Los Angeles Police Federal Credit Union - Van Nuys Branch Sherman Way, Van Nuys

Posting this review while I'm number 15 in line to speak to a member services rep. Not the first time. I have found more competitive rates at other credit unions and moved my money there. No local facilities in Camarillo, Ca.

We are in Mexico and haven't been in this Branch for 20 years. All we can say is that whenever we need to call, the service is wonderful and the help to solve our problem is amazing. Thanks

Over the last thirty years, LAPFCU has gone from a reliable, well managed organization to a tragic shadow of its former self. It is just a nightmare to deal with these days. No one answers the phone, their website barely functions, and the personnel seem to struggle with the most basic questions. How in the world did it get this bad?

Went there to open a checking which I use to have with them several year ago! Sad and unfortunate most of the tellers have gone or better yet, moved on! This place has really gone down; luckily for me, they didn’t want to grant me a debit card for something that happened over 8 or nine years ago! I just went to WESCOM and opened up a checking there. Much cleaner, updated and professional. They are also open on Saturday’s unlike LAPFCU! I don’t know who’s calling the shots at LA.....but their service and banking hours suck not to mention, they need to be introduced to the 21century! Good Luck

I work during the week, I work 12hrs a day. Not a lapfuc near me in canoga park. My free time is weekend, which I used to normally go on Saturdays. Now I have to skip or leave work really early and try to make time for traffic and the waiting period depends on how many people go when I decide to go.. it would be really nice to have Saturdays open again.

Los Angeles Federal Credit Union probably one of the worst credit unions out in California. If you read there FAQ, the information is not even correct. They show under there car loans a APR of 1.49-3.00% which the 3.00% is max at 84 months and the 1.49 is at 48 months with only a single disclaimer on there 1.49% APR. ALL OF THIS INFORMATION IS NOT EVEN CLOSE TO WHAT THEY REALLY OFFER. If I knew I would never have applied. After application you get ding 3 points on your credit score and take a full 3 days to get back to you. Which it is only then you find out the correct information. Anything that is 60 months or over, no matter what you credit is qualified at 4%. at 48 months do you get 3%. This is what I was told over the phone and the best they were able to do is take out .5% for a direct withdrawal if I opened up a savings and a checking account keeping a combine 60 dollars in them and a 5 dollar registration fee. YEA NO!!!!! Now lets get together with wescom credit union. Application and approval of loan right over the phone in less than 15 minutes at a 1.74% APR. No fee to open accounts you just need to hold $1 in your saving account. If you are thinking of doing anything with Los Angeles Federal Credit Union think twice about the info they give you. It may very well be completely out of date.

Within the last couple years the service has declined. All branches are closed weekends and the wait time over the phone has shot up. It's obvious the higher ups are making cuts, its a shame because all the employees are very nice. But I will be looking for a new credit union.
