Navy Federal Credit Union Reviews

Mortgage services provided to retired Veteran was absolutely awful. They do not care about losing you as a customer, they feel confident that there is another military customer right behind you happy to use their services. NFCU is handed military member after military member. My advice is to go to a company that works hard for your business and not just handed your opportunities because they are affiliated with the military.

I have been a loyal customer of NFCU for over 16 years now and I am searching for another institution. The customer service is a joke and they won't be able to solve any issues that you have. They used to treat military with respect, but now they are just like any other big bank out there.

we've been members for more than 30 years. I just saw an ad for your VISA card. we stopped using your VISA card for many purchases, despite having used it for most purchases for many years. the reason that we stopped is your VISA card statements which provide an option to pay more than the monthly charges. why would anyone pay ahead of the charges for the month resulting in a credit for future charges? we find this practice to be deceptive, misleading and not in the interest of your members.

I visited this branch yesterday after school because it was 6 minutes from my school and I wouldn't make it to the navy federal close to my house due to traffic. I have been with navy federal for a while and have never gotten this treatment. I sold my car and was given a check to deposit into my account, the teller Yvonne told me that my check will be held for 5 days before it will be deposited into my account. I asked her why and she told me thats what they do. Now I've cashed many checks at navy federal and NEVER heard of this, I asked her if she could show me where it states that in their policy and she said its not in their policy they only do that at their branch... which is ridiculous and doesn't make any sense. I then get a receipt that states something about how the check has to be reviewed because they have to make sure it's legit something around that. I know I was in a predominantly white area but I am a Nurse and I wouldn't come in a branch with a fake check. I saw how everyone who was not african american deposit checks with no issue. For her to be black herself I am disgusted at her approach and senseless explanation that she gave me. I asked her if she's doing this because I'm black she say I'm black too but that doesn't mean anything apparently because the manager was confused when I told her what yvonne stated and had to apologize on her behalf. I can't believe the service I received. she asked me so many unnecessary questions about that check that was none of her business. The manager Heather was really nice and able to explain everything to me. Never again will I attend here.

I have been a proud member of the Navy Federal Credit Union for decades. Their website is informative, transparent, up to date and user friendly. Log in procedures online are secure and streamlined. Their services are all inclusive. This credit union excels in customer service. Secure messages are answered promptly and issues and/or questions answered quickly. Easy to reach via phone and all representatives I have ever spoken to have been respectful, courteous, friendly and extremely knowledgeable in their field of expertise. I live in a rural area. The only reason I do not take all my banking needs online with this company is their lack of an ATM in my area. One can expect nothing less than exceptional service from navyfederal.org.

I have been a member of Navy Federal for over a decade, ever since I left boot camp. I recently filed a fraud claim, which Navy Federal determined was absolutely valid, and I was happy that it was resolved in a timely manner. However, Navy Federal chose to punish ME for the fraud that occurred on my account. Hitting me with "We've decided that you're a risk and you will not be allowed to use a debit card for any account for at least a year." I'm sorry, WHAT? Screw these guys, stick with a real bank who wants to actually serve veterans, not this one.

My husband and I have always had good customer service with Navy Federal Credit Union, as he's been with them for over 20 years, so naturally we were horribly disappointed when that customer service didn't extend to their mortgage and loan department. Our loan officer, Amanda Anthony, did not obtain the proper documents from us or call us to discuss our application before review, even after we called her (after immediately submitting our application) and asked for a call back to discuss. We also reached out to her supervisor asking for additional guidance, never heard back. It took us multiple communication methods with NFCU general customer service to finally get a random supervisor on the phone who sent our concerns back to the loan officer and her supervisor. It's been 4 weeks and we have yet to get a call back to discuss the status of our application. If you need a home loan, don't use NFCU.

Im a business owner so i often need my bills exchanges in big transactions over 3k minimum. Im very careful with my counting so there wont be any flaws on my end. I had bad experiences with all the other branches dealing with big bills and transactions, and im always short $100 from times. So i stop going to the small branches and only using the HQ because i trust them more and they dont even have to count the bills infront of you and they dont need to because they got nothing to hide base on honesty. Today, i got Molly and that trust just went out the door. I think from now on i will just have to go there more often so i dont have to deal with big transactions so people's greed can be subdued.

If Navy Federal Credit Union thinks it can steal from you & get a way with it. I told the Federal Reserve Board about NFCU not credited someone I paid. The Federal Reserve Board contacted NFCU. NFCU & the lawyer it hired chose to lie to the US Courts to cover that up. The internet recorded everything as it happened.

Was just charged $20 by NFCU due to their Optional Overdraft Protection Service, which I never wanted. Their checking interest rates are basically zero. NFCU even charges fees if you enter the wrong PIN at an ATM! Avoid this firm. USAA and Ally are two great sources for checking accounts.

I have zero ways to contact and individual Branch regarding if they received the title to my vehicle to refinance it. Instead I might have to drive 5 hours to the branch to find out. I have received Zero updates ZERO calls, emails not as much as a f you. Sat on the phone with customer service for an hour on hold.

Great service from the staff when the comprehensive NFC web site or answer bot can't provide the information. The few times I did need to talk to a rep my issue was resolved in minutes. So glad I changed to this bank as my primary. I never felt the motivation to say anything good about my previous banks.
