropped off your vehicle our Collision Center Estimator informed you the door edge guards for your vehicle did not have an ETA in the system and you agreed to have clear door edge guards installed instead. However, when you picked up your vehicle, you stated you did not like the clear door edge guards and asked us to replace them with the color matched door edge guards. We agreed to do so, noting there was still no ETA in our parts system for availability. When the part was released from back order, you brought your vehicle in and we replaced the door edge guards. Checking with another dealer at that time would indeed show they are available in 2 days as the part was released from back order. We agreed to install the clear shield at a future time as a courtesy because you needed your vehicle back due to you believing your rental coverage had expired. And yes, at the same time we installed the clear shield we did replace the hub cap at no charge to you and covered 12 days of your rental at our expense, not knowing if insurance would reimburse the additional days of rental expense based on your understanding of your rental coverage. We did our best to provide you a good experience handling both of the claims on your vehicle simultaneously and are disappointed to hear you did not feel it was a good experience. We will use your candid feedback in training with our team.

Had an AMAZING experience at San Marcos Toyota last night! Went in just expecting to show my husband the two vehicles I was between, and left with my dream car! Charles Shaw helped me test drive a couple weeks ago and was an absolute pleasure to deal with- he never once pressured me or pulled some kind of sales tactic. He knew he wasn't going to make a sale that day but that did not stop him from going above and beyond to show and explain everything the car had to offer, and explained all the differences between the models. Not going to lie, a couple days later I went to another Toyota dealership to test drive a different car because it was closer to me and did NOT have the same experience. I told my husband that no matter what, I would rather order and have to wait on a car and go with Charles at San Marcos Toyota, than to go back to that other dealership. Charles AND the finance department were absolutely amazing! I recommend 10/10!! Now, I just hope their service department can keep up their reputation. :)

Clowns here. Offered me the lowest yet on my 2015 Scion Tc 9.0 release that are limited with a little around 2,000 made. Tried to pull off that because of the color, no one wanted it. Carvana sure did for $17,000 compared to this place just under $10k

Was told part not covered by my warranty ok fine, a week later call to check on car was told part not ordered yet waiting on approval,WTH now told ordered part 2 weeks ago, car has only been there 13 days. I need my car back fixed asap. Very 😞☹️
Theresa - Your vehicle service contract provider stated the part was not covered due to having exceeded the limits of your policy, however, after you contacted your vehicle service contract provider they reached out to our dealership and let us know the part would be covered (way to go!). At that point, we ordered the part with the vehicle service contract provider's approval. The part is on back order, which is out of our control, however, we will continue to keep you updated on its arrival and get you back in your vehicle as soon as possible.

Bought a Tundra from them last year. The team is very streamlined and responsive. They do not waste your time and from the minute you walk in they move fast to get you in and out with the best deal possible. I went today and tried to work a deal on a forerunner. Although we couldn't work the deal, they made it painless and the staff is very professional. I still believe they are the best place to buy a Toyota in the SA area.

Be careful or you will get taken to the cleaners like me. I went in to get a deal in a lease. Needed a car right away and did not do enough research. They took me to the cleaners. Said the advertised lease wasn’t available and offered me a ‘deal’ which basically means I’ll pay $14k for the right to use the truck for 3 years. Total rip-off. Stay away unless you are willing to play hardball and come prepared.

I had my college aged son take his vehicle for an oil change and to check out noises that were coming from the brakes. My service report said that the brakes were still at a rating of 9. My son kept complaining over the next week that the brakes were worrying him so my husband and I drove to his college and picked up the car. We could not even make it back to our home because the brakes were actually barely working and the noise was getting worse every time we stopped. We had the car towed to a Lexus dealership and it turns out there was no brake pads left and it was grinding into the metal rotors. I asked if the brakes could have gone from a 9 to a zero in less than a week and they replied no way. This tells me that the service technician at SM Toyota did not ever even check his brakes. There is no way anyone could have driven the vehicle from a service bay to the check out area and not been able to hear this noise. Not to mention that Lexus found that the two front tires were completely bald on the inside tread. I had scheduled my son's appointment at San Marcos Toyota because I thought he would get superior service at a dealership and we are very disappointed.

I’ve had a few bad experiences with this service department. I took my Rav 4 in for a few things about 4 months ago. They were friendly but obviously unorganized. After servicing the A/C, oil & Lube, and inspection, they told me my brakes needed replacing but it could wait 3000 miles or so. They ordered a part for my console and said it would be there in a week. I was going to have the brakes fixed when they call me with the console part. They never called and two weeks later the car wasn’t drivable due to the brakes. I had the brakes fixed elsewhere. A month and 1/2 later they call to tell me the console part was in. They told me a price that was 3X more than the initial quote. I explained that wasn’t what I was quoted and she said she’d have the service guy call me which still has not happened. I recently made an appointment because my check engine light came on. I never received confirmation so I called in to check. The lady told me “Yes, I show your appointment for the Rav 4” I told her the appointment was for my Corolla. She said, tomorrow we are booked. We can schedule you for Monday. I said , I have a repair appointment for the engine light, why do I need to wait til Monday when I have a appointment in the morning. What difference does it make what car I’m bringing, it’s for the same issue. She said it takes more time, I said, I’ll take my car somewhere else. I have 2 Toyota’s and rather drive to Austin than go here ever again!
