    My wife and I used Better.com for a home refinance. The entire process was very streamlined and efficient. We put in a request for loan estimate on 12/17...waited until 12/26 to lock in my rate and start the official documentation process...and we had our close on 1/14. Pam Craig was our mortgage agent and she was on top of the process the whole step of the way and answered our questions quickly and thoroughly. If you're in the market for a mortgage, you'd be doing yourself a disservice if you didn't let them give you a quote. Cheers!

    I had a great experience with Better Mortgage in refinancing my property. The process was very efficient and straightforward, I didn't even have the need to call or talk to my Loan Officer. Everything went pretty fast and I am impressed with their loan portal/dashboard as you can leave a comment on each document you uploaded and they respond from there as well. I guess that's what makes it very efficient that they have this interactive feature on every document uploaded, other mortgage companies don't have that. Also, the whole team is really good at following up either by email, voicemail or text, whatever it takes to get the process going. I am extremely satisfied and happy with the entire process, so yes I am absolutely recommending Better Mortgage if you are planning to purchase or refinance your home, do not look elsewhere.

    My sister recommended Better Home Mortgage after she refinanced with them while overseas on vacation. She told me that this company made everything seamless and it is in fact true. The entire process was great and the staff was patient, helpful, polite and knowledgeable. I would recommend and use them again. All you need to do is complete your online tasks timely, by uploading required documents, and before you know it, you're closing. Cudos to Kaitlin Holliday who worked with me all the way.     I recently refinanced my home for the first time and I used Better.com because they offered the best rates. Unfortunately the stress of refinancing was made exponentially worse by using an internet based mortgage company. I experienced poor customer service throughout the process. It was very difficult to get a hold of my servicing representative directly. The communication delays persisted through the process and made every step more difficult. Every time I called I had to wait to receive a call back. I would be told I would get a call right back and it would be the next day before I could hear from my representative. Going through a process like this, being able to have consistent communication with the mortgage lender service is crucial. I received multiple email communications from my lender representative (Hunter) but that is not always the most effective way to get quick answers of fully understand a situation. There is a dashboard where you can see the progress of the loan but again when questions would come up about things entered on my dashboard I could not reach my representative. I used the immediate assistance they offer on the dashboard but was always told that they would bring my concern to my team and my representative would get back to me the next day; which would not happen. These communication issues only delayed the process. I had scheduled the closing and notary services only to find out that there was a document on my dashboard that was not signed yet and they could not proceed with the scheduled closing because of this. The document happened to be an old estimate that had already been updated and signed. I would never think on my own to sign the old, incorrect one and there was no guidance to do this, so my closing was delayed to the next week. It was so bad that on the day of closing I had questions about an inconsistency on one of the documents and brought it to my representatives attention. He said he would check with the team and call me back. I was waiting to hear back from my representative (Hunter) for almost 2 hours, even up until the notary was present. I was put on hold multiple times and never received a call back from him. If the notary had not been able to resolve the concern I had, I would not have closed on that night. Even the notary commented on what a shame it was that they were keeping me on hold and not getting back to me. After closing, my loan was sold which I was aware that would happen. I had requested Wells Fargo which is my main bank and my representative stated that it should not be a problem since Wells Fargo is one of the lenders they sell the loans to. Of course, they sold it to some other lender who now charges a fee for online payments. This process should have been much easier than it turned out to be. I will never use this company in the future.

    Great overall experience. Quick, easy, painless refinance. Full transparency on the easy-to-use website. Wonderful home advisor (Morgan). Easy instructions on what documents to upload and when, along with a clear explanation of what was needed and why. Three weeks from start to finish. Great rates, great experience. Highly recommend!

    I have just refinanced with Better.com because of all the good review they got on line. I don't know how on earth many financial websites give them top notch rating, I don't know why many users give them 5 stars. After I got my refiance done with them, I quickly learned that Better care nothing for their customers neither their employees (I think everybody know this now after Better fired thousand of their employees via zoom). My loan was quickly sold to Fay Service LLC, which is a vulture financial company. During the process, first Better sent me a letter asking me to pay mortgate directly to Fay; few weeks later Better sent another letter telling me not to pay mortgage to Fay but continue to pay to TMS, a subsidiary of Better, which service the loan. Then I finally got a letter from Fay, but without any bill nor loan number so I can pay my mortgage. I can Fay and waiting many hours without any one pickup the phone. Fay just want to make it hard for their customers to pay back the loan, so they can charge late fee. If you are looking for a mortgage loan or refiance, stay away from Better.

    Better=WORST really bad customer service, in lieu of rising interest rates Worst Mortgages held up our appraisal 1.5 weeks, initially telling us that appraisal w as never done... then magic ---right after the Fed raised rates...appraisal appeared (WOW) cheaper than the property value (appraiser is not from neighborhood, more from a hood where homes are way cheaper at current market conditions) You better off without Better!! Save yourself money and nerves, they are alsobad at getting things ready in time forclosing (as per our agents experience with Worst mortgages previously) We only went with these guys cheaper of lowest rates, now we are priced outof tbe market die tether monkey business with stalling application process.

    I refinanced my home loan with Better and they're not just better, they're the best. The process is very simple and straightforward. All the information, forms and questions are displayed in a clear and concise way. There is a very good and simple tracking system for open issues (tasks). It was easy for me to know when the ball was in my court and when it was in theirs. I would use Better again and I highly recommend them to others.

    This is a horrible mortgage company. I really regret I did business with them. After they charge me $500, then they decided to drop my application. So I lost my $500. To add insult to injury, the loan office assigned to me eventually told me she's not licensed to do business in California where I reside. This company and it's agent are DESPICABLE !!!

    Truly a great experience to work with Better.com on my refinance. Within 15 minutes of submitting my application I had someone contact me and ask if I had any questions. At that point their website clearly showed me my options with specific rates and monthly payments, break evens, cost of points etc. After uploading my documents there was a balanced amount of communication on where we stood. I was able to roll all of the closing costs (which were below the other lenders amounts) into the new loan. Within 2 weeks we went from application to an in home closing that was a breeze. I highly recommend Better.com if you are looking to refinance.

    I found Better Mortgage to be a great way to do my refinance. Very streamlined and easy to negotiate through the required tasks. The tasks for me to fulfill were very clear and concise.     I cannot say enough good things about the team I had at Better for my recent refinance. From the start, the team was very communicative and helpful every step of the way. The online portal was very easy to navigate, it was very time-saving and convenient to be alerted via email whenever I had a new task to complete. Each transition to the next team was seamless and, again, the customer service could not have been better. The closing was at my convenience (less than a month) and I was given a calendar on which I indicated my availability- including an early Saturday morning. I have already recommended Better to friends and family and thanked my team members at each step of the way for making this painless. Not a word you are supposed to associate with any transaction of this type.

    Better met or exceeded my expectations for my refinance. I loved being able to see the rates online. Communication was great and I was able to submit all of my documentation through their easy to use online portal. Most importantly they had the lowest fees and closed my loan within 3-4 weeks, which probably would have been faster if I had been able to schedule the appraisal sooner (my choice). Would definitely recommend.

    Better was the easiest loan process I have ever been through. I came across them when researching highly rated companies for our refinance and couldn't be happier. They have a very simple online application process but do not hesitate to provide personal service with a member of your designated team. Their responses were prompt and helped move our refinance through in an amazingly rapid fashion when other groups were quoting us months for closing. We were very pleased with the minimal and always transparent costs; appraisal process, etc. Thank you to our team - Lydia, Dylan, Richard and Grace; and everyone else who supported behind the scenes. Will use again if we every have the need and highly recommend to others!!

    Excellent company for refinancing. They were very transparent with all the info. I liked the fact that i was able to pick the loan terms at my convenience. The refinance rates were very competitive and I didn’t have to deal with the hassle of negotiating a “better” mortgage rate. I saw what the rates were and able to lock it with a payment for appraisal and click of a mouse (in my case my appraisal fee was refunded after i closed as my property didn’t require an appraisal). I was able to close my loan with just one meeting in person. There was no hidden fees and unexpected cost. They outline all the cost associated with the refinance in the loan estimate. In the beginning my loan estimate seemed high, but by the end, my final loan estimate was on par and in-fact below national averages for refinance costs. I am very happy with the service provided by Better.com. One thing to keep in mind, Better.com does not service your loan. They sell your loan to a 3rd party. This review is for my experience with Better.com only.

    I had a great experience getting a loan for an investment property with Better Mortgage. The online process was efficient and frictionless. It was easy to e-sign documents and upload documents and check off tasks as you go. The interest rate was better than another competitor that I checked as well. The whole process could not have gone better and I will use Better Mortgage again for my next purchase.

    Mark Abing and the Better team were simply fabulous. Right from the point of locking my rate, they kept me informed of every next step. They worked all through to maximize my credits. Whenever I needed to talk to Mark, I got him. If he were on another call, someone on the better team would actually find him and have him call back based on my convenience (one time, calling me back after hours). When they said they would fix something, they actually did. This is my second refinancing experience with Better Mortgage and honestly, I won't go anywhere else.

    Fantastic experience from beginning to end. My initial contact was with loan consultant Justin Kelley, he was knowledgeable, responsive, and extremely patient in answering the questions that I had (he continued answering texts from me up to the day before our signing). Once we applied the file was handed to Michael Richardson, and the excellent service and attentiveness continued. Michael moved swiftly through the process and also communicated often to ensure we knew what was needed from us. Finally, Samuel Hewitt worked to close the loan, and he picked up right where Michael left off to get us closed quickly. Awesome team! As far as the process goes, the dashboard and task manager made it very easy to follow where we were every step of the way, and if I'm being honest it was kind of fun to check off the tasks as we went. Thank you to everyone involved, and thanks to Better.com for providing an excellent experience!

    It was our first time refinancing our mortgage and we were unfamiliar with Better.com, so we were hesitant to use Better in the beginning. We were originally going to stick with our mortgage provider, but every search we did online returned Better.com as the best firm with the best rates and easiest application process. We then trusted our gut and decided to go with Better especially since they do not have any extra loan origination costs and they offered the best rates. And boy, we were not disappointed! The entire application process was done through their website, which we thought was very intuitive and super easy to use. You receive email notifications anytime you have pending tasks or documents needed to be uploaded. You can also directly email or call your loan processing and closing representatives anytime you needed assistance. We were very, very impressed with their customer service, which is also one of the main reasons I'm giving them five stars. Our loan processing expert, Lauren, was very helpful throughout the application, and our closing expert, Lan, helped us have a seamless closing. Both ladies were very responsive and attentive to our needs, and were also very present during the entire process. We did encounter a specific issue that took longer to resolve (and ended pushing back our closing), but Better extended our lock expiration date at no cost and most importantly, our customer service reps always kept us apprised of the issue. Overall, I am very, very satisfied with my experience with Better.com -- refi rates, application process, customer service, closing costs -- and would definitely recommend this firm to family and friends!! If you do not want headaches and you want to get the best mortgage rates possible, then Better is the way to go.

    I have been very satisfied with Better Mortgage. Everything from start to close was very smooth. I was very nervous about using an online company, but they have made me believe that there may be a better way to complete a transaction. I still feel uncomfortable about their use of The Money Source during the transition of our loan. The Money Source has many poor reviews. I am unclear as to why they are aligning themselves with this company. I am hoping to have the transition be a smooth one and that the servicing of our loan will be a great experience.

    I was highly satisfied with the refinance process with Better mortgage. I did have to submit many forms, but I believe that is standard across the industry. The online process was very convenient and my loan officer was responsive to all my inquiries within a timely manner. He was also helpful in explaining details that I needed clarification on. The entire process took about a month from start to finish. I would highly recommend this mortgage broker.

    Refinanced through Better.com to take out some cash from equity and it was a pretty smooth experience. Applied on 8/27, signed on 9/25, funds dispersed on 9/30 so pretty quick if you have all the necessary documentation on hand. Handled almost entirely through the website, which lists your tasks as they come up during the process. I liked attaching documents to the task on the website versus sending documents via e-mail.

    Refinancing with Better.com was absolutely the best and seamless refinance experience we have ever had. I loved how the entire process is online in a very easy to follow format. The site keeps you informed on what to do next and what docs to upload. Even the closing was super easy. We were travelling at the time of closing and Better.com arranged for a mobile notary to come to our bed & breakfast to sign all the papers. Everything went without any snags. I highly recommend Better.com and will most definitely work with them again. Their representative Victoria Rollins was a treat to work with throughout the process. She kept us informed and answered all of our questions expeditiously. If you are comfortable with an all online experience, you will love their service. The entire process from start to finish was done in 3 weeks and we got a great rate at near 2% on a 30 year.

    I enjoyed the ease of working with Better.com. From beginning to end, the process was well laid out and the email notifications were timely. Though most of it is web-based, if there was ever a concern or a question came up, I was able to schedule a meeting with my mortgage broker rep. Highly recommend this for those who are at least somewhat familiar with the process. It was maybe three weeks from time of rate lock to having the final disclosure in hand.

    I had a pretty bad experience recently. I think Better.com is great as long as everything goes perfectly and you don't actually need anything from the people they assign. In my recent refinance, I was sent a loan estimate via e-mail and locked the same day. The website had an issue where it didn't reflect my correct mortgage balance, but it was not a field that could be edited, so I locked the rate and immediately contacted the person assigned to my loan to have them fix the issue on their end. This is where the problems began. After multiple e-mails with no response, two weeks later I finally had to schedule a call with the person assigned. Of course it only took him a few minutes to correct the issue. They even 'processed' a loan payoff statement supposedly for an amount tens of thousands less than what I actually owed, which I again had to ask them to correct. Eventually the 'changes' to the loan amount (due to website error originally) then forced an appraisal which was originally waived. It took 5 e-mails over 6 days to the better.com person on my loan before they would confirm the appraisal would not be at my cost. The day they confirmed the costs, I scheduled the appraised. Then after that he stated that the rate lock had expired, and because I didn't schedule the appraisal immediately (even though he didn't respond to me for many days regarding the costs), I would have to pay over $1500 in extension fees. I ended up not moving forward with the loan because I was frustrated with the process. I had every task completed quickly and overall a very clean loan. The bottom line is that if you have a super clean loan, then their rates are good, but if the slightest thing needs human intervention, then it's going to take forever and they'll blame you for the delay.

Best rate on refinancing, least expensive closing costs when comparing to other lenders, easy to use client portal to upload all docs & see status of process at any time, very friendly customer service team/home advisor. Never heard of them until I googled them on bank rate comparison site, but glad I chose them and was able to refinance in 30 days and saved a lot. Thank you Better for a great experience.

    Second time using Better.com for my real estate financing. They consistently offer the best rates and lowest costs available on the market, and also they do match serious competing offers if you find a better one. They did it for me, easily. The former alone is a good reason to use Better.com, add to it superb services, a 100% process that in my opinion is best in the industry and excellent teams that help every step of the way and that I found responsive, knowledgeable and very effective.     For me the best mortgage refinance experience. The team I worked with was extremely professional, responsive, transparent and to the point. They gave me realistic timelines, timely informed me on the next steps, and kept my expectations realistic. Their online app makes everything so much easier and you know exactly where you are at in the process, as well if there is anything else that you need to complete to help move the process forward.     Honestly, I was skeptical at first- going with one of those “internet lenders”, but Better Mortgage is legit. Just look at their website- it’s so well designed and so easy to navigate. They offered me a great refinance rate that I just couldn’t pass up. I took a leap of faith with them, and they totally delivered. So glad I did. I really don’t leave reviews for anything, but these folks really have figured out how to streamline the whole refinancing process. I had such a positive experience, that I’ll vouch for them any day. If you’re on the fence, just go for it, I really don’t think you’ll have any regrets.

    I would greatly recommend Better for those who are tech savvy and want a quick and low-hassle experience. We refinanced with them and were able to get the lowest rate I could find anywhere while keeping closing costs relatively low. I also loved how if my loan officer was not able to answer my call, someone else from their team was able to either clear my concern of leave a detailed message to my officer. Overall great experience!

    This company did a wonderful job of handling my refinance. My home advisor, Tyler Weisman, was incredible. He was knowledgeable, professional, patient, helpful and just made everything go smoothly. Tyler made me feel I made the right choice in using Better. I would recommend this company to anyone.     Better Mortgage lived up to their name and reputation. I obtained a loan for a rental property from them and the experience was smooth and frictionless. The online portal details the tasks that are needed as you go and you can e-sign and upload your documents in the portal. Also, the interest rate was a full percentage point lower than another quote I received from a different company. I highly recommend this company and I will use them again next time I need a mortgage.

    Amazing company for your real-estate needs. Brilliant and easy to use platform, and the support team/home advisor (Haley, Turner and team) is par excellence. Bravo ! Would highly recommend.     My over all Experience with Better was wonderful. They have single handedly brought the home buying experience into the 21st century. Elliot Wong who was our Loan Consultant Associate, was tremendous in getting us through this process. I don't know where we would have been at this point if it weren't for his guidance. The only note that I would add, is for Better to work on it's communication with Buyers who represent themselves because the process could be long and arduous. If this aspect were to change or updated, then Better would absolutely get 5 Stars All Day Long....Great product tough for all experience levels!

    I had a decent experience with Better. The centralized online platform is nice so you can see all your mortgage information and status of your application. It was still frustrating at times because reaching someone can be kind of difficult. You can generally reach the main desk and they say they'll pass on the message but you never really know if it reaches them. The closing team does not communicate well with your title company. My title company was trying to reach them about a discrepancy on their balance and they were silent until I called and emailed my mortgage advisor repeatedly. So if you do use Better, be sure to keep on top of them close to the closing date. All in all it was my first mortgage experience so from what I've heard its kind of similar to most and their rates are the best on the market right now at least in TX.

You must be tech savvy and ok with text and email communications to work with Better. This was ideal for us. A few small bumps with certain steps being too “automated” but definitely not a deal breaker. You can speed things up dramatically by being responsive to their requests. Even though I was thinking that this deal would not happen, this team was very positive and treated me fairly and was confident they could refinance my home.     My refinancing transaction with Better.com was an example of how I expect every mortgage bank should be at this juncture. The friendly, knowledgeable and helpful staff was always available by phone, text message, or online messaging. The website was outstanding for guiding the process, providing feedback, and uploading documents. I also used their title and closing partners, who were very competent and competitively priced. A very experienced notary came to my house for the closing and we were done in less than a half hour. Bottom line: we got a great rate, were guided every step of the way, had a rapid refinance, and a great closing. If you can locate, scan and upload documents then you should consider Better.com at the top of your list when you refinance.

    This was my third refinance experience and third home loan. The process and experience with Better was by far the easist, ( used my scanner and mobile phone to send all the documents) The emailed task lists were simple to follow, easy to upload forms and documents and easy to navigate. The step by step process kept it from getting overwhelming. My agent was always available to speak with ( I picked from a list of dates and times for him to call me) and he always called on time as expected. Closing was easy with the closer notary coming to me and knowledgeable explaining all the forms I was signing and the rest of the process. A+++++ 5 stars ***** all the way. Thanks.     The website is nice and easy to use, but that’s the only positive. Better made many mistakes with the paperwork throughout the process. Loan officer was difficult to reach and I would have to call into their main number to get ahold of anyone whenever I needed help. Loan officer also did not make updates he stated he would make. Had to follow-up multiple times and eventually call the main number to get updates made. I told them over 10 times I did not want any cash to borrower at settlement. I even followed up the day before closing to make sure it would be fixed. When they notary shows up, all of the paperwork was set to give cash back to borrow. Unbelievable. Once my loan was final, my first payment was over $600 higher than all the paperwork we signed. Had to spend a week trying to get them to fix their error of accidentally doubling the escrow payments when they sent the numbers to the money source. After they fixed that mistake, they accidentally charged the payment due date to be 30 days earlier. How can anyone run this type of business with all of these mistakes? After all of this, they send me a coupon to share with my friends to use Better.com. Not a chance I would ever recommend Better to anyone.

    I have refinance application with better mortgage started in August. Honestly, i am surprised with positive reviews. Its very frustrating experience. They dont respond to email or calls (you cant schedule a call with them because there calendar is booked for months). I am stuck with them now. No update on my application for a months. Not to mention I am still paying my higher interest rate on mortgage till this refinance is closed. My locked in rate is expiring in 2 weeks. I Doubt they will be able to close with them and need to look somewhere else.

    I started a refinance with my bank that I have been a customer of for over 20yrs in Nov 2020 and it still wasn't finished in March 2020. FYI it was people's united. While pleasant, I had to hound them because I wouldn't hear from them for over a week or two. Also, they waived nothing. Everything they wanted had to be exactly what the said even if what you uploaded had all the information. They were awful. I tried again to find someone online. All these companies really nail you to fill out forms to get the rates that end up not being good then harass you with constant calls. One independent review said Better was good especially if you are comfortable online. Gave them a try as 1 of 5 forms I filled out. I have bought 4 houses and had 1 refi and the process was so smooth right from the start. I heard back from my agent Tania very quickly after asking any question. The tasks make sense and they will pretty much do all the work for you if you allow it. There was a problem because one company wouldn't accept my e signature. No problem. A form was uploaded and all was good. It was a tiny bit weird to not have spoken to Tania but never needed to. However, she does always offer to call but she just took care of everything. It was a pleasure from start to finish. Whoever wrote the tasks also wrote not only plainly but it was like a friend nudging you along! I highly recommend them. If you require more handholding, they might not be the best choice but I still think it would be ok. My bank required someone to actually call but, even though they ask all kinds of questions, they will keep repeating them over again. A real time suck. Better is efficient, helpful, and quick. Started and closed in about 2 months or so. Give them a try!

    If there is a no star I would give that to Better.com. It has been very unpleasant experience with Better.com. Better is positioning themselves as online FinTech company which guarantees faster loans. If it is an online system, the system should be more robust without any financial errors. The system asked all my financial information and based on that it has provided the rate. I have even locked the rate with the points. After that agent came back and said the system is incorrect. If the system is incorrect, how can we trust this system and provide all confidential financial information. How can we know the system is storing that securely and we don't know what else processing issues it has. When I asked the question how system is incorrect, the agent went ahead and deleted the application without even notifying me. Worst company. You can't trust how your information is been treated.

    After several closing push backs we finally "closed" or so I thought. The closing was full of mistakes and now we are still waiting to close again after I already paid them the closing costs and I am still paying my original mortgage lender. It has been 2 1/2 months and still waiting. Better mortgage had the lowest closing costs but it is not worth the hassle. Simple information given to them several times was dismissed until after "closing". Edit: Now well over 3 months and still nothing. It would be nice if there was the same sense of urgency to getting the job done as there is when it comes to replying to reviews (without any actual help assisting with the problem).

    It's always a bit scary to use a completely online service for something like this, but I would do it again with Better, and would recommend them to others. The team was VERY responsive when I had questions, and the process itself (the ongoing task list) made it super easy to know what was left to do. The only thing I docked a star for was the closing as there were a couple of glitches with that. The closing date was moved several times (days, not weeks, but still), and then the first notary scheduled was a no-show. There was some other mix up as well that I still don't understand, but another notary said they were headed to my home to do the closing (or the same one?) and said I would need to print the 150 pages of closing documents when they arrived - literally telling me this less than an hour in advance. Like I said, they didn't show up so a new person was hired for a later day. That notary was AWESOME (and brought his own paperwork!). I wish I had been more properly prepared for that particular part of the process (how many people are sure to have printer/paper/ink for 150 pages?), but otherwise the whole thing, start to finish, was very easy and smooth.

    Unfortunately, 3rd time definitely not a charm! So much went wrong, I could write a short story. 1st=New Home Purchase 2nd=Refinance New Home 3rd=Help my Parents with Cash Out Refinance Here are my suggestions from experience: 1) Make sure to get at least 2-3 loan estimates. You can use credit karma to get an idea of what rates lenders will offer you. Pick the top 2 or 3 and complete each companies application. NOTE: Better does offer price/rate "match". However, that made 3rd experience worst... 2) Better is licensed in many states but are not the best when it comes to local state laws. If I ever use Better again I'll probably retain local lawyer to represent me and handle closing. If you decide to include escrow in your loan they will more than likely get it wrong. So either you will get a unexpected surplus check or letter explaining your account is short. 3) Prepare to potentially have your patience tested. Better like many other companies that grow really fast do not have enough experienced staff. So be prepared to provide the same or very similar information in multiple tasks. Attention to details lacking between Better team members.

    What a dream this refinance was compared with getting a very small home equity loan from two years ago. Better gives you only a few tasks at a time which takes the "overwhelm" factor out of it. I looked at 5 different refinance companies, this one did the best job in the beginning, the payments were only a few dollars more than the lowest and the up front cost was the lowest. Good experience start to finish. Loved that most of the interaction was web based. when I did talk to people, they knew what they where talking about. Better was fast too. It was only a few weeks from application to funding.

    We had tried to refi our FHA mortgage into a conventional loan to eliminate mortgage insurance and reduce our interest rate with another major mortgage company with no success. While the other company showed no interest in reviewing all our assets, Better used all information available to decide whether our loan can be approved. It was frustrating as we wanted to reduce our monthly payments and have great credit scores. From the first phone call with Better, we felt supported and in good hands. Our home advisor, Paige, was very patient and answered all our questions. She was quick to reply when additional questions came up. It was like she worked 24-hours a day and was with us every step of the way. The process itself was all web-based. Your account has tasks that you need to complete, such as acknowledging receipt of documents or submitting financial information. You can easily see what tasks were completed and what still needed to be done. Alerts let you know when new tasks are created. All documents were stored online in a well-organized manner. You could also download them. This made it easy to ensure we were able to stay on track and did not miss any steps. All of this combined to make this refi a relatively easy, pain-free process. I would definitely recommend Better and would use them again.

    We recently closed a purchase with Better. The Good The rates are great, cost is low and doing most of the tasks electronically is helpful. The Bad Once you lock the rate, communication is a problem. My agent, Title agency and myself all had issues getting in touch with my "Team". Most of the time I had to call the main line and wait to talk to them. E-Mails were unanswered several times and I had to call to get an answer. The Awful They dropped the ball during closing. They did not get the paperwork done on time. This caused the confirmed closing date to be pushed back. The sellers were not happy and were threatening to walk away. Even at this stage it was hard to get a hold of the main mortgage contact. The issues were finally resolved and they promised to give me a credit. More than a month later, I am still waiting for it. I have called several times and it's always someone else's problem. Next time, I would definitely compare with someone else that can keep their word. Update 11/8/2021 I am changing my rating to 1 star. After spending hours on the phone over a 2 month period and multiple people telling me the manager is looking into it and it's with another department, but we agree with you and we are trying to get you the money, Nick sends me an email (After I called and couldn't reach him because "He is in a meeting"- every time!) and says they cannot honor it because it's actually my fault. This despite the fact that he sent the original email accepting responsibility and saying that they missed the closing guarantee. This issue almost cost us the house!!! Update 11/30/2021 I opened a case with BBB. Was contacted by a representative from Better the next day. She was a lot more helpful and responsive than my "Team" ever was. The issues were resolved within a couple of weeks. I am changing my rating back to 3. I would still try them but be aware of the pitfalls.

    I obtained a good rate. The online process was mostly painless. The actual fees/expenses turned out to be less than expected, on the whole. The process was fairly transparent. Better is not very well equipped to handle judging importance versus check-the-boxes on several tasks. Better had difficulty explaining documents at Closing. It's messaging that is integrated with tasks is pretty poor. I found the document 'capture and archive' to be mediocre. If you are an average person, then you might not have issues with Better. If you have multiple accounts, more than on property, read contracts before you sign, or have a spouse on a different location, then you may need some patience.

    I had an overall great experience using Better Mortgage as my lender for a home purchase. The online experience was really great and pretty easy to use. It's very task-oriented which I really enjoyed. It kept me on track and I always knew what I had left to do. They have 24/7 support which is great, but if you need more specific help from your dedicated team, it can be a little hard to reach them if you have a pressing matter. Otherwise, you generally hear back on any question within 24 hours which was fine for me in most cases.

    This is a discount lender, so I later was told that that means there’s no loan officer working directly on your loan. So if your situation is complicated, you should expect to have WAY more tasks than normal. I didn’t realize that at first, and I was really frustrated with all the new tasks and issues that kept coming up. I even got pretty upset with my contact, but she was very professional and calm, and helped me get over it. So, we did have to put more down, and then pay a higher percentage for buying down the points. And then our discount was less than originally expected. But, still, they were so much cheaper that it was worth it to me. Also, my contact was VERY responsive. So, I would recommend them but people should be aware of what they’re getting into

I had one phone call with Michelle for like 20 mins in the beginning of our journey. I was able to communicate mostly by email on behalf of my mom which was extremely convenient. Michelle was super responsive- I didn’t wait hours for a response it was merely minutes. Great job Michelle! I’m super busy during the week so being able to do this mostly by email/online was a huge benefit! The portal is super modern and really intuitive.     I applied the better.com for my first mortgage. The rates and process are fair and straight forward. But there is are two catches.. 1) To lock the interest rate, the online application asked me to enter the credit card information...and said I have full control on the approval process and can withdraw any time without having to pay any charge. Soon I entered the credit card details, they took $550 towards my appraisal fee...I did not even approve to appraise my home...But still they took the money ...When I withdraw my application, I got to know about his deduction...When I asked to refund the fee, I was told that its not possible as the money is given to third party to do the appraisal...(which I did not even approve)... 2)When you want to talk to someone over phone, it will be very difficult to get...Many times you will be talk to a person who delivers a message that the loan officer will get back to you soon....But I never got a call. Updates: ********* After the google review, I was contacted by the Better.com team and they apologized for the inconvenience and refunded the $550 appraisal fee. They made note of the review comments and said they will update their software for the betterment of the customers. Thank you Better.Com for listening to the customer.

They wasted my time for four days, constantly requested duplicate information, failed to review documentation sent to them, and ultimately denied my application for refinancing despite excellent credit and a debt to equity ratio of 55% or less. Incompetently is the best way to describe the way that my application was handled. I will never do business with them again, and because they were "assisting" Ally Bank, I will close all of my online accounts with Ally. Not worth the effort - spend your time with another company. HORRIBLE!

    I'd been holding off refinancing our mortgage for a long time given how mind numbing and time consuming our two past mortgage origination experiences had been. This time I went with Better Mortgage due to their technology platform and their competitive rate and fees. I made the right decision! It was only 29 days between the start of the process and the money hitting our bank account. Better breaks everything down into bite sized tasks that are quick and easy to complete - mainly uploading documents or digitally signing forms. I would check the task list on my Better.com page morning and evening for new tasks to complete. We even have our house in a revocable living trust, which they dealt with easily. If rates go even lower I now won't dread refinancing because I can work with these guys. I highly recommend Better.

I never directly spoke with my coordinator and the refinance closed in 30 days - would have been less except a last-minute underwriting question came up (not unusual) and so the close was delayed a few days. The immediate responses from Better after uploading the application were outstanding - keeping me advised of the progress. The company has a very easy-to-navigate and intuitive website once a loan application is underway. The loan coordinator - Sam Schotl - was in touch with me regularly by email and that was fine with me even though there was an option to schedule calls. The company's fee structure is competitive with others out there, but the efficiency is as good as I've seen in the refinancing arena. It's been six years since I've done a refinance and the technology deployed has grown by leaps and bounds. I used Better's closing services. You do have an opportunity to shop it, but I'm a one-stop shopper in this scenario and I prefer to have it all taken care of and then just sign where needed. Anway, I highly recommend this company based on my experience.

    First time using an online Mortgage provider. Lots of information provided on the website. The usual overload of information involved with taking out a mortgage. Questions were usually answered promptly. Specific questions might not be answered in detail to help you understand completely. Be careful with signing any buyers contract that you do not fully understand. If you hear that it is "Standard", definitely do some research ... "Standard" is code word for ignorance and laziness. You will find things that you are not responsible for in closing costs added without you being fully aware. Lastly if you don't agree or fully understand ... walk away. Overall it was an interesting experience ... and be prepared to have your mortgage already sold by the time you reach closing. Would definitely use Better.com again.

    I just refinanced with better mortgage company. They gave me a great interest rate. I called what was my mortgage company at the time, and they weren't even close to the rate I got with better.com. The process was pretty easy. You just need to be able to upload documents with your computer. Closing was also easy, we had a notary come to our house to sign.

    Website usability was great and the process online was fairly streamlined. This was also the cheapest rate I could find, which was most important to me. Customer service was absolutely atrocious. The customer service representative I was provided was terrible all around. He always passed the buck on my questions, never actually answered any of my questions and was incredibly condescending throughout the process. If I wasn't getting such a good rate, I would have definitely used a different company. If you get a service rep named "Tyrell (AKA Ty)" ask for someone new ASAP.

    My wife and I closed on our first home and we chose Better Mortgage Company as our lender because it was just very simple to work with them. I could easily check the latest rates, get pre-approval letters when making offers on homes and do it online from my phone. When under contract, I could easily see where we were in the process, and what was required from me. I received a call and email every time we moved along to the next step of the process, and they’d let me know what to expect. When I had questions, I simply called or emailed and got an answer usually within a few hours, if not right away. Some friends told me that buying a home was incredibly stressful for them. I thought my experience was one of the smoothest I had ever had.

    *EDIT- Better Mortgage told us to email them below, however, I've yet to hear back. Great customer service. I initially went with Better Mortgage due to the lower costs compared to competitors, however, I have been extremely disappointed with the service I have received. The appraiser that was assigned to us, used 2020 comparisons in their initial report, and stated that there was a "lack of comparisons." For lack of a better word, this is laziness. The appraisal value was deemed well below what 2021 market values are right now. Our realtor then found adequate comparisons, and we sent them in for an appraisal dispute. The evaluations team agreed, and sent them to the appraiser for review. We were told that we would hear back from them within 24-72 hours, when in actuality, we did not hear back for about a week. The appraiser did not agree with then evaluations team, and when reading through their comments, it is clear that they are trying to avoid a "red mark" on their background. I believe that any decent appraiser would value the house at an appropriate market value versus what they have reported. By the time we received the initial appraisal report, to the results of the dispute, Better Mortgage has left us no time to find a new lender who can offer a decent appraisal. Our closing date is coming up in 2 weeks. I am very disappointed with Better Mortgage and their communication on this ordeal. Next time we need a lender and/or appraisal we will not being going with them and will definitely not recommend your services to anyone.

The website where you upload the required documentation is super easy to use. They use e-signing for most of the part, which cuts the time down a lot. Better.com beat all the offers that I received during my lenders shopping. The whole process from start to closing took only 25 days and can be done in even less time if you are ready and prepared all your documents in advanced. I signed the closing documents conveniently at my house. I had the best experience that I could ever imagine and Better.com was able to change my impression on how financing or even home buying process can be easy and not stressful at all. One more thing, during my shopping for lenders, all lenders told me that closing can take between 60 days to 90 days and there is no way to do it in less time, which Better.com proved them all wrong and made the closing in only 25 days.     The refinance process was easy and quick until it actually came time for Better to payoff my old mortgage. They sent two checks over the course of two weeks to the wrong address. They finally sent a wire payment after I kept badgering them nonstop about it but my mortgage was already past due at that point and my credit score has now dropped nearly 100 points. They should have sent a wire to start. I paid a wire fee in my closing costs for it. They gave me an Amazon gift card to try and make up for it but of course that doesn’t come close. Look for someone else to refi with.

    I just completed my refinance with Better.com. The process from start to finish was easy, fast and convenient. I had started an refi with another company and decided to shop rates. I shopped rates with several companies online including Reali, Revolution, RateRabbit and Rocket Mortgage.     We decided to re-fi our home to take advantage of the low rates and Better Mortgage gave us a quote for the lowest rate. It was a pretty cool and easy experience for the most part. It's nice that they create your own portal with "tasks" that allow you to upload all the documents and info that they need to underwrite your loan. it helps keep everything organized so you know what they need and you can keep track of what you have provided at every point along the way. Now, our loan process ended up taking a tad longer because we are complicated. Our designated Home Advisor, Stephanie Flores, helped us along the whole way...always available to answer questions, overcoming issues with the appraisal, the underwriter, and helping to escalate our file with her manager when needed. She was fantastic...professional, knowledgeable, and always on top of our file!!! Another cool bonus is we started with a loan rate of 3.125%, but, because the process took so long, they agreed to not only extend our rate lock, but, they actually dropped the rate to 3%! We used their recommended title and escrow, which were very competitive, and the notary who came to our house with the loan docs was fantastic! All in, it was about a 75 day process, but our loan just funded and we are very happy we chose Better Mortgage. Thanks to everyone who worked so hard to make this happen!!!

    What an absolutely phenomenal experience. I stumbled upon Better.com on a Saturday when I needed a pre-approval letter fast. A local lender was slow to respond and Rocket Mortgage’s process hit a snag and they took three days to follow up with me. With Better, I had exactly what I needed within five minutes. From there, the process only became more impressive. First, the transparency around the loan products. Being able to see the different rates, compare discounts and the points they’d require versus what I could get with credits — I was able to consume the information in my own time. The next impressive thing was the tasks list. I looked forward to seeing new tasks show up in my queue and I liked being able to address them ASAP. Finally, my agent LOVED being kept in the loop and getting copied on all relevant communications. It was great having so much take place without needing a human to intervene, but it was also nice to be able to talk to a person for support, when needed, as happened when I needed to ask a property tax question of my team. Their availability was great. I have already told many people about Better and can’t imagine how this “Uber of mortgages” will impact the outdated mortgage industry.

    I could not be happier with the job the Better mortgage team did refinancing my mortgage. The interest rate and closing costs were the lowest in the market. The online application and process was so simple and easy an old timer like me had no trouble completing the application in no time at all. Customer service was extraordinary and available 24x7 by phone or email. I have special praise for Samantha Stearley, she was the heavy lifter that worked directly with me. I am sure a lot of work goes on in the background that I am not aware of and I appreciate those efforts as well. I point out Samantha because she was so quick and responsive to all my concerns. The appraisal by a third party seem to drag out, but she followed up regularly and kept me updated. When I started to get nervous about my rate lock expiring before closing, again she was quick to reassure me. I hope management appreciates Samantha as much as I do!

    They were fast, fair, and had the best rates around! I tried every other lender and shopped around for a week and no one could beat their rates. The process was simple, and streamlined! They use technology to their advantage and yours! The closing was smooth and fast, I was able to choose a closing time that was convenient for me and the notary was able to come to my home; the closing took 24 minutes total. I went from pre approval to rate lock the same day and closed my loan in just 3 weeks. Everyone I worked with was friendly, and extremely knowledgeable.     We found Better.com by researching multiple sites and saw they had good reviews. At first, we weren't sure because we haven't used a mortgage company that was all online before but the process was so simple we decided to try it. We were able to complete everything online through the website and emails.     Entire refinance completed very quickly. Extremely difficult to talk to Advisor when I felt it necessary. Frequently had a question where I had to send an email and wait more than 1 day for a response. Process would have probably had a little less anxiety if communication was easier. Also, there were numerous occasions where Underwriters asked for the same documentation repeatedly. I have documentation showing that employment was verified 14 times??? Could have been easier but end result was good and fairly quick.

    I’m professionally near the mortgage industry so coming in to my refinance I knew a few things of what to expect cost- and time-wise. Better exceeded my expectations. They didn’t overly sales-pitch. They were straightforward. The website is super easy and friendly to navigate. I appreciated they followed up with phone calls after I completed things to see if I had any questions or needed anything. I could easily check the website and see what my next tasks were. This enabled me to get through the process quickly. They have several folks you’ll interact with through the process- loan person, processor, closer and title notary. It’s so fine to have different people. They were experts in their area and I appreciate that! The closing costs were unbeatable- I had 3 other lenders tell me variations of that. The service was super friendly and helpful. I closed in 10 days- I had the paperwork and credit together but I’m still super impressed. This is like the feeling when you’ve finally found the car mechanic you’ll use for life. I will be back and you should too! As a side note. I also liked the notary came to my house to sign the closing documents (you can choose any location). I knew the paperwork mostly so it took about 15 minutes. Excellent.

    Better is really better :) I was shopping around for better rates with multiple vendors for my first home. For you to get the most accurate rate most of the lenders will need hard credit pull or will give ball park number based on score. Better gives you rate with Soft credit pull which doesn't impact your credit score. You still have time to decide or move or roll back your application. Better has one of the best rates and lowest / zero lender fees at closing based on the rate selected. Better charges only appraisal, credit report fee etc which are mandatory. Yes - no origination, processing or underwriter charges. I would like to specifically call out 3 stars whom I worked with - James Davis, Blake Sjerven, Maria Zhu as they were my Concierge, Processing and closing experts. They were easy to interact with, professional and were available when I had questions. I was worried to see some reviews which were negative, to my pleasant surprise, better was able to fund the mortgage even before the expected day. Their system is great - easy to interact with, tasks appear as it is needed etc. However again I am not saying there might be issues with better or with customer, even there were hiccups for me but not deal breakers. I appreciate Better to have serviced my mortgage and I truly am grateful for the lowest closing costs as well as the lower interest rates.

    Although everything was done online, would be nice for my loan advisor to check in or answer my none loan question. The welcome party was great! Just the actual loan advisor that I never heard from. Processing team was good but will need to pay more attention to detail & be more specific on what they are asking. Closer was great! She was on top of things & called to Introduce herself, checked in & congratulated me on the purchase. Support team was great. They answered a lot of questions & was great in following up.     This was a very disappointing experience. The communication was very poor from Better. The customer-facing online portal only worked when everything was straightforward. The portal creates tasks that can be completed by uploading documentation and then the task is cleared. The system automatically clears tasks once documentation is uploaded however, no one from Better actually confirms if the documentation is accepted. Therefore, I was going along the entire time thinking that all of my docs were in order and no one from Better reached out to me until a week before closing to let me know that my docs had been rejected and therefore deleted from the system. Additionally, I was never provided terms for the cash-out that required me to have 6 months of reserves when I decided to get cash out. Therefore, we got within three days of closing before I was told that I needed to magically come up with an extra $500 in my bank accounts. Had I been given this info. prior I would have planned for it. Finally, my loan officer rarely responded to my questions in the portal. Internal communication seemed to be lacking sorely also as I had to keep uploading the same documents because the previous customer service person hadn't passed along the info. to the next step. Overall, I would not recommend Better other than to check rates without having your credit affected.

    Very easy process to follow, and the staff were both knowledgeable and borrower friendly. The transitions from loan officer to loan processing specialist to closing specialist were smooth and organized. I would definitely recommend Better.com. Me brand new mortgage has been transferred twice, before even the first payment date. Neither servicer can tell me the new loan number or how to make a timely first payment. This used to be a 5 star review.

    I am extremely happy that I went with Better.com for my mortgage. I was almost talked out of it by a realtor (not mine) who was trying to get me to use a company she works with. She told me how slow to close online lenders are....well, she could not have been further from the truth. Over 5 weeks I had bid on and lost out on 3 properties but 5 weeks later and I am closing before all of the others. Better.com are super fast and efficient. I was nervous about it being online and not face to face but they are literally a phone call away and extremely helpful. The online dashboard is super easy to use and follow. I have already recommended them to my brother who is looking to refinance. Also their rates were the lowest that I found. I am very happy and would definitely use them again.

    I used Better 4 times already. First time I used Better was in 2017 when we purchased our first house, later for refinance because we could get a lower rate. We had an exceptional experience. I love the fact that you can do absolutely everything from the comfort of your home by uploading all the docs required, play with the calculators, rates (you can compare, they always have had the lowest rates), etc. to see how much you can afford and estimate your final payments. Mostly pros than cons. The only reason for 4 starts instead of 5: this last time now in 2021 they were more unresponsive, not replying weekends and I found myself repeating things several times (deposits we've made, credits we received, etc). We ended up closing on time, but this time was super stressful and a bit frustrating at times, nothing like the other times that they were amazing. With a super hot housing market I think they are overloaded and "too many handoffs" between loan consultants, experts, etc. made things to get lost or confused. The other thing to take into account is that Better sells all their mortgages, you manage the whole communication with them, but after closing / when the refinance is completed you will deal with a temporary loan servicer that will tell you who will be your definitive servicer & lender. It worked for me because they could get us the best rates, but for control freaks that want to know no matter what who will be dealing with later, might not work. Only the first time we worked with them we could tell them "we prefer Chase" but later it was just a wish, they can say yes and you will end up with Mr. Cooper. Overall: very good experience. I will still consider Better in the future

    Getting loan for my condo at Better.com was a great experience. The whole process, and it's very stage was explained to me; needed documents uploaded by me reviewed in timely manner. With the online account I knew what was going on all the time. The experts contacted me when I signaled I needed "human touch" over the phone. When I got to the closing table, all the documents were familiar to me. Better also kept the promise of lowering closing costs for working with the real estate agent suggested by them. I will very sincerely recommend Better.com

    Better helped me close a loan on my first house in under 30 days – start to finish. The rates were the best I found available anywhere, with generous lender credits and zero fees (I didn't pay for points). I have to admit, I was skeptical at first. Compared to my local credit union who is notorious for having great rates, their offer seemed too good to be true. However, they delivered on every promise that they made and then some. If you have straightforward finances and your computer skills are up to par, then I would highly recommend Better as a lender. If you aren't comfortable transferring documents online or managing tasks in a browser-based portal then you might prefer using a physical bank, but probably not enough to justify the tens of thousand you might save with a lower rate. Highly recommended.

    I've now used Better Mortgage twice now. I love how integrated everything is working with them. I like being able to login to my account and see the exact status of the process and what tasks I have to complete to keep things moving. In this case, I used them to refinance my mortgage. The whole process was painless despite the fact that get a mortgage is a lot of work.

    I was very happy with my entire experience with Better.com. Applying was quick and easy, and the entire process was tracked through their portal, so you could easily see what tasks you needed to do, what they needed to review, and what was approved. I have purchased several homes and done several refi's and this was by far the easiest, and there were no last minute changes where they suddenly needed a bunch of new info, or your closing costs changed drastically.

    Better.com came through with the best rate for our loan. The refinance process was super easy. We were alerted to outstanding tasks via email and the link in the email took us directly to the list of outstanding tasks, which were easy to complete. Every person we dealt with was friendly and responsive, and all of them worked together as a team. They kept us updated every step of the way. We never had an issue with knowing who to contact with questions and we never had to wait for an answer to any question we had. The best part to us was that we felt like we didn't have to do much - we were guided during the entire refinance process - it was stress free. They even sent a notary out to our house for the final signing. We would definitely use Better again in the future.

    We refinanced our mortgage with Better.com and it was truly painless. The whole process took right at 4 weeks from application to funding. Closing was just over 3 weeks. There was a minor glitch on a closing doc that delayed things by about 2 days, but it was handled and resolved quickly and efficiently. The communication was flawless. We were in the loop the whole way without having to call over and over again. Their online process is a delight to work with and very easy. The team all gets 5 stars from me. Adan, Allison and Maggie were all professional and very good at their jobs! The handoffs from one team to the next as it progressed was also flawless.     First-time refinancer here, and Better made the whole process easy and seamless. Their rates were the lowest out of the 3 lenders I received loan estimates from. Their customer service was top notch during every step of my refinance (shoutouts to Blake and Pedro!). I didn't feel like anyone I spoke to on the phone tried to pressure me on anything compared to other lenders. They were informative and patient with all my questions because I kept asking if this was all too good to be true. Everything was true. I got the lowest rate, saved money with Better's $0 origination fees, and they didn't try to tack on additional closing costs. I literally started my loan and got fully funded by Better in less than 3 weeks which is insane to me. I expected it would take 30+ days and drag on. I haven't even talked about how Better's online user experience blows the competition out the water! It was overflowing with Human Centered Design; basically a Turbo Tax experience but for a refinance. Other lenders I received loan estimates from used this Ellie Mae online software and it was basic at best. Better.com really took the time to deliver a smooth online user experience with content that's easy to understand (plain language), and access to Better employees during every task and every step of my refinance. I'm definitely recommending Better to all my family and friends who are looking to buy a house or refinance. I'm a true fan. The rest of these mortgage lenders need to step their game up or get left in the dust.

    After a search of several brokers, Better presented the best overall deal for me -- but more importantly they managed to process my refinance even though my unusual employment situation didn't "fit" the forms, they used common sense and were industrious in understanding and verifying in a different (but solid) manner, and finally i had a very hard deadline to get this done and even though i caused some delays on my end --- Better hit the deadline perfectly and got it done.     Almost perfect. Would use again and recommend to family and friends. I contacted Better for a cash out refi and spoke with Seth. He told me closing would be 3-4 weeks which meant closing by 31 May (Memorial Day) but we didn’t get there. My fault partially because I was in forbearance 2 months prior and they (and all other lenders) require 3 payments since forbearance. I paid my third monthly payment early and sent them an official document from my prior mortgage company. It was accepted as proof that I made my 3rd payment after forbearance BUT not accepted to close the loan on time. That was my biggest fight and issue. My prior mortgage company posted my statement on a Friday and I sent that to Better that night. It was too late so it went through Monday. I had to wait the mandatory 3 days before closing documents could be signed. Then I had to wait another 3 days for the refi right to cancel (I had already waited plenty). We finally closed June 16 (16 days later than promised). I worked with Julia for the majority of the process. I felt like she advocated for me hard. In fact I got a free rate drop of 1/8 a point which saves me $250 a year. Small each month but $3750 over the loan life. Julia was really good despite the unfortunate situation of I lock on to what I am initially told. The closing expert was super fast to respond to my email or call and answered my questions helping me understand the process and cost. It was such a quick process. Highly recommend Better for the rate/price but also for making things right when there was an issue.

However, I was suspicious about how the customer service would be and whether there would be hidden fees that weren't disclosed up front. None of my fears came to fruition.     I have done several refinancing , Better by far is the most efficient company I dealt with. I think all in all it took maybe 3 weeks to get to closing.! The loan rates were also the best! The team stays with you throughout the process, and make sure things are moving on time. Unlike with other companies, I did not even have to gather any papers. Better gets your all the papers they need (e.g., tax transcripts, paystabs, etc) All loan officers I dealt with were females. All are super nice, and knowledgeable. Can't be more happy! The three things I loved most were: a) I really liked the transparency, and I was able to do a lot of simulations (terms, rates) before I even started the process. In other words, I did not have to call someone and spend countless minutes on the phone. b) The entire process, except the appraisal and closing was online. The site guided me through the entire process, and it was simple, even though a loan is a loan and they will ask you for a million documents. c) The support team was very responsive, and always ready to answer my questions.     TL;DR: Great rates, very good online tool, nice people, extremely frustrating closing experience. We just purchased our first home and Better was able to close on schedule but it was unnecessarily challenging on closing day. We purchased a house in another state so we did a mail-away closing. Better had the wrong first payment date on all the documents we were signing so we had to stop in the middle and have the notary come back later that day after Better corrected the date. Better is supposed to be refunding us the additional $175 notary fee for the second trip but it's been a week since our closing and I'm still waiting for that to be confirmed. We signed our papers on a Thursday and the close of escrow was the following Monday. Our title agent reached out to our closing expert for funding approval at noon on Monday and did not receive a response. She made multiple calls to Better and spent over an hour on hold and still was unable to get in touch with our closing expert. I sent emails to check in around 2:30pm and also received no response. We finally heard back around 4:30pm that they were working on it and eventually got funding approval 7 minutes before the 5pm deadline. The lack of response throughout the day was unnecessarily frustrating and embarrassing because I had to apologize to everybody involved on behalf of my lender. I was warned by my realtor against going with a national/online lender and he was absolutely right. However, the rates were significantly better than my other options so I decided it was worth the risk. My recommendation for anyone purchasing a home and considering Better would be to check their rates and try to find a local lender that will match or come close. I would have gladly paid a little more money to avoid the headaches we had on closing day.

    Shopping around to refinance your house can be completely nerve wracking. When trying to find companies to work with, it's like opening the flood gates, because you get loads of calls and emails from other competitors, to the point it's exhausting. I ended up dealing with Better because they took the guessing game out of what the refi would cost me. They include a loan break down on each interest rate you look at, which is nice because it gives you a chance to weigh the pros and cons of each. I went through all of the rates offered to me and finally decided on a rate to lock in. The Better team were always there to answer my questions and follow up with me, thus making the process incredibly smooth. In the end, the actual cost of the refi was TONS cheaper than the estimated cost to close, so this made me EXTREMELY happy. I wanted this to be as cheap as possible, while getting a way lower rate than I currently had, and Better was there to deliver. I highly recommend.

    It was extremely frustrating at first. No one really guided me through the process or explained about how the "tasks" just keep showing up. The mistakes are not explained. The form (PFD) is just rejected and you are not told what exactly was wrong (for instance- they will not just tell you what exactly the mistake is but just reject your submission) It would be a lot easier if they just spoke with the realtor or title company directly. Instead you have to keep getting forms from them to completed the required "tasks". I thought I would just have to complete my financial tasks. So make sure you have a realtor and title company that will send you a lot of PFDs. Also they do not like to talk to you over the phone (everything is on line/ email) The requests for a phone appointment is booked for weeks. So if you have a question it may take up to 24 hours to get an email response. They also send a lot responses right before they close for the day. My loan team was completely changed at the beginning of the process which led to a lot of confusion. My team was also spread out across the country (New York, Carolina and California)so I had to keep up with the different time zones. I was glad when Dan finally got involved because Michael was not nice or helpful through out the process. Tia (added to the team near the end) was great. I moved the closing for my old house up two days earlier because the team said having the closings on the same is a problem (I thought that is what most people do) However even after doing that and being assured for days that everything was all set for the closing, I still had to wait 4 hours at the closing for the title company to receive the wired funds. The little money I saved was not worth the frustration. Nerd Wallet was wrong on this recommendation.

    From the first calls explaining the process to the final communications everything was clear, easy to understand, and had super fast response times. I especially appreciated all the phone conversations. So much is email today and while good, many things like refinancing need that back and forth. I also want to thank the designers and programmers of the website. I think it is excellent. My initial mortgage was with a broker and while yes it worked and yes we had lots of good phone calls, we probably had 20 different emails back and forth asking for one more form or one more piece of information. The tasks section of the site is brilliant. And being able to ask questions about a task in the task itself and not sending yet another email is such a great idea. That really made it easy, and something that I think a lot of people can understand. I already have been talking to friends about refinancing if it's right for them and will continue to recommend Better.

    Just finished funding my refinance with Better.com. My processing and closing experts were extremely professional, prompt, transparent and helpful. The only step I had a little bit of confusion was around the rate lock period. There was confusion around how long it will last. I was told on the phone that it would last for 60 days, but it was actually for 32 days. We worked through that, but the rest of the process was smooth. Thanks again better.com. I would use your services again for my other properties.

    I refinanced my home using Better.com and was cleared to close in two weeks! The process was seamless. Having everything available to me through the dashboard made things a lot easier. I was able to address each task on my own time, and if I had questions I could immediately schedule a call with one of my team members. My processing agent, Allycia Coleman, was fantastic! She was personable, thorough, and communicated with me in less than 24 hours until I closed. The convenience of having the notary come to my home for the closing, and the signing process taking only 30 minutes was icing on the cake! I started refinance applications with two other funders (one being my mortgage company at the time- PennyMac). Three weeks passed and they still had not sent the request to review and clear title. It was cleared with Better.com in less than a week. Additionally, neither of the two funders were able to beat the interest rate (1.875%) and costs Better.com offered. Overall, my experience with Better.com was exceptional and I recommend using them for your refinancing needs.

    This was my third refinance with Better and it went just as smooth as the last two. The process was easy, quick and very user friendly. I had a co-worker using another popular online company to refinance at the same time and he had a ton of issues. He finally took his business to Better and was very happy with the result. Use Better, you won't be disappointed.

    Very pleased with the whole process and team at Better. The site is very usery friendly, breaks down the jargon into simple to understand terms with educational videos, and the task list is great - easy to know what is needed, simple to upload docs, and love the pings when a new task is ready. The whole process was fast - faster than anyone else quoted and for a way lower closing cost and even interst rate than competitors. The support team is incredible! Very knowledgeable and friendly and prompt response times - always answered the phone right away and quickly replied to emails. The folks they used for appraisal and a mobile notary (didn't have to go to a bank or title company once) we're excellent as well. Overall great experience!

    I had a horrible experience at Better. Due to tremendous reorganization, (4000+ employees got laid off) the whole loan team assigned to my loan file got fired mid-February. In regard to the new home advisor, he is busy all the time, I have to constantly reach out. The pricing at Better isn't competitive either. I locked my rate on 2/23/2022, initially I applied for the primary 4% no point and term 20 years. Then the underwriting changed it to investment. I got notified with my new rate three weeks later at 4.65% for $5,200 points term 15 year. I called the sale manager, she told me to provide a initial closing disclosure from a competitor. Then she might be able to adjust the rate or apply some discount. I was able to provided them a closing disclosure from Amerisave with a retroactive rate sheet, but my rate did not get adjust accordingly. I called a few times, the home advisor told me that there wasn't any more discount Better can applies, therefore the sale manager would not response to my call or email. The week before my closing, the home advisor offers me to use other lender if I still think the rate is too high. He claimed that he already lost 10 clients due to high pricing. Honestly, if they told me the rate earlier I would leave for sure. I can definitely get a better option shop somewhere else. The seller won't agreed to extend the closing date. Therefore, I end up using better for funding. I used Better few times already, but this is the last time we are going to use them. Better does not appreciate my business, the value of the company changed. I do not think Better is there to make customer's Better. Better is there to be Better for themselves by charging high fee, and offer discounted service. I am very disappointed at Better. I am glad this is my last time doing business with them.

    Our experience with Better was generally good, until the closing. Better Mortgage provides great rates, an intuitive and user friendly portal, and does a lot to support potential home buyers (ex: Appraisal Guarantee). The general communication we had with our loan consultant was also good. The experience that will not make me a Better Mortgage client in the future was the closing. The company just dropped the ball. A week out of our closing date, I checked in to see if there was anything else we needed to do, and was informed everything was fine. 2 days before closing, issues came up. There was confusion around the title and some Seller concessions. Our closing date ended up being pushed back and the whole process became a firedrill. We ended up getting to a good spot with the loan, but it was a very stressful process with the biggest purchase of our lives. If you expect your closing to be simple and straight forward, Better may work for you. Otherwise, look for a more experienced loan company. NOTE: I'm only talking about Better Mortgage here. We had a great experience with our Better Realtor and Better Settlement Service.

    Staff is typically friendly but I have to agree with other reviews that it seems like there's a lot of inexperience. It's difficult to reach customer service. Their software for credit checks are heavily flawed, they somehow did a hard credit check and got a ton of debts that aren't even on my credit report let alone mistakes, I called all 3 major bureaus and not a single one was on there. I'm already approved with several other places, I was just comparing loans and better Mortgage was the only one with issues. There were just a lot of "mistakes" along the way, Seems like better mortgage really isn't better at all.

    After making me pay for an appraisal and two weeks before my closing date I was told I didn’t make enough money for the loan I applied for. Within 48 hours I had a full approval with the same income and loan amount from another company. BETTER is not better they do everything to make sure you don’t get a loan and rip you off in the process! DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!!!

    DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. EVER. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED. Very unprofessional. They discriminate against applicants using questionable methods by requesting documents that won't exist or are impossible to acquire when it's something that didn't apply to you. They kept telling me I was missing documentation when I told them and even confirmed it was the same exact documentation that my city had on public record. The underwriters will make up policies that may be impossible to meet. They have all your info and can profile you if they want to. They will waste your time and run your credit and hold up your money. I will eventually be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau. Lastly I later found out through an article that the CEO is facing a variety of law suits for stealing money, lying to their partners, the courts and their clients and some other shady practices.

    I had several choices of lenders offered by Bankrate, but after my initial research Better Mortgage was an easy choice to move forward with. I even checked with a local mortgage company and they could not even come close to the rates that were offered to me. The 15 year fixed rate was very competitive and with the lender credits offered for just a small bump in interest rates that were still competitive with other lenders, that credit covered my closing costs. I liked that no origination fee was charged, free appraisal, no escrow, etc. I was planning on going out of town 4 days after i locked my rate, and the appraiser was dispatched immediately to my house within a couple of days to finalize the appraisal. During the loan process the online communication was excellent and i received an email anytime a task needed to be completed. Everything was easy to understand. Closing was in just two weeks from locking rate, which was the fastest loan closing i have ever had for refinancing. I was out of state when closing time came, and a mobile notary dispatched to my location, at no extra charge. I would highly recommend Better Mortgage. Jayme, my loan advisor, was excellent and was the best at communicating and advocating for me to get some conditions waived. I have already told several friends about my great experience. If i ever need to get a mortgage in the future, i will definitely come back to Better Mortgage.

    A horrible experience from beginning to end. I applied for a mortgage with Better and initially found the pre-approval process smooth and the online account dashboard very user-friendly. That's the sum of my positive experience. I opted to use a recommended Better real estate agent so I could take advantage of some perks they had to offer by using their lending and real estate service in tandem. One problem with this was that neither my home loan representative nor my real estate agent was local to the area. The home loan representative was out of state, and the real estate agent was in downtown Nashville in Davidson County (while we were looking to buy in Sumner County). This made most of the communication happen by email or SMS. My first home loan representative with Better never communicated with me. I had questions about the approval process, so I emailed him. Then called him and left a voicemail. One week went by without a response, and Better had to assign me another home loan representative. My Better real estate agent was Tracey Gracey. We toured three homes together with my dad, who was a retired real estate agent. My dad noticed possible issues with the houses that Tracey Gracey did not. When we decided on a home, since most of my communication with Tracey Gracey was by email, I didn’t fully understand the buying process. She recommended I put up to 5% in earnest money, so I did. But my dad thought it was very risky putting that much up, and after getting a thorough explanation from him, I agreed. I wish Tracey would have been as thorough. During the inspection, my dad and I were in attendance, but Tracey Gracey was not there until much later. In fact, the seller had to leave her house keys with my dad, the father of the buyer. She eventually showed up the last 20 minutes of the inspection. The seller’s agent advertised the home as coming with the appliances, but Tracey Gracey did not recommend that the appliances be listed as part of the property in the sale agreement. My dad advised me to get an amended sales agreement detailing every appliance that was to be left with the property. Tracey said that wasn’t necessary, so I had to tell her outright to get the paperwork done and contact the seller’s agent about it. After a few weeks of house hunting, we signed the sale agreement for a home. When it came time to move from pre-approval to verified approval, Better changed their mind and decided not to give me verified pre-approval for the amount that I was originally pre-approved for. Nothing changed regarding my employment or finances. My 2nd home loan representative with Better said that my wife could not be a co-borrower because she did not have a credit score at all, despite having been pre-approved by the 2nd home loan representative. He advised us to apply again but with myself as the only borrower. When I reapplied, I was assigned yet another home loan representative. This made it my 3rd representative with Better. In the end, I could not get approved for the amount I needed. I was left with 5 business days to find a lender who would give me verified approval for the amount I needed. And I found that in Rocket Mortgage. Rocket Mortgage had me approved and the underwriting started in less than 24 hours. By the closing date, I found out that Tracey Gracey had been fired even though I had not yet given any feedback. I am not sure what happened there. My second real estate agent with Better was Taketia Morgan. We met at the property for a final walkthrough, and she asked me if I wanted her to be present for the closing. I thought, “Isn’t it your job to present at the closing?” So that was my experience with Better. 3 home loan representatives and 2 real estate agents. No one did their job correctly, and they still got paid 3% commission. My dad helped me like a real estate agent, and Rocket Mortgage got my home loan done for the closing. Lesson learned? Use a local real estate agent and local home lender that everyone knows face-to-face.

    I had a decent experience getting my mortgage refinanced through Better, but seeing how they have been treating their employees to try and stay afloat makes me wish I went to a different lender. I regret choosing Better.

    A few months ago I gave Better.com a 1 Star rating. I was really disappointed in them. I felt that I was baited and switched regarding my initial quoted rate. Today I am happy to change my review to a 5. Soon after my review a representative from Better.com reached out. She apologized and offered me the original 3% rate plus some closing credits. As a result, I decided to proceed and I’m glad I did. The mortgage application and document processing was quite easy. I was not pleased with my processor but after reaching out I was contacted by the manager who stepped in the get everything done. Prior to closing I received an email from my loan officer that I would also be receiving a refund of 0.5% of my loan amount due to a delay of the Federal Housing new Market Adverse Fee. I really did not believe it as it was over $2,300. I told her if I get the refund, my review changes to a 5. Today I received my refund along with the attached letter. I would never have known about this fee. I have a friend who just refinanced and her mortgage company never mentioned the fee...until she asked. Hats off to Better.com to be an ethical and customer focused mortgage company.

    I had a very good experience using Better.com for our refinance. Their website is very good and provided accurate information on available loan options that did not require having to spend a lot of time with someone first. The rates were very competitive and costs quite low. Once we decided to move forward, their online process was quite smooth, providing ongoing updates and generating emails when new information was required. Only one minor comment is that they should minimize the number of individuals involved in the process, especially in the beginning.

    Great experience once the escrow situation was taken care of. Not only was it handled promptly but I was given a credit toward my closing costs. Everyone was very responsive. The loan was ready to go on time and will be signing this morning at 9. I feel like I got a great rate. The underwriters were fast.     Refinancing my mortgage with Better.com was one of the easiest transactions I’ve ever had. The whole process was organized and efficient. I was able to see at any time of the day what needed to be done and what the next steps were. I was able to complete nearly everything on my phone...only a few document uploads were easier for me on my computer.     I have done probably 20 loans over the last 15 years and this was the best. I have been using another mortgage company for years but decided to try Better because the rate was .25% better with no appraisal. Every person I dealt with was cheerful, knowledgeable, easy to understand, accessible and efficient. Lots of tasks to complete but nothing out of the ordinary and I was promptly notified by email of my pending tasks. We closed in a record 15 days! Couldn’t be happier.

    Great positive user experiences with BETTER on seamlessly business flow and scheduled transactions. Customers support hours mostly anytime of the days, no 9-5 hour, always text back any answers/solution to our questions in the timely manners, very professional. If you are looking to conduct mostly online transactions with great support along the ways, you will love this company. The only face to face was when we closed the loan since we had to notarize our final documents. We can even had the choices to pick anywhere in the US to complete the notarize our closed. We closed and funded our loans less than 3 weeks from the first commitment to refinance with BETTER! Great jobs and keep up the great user experiences!

    We just closed on our cash-out refinance with Better, and it was an overall smooth process. Even with a small bump, our team was excellent in communication and helping us restructure our application so it would work. I'm really impressed with how simple and intuitive the website is; when there are things to complete, they're listed as tasks, and you simply upload to the secure website. There were a couple of times I was asked for a duplicate item, but I made a note under the task, and it was taken care of. Overall it was a fast and easy experience, and I highly recommend them.

    Overall I think Better was a simple and easy way to get a mortgage. I enjoyed having to avoid the hassle of the banks and everyone we spoke to was very friendly and courageous. They were very competitive with their rates and they were able to match a lower rate that was advertise on a different website (with a little of back and forth). I think there are just a few glitches with a fully automated system that can be corrected. After closing, I had a new task asking about my career info that just seemed odd. Also, even though I explain some circumstances to my Home Advisor the system keep requesting the same info every single day. Even with those little things, I think Better is a great company to work with and I would recommend it to others.

My experience with Better Mortgage was so many ways truly Better. Better service, Better rates, Better turnaround time, Better experience, I chose Better. Is it me, or is there something exciting about being part of a disruptive service. No one likes to think that the rest of the world doesn't work and gets paid more money for it but in so many industries that's exactly how it is. Offering the best rates and having a seamless service, helping procure various additional mortgage-related services such as title and notary and as such I highly recommend using this mortgage company over any of the not so great mortgage companies.

    Easy, straightforward, great customer service. Communication with my team was excellent. They were very responsive and easy to communicate with through text, email and phone call. My only *minor* suggestion is that if you have a question about a task you have to complete, text or call your Better team member rather than ask for help in the support chat that’s connected to the specific task. I never got a timely response both times I tried that. But when I reached out to a team member for help the response was very fast. Great experience overall, especially for a first-time homebuyer! Would recommend to anyone.

    This was by far the best mortgage experience we've ever had! We stumbled onto Better.com while researching rates and lenders. Everything but the final signing of documents with a notary was digital and managed through the very simple dashboard and task list for our account on the Better.com website. We received email notifications when a new task appeared and we were also able to email our loan experts throughout the entire process.     I had the Greatst experience with Better.com. the whole process was extremely efficient. Customer service at the tip of your fingers and with outstanding response time...no exaggeration. Closing was within 30 days from initial application to closing. They provide several rates available with the terms and all done online with an easy online system.     Better was amazing to work with. They gave us a loan estimate upfront once we got our preapproval which took less than 10 minutes. We were able to edit the preapproval right online where other lenders would require us to contact them first to make any changes. Any documents needed were able to be easily updated right from my cellphone. Nothing required me to use a computer or laptop which was great and convenient. I could do the tasks from anywhere. Closing was completed from 30 days exactly of us putting in an offer. Rates were lower than other lenders we looked at. I will recommend them to everyone.

    We had a good experience working with Better. Our realtor was really nice, the home advisors got changed mid-process and sometimes they were slow to give updates. But for the most part they communicated well and we can always go on the portal and chat with a representative. Closing costs were almost non-existent due to many credits that we got.     As a first time home buyer, I was referred to Better.com by an acquaintance, and after some brief online research, felt comfortable pursuing a loan with them. The functionality and navigation via their website was very pleasing. Shortly into the process, I was presented with a set of rates to choose from, and was prompted to 'lock' my rate, without fully understanding what that meant. The next day, I was exploring BankRate, and saw a Better.com advertisement for my exact rate and circumstance, but with $10,000 less fees. I immediately called my loan officer to ask about this and was informed there was nothing that could be done, as it was likely a 'bug' with their system. Obviously unsatisfied, I called again to speak to someone else, and we had a very cordial conversation where he explained to me that since I locked my rate, they were not able to match the advertised rates. I told him I understood the scenario and would unfortunately have to take my business elsewhere. He obviously understood, apologized for the difficulty, and wished me the best of luck. For days after these conversations, I still received emails from Better, stating that particular stages of my loan were being completed. Although I already asked my loan officer, and the gentleman I was escalated to, to cancel my account, I responded via email anyways, again asking my account to be cancelled. Days after this, Better.com proceeded with an appraisal against the property I was purchasing and forwarded me the documentation. I made my new loan officer aware of the circumstance, and they reached out to Better to negotiate a transfer of the appraisal, which Better was unwilling to entertain. Basically, no single aspect of this story would be enough to prompt this review. But looking back on the experience as a whole, I'm pretty disappointed with the correspondence, and lack of expertise.     From beginning to end better Mortgage company provided outstanding service. i loved all the rate options which saved us .5 % lower from our builders mortgage company. All this was accomplished with no out of pocket expenses. Shawn our adviser was professional and courteous in getting our refi done in about 30 days. This saved us about $100 a month and allowed us to take care of escrow account. Better Mortgage is highly recommended.

    This review is not about the place, but the online experience with the Better mortgage refinance product. Very easy, the user interface is simple and straightforward. On the rare occasions that I needed clarification or to make a correction, the specialist assigned to my application was quick to respond by email and within UI to keep things moving along smoothly. If you are just minimally computer and web competent, I would strongly consider this route. Pricing was "better" (see what I did there?) than what my limited search turned up for traditional mortgage companies.

    I have gone through the process of financing a mortgage many times. I recently had my first experience with Better for a refinance loan and this was the most simple experience I have had thus far. Not only is the process simple, everything is laid out on their website in simple terms with every task listed of what is expected from you, and what Better is working on.     I have financed and refinanced a number of homes so have a lot of experience and the process with Better was BY FAR THE BEST! I was able to get our home refinanced and money taken out in 30 days!!! The costs and interest rates were the best in the market and was even trying to compare a refinance costs with Rocket Home Mortgage who was our lender prior to Better. Rocket's costs were higher, required more items than Better which in my case was unnecessary given we purchased the home with Rocket 18 months earlier. I would use them again in a minute and you should too!!! They check all the boxes you'd be looking for in a refinance: Lowest interests rates? YES Lowest points costs? YES No unnecessary costs added in? YES Fast closing.... HELL YES!!!!

    I used Better and Better Settlement Services for my refinance. I locked in my rate on August 11th and closed on September 9th. The entire process was quick and simple. The website is very user friendly and loaded with information. Better is completely transparent - there were no hidden fees and I was always made aware of the timeline and knew what to expect day by day. The customer service was excellent. The few times I had questions or needed clarification, my emails and phone calls were answered promptly with an equal level of professionalism and friendliness. Better was one of the companies recommended to me by Credit Karma. I hadn't heard of them before, but they offered me the best rate and did not charge any fees. I was hesitant because it seemed too good to be true, but Better was a great company to work with and exceeded my expectations.

Once the process starts with an exploration of rates, if you want to proceed, a person will get in touch with you and stay with you for the entire duration of the loan process.     The all things online experience has made it easier to get things going. Even if you want to talk to the loan officer, you can schedule it with few clicks and no need to wait on the phone line.     The company has nice people . The 1st refinance process went smooth but closing took place 10 days after planned date and property was not recorded until we discovered it 4 months later. 2nd refinance process started well then service degraded with time. It was hard to get a response. We had to schedule a meeting on-line 2 to 3 days in advance to talk to someone. Also closing was 10 days after planned date. We are keeping an eye on recording to make sure property is recorded on time and to prevent another recording surprise.

    This was a fantastic experience from start to finish. Joey Tran is a rockstar. Very communicative, responsive and easy to work with. This was a very easy refinance as most everything you have to supply is known in some capacity. I didn't have to supply paycheck stubs as they knew who I worked for and what my income was.They knew who had the existing loan. So much of the traditional paper shuffling was removed and I was able to invest about an hour or two in the entire process. We got the rate quoted too so it's not a bait and switch. Early on, I was skeptical as their rates were really low and I wasn't sure what to think. I'm very happy that we elected to proceed and I can tell you, unambiguously, that we will use Better again, should the need arise. This was by and far the best mortgage experience we've ever had.

    We have used better mortgage twice for refinancing. The first experience was great. The second time in September 2021 we have encountered multiple errors post closing. Most recently we received our first mortgage statement and it was $460 higher than the closing documents show it would be. It looks like they have put in our escrow payment at twice the amount it should be. So now I have to chase the error down for them.

    Our refinance took 15 days from rate lock to signing. The online process is ridiculously easy- they clearly explain what documents they need in easy to fulfill tasks, uploading was simple, and my advisor answered every question I had very promptly. Title company sent a notary to our house to sign the closing paperwork, and we were able to sign half of it ahead of time securely online. I can't believe a refi could be stress-free but it really was.

    Decided to refinance our home during this time of low interest rates. We locked in an amazing refinance rate. We started the process about a month ago and we've already closed and are just waiting for funding to complete which should be in the next several days. However, they were responsive via email and I did appreciate the organizational layout of step by step tasks to complete. The only thing I was disappointed about was the referral program, in that it only benefited Better and my friend. I was extremely pleased with the experience and how things turned out. I had a great experience, felt well informed, the online format was easy to follow and know where things were at, and would definitely do it this way again.     Great company to work with for making your home purchase. They cover all steps from finding a realestate agent to lining up the appraisal in addition to providing loan services. My closing costs were at least 20% less than expected. They work in a team environment so it is always possible to get in touch with someone that can help. Truly a Better experience especially over the big banks like Wells/BofA while still offering competitive interest rates which are hard to find with smaller banks or credit unions.

    This was the easiest mortgage process I've ever experienced. We did everything on-line, submitting and receiving PDF documents. The documents required were listed at the beginning of the process and the list did not keep getting added to as I have become accustomed to from other lenders. No seemingly random data was required and everything proceeded at a reasonable pace. 5 weeks from from application to funding. No last minute delays or requests, a Notary met us at our home so we could sign everything. Easy is better and Better is easy!

    A very intuitive user friendly online experience, but definitely some kinks that still need working out. They gave us a great rate, but their loan advisors are pretty green. If you have good credit and financial wherewithal, you will be fine. If you have tricky credit and/or employment situation, you would prob be better off with a more traditional and responsive lender.

    I was a little skeptical at first about a mortgage company that has a lot of do it yourself details but I was very happy with the process. I loved being able to play with the numbers on my own and have various loan estimates to find what was best for me. But help was readily available if desired. Once you lock your rate everything is organized with tasks giving you as much or as little assistance as you want. I would use them again for sure.

    We recently purchased a home with Better and the whole experience was positive and pleasant (despite the crazy housing market). They made everything easy for us to complete the loan process online and in time for the purchase. Their online tool is intuitive and it tells you what tasks are due (but you must be checking it regularly or they will call you to make sure you are submitting everything.) They give clear instructions and explanations every step of the way and if you have questions, anyone from the team will be able to help you, not just your agent. The whole team was responsive and very professional. We closed the deal without any hiccups. I highly recommend Better.

    Working with Better.com was fantastic! The lending tools they have make the financing process as seamless as possible. Rates were very good! Fees were low. You might be able to find slightly lower rates or slightly cheaper fees elsewhere but not without sacrificing your time and convenience.

    My experience with Better Lending was awful and nearly resulted in my losing the house. Better promised me an appraisal waiver and quick closing but instead ended up deciding they needed an appraisal and they missed 2 closing dates they agreed to. The Seller rejected the second closing date extension unless I paid them $1,000 extra. So I ponied up the extra cash to keep the deal alive and Better never actually responded to my request for reimbursement on that cash since it was only required due to their failures as a lender. The individual employees I dealt with were friendly and responsive, but ultimately my experience was frustrating, anxiety producing and I would not recommend working with them.

    I used better as my mortgage company for a house purchase that just completed, barely... Better was absolutely fantastic up until I locked my rate with them. The second I locked my rate, I could never get anyone on the phone. It went from full availability to work through things to maybe one time slot open a week and a half out Even when booking those times slots I would get the call from better 20 minutes late! Better also could not seem to understand due dates, which for a mortgage company is a massive deal. Any time something was due, whether it be a mortgage commitment or even the closing itself, Better showed no sense of urgency. The only way I got any documents from them was cold calling thier public line over and over until someone would finally look into what was going on. To top it all off, Better almost completely screwed up my closing costing me the house. Less than 24 hours before hitting the closing table, I called better to make sure everything was still set. Of course, when I get them, my cash to close had gone up 20% from the night before. Less than 24 hours before closing...I spent the better part of that day on the phone and on hold with Better trying to get an answer on why the cash to close went up so steeply, and also why it happened less than 24 hours before closing.... After hours, literally hours, of pain staking calls, being passed from person to person, they finally had their mistake pointed out by my title company (who I would recommend to anyone! Carriage House Title). Had someone from my title company not taken the time to go through line by line with better, this would never have been caught. I cannot tell you to stay away enough. This review barely touched the issues I had with better. The experience was absolutely horrendous. The incompetence shown by this company is downright astounding. Learn from my mistake, just go through your local credit union. Better is certainly anything but what they claim to be. They were the worst financial experience I have ever had

    Nothing "Better" here. I'll give that the first part was easy - uploading all the documents and completing the tasks. The second part was horrible. They are clearly not a company built to handle person-to-person conversations. Multiple mistakes made on their end. Too much of my time wasted on explaining corrections, being on hold, waiting for calls, waiting for answers. I was referred by a good friend because of how easy and seamless the process was from start to finish. Not my experience whatsoever. Next time my business will go to a new company and will work with someone in person.

    I applied to several lenders for a refinance on my mortgage and was going to go with my current lender and then I decided to apply with Better mortgage once again as I used them with my first purchase. A different lender contacted me and advised they would match my offer that was given and I would close in as little as 10 days because they do their business in house. Well that 10 days was turning into over a month. So I decided to send all my paper work to Better. My appraisal was scheduled before the original lender and the results came back quickly. I was still waiting on a response 21 days after the appraisal from the original lender and I already closed with Better. The process is great and the team provides exceptional service. If something is needed you'll get a response on your account for your to easily upload. I world definitely recommend Better mortgage.

    Better had the best rates and I saved 5K on closing cost!! We closed in 26 days and everything was done online. I have read other's post about their bad experience. You have to be on top of your emails EVERYDAY. You have to provide the documents several times and schedule a call ASAP if you have questions. I work on my laptop and check my email several times a day. I looked on their website for tasks everyday to make sure I have everything they needed. I sent some of the same documents, took screen prints if I didn't get the recent statement and called to make sure it was acceptable. Better is the best and I have already recommended them to friends and family. Extremely happy with their services since the closing. I know I will have to be diligent when they sell my loan and check my home insurance company.

As someone who is reasonably tech savvy, I think they’ve got a great automated workflow here that takes a lot of friction out of the deal. Rates were very competitive, no surprises, and reasonably fast closing. Would definitely recommend.

    I shopped 5 companies for my recent refi. Better mortgage was the winner hands-down. They were responsive, thorough and I felt that my advisor was totally committed to me throughout the process. When I had questions or ideas about how to structure the refi, my advisor thoroughly investigated my suggestions. Out of the five companies, a mix of National and small brands, Better Mortgage’s closing costs were half of the other leading lenders. Do your due diligence and get multiple quotes, just make sure Better Mortgage is on your list!

    I was skeptical at first as I was not familiar with Better.com for mortgage refinancing needs. However from my first contact, the Loan Consultant was knowledgeable and very patient in answering my questions. Once the rate was locked in the Processing Agent took over and she was always available for questions and took care in resolving any issue that came up. She was professional and friendly with attention to details. Once the loan was approved, the Closing Agent took over. Again, very professional and moved the process right along.     Better has some of the best rates and low cost for our refinance. Everything was processed online such as uploading documents, emails and chat, and phone calls, if need be. The hybrid closing save a lot of time during notary signing. Kelsey, our assigned loan officer, provided exceptional service and always answered our inquiries promptly. I understand why they are called Better.com, since they have provided me with an overall "better" experience. I highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for mortgages.

    Great rate, streamlined process, and quick to close on my refi. I did feel tossed around by too many people during the process, and completely dropped by the second closing expert. I had to hunt down my cash back, but once I spoke with a supervisor things were much smoother. The first people I worked with and the first closing expert were excellent. The process was transparent and relatively quick, with by far the best rate and quickest closing. But the customer service could have been better and was very uneven depending on who you are assigned to. And I did feel that I was uploading duplicate documents at some point. I felt completely dropped as a customer immediately after closing and was not happy that the post-closing process was very unclear. Adding the following: my loan was transferred to another company two weeks before my first payment date, which is fine, but I then received notification from my homeowner's insurance company that my premium, due a few weeks after closing, wasn't paid by the mortgage company, and the amount is being billed to me instead. Totally unacceptable (as I obviously paid it at closing) and unnecessary red-tape I must now go through. This is the exact opposite of the "concierge customer service" advertised by Better.com. After calling Better.com back, I was told that to call the title company (no answer), and that my insurance company probably had the check but that hadn't processed it yet. Totally unacceptable passing of the buck.

    This company has a lot of promise, but the level of documentation they request is insane. If you are a super-top tier credit customer, you will be treated like your credit is trashed. You will be asked for more documentation than all your past refinances combined. And then you'll be asked for it again when the month changes to "make sure you are up to date on your payments". They'll ask you for your construction contract from work you had done on your house 9 years ago. And when there is any kind of document that doesn't look the way they want it, they reject and don't tell you what they actually want beyond "required detail". I do NOT feel like a valued customer. Ultimately the loan is getting done, but I cannot recommend this company to anyone who has good credit.

    Better Mortgage is exactly what it sounds like. My refinance was 95% (maybe 97%) completely online. They gave me the best rate options to choose instead of just assigning me the most expensive rate. They also don’t charge the extra closing costs like processing fees. My team was constantly working to make my refinance as easy as possible for me. Anytime I had questions I would schedule a call, and Tom my processing expert would always call me as soon as possible before the scheduled time slot. The closing of my loan was completed by a mobile notary that was able to come to my house on a Saturday morning. My notary Tammy Scott was completely professional and organized, and I was able to complete my closing in under 20 minutes. I’m super happy that I chose Better mortgage!

    It's just Better. Their online platform is amazing, I loved being able to look at the numbers and play around with interest rates, terms, or cash out amounts. Very transparent in providing a tentative Loan Estimate upfront and in the end the figures were within a few dollars, our closing costs actually lower due to time of the month closing date/our mortgage payments fell. The customer service was great, they were attentive, great communicators and excellent hand-offs between the different steps and team members. They took ques and eased off and let me shop around and let me tell you...it ain't pretty out there, other lenders take weeks to get back to you initially, have higher rates, higher closing costs and mazes of online platforms. Better is also blazing fast! (once I stopped shopping around), 3-4 weeks done! The appraiser came out, flexible mobile notary sign at home or anywhere (we chose a coffee shop). If you're comfortable with online, downloading or pictures of typical docs and uploading, I cannot recommend enough!

The website is easy to understand, you know what tasks are due, you get email reminders and the process is explained, from start to finish. Your team members change as you go through the process but it is easy to follow and I never felt “ lost” in terms of what was going on.     Good rates and easy process, but you must know exactly everything you want before starting the loan, exactly how much down payment, etc. It is impossible to get ahold of anyone to change things. My loan officer went on leave halfway through the process without telling me or anyone so for a week my messages went nowhere. After my case was reassigned, getting ahold of anyone was absolutely impossible. Always in meetings. No callbacks, but I'd get an email a day later which really delays things. Update: they said that a notary was included in their closing costs and THEY would send one to us at our scheduled signing time. They never did and after our signing time they said the title company should do it.

    The fastest and easiest refinancing I've ever experienced! Excellent customer service from start to finish! Online application provides a simple step-by-step "tasks to complete", with results and summaries updated frequently. Questions are answered promptly, with either a phone call or email. They will literally walk you through the process, if needed. Not sure this is true in all cases, but I applied for refinancing on June 9, and had cash out funds in my bank on June 30! THREE WEEKS!!! I can't say enough about each and every representative I spoke with. They were all friendly, knowledgeable, professional, and...AWESOME!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

    Most painless and speedy mortgage experience I've ever had (4th mortgage). From rate lock to close was 16days! They had much lower rates and fees than anyone else I looked at. Still can't believe we closed with 2% APR in 16days. Their business is highly automated, so I think having as few "special" circumstances as possible requiring human review probably helped in my situation.

    **Beware of Instructions on How to Pay your Closing Costs**: Instructions for payment of cash to close from borrower were unclear. My closing was on a Saturday at 6 pm ET. Wire instructions (with contact information for the title company) were posted sometime after 5 or 6 pm ET on Saturday—I work overnight shifts so it was unclear to me exactly when they were posted. I called both the notary as well as my loan officer before 5 pm ET on Friday to ask about payment instructions. My loan officer said the notary should know as she works for the title company; the notary said my lender/loan officer should be able to tell me. Obviously, I was at a loss as to what to do. On Saturday AM, I saw the wire instructions but no option was given to write a personal check. My cash to close from borrower was ~ $900, which seemed like a small amount to require a wire. So, since neither my loan officer nor notary could tell me anything on Friday, and the title company was closed on Saturday, I decided I would call the title company on Monday when they opened (after I signed the closing documents on Saturday). On Monday, the title company told me I could have written a personal check and given it to the notary but since I had already signed the closing papers over the weekend, I had no choice on Monday but to send the wire. I think Better should refund the $30 wire fee. But at the very least, so this doesn’t happen to someone else, whoever is responsible at Better for posting payment instructions/contact information for the title company should it make it a point to do so the business day before (at least 24 hours before) closing—particularly if the closing is on a Saturday.

From my initial inquiry, running multiple scenarios, to locking in my rate was just a day or two.     I had the best experience with better.com lending company. Different experts help for different stages of loan process. No where to go .all you need a computer to upload Documents. Excellent customer service. Easy to apply for pre approval. We can modify our pre approval on our own at better and submit to seller. I got the best APR. I felt very secure getting loan from Better.com company. Only one thing I didn’t like is closing disclosure statement format. Really confusing.Other wise no other issues.

    Like others said, the rates are great. The process and fees are pretty transparent. The service is a hit-or-miss in our experience. Sometimes we got really quick response to our email questions, but sometimes we have to wait for a week to hear back. The online phone scheduling is cool, but sometimes you have schedule a few days or more out because there is no immediate availabilities. The online tool is great for uploading documents, but again, the I questions posted in the tasks never got answered, so a scheduled call is needed. The biggest frustration in our experience with this home purchase that Better did not read my email carefully. When the seller and us decided to move up the closing date, I emailed our Better Processing Expert. I was told that we're still "on track". When we were ready to commit to the closing schedule, the Processing Expert finally realized that we moved the dates, and we had to scramble to receive and get the initial closing disclosure signed before we're too late to stick with the planned date. After that, the Closing Expert also did not get the memo that we moved up the closing date. Fortunately I emailed to follow up on the status and was able to tell him that we were only 2 days away from closing. So overall, the experience in the beginning was good, and it got a bit more frustrating towards the end. I could still choose Better in the future, but I would be more hands-on to make sure nothing got missed in the communication.

    This is the second time in 15 months that we've refinanced with Better. Obviously the most important factor in choosing Better is the rate they offer. They blew everyone away and the current lender who had my mortgage was blown away by their offer and even said it was the best one he had seen in quite some time. Better offers such an amazing service. They make the entire process extremely easy with the whole drag and drop process. From start to finish it only took 16 days and had we not been busy the day before, it would've only taken 15 days from starting the entire process to signing. All things equal between lenders, I will always choose Better.

    Best experience I've ever had with a lender. They had the best rates compared to every lender we shopped for, the fewest/lowest fees, and they closed within 3 weeks while most others were to take 30-45 days. Even the title company we worked with commented that they were "one of the best lenders [we've] ever worked with". The web portal is well-designed, simple to navigate and makes it very easy to complete all tasks needed. We were able to create and customize our pre-approval letter within minutes which was critical when involved in a bidding war, received several options on rates and points, were provided a loan estimate upfront, and each member of the team I worked with were all very professional, personable, responsive, and knowledgeable. Even in this insane market we are in, they made one of the most stressful components of home buying nearly stress-free. Cannot recommend them enough!

    Online process of completing tasks and submitting documentation was simple and efficient allowing for a short turnaround time in closing the loan. There were too many individual contact people during different steps of the process creating some confusion on minor details that needed clarification. For example on the final disclosure there was an additional origination fee that was added without a clear explanation and/or notification by any of the individuals handling the loan. There was also confusion on the need for a witness at closing. Attorney requested a witness Better also sent a notary and only one was needed. Early in the process I completed a form requesting our own attorney for the closing but when it came time to close My contact for Better stated that the cost was already included for an attorney they had selected. The policy Better has for allowing for a lower rate after locking is misleading and not clearly stated unless you ask for it specifically. I would have rated the process only 3 stars but because none of these issues had a big monetary impact on my loan and the fact that the process itself was so streamlined I gave it 4 stars. I will be recommending Better to friends and family but will caution them on the issues I experienced.

    I would recommend Better 1000%! In October of 2020 I was lured in by a different online mortgage company and I can't begin to tell you the lies, hassles, lack of customer service, how many times the loan officer completely disappeared...I am talking weeks (8 was the worst), and after 6 months I switched to Better! They had my loans done in a month! Excellent communication...even while I was just getting quotes from them while patiently waiting for the "other" company (because I had paid them application fees). Better doesn't charge an application fee! You are in charge of when you lock! The online experience was easy to understand and easy to do! Yet every time I reached out to a team member, I got an immediate and accurate response! Don't hassle with ANY other company if they are giving you the run around! Switch to Better before the rates rise and you are sorry you didn't go with them in the first place...like me! I will ALWAYS recommend Better to everyone! Excellent, reputable, caring company!

As long as you are organized and prompt the process will be smooth! I will personally refer and use Better again in the future.     I highly recommend Better mortgage. They are very responsive, quick, cooperative. I locked the rate on May 10, 2021. I closed the house by June 11, 2021. The tasks come to the online account. If responded/resolved quickly, things move smoothly. I also shopped around prior to locking the rate, no other lender could match it. I would certainly work with them again.

    Overall great experience. The application and fulfillment process were super easy with great user interface and connectivity. I previously worked for a competitor who is light years behind in this regard. There was a hiccup in the Closing phase but not unexpected by anyone who has ever closed on a mortgage in their lifetime. Highly recommend.

    Working with better mortgage was a great experience. It was easy and fast. They gave me a great rate. There was one hangup when it came time to close, the mobile notary came with 2 packets to complete the signing and one of the packets was for the wrong loan and had different individual's names on it. After a couple days they got things sorted out and we were able to finish signing the paperwork. Aside from that hiccup it was a flawless experience. The only reason I'm removing a star is because of that. Otherwise it was a very good experience.

    We had a great experience with Better! Buying a house is SO stressful and they were always so helpful. I think the best thing about Better is the communication. If I ever had a question or concern, I could text or email a member of my team, and they always got back to me right away. They were always very nice and really made us feel like there were no stupid questions! They also have a nicely laid out online portal that made it really clear what documents and information they needed so there were very few surprises. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking to purchase a home!

    Everything and everybody was outstanding until the final day. This morning, on my funding day, I received three confusing emails, one of which required the scanning of a previously supplied signature on documents I had signed the preceding week. This was very alarming to say the least and I began to be concerned that if you were making these sorts of errors, what else might have gone wrong? In that same email, I was also informed I had five NEW remaining tasks. NOT GOOD NEWS ON THE FINAL DAY! What a terrible thing to do to a customer at the last minute! After a 25 minute phone call, I found out the three funding day emails were all sent in error and my stress diminished, but did not dissipate. I think Better has forgotten to keep in mind the final day is a nervous day for customers and it is simply not the day to get sloppy multiple times. Late this afternoon (after business hours), I received an email that stated a critical detail that had not been previously provided saying, "we sent funds to your title company, which will pay off your previous mortgage within the next 7 business days." 7 DAYS?? This was the first I had heard of this delay and it was problematic for me. I was led to understand the money would be transferred directly to my account on the funding day and I relied on that information. This "next 7 business days" stipulation had never been mentioned by anyone at any step in the process. I am now in danger of making a late payment on my mortgage, something I have never done. This oversight has significantly increased my stress levels. I really don't appreciate this sort of non-professional behavior when dealing with this amount of money - which is considerable to me. I am hopeful all will ultimately work out, but considering how perfectly things had gone all along, it is abhorrent to have so many stress-inducing mistakes committed on the final day. I suggest Better examine their processes closely. From a customer's perspective, you could hardly have messed up a fantastic relationship any more than you did unless you had committed a catastrophic failure on the last day. The service was definitely one I would have recommended without reservation until such a bumbling and unpleasant end. I am not sure how I feel at this point, but at the very least, it is my feeling that Better failed to act in both a professional and customer-centric manner and lost some, and possibly all, of my confidence. Unbelievable.

    We had a great experience working with Better.com to refinance our rental property. The communications were very helpful and there were multiple people from Better.com who reached out throughout the process to ensure we had everything we needed. It was also very easy to upload our documents to the site. Along with a much lower interest rate, we were also no longer have to pay the FHA mortgage insurance fees on the previous mortgage that we refinanced.

    This was my first refi and it was hiccup free and smooth. 99% was done online. They would ask for documents and I would upload them. They would email that I needed to do or see something and I would. They sent a notary to our home on our schedule and that too, was hiccup free and smooth. Anytime I sent an email it was answered promptly. They kept me updated from start to finish and in less than one month and we were done. Stress free. Easy to understand. Not a single issue. Nothing. It was great. We went from a 30 year FHA loan at 4% to a 15 year conventional loan with Better at 1.7%!!

    We have had several mortgages over the years and the experience with Better was outstanding. Qualified people all the way through the process and a clear, transparent engagement was what waited for us at every step. Other vendors offer a great personalized experience that can shield you from the machine behind the curtain but Better has such an exception machine that there is no need to shield you from it. I am at a loss on come up with any suggestions on how it can be improved. This is one company that lives up to the marketing message, at least for us.

    Better.com provides outstanding services and their rates and pricing are very competitive. I started the refinancing of my home in Feb 2021. Better.com processed my loan in a month!! Unbelievably fast. The process was extremely easy, the majority of transactions and documentations was done online. They did all the work for me: found a title company, found a mobile notary, contacted my current lender, etc. Their agents were in contact with me all the time through the process providing me updates 2-3 times a week. All my questions and requests were addressed promptly and with curtesy. They actually answer customers calls right away, and I was never asked to leave a message when calling. If the agent who worked on my loan wasn't available, there was always someone to assist instantly. There was one discrepancy I noticed in my documents and it was corrected immediately. I highly recommend their services. If I am in need for another loan, I would definitely use Better.com services again.

    Better is the best! This is the second time around I am refinancing within months of an earlier refinance with them. Some noteworthy points: In terms of money, I got the best deal, that no one else could match. The refinance process is smooth, especially if you are comfortable submitting everything digitally with minimal personal interaction, unless it is required. No hidden costs. Honest. I did not even need an appraisal, I was refunded the fee. One has to understand the persons who are handling your application may possibly be handling several other applications. If you can help them along, by doing your part and ignoring minor slips, it definitely helps things along. As I was paying points, I would keep checking for the lowest amount paid towards points especially during non-peak times, before locking in my rate. All the Better personnel I interacted with, were helpful and quick to respond to my email. I skipped the e-closing which costs $50, as wet signatures are required anyway.

    Everything except the closing was online. As an software engineer I loved that part. Very easy to use and the team communicated each step clearly. Much easier process then when I first purchased a home. Only improvement I would say would to make the closing online. 😃 It’s probably not possible. I would use them again if I needed too.

    I used Better.com to refinance my house recently and it was the best experience I had. Everything was seamless and done online. Even so, you have experts assigned to your loan every step of the way. They reach out to you and made sure all of your questions were answered. All tasks needed to be complete was clearly laid out online and all could be done within a click of a button. I have refinanced 2 time previously, Better.com was able to close my loan the quickest, 24 days. I would definitely 1000% recommend it and will be using I for future refinance or home loan.     While I was initially excited to use Better mortgage given the simplicity of their portal and the support they offered, when it came to the closing of the house I was deeply, deeply disappointed. I was told by both my lawyer and the lawyer representing the seller that better mortgage was the worst company they have dealt with. I brushed it off thinking of nothing of it, yet our closing took 3 1/2 hours and didn’t actually happen until the next day. It seemed that the people at Better Mortgage had simply gone home and failed to initiate the final review. My lawyer, who had 30+ years of real estate experience said this was the longest and most painful closing he had ever been to. Their lawyer said that throughout the process he had no idea who to contact at Better mortgage and who was responsible for the loan. He said he received request for documents multiple times for the same thing. When I initially started the process I told many of my friends who are refinancing to look at the company given their portal and their rates, but I will no longer do this in good conscience. It seems there are many programmatic issues at the back end with this company and I would warn others that while everything looks slick, you will be shuffled from person to person and you will not receive the kind of professional experience at a more traditional mortgage company

    Better outlines the process of obtaining a home loan easily online. They give you all the information on what to upload, what documents to obtain, how long the process should take, and what to sign. But I hit a snag during the processing and closing of my loan, in that the agents assigned to me were slow to reply to my inquiries if at all. IAs a result my closing cost changed literally as the notary was sitting in front of me. If you use Better, be sure to carefully review your loan estimate and final closing cost numbers. Triple check with the Better closing agent so that you obtain the right cashier's check amount, because that was an incredible headache for me.

    This was my fourth time closing on a mortgage loan and I have to say this has been the best experience. I took care of almost everything from my phone or home computer. If I had questions, the Better team was very responsive and helpful. My only complaint was the appraisal process - I paid a company $550 to do the whole property assessment myself. I understand minimizing social contact but I did a lot of work and still paid full price. Overall, a great, easy experience. I definitely recommend Better!

    My refi process was quick and easy! Application to funding did take about 45 days but that was my fault due to late scheduling for the appraisal.     Had a great experience from start to finish. I love their online approach and the ability to work through the process on the timeline that worked best for me.     The title company, Mortgage Connect, negatively impacted the Better.com experience significantly by delaying closing by over two months claiming a ghost lien. Also, the mortgage “expert” at Better.com claimed she could not do anything about the issue and relayed stupid questions which the mortgage expert should have pushed back on. Given this experience I give Better.com 3/5 stars. I expected better.

    Crazy easy way to secure a refi. I was suspicious of a company that i had never heard of before managing my new loan. But the rate was so good that it was worth investigating. Very glad i did. Such an easy process and the Better Mortgage team was in constant e-mail communication. They transitioned my loan after two months to a lender called Mr. Cooper who i also had never heard of but i could not be happier with them as well. Tremendous on-line communication and visualization of the entire process. Have recommended to my kids and my sister already.

    I was really hesitant in writing this review and giving a three starnrating. Let me explain. I think everyone is going to have a different experience based on who your team is. For me, the courtship after applying at better was awesome. They called and followed up to see if I had questions and even scheduled an appointment on my behalf to meet with my loan expert. I liked their transparency and based on the good reviews here (google) and on nerdwallet, I decided to go forth with it. I was really shocked when they said initially, they wouldn't transfer out my loan to another company, *spoiler alert* they did transfer me out so that wasn't honest but I get it because it's a business. So the loan expert was really good as in all questions were answered and we received a great rate and communication was good. The intuitive platform is great as well because you can change your pre-approval letter price at any time and print it out or email. We just overall enjoyed the ease of submitting documents online and referring back to it when need be. Even with the plus side of the platform it was like night and day when we were transferred to our processing expert. Our expert wasn't honest when he said he would follow up on a task or update us on the process of how our loan was being processed. When you have agreed on buying a house, there's nothing like having headache worrying if your loan is going to clear. It got to the point to where we were literally a week (we scheduled a 60 day closing) out before closing, no exaggeration (I wish I was), and we received no follow up after our two phone calls and communication was silent. No our underwriters are working on it, no they are almost done, no there's no issue with the loan, there was nothing. That's when we decided to reach out to support@better and our situation turned around. It made my mind at ease because I spoke with someone that was honest, transparent, and followed through on what was spoken about to get us to closing on time without any issues. I would give support@better 10 stars if I could because their customer service was awesome. It was just a shame that we had a processing expert that didn't listen to our needs and even when we would inform him of repetitive tasks or tasks that would show up again after again and then again, he wouldn't ensure that they wouldn't show up again. It was unfortunate because when a task was assigned that was repetitive there was no comment saying why that was the case and neither did questions posted in the chat be answered in 24 hours. I do want to add that our closing expert was great and it was a pleasure working with him. I say that all to say better is a good mortgage company and their support@better is phenomenal but if you are having issues right now with your processing expert and it's giving you a headache and you're not feeling comfortable about how the process is going, reach out to support and I know it'll turn around before it's too late. Don't be like us and wait until a week before closing because it could've been worse.

    Not reccomended at all. Go to a bank lender or anyone else. The worst experience with a lender from the ones I worked with. Went through loan processing and and filed all paperwork, but in the end they have the worst communication and the entire experience was horrible-ended up going with another lender and have no regrets. Update-11/9/2020 Thank you for reaching out, I have sent an email to support team stated in your response. Update 4/6/2022: No response ever received-it is April 6 2022. No surprise there. Compare with Chase BoA CitiBank - you'll see the difference.

    Mostly, the service was great and I got the lowest possible interest rate, hence why I gave 4 stars instead of 5. I have to request several times that I didn’t want to finance prepaid costs. Finally, at the very end I have not yet received response on required missing information for my bank to wire the prepaid closing costs to close the loan process. I received this survey BEFORE receiving the critical missing information. It’s unfortunate because otherwise I could have given 5 stars. I’ve revised my review down to 2 stars. I could not get response from any of my contacts, and no one answered or returned calls from the support phone number, to confirm missing wire transfer details required by my bank. The delays costs me an additional $300 in interest fees and wire transfer costs. It’s a disappointing way to end the process
