Not a customer I have a claim against one of their clients. Have just a small damage on a fender bender (check the pictures). We used their recommended shop to do the work. The shop had disassembled the vehicle to do the work then Bear River determined it to be a total loss. BRM low balled the valuation I later found out that BRM uses a third party to do valuations. In fact the third party doing the valuation sampled cars in Wyoming Nebraska North and South Dakota. Initially, my wife was trying to deal with this as it seemed to not be too complex. But when they adjuster called and told her they weren't going to fix the damage that they were considering a total loss. I got involved and tried to get answers why they considered it a total loss when they average price being sold on the open market was clearly more than 25 percent more than the cost of repair. I had to ask to speak to the adjuster, Brad's supervisor. After a long conversation with this supervisor he relented to raise the valuation to about 32 percent above the repair cost. Initially I agreed to accept an offer that would have deemed the vehicle salvage even though the vehicle did not meet the criteria for salvage but was being done on the whim of the adjuster. When I took time to do a deeper more accurate valuation of your car I found it is worth even more considering the popularity and reliability of the vehicle.This was ignored claiming it wasn't relevant. When I asked about BRM paying to assemble the vehicle the adjuster supervisor refused to put any more money into the car. I checked with my insurance to find out if they should pay for them assembly considering it was done on their instructions to their preferred repair shop. I went to the repair shop and spoke to the repair manager about the car. He was surprised that BRM were totaling the vehicle and said they had permission to disassemble in preparation for them repairs. After meeting with the repair shop and discussing it with my insurance I decided that I was right to insist the car be assembled and paid for by BRM. I went to BRM office to request they pay for them assembly and I would have accepted the salvage status of the car. It was here that I realized that the claims adjuster I had worked with would never negotiate basically saying no for any request. I reviewed the valuation it seems that he may not have even looked at a picture of the damage. Had he looked at just one he would understand why I didn't believe they were going to total the car. I decided to refuse their offer realizing that I was giving up too much for such a simple repair. I am now going through my insurance to get the claims handled. I will update this once finished but so far my insurance has confirmed that in any case Thai car will be assembled without me paying to have it done if work is denied or the vehicle gets totaled. The adjuster is already looking at the valuation I submitted and considers the value to be enough not to total the car. Our only expectation is to get out car repaired not to have to go through this hassle. I assume that BRM is trying to save a much money as possible by low balling and refusing negotiations. But its is costing them credibility. I recommend staying far away from these guys. For insurance or otherwise. I don't wish to say that all employees are like this but then two I dealt with don't leave a positive image with me. I will however, say the receptionist was pleasant to deal with. She was much different than either of the adjusters I dealt with.

It's a company that really cares about their customers. My claim was handled quickly and smoothly. I couldn't take it to the body shop recommended becaue there was no available schedule soon, so I picked up my own shop that did it fast with the check that was sent promptly also. So overall it was my first claim ever and it was good.

You get what you pay for, I guess. Bear River positions themselves as a low cost leader in insurance. Their claim is that they do this by being very strict on who can qualify for their policies. However, my unfortunate experience is that it has more to do with them trying to save costs by shifting as much work onto the policy holder as possible and offering as little customer service as possible. I had Physical Therapy associated with a car accident. When they tried to get Bear River to pay the invoice, they refused to respond to them at all. After several repeated attempts to contact them over several months with with no response (they would not talk to the PT office by phone, they would not return the voicemails left with the claim adjuster and did not respond to the written requests they sent), the PT office asked me to call them to see if I would have better luck. I did not. The Bear River claim adjuster was extremely hostile to me as well and I had very similar experience to what the PT Office ran in to. I'm paraphrasing the conversion a bit but, here are the highlights: I was told the PT company hadn't contacted them and Bear River had no way to contact the company. There stance was that if they haven't paid an invoice it is because the other company didn't do something right so Bear River doesn't need to do anything. I explained how uncomfortable I was with this response saying that I was being put in a situation where, they were essentially forcing me to say either the PT company was lying about what they did or Bear River was lying about what they did and I didn't feel it was right to put me in that position. I tried to steer the conversation back to the idea that, it really doesn't matter who is at fault, I'm asking for their help as their client and asking them to take a phone call with me and the PT company is a reasonable request that they shouldn't refuse. They did not like this response. I was threatened that "If I put words in their mouth they were just going to hang up on me." and then followed with how any bills are ultimately the policy holders responsibility. etc. It went on like this for a while. It was pretty clear that they had no interest in helping me. So, I tried to end the tirade and asked if I could get transferred to someone who I could file a complaint with. They refused to let me talk to someone else, but did consent to calling the PT Company with me at this point. They called with me on the line, left a message with the PT company's billing department then hung up on both me and the company. No further discussion, no callback, no follow up. It was a pretty painful situation. At least I got a valuable life lesson out of it and now know that I should think about more than just who offers the lowest price point when shopping for insurance...which I will now be doing since the idea of ever having to go through an experience like that again with Bear River fills me with dread.

We absolutely love BRM. Our basement flooded in May causing extensive damage. Our basement now looks immaculate and I could not be happier with our experience with BRM! I was also very impressed with our adjuster Bruce and the restoration company that completed the work! They arrived same day even though it was about 11pm and they were there for everything we needed until the project was finished!

My vehicle was lost in a flash flood in June 2023. I submitted a claim with the auto insurace policy and am still working with them to get to an acceptable value. They refuse to use comparables for my vehicle. They are using their own arbitrary value system that ignores comparables. So if I take the value they give me, I would be unable to purchase the exact same truck that I have now. The home owners insurance claim to cover the large amount of equipment and personal property I had in the vehicle because we were on vacation was denied because my policy has a Flood exclusion. The corrupt insurance company strikes again. I am looking to go with another insurance company as its pointless to go with a company that has great rates when they have terrible coverage and service.

Hello, I'm so frustrated with Bear Mutual, I live in Idaho and had an incident with one of their clients. I've been trying to get a hold of someone in the claims department that will help me get my car repaired. I cant drive it anymore and just because it's a bit old they are refusing to pay damages. Ive been calling and trying to talk to different people, left messages but no one will call me back. I'm so so frustrated and dont have a car to drive. It's been almost a month since the accident. Not sure what to do, I'm disable and dont have the money for a lawyer so not sure what to do.

Quite embarrassing that they deleted/censored my first review. I left a bad review for a reason, not to be censored like I live in China. I watched this insurance bully and extort a VICTIM in the situation. The driver was covered by (bear river), who then hit a parked car, then admitted full guilt to the police officer and his insurance. The insurance then tried to do a back door deal with their own little shop, and told the VICTIM that they could not have their car fixed anywhere else. (Which is illegal) I still informed the victim to get their car taken elsewhere for repair, that’s when (bear river) started getting hostile. (Not even a $300 difference between the extorters and actual mechanics) They then sent an estimator to that shop, which also tried to deny the damage done on vehicle, which the mechanics ensured was from that exact collision. Right after the vehicle was fixed they no longer wanted to pay. They took all sorts of loopholes, and I’m sure things that could be questioned in legality. They only paid for 80% of the damage done and left the extra 300 for the VICTIM to pay. Tyler prestwhich, you are a terrible person. You screamed at a VICTIM over the phone, and then bullied her. Little man boy, you are sad. You don’t deserve a job, nor happiness, apparently. I promise you TYLER P., everything will catch up to you.

I am so happy with my experience with Bear River. In fact, I'm humbled. Recently we had $19,000 worth of damage and repairs to our home and Bear River covered all but $6,000 of it. I will be a long-term customer, that I can tell you. The service and communication was really good.

Although I do not have Bear River as my insurance. They handled everything when I was rear-ended. Everything was great, simple and quick. No issues at all. I am very pleased on how the entire process went and how Dane communicated everything with me.

We just experienced our first ever claim through our policy with Bear River and I am happy to report the process went smoother than I could have ever imagined! We were able to file our claim online through the customer website, an adjuster, Ray, called me the same day and we discussed my worries about actually filing a claim (since, in general, in movies and shows, insurance companies are notorious for not paying claims). I was very happy that I'd lowered my deductibles a few months prior to this, and Bear River helped us get our vehicle back on the road in less than a week!

On September 22/ 2021 I had a restoration company come to my home because my kitchen flooded they took good care of me and got it dried out quickly. We started working with Ryan Shaw with Bear River Mutual, So far he has done nothing but push me to use one of their preferred vendors and give me a lowball unrealistic amount that would not even cover half the cost of the damages it is now December 17/ 2021 and my family still does not have a kitchen or any real progress at all

My car was dead but the battery was fine. I called Bear River and they listened sincerely and sympathetically, arranged a tow and were careful to verify it would fall within the free tow guidelines. From first call to car at dealership for repairs was less than 90 minutes. I received a very thoughtful voicemail from the service agent who handled my claim afterwards wanting to make sure everything with my car was okay. I also received a handwritten note from my service agent thanking us and wishing us the best. It was a flawless customer service experience.

I always wanted to be with Bear River Mutual Insurance. I've been a very happy customer since late 2005 - early 2006. Bear River has always handled any claim quickly, easily, professionally, and also kindly with the human touch. I absolutely knew I had the best when a very reputable repair shop asking who my insurance was with was extremely pleased that it was Bear River. They told me they would rather deal with Bear River than any other insurance company because of the ethics and professionalism of the company. Yay, very happy to have had my instincts validated. Canceled my auto insurance and I had no idea! PLEASE READ: I've been with Bear river for a couple years now, switched from progressive because of a lower rate and we were able to bundle our home insurance. I never missed a payment or had to even make a claim so I can't comment on that. What I can comment is their complete lack of professionalism or care for you as a client. I have been going through a divorce and had to cancel a joint bank account where the insurance payment was coming from, I didn't realize this an missed a payment. Once I was notified via email that the payment was missed I called my broker and took care of it, or so I thought. Apparently someone dropped the ball and my auto-pay was not reinstated. However even with me making the payment that was missed Bear River canceled my Auto Policy and did not even tell me! They say they were sending notices in the mail....it's 2021 and they are relying on THE MAIL to tell you that your policy was canceled. I no longer live at that address, my ex does as our divorce is finalizing. Any mail going there my ex has not been disclosed to me. I received no phone calls or emails notifying me of the cancelation. So I and my ex were driving without insurance for over 3 months! Thank goodness nothing happened but the amount of exposure I had for that amount of time, all while never being notified is sickening. All this time my home policy with bear river is in perfectly good standing. Now going to them after all of this they will not reinstate my insurance and have exactly zero sympathy for the situation. If you want an insurance that is going to work with you through life issues and not drop you at a moments notice then look somewhere else.

They've always been great to get me the cheapest car insurance, especially when bundled with home insurance. I can never get anyone else to beat their rates for full coverage.

Bear River has tried everything for a year now to not pay an approved and covered claim. Meanwhile, I have had an open ceiling, and no dining room or master shower for over a year!!! First, they threatened that if I file the claim, they would drop me (I have paid homeowners insurance for 18 years to them and this was a covered incidence). Then, it took their contractor months!!!! to give us a bid. Then, we requested the pay out to go with a different contractor since theirs was so slow. Then, they told us they would deduct 20% from the pay out if we did. Then, we found a different contractor. Then, they claimed their paperwork wasn't in order (this is a reputable and longstanding company). Then, they said they would pay but deduct 20% from the bid unless we send more paperwork. Then, we sent more paperwork, now they claim they cannot open a .jpg file. It doesn't end. They are doing everything not to pay. I have never had a worse experience with an insurance company! EVER!!! BEWARE! P.S. 14 months and they still have not paid!

I filed an auto claim with Bear River a month ago and the Claim Adjuster doesn’t return my calls or e-mails. The accident was a fender bender and I capture the accident on my Ring camera. I sent the video to the Claim Adjuster 4 weeks ago, and she has not even looked at it yet. I have been a policy holder with Bear River for over 20 years and this is the poorest service I ever received from Bear River. I will be shopping for a new Insurance Company once this is all done. I heard Bear River is a local Utah Insurance Company and they are often short handed and poorly staffed. This is a huge reflection on the Company reputation and I’m out. There are better Insurance Companies out there with a much better customer service.

A deer jumped out in front of me and wrecked my bumper, grill and headlight. Bear River was awesome! Within minutes of calling my Fred Mullen's, best insurance agent out there, I received a call from Bear River's adjuster. I gave her the information and before I knew it she had sent over the authorization for the car rental and notified the Auto Crafters that I needed to make an appointment. Shortly after getting off the phone with her Auto Crafters called me to make an appointment for the damage. Everything was handled quickly and professionally through the whole process. I returned the rental and picked up my car 5 days later. It was a great experience. Usually dealing with insurance companies is not a fun experience. The experience I had with Bear River was great! Glad I have an insurance company that cares about me and my car. Great job all that were involved!

This is the first time I have had my car damaged from a shopping cart. The damage was very visible and extremely irritating. The two people I worked with at Bear River, Kimberly and Ed -- were totally responsive, professional, and handled my claim quickly and properly. Very Disappointed !! I had a truck stolen, it was an older truck in mint condition, I could have sold the truck for 27000, Covid has changed the game on Vehicle Cost, The banks are now loaning 25 percent above book value to be able to keep financing vehicles, apparently this Bear River Company doesn’t see what’s going on in the real world, Still playing by the old rules when cars were significantly cheaper pre Covid, I am definitely switching insurance, I lost $6000 dollars due to their choice not to change due to the Changes brought about by Covid, Apparently they play by there own rules, and look for the best outcome for them. Like I said even the banks have had to adjust to Post Covid prices on Vehicles 25 percent more than high book. Not Bear River… They are light years behind the real World!!!

Great service we just switched recently to Bear River from Allstate, saved us about $600 a year. We just had something break on the car while driving and needed to have it towed from Magna to Grantsville, they set it all up and even tried helping us with getting a rental car nearby. We paid $15 for the whole ordeal Bear River took care of the rest. Great service, made it so easy.

Our 18yr old totaled his car in an accident a few weeks ago. It was a very stressful situation that Bear River handled so promptly and professionally. The first agent arranged for a tow truck and quickly sent me info for our assigned adjuster. Jordan was very professional, knowledgeable, and efficient at processing our claim. Bear River has been a nightmare from the beginning!! There are so many other Insurance companies out there. I would think twice before going with them. They told me they can drop for any reason they see fit. The one guy who I deleted with for my car was so rude and didn’t even listen or investigate the Incident. They are very unprofessional. If you ever need to use your insurance, which you will need to some day that’s why you have it, don’t go with this company. They don’t want to help you or have you fill a clam. We had Emuclaw for years before this one and never should have switched.

I’ve had Bear River Mutual Insurance for almost a year now. They have THE BEST RATES!!! They are so easy to work with! We originally switched because someone hit my car and they had bead River. Bear River took super good care of me and hooked me up with a rental for a few days. Since I’ve switched, I had a kitchen flood. It was a huge mess and obviously very inconvenient, especially happening right at the beginning of all the Covid-19 stuff! They hooked us up with a temporary sink and extra folding table, since we had to rip out our lower cabinets. Mike Shaw was our adjuster and very easy to work with! He responded to emails promptly and did a great job communicating everything to us and talking us through all of our options. This week I received a renewal contract for this next year. Many of their reviews suggest they drop their clients after filing claims, but they did not drop us and we are so grateful to have more time with them as our insurance company! I refer everyone I know to them.

I seriously love being able to be insured by Bear River Mutual. They are incredible to work with. I have been in two severe car accidents that were caused by another careless driver and both times Bear River has made the process very easy to complete. When you get in a serious accident, insurance is the last thing you want to have to figure out, but not with Bear River! They take care of you!

After a windstorm caused a tree branch to fall on my car, shattering my windshield and causing significant body damage, the Bear River adjuster was so helpful! He called back quickly, gave me recommendations on shops that work directly with them and others that would just do good work. I went with one of their shops and I’m so glad I did! All I had to do was leave the car, drive away in a rental, come back 2 weeks later, pay my low deductible amount to the shop and drive away in my nicely repaired vehicle! No paperwork on my end. No fighting about what’s covered or not covered. Everything was so easy! Bear River rates are so low too! Every time another insurance company wants to give me a “free quote to see if they can save me money” they’re always pretty disappointed when they hear I have Bear River. They’re like, “oh, we can’t beat those guys.” Haha!

I am a contractor and have worked on a couple Bear River Claims. The first thing that stands out to me is that bear river wont actually take the time to write up and actual claim or scope of work they will literally just calculate the # of squares on a roof & add a random dollar amount per sq so that they don't have to keep up with current market prices or pay for extra labor like step flashing & chimney flashings. All of this is already extremely lazy and unprofessional not write up a legitimate scope of work reflecting current market prices, But lets get into the customer service. I have been working on a claim for the last 2 months, the roof has been completed for close to two months, I sent off all my documentation requesting final payment 2 months ago!!! I have been calling the adjuster since then no response, Finally i got a hold of a new adjuster who was supposed to take over the claim (never heard from him again). Now I am on adjuster #3!!! I have been calling her for the past 2 weeks no response, she then sends me a text saying that she will NOT be calling me back just send documentation to her email (have sent this to bear river already!!) I asked her if she would approve an overage because I have incurred additional cost paying interest on labor and material while they have been experiencing turn over in the office. She said “no” I asked her if there was a reason and she said that she will no longer be communicating with me via text OUR ONLY FORM OF COMMUNICATION TO THIS POINT!!! And then she said that this isn’t even her claim.... I called the main office and all they could say was that stinks. I don’t care whose claim it is this has been some of the worst customer service of my life!!! Please get it together!!!

I think Bear River is a breath of fresh air. I had Nationwide before.. for over 20 years. I needed to make some changes on my policy & their supposed "customer service" made it a complicated process. They told me that they would not change it & I could not do anything about it. I told them I could do something and that was not make any payments to them and cancel. So that is what I did and I got Bear River mutual insurance and I have been so well taken care of by my agent. He made the changes that I needed and I hope never to be away from them. Was hit by a guy that ran a red light. January 26th 2022. Bear river IS NOT WHAT THEY USE TO BE. VERY BAD SERVICE ,PHONE CALLS NOY RETURNED EVEN WANTING US TO PAY THE 500.OO DOLLAR DEDUCTIBLE WHEN THE OTHER GUY RAN THE RED LIGHT. My wife has been with bear river since she was 16. Super Disappointed in Bear River Mutual. I have been a customer for 12 years!! Yes, 12!! I can only think of 1 claim I've had with them in all of those years. I switched agents this last year, but stayed with Bear River. I kept getting 2 invoices for insurance, although I filled out their forms to change agents. I didn't pay much attention and paid both invoices initially, assuming they were to the same account. I was short on my new policy by $13 on one of the bills(difference of bill). I contacted my agent, he contacted them and my agent told me not to worry and they would off-set the difference. So I didn't worry. The next notice I got from them in the mail was 3 months AFTER they cancelled my policy. What?!? They didn't call, they didn't email, they didn't even send any mail, though they said "All of the notices were sent to your address on file (correct address). I am not sure why the mail didn't make it to you for these months that we sent them.." They said they did, but I didn't get any of them. Wouldn't this be a sign that MAYBE I wasn't getting the mail and why my $13 balance wasn't being paid? Would it hurt to send an email to the email address on file? OR maybe a simple phone call? How did I get the cancellation letter all these months later but nothing else...? On my response I asked how do we handle this now because I need insurance and I was assuming I would just pay the difference, some penalties and they would reinstate the policy. They told me, "It is our strict policy that after a policy is cancelled to have other coverage for 6 months before you can try to re-qualify for a policy with Bear River Mutual. I realize that you were customers for over 12 years and we regret that this has happened to such loyal customers. Please let me know if there is anything else I could do for you." NO Bear River, nothing else you can do for me. I'm very frustrated with your lack of help and care. Also now knowing that had my wife or myself been in an accident over those months we weren't covered is really disheartening. It's amazing that $13 is what it cost Bear River to lose my 12 years of loyalty and future business. I know of at least 30+ people who I have referred over the years and 18 of those people still have the insurance. Whether they stay with you or not, that's up to them, but because of how you handled the situation after the several months I gave you to respond, they will hear how I have been treated.

After being a customer for more than 30 years and paying them hundreds of thousands in premiums, they are dropping us because of two at fault claims my kids have had in the last two years. I’ve had Bear River Mutual Insurance for almost a year now. They have THE BEST RATES!!! They are so easy to work with! We originally switched because someone hit my car and they had bead River. Bear River took super good care of me and hooked me up with a rental for a few days. Since I’ve switched, I had a kitchen flood. It was a huge mess and obviously very inconvenient, especially happening right at the beginning of all the Covid-19 stuff! They hooked us up with a temporary sink and extra folding table, since we had to rip out our lower cabinets. Mike Shaw was our adjuster and very easy to work with! He responded to emails promptly and did a great job communicating everything to us and talking us through all of our options. This week I received a renewal contract for this next year. Many of their reviews suggest they drop their clients after filing claims, but they did not drop us and we are so grateful to have more time with them as our insurance company! I've insured with them for over 40 years and my kids in Utah have their home and auto insurance with them too. I've had several claims and every one has been handled with maximum benefit to me, fast service and no hassles about full coverage. There might be a cheaper company somewhere, but I wouldn't switch because I know BR will always pay, settle quickly and give maximum coverage.

I have NEVER written a negative review before. This is my first time. I am so frustrated and disappointed in how we are being handled by Bear River Mutual in regards to a home owners claim. It is causing us financial hardship because we made decisions based on what our adjuster told us and then he later tells us something different. That is when we can get him to actually respond or follow through. I will be adding more detail to this review later because the story is awful. We are still in the thick of it though. Lets suffice to say that they have not made us whole in any way and I feel they have not fulfilled their contract. We have been customers of theirs for over 25 years with both auto and home. Right now, I would not recommend them to anyone.

Horrible company. A client of theirs hit my parked car, he admitted guilt, and so I thought it was gonna be plain and simple. The shop they recommended didn’t even quote out my back door, so I went to my shop. Tyler was horribly unprofessional towards the end of my ordeal. I was asking him questions on why they didn’t want to cover my back bumper, and he started getting snappy with me. I then asked for his supervisor and he said they weren’t allowed to give out that information. Understandable. So I asked if he’d pass on my info and he then said “I can’t guarantee that he’ll get ahold of you, and just so you know. Talking to him won’t change the fact that weren’t NOT paying for your back bumper. “ Tyler could not get me off the phone quick enough. I fought with them for a whole day, got MY insurance involved to try to figure it out. My wonderful agent from FARMERS fought for me but could not win. My agent then paid the difference, with his own money. Long story short. Do not insure with them. If someone with BR hits you, be prepared to fight to get your car back to itself. And Tyler was not a good agent at all. Wouldn’t even give a star if I could.

Garage and other parts of the house were destroyed by the storm. The adjuster took forever to get back to us, and when she did, she stated that all we needed was a new roof for our garage. Update: now the insurance will no longer be sending us funds. I'm very happy I've been paying home insurance that does not work.

I was stopped because of freeway construction and run into from behind. The police report is clear that the other car was at fault. He is insured by Bear River. I called and filed the complaint with Bear River. I was told the adjuster would call within 8 hours. Over a week later, two unreturned calls and a text message, I have not heard a word from the adjuster.

I have had Bear River for several years. I made a claim on a hit and run a few years ago in a parking lot. My agent made me feel like I was supposed to have my work cover it because it was on my lunch break. Now just a few weeks ago, I had some very upsetting news about my daughter needing another brain surgery, in a state of confusion and tears I accidentally put DEF in my gas tank. My mechanic told me to call to see if it was covered on my policy. I was calling as I was driving, and because I didn’t have my dates exactly right, I was interrogated like I was on trial. I had been sitting in a hospital room for days, I couldn’t even tell you what day I had arrived. I didn’t expect Tyler Prestwich to listen to my personal tragedy, but I did expect him to be a little more professional. I produced him with the receipt from the mechanic with accurate dates. A few days later he said he needed the receipt from the tow truck. AAA ‘s policy for a receipt is 7 to 10 days. I went into the local AAA and the lady made some calls for me and I was able to get an email by the next day. Great customer service there!!! But I guess that still was not good enough. They would not and did not give me coverage even though my policy had it on there. I felt like they tried harder to not help me than to help me…. I waisted years of money with this company! Tyler was very rude on the phone, even raising his voice, pretty much calling me a liar. Customer service with this company is a thing of the past. Not sure why he wasted my time and took me away from my daughter if he had already decided to deny coverage. That was what was most upsetting.

I can't say enough good things about Bear River. I've been so impressed with everyone! Specifically Leah, Sydni and Brad. I picked up my brand new car (and switched insurances) from the dealership on the 26th in the evening, and on the 28th in the early afternoon someone backed into me. Unfortunately that driver didn't have insurance but Leah jumped straight into action and got my claim up and rolling. I didn't have to lift a single finger except to answer yes and no questions. They got the rental taken car of, tracked the repairs, got me reimbursed for my carseat and it was the smoothest process I've ever been through.

Pretty fed up with these people. First incident, driving at night, a vehicle lost their tire tread. The tread rolled down the highway a 100 or so feet past them landing in the middle on the lane on a 70 mph highway. Due the the darkness I wasn't able to see it till too late. It took some plastic off my car. Called and they said they we're going to make me pay my deductible and then raise my premium by ~$2,500 spread over 2 years (extra ~$104 a month). Most recently, I was stopped in a turn lane and another vehicle smashed into me. The driver didn't have his registration or insurance in the car. I filed a claim and Bear River told me that if I didn't want to pay my deductible, I would have to hunt down the other parties insurance myself. Useless company that just takes money and then charges you more when you need them.

Thankfully, we've only made one claim. We had an accident and did some damage to both our van and another car. Bear River responded immediately. Jared, the claims adjuster handled everything efficiently. We used one of Bear River's preferred body shops and got great service there. Terrific service at reasonable cost.

They referred me to a pre approved car repair shop (Automenders) that did an excellent job. Because I went with an approved shop the paperwork and process went smoothly. Even with the challenges of getting parts during this pandemic I was contacted by Bear River representatives and the auto shop to keep me informed of the progress of my vehicle. Because of this experience I highly recommend Bear River Mutual and their recommendations for repairs.

I was involved in an incident with someone insured by Bear River and I am appalled by how my attempt to file a claim was handled by their representative Ryan Blankenship. Strung along for over two weeks in a situation where I was obviously not the party at fault, left to scramble on my own to handle how I would get myself to work while my vehicle was in disrepair. He claimed he could not reach his insured before he could assist me, yet when I spoke to the other party myself he never once missed on of my calls and when asked said he never got a call from Bear River. I cannot say if this is at best incompetence or unprofessional lying, or at worst the standard practice of the Insurance Company to have their accessors be this obtuse. In any case, I was beyond dissatisfied with how I was treated when attempting to resolve an open and shut rear-ending of my vehicle.

Previously I had heard rumors that they would drop you after claims, or that teenagers were undesirable. But I have 2 teenagers on our policy now. And one of the totaled a car that they only owned for 1 week. Bear River handled this very professionally, and with out risk of dropping us. As good as any insurance company out there.

Have owned a home since 1996 and always have used Bear River. Two years ago a hail storm came through Davis County damaging everyone’s roof. Bear River told me four times that there was no damage to my roof. How is this possible when every other home in my neighborhood had hail damage. This is not an exaggeration - every home. After being declined by bear River four times I hired an independent adjuster. He met with bear River at my home - and immediately Bear River paid the claim - literally same day. What Bear River attempted to do was criminal. My claim was legitimate claim - very clear cut. I knew it. Bear River knew it - but wouldn’t take responsibility until I hired an independent. Imagine if this is your home, your claim. Don’t walk away from Bear River....run away. So your research with this company. They are not a good partner. Doubt me? Talk to an independent adjuster about who is the worst company to work with.

Bear River made a mistake by crediting our account. It was not known until WE brought the mistake to them. After we notified them, they immediately placed our account in arrears and demanded that we repay amount credited. We're honest people and have no issue paying what we owe. But we were made to feel like it was our fault. We've had no issue with Bear River Prior, but then again we've also had no REASON to speak with them either. Horrible explanations, horrible customer service and just horrible customer appreciation for doing the right thing!

If I could, I would give 0 stars. I am highly disappointed and extremely displeased with Bear River. We heard such wonderful things about this insurance company, but we have had nothing but a horrible experience with them. Their customer service is less than satisfactory. We had a carpet pulled up and holes in our walls cut out due to a burst pipe for 2.5 months. At first, we were told it would be covered by the previous home owners insurance, but when it was discovered that the previous owners also were insured by Bear River, there was some initial go around as to if it would be covered. At this point in time, no one will return our phone calls. Even if we do get someone on the phone, they just say something along the lines of “I will need to look into this some more.” And then we never receive any return phone calls. I’m quite sure they are just waiting for our claim to expire so that they will not have to pay for anything. This is totally unacceptable treatment for clients who are paying money for insurance coverage. How can we ever trust or expect them to cover any additional damage in the future if this is the go around we are getting now. This is BAD FAITH. I DO NOT recommended insuring with this company.

Wind damage to 20 year old siding. Bear River sent their own contractor that had the vinyl siding sent to a lab. The vinyl is discontinued and unable to be matched. Bear River is only willing to replace 1 side with a a different texture and color of siding. This is going to devalue the home and isn’t uniform! If the point of insurance is to bring your house back to the state it was before it was damaged, they are doing a terrible job!!! buyer beware! Bad product.

I've had Bear River Insurance for about 10 years since we purchased our first home. We've bundled and used them for home and car and have never had to make a claim. We did one chipped windshield repair and that was a little bit of a pain but it did get covered at no cost to us. I called Dangerfield Insurance (the agency we've worked with the last 10 yrs) back in September 2020 to see if they did course of construction insurance as we were going to be building soon. They said they did and we got it all priced out. I called two separate times trying to lock it down. The last time I talked to Bob around beginning-mid October he told me to give his information to our bank lenders and have them contact him. We gave our lender his information at the time of closing which was mid- October because they wanted proof of insurance and that was that. We didn't actually start framing until November the 19th. I called Bob Monday, Nov. 30 to make sure we were covered because I hadn't heard a word. I called and he said nothing was finalized and that he had a open quote or whatever it was called so I asked, "what do we need to do to get insured" and again he told me to give our lenders his info and have them contact him. We did and a day later I believe Bob called me back and said he hadn't heard anything. So I said can we just pay the premium or what do we need to do to get covered but he said he had to talk to our lender so I said well do you want me to give you our lenders information and you contact them directly (something that should have happened from day 1). He took their contact info and contacted her and then while talking to her let her know that we can't be insured because we had already started construction. Bob contacted me a day later to let me know that the underwriter said they wouldn't insure us because we had started construction. Nothing to help fix the situation that was entirely not our fault just a sorry but we'd be happy to insure your house once its completed.

I paid the premium last year then got a notice of cancellation from Bear River Mutual. My payment had not been forwarded from the office to Bear River Mutual, no explanation, no notice. If I had not been alert I would not have had insurance. Not good customer service

I was just about to pay my first initial premium when I informed that because I was in a parking lot fender bender 3 years ago where the insurance company said fault could not be determined I no longer qualify for your company? Even with no records of accidents or tickets in more than 10 years of driving. I'll gladly take my by business elsewhere.

I wouldn't recommend this company. Not only do they charge more for coverage, but if you get into an accident, the claim adjuster is likely to ghost you and not return your calls. And their roadside assistance is a joke - whoever they contract with can easily go AWOL and leave you waiting for hours. It happened to me, it can happen to you.

I had to file a claim due to a leaking roof that was caused by poor construction before I bought the house. I contacted Bear River Mutual and they sent someone out to assess the situation. I was responsible for the cost of repairing the roof, but fortunately my insurance covered the cost of the interior damage. Bear River was excellent to work with through the process. Utah Disaster Kleenup did the restorative work and they repeatedly told me how lucky I was to have Bear River Mutual as my insurance company because they truly care about their customers. At one point they had us pick out new floors and the allowed amount was no where near enough to get a similar engineered hardwood flooring. With the help of Chad at UDK, we were able to dispute the cost and Bear River adjusted the price for our flooring. I hope I never have to make a claim again, but I know if I do I have an excellent insurance company, which brings me piece of mind.

Been a Bear River customer for a few years, had our first fender bender ever and the experience with Bear River was AWESOME! Communication about the policy, procedures of who was doing what, what to do with the vehicle etc. Representative Jennifer, was so wonderful to work with. Appraiser was fast to respond and very efficient. For a sad situation, it was a good experience for my daughter to learn to deal with an insurance company. I hope we never have another fender bender but if so, working with Bear River was a great experience.
