Ascent Credit Union Harrison Blvd, Ogden

I don’t leave reviews, hardly ever, Especially when negative because benefit of the doubt and all that — but this is the biggest joke of a credit union I’ve experienced. After fraud occurred on our account five years ago and less than ideal handling we transferred our joint account elsewhere. My husband decided to keep his personal due to it being his longest established credit line and wanted to keep that for obvious credit score reasons. Fraud once again occurred on his account and was handled horribly. Errors from staff made it obvious we would be better off leaving and taking the hit. Over the past six months+ of attempting to get the account shut down we can not get rid of this institution. Either everyone who has worked with us to close it is incompetent or their standard practice is to hold your account hostage. We have been into branches multiple times to shut it down. Yet every month we receive dormant account notices with new fees owed. *face palm* it’s dormant because it’s *supposed* to be closed. Phone calls to get it handled post visits are pointless. DO NOT trust your finances to a credit union that can’t do the basic tasks. If I could go back in time and advise myself elsewhere I would.

Had a tricky deposit after a car accident, but the branch manager worked with us to make sure everything went through okay. That willingness to work under difficult circumstances while being understanding was really impressive.

The loan department could use better customer service.

They have always treated us well. The employees we have worked with have always gone above the call of duty. One helped my in-laws obtain an emergency loan for medical purposes well after hours. Another employee knows my children's names and what flavors of suckers they prefer. We have a number of financial needs, and we've always been able to get straightforward answers from here, even when the answer is that another credit union has better rates on a particular item. We used to bank with another credit union as well, but dropped them due to nonsensically strict policies. The employees here have always had a common sense approach.

Great place to bank. They may lack some of the resources of a big bank or credit union, but they make up for it with exceptional customer service. I still bank with them even though I live too far to use their own branches -- I use a co-op branch like MACU or Cyprus when I need a brick-and-mortar branch.

Justin Shaw helped us through what was was my first time buying a home. I was a nervous wreck, and Justin’s patience and manner of communication made it so much easier than I thought it would be. I recommend Justin and Ascent Credit Union Ogden to anyone looking for a first time mortgage 💸 A great experience, so far.

I have been a member of this credit union for many years. Overall it is a good institution with friendly staff, but I do not recommend using them for financing. Some policies are not disclosed very well. For instance, you can pay off your loan early, but not through the online transfer service. If this is done you will still be required to play the loan including full interest. I, unfortunately learned the hard way. I ended up paying my loan off more than a year early. Despite being told there would not be any penalties for paying off a loan early, I still ended up paying the full interest amount. I definitely call that a "penalty". Also, the amount displayed through the online banking features is only for the principle owed and doesn't include interest. That makes it rather difficult to keep track of payments and payoffs. I'll keep my funds here, but will be using my other financial institution for future financing.

DO NOT bank with Weber state Credit union. I have never dealt with a more unprofessional bank in my life. They absolutely ruined our car buying experience. And the upper management made it even worse. 0 help and dishonest. Not the bank I ever want to deal with. They lost a customer for life. And to be more specific it was a loan officer named Gina and a Branch manager named Robin :)

We have been members for many years now... Great customer service from this branch every time I visit or call in! Overall, a very good Credit Union💰 I always appreciate the coffee ☕️, candy, and 🍪 cookies that they have to share when I go inside 👍

I love this bank. Customers are first. Staff are always professional. And they have an amazing checking account scorecard rewards program with points that NEVER EXPIRE!
