My husband and I have been banking with BOTJ for about 4 years now and absolutely love our bank! The staff is what makes this bank so great. Emma Brown is informative and helpful while also being so cheery! It’s so pleasant to call with a question and be greeted with a friendly and familiar person. You’re not just a number here, you’re treated like a person, and they’re always ready to help with whatever you may need.

I had a major financial issue and had little to no options available to me. Emma Brown went to 200% out of her way to make sure I was able to make an intelligent and informed decision, we weighed my actual options, and literally within a few hours (while I was at work, no less) all of my issues were resolved. I cannot stress how much I appreciate the effort she’s put forth here. Hopefully someone important sees this, because she deserves the recognition.

great local bank that offers 1 on 1 service. as a business customer, i never have issues getting change, getting access to my accounts or reports and overall anything you would need from a bank. go see Aaron or Emma today, they will definitely take care of all of your banking needs!

The Bank of the James mortgage team were great to work with, and answered all of my questions to help me through my first home-buying process.

Would not recommend. Bank staff at 5th generally helpful but no knowledge of anything outside cashing a check or basic transactions! Branch was not even decorated for Christmas. Wanted information on business banking and all they could tell me about was about accounts and give me the number of some person who never called me back. Very disappointing and will look elsewhere for a local bank.
