Allow me to explain 4 years ago they were preferred lender for my development. They proposed two different options that they presented favorably. After shopping around, within 3 days I had two other lenders (Chase, City Creek Mortgage) who were ******$6,000-$7,500 LESS******* in closing costs AND a better interest rate Tonight I spoke with a friend who had a similar experience — he got ******$8,000 LESS***** AND nearly a quarter of a point less interest rate shopping around. First colony still tried to still win my friends business by calling themselves “delta” and others “frontier”. What a joke. Moreso a lie. Honestly it makes me feel physically sick to my stomach whenever a friend of mine says they serviced their loan through First Colony. I know they probably spent $5,000+ of hard earned Post-tax money just because they’re polite and a known brand. I’ve always tried to help my friends but after hearing a second case as egregious as mine I hope to help some stranger save money. Whatever you do ***shop your quote around***

First Colony Mortgage provided one and only one service to me which was providing money for my loan. The service, experience and everything about the company was terrible. I would definitely NOT recommend this mortgage company to anyone! They were incredibly unresponsive and never returned my calls. I had to continually reach out in order to get the information that I needed. The only way to get ahold of anyone was through email. So I guess if you prefer email, they are fine. They were careless about my personal information and when I actually read the fine print of all the documentation and started asking questions about why certain things were being required of me, they never answered my questions. Instead, I would get an email from a supervisor who would very rudely tell me that I just had to give me that information because they needed it without any explanation as to why. In addition to that, ever since I closed I am constantly getting spam and I have a hard time believing that First Colony did not have a part in it since they were not understanding about my concerns with my personal information.

My wife and I are first time home buyers, and chose to work with First Colony Mortgage based on a very strong recommendation, and I am glad we did! My wife and I worked specifically with Travis Van Noy, and had a fantastic experience. All we heard from family and friends was how stressful the home buying process can be, however with Travis and the First Colony team we had an easy, stress free experience. It was a pleasure to work with them, and we would absolutely choose them again. If you are starting the home buying process I would definitely recommend working with Travis and the First Colony Mortgage team.

Travis at First Colony Mortgage always is friendly, professional and gets the job done. He helped us quickly get our loan on our home, and also helped us refinance a year later when the rates dropped significantly. I've got 3 loans through First Colony. They were able to get me good rates, but not without a good bit of effort on my part for one. Their lack of communication was infuriating on a number of occasions. I get I'm just supposed to trust what they are doing but that's not how some things work. If you're spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on a home, communicating what's happening with the loan and what you are actually buying is very important for me. My realtor had to explain my last loan details to me, luckily he's an amazing realtor.

Our realtor recommended this company and spoke very highly of them. We went in feeling optimistic. However, communication has become virtually nonexistent. We've been unable to speak to anyone over the phone and e-mails go unanswered. When we do get a response, they're either wanting information we have already sent, or they want to speak via phone. Even when giving them a date that we're available, we can't seem to connect. Very disappointing.

I worked with Mandy Crosman and she was amazing! She was always very quick to respond even if she was away from work. She got my wife and I a great interest rate and was very helpful in making everything transparent so that we knew exactly what we were doing throughout the whole process.
