Zions Bank St. George Reviews

Horrible bank. Their hours are ridiculous… the drive thru closes at 5. Customer service is lacking. I sent my cash through the tube and waited 10 minutes without any acknowledgment. I finally pressed the call button to make sure they knew I was there and had sent my money in. I was about to just ask them to send my cash back if it was going to take any longer. I was told there were other people in front of me. Would have been nice to have been told they got my cash and would be with me soon. I’ve been pretty fed up with the lord’s bank for a while, but this did it die me. I’ll be closing my accounts.

I have banked with Zions Bank for over 10 years, my parents have been with Zions Bank for 20+ years, my siblings used to bank with them etc. When I first started banking with Zions Bank, they were very personable and helpful. Sadly, I have seen a huge decrease in their customer service. My wife and I have 2 checking accounts, a savings account, a business checking account and have done a few auto loans through them. We tried several times to get a business loan when we first tried to open our business a few years ago and they wouldn't give us the time of day. Now, fast forward a few years later and our business is bringing in over $400,000 in revenue each year. When we went to go speak to them again to try and secure another loan to expand to a second location they told us that we could borrow 5th of what we were seeking....again, no help at all. And, just today I went in to get some paperwork notarized (please note that I have had 3 documents notarized with Zions Bank in the last year, free of charge), the lady I have worked with in the past told me that there is now a $5 charge to get anything notarized now. I asked her when they started charging their customers $5 for this service, she answered, "It has always been our policy, however, we just started really enforcing it this year". She did say that if their customers have a Gold Account then that fee is waived. I have several accounts, including my business account, but apparently none of them are the "Gold" status. I told her I would just go to another bank to get it notarized....even though I have been a loyal customer for years. I called up one of their competitors, Rock Canyon Bank and asked the lady that answered if they charge to get something notarized, she said "Absolutely not, come on over!". Even though I don't bank with Rock Canyon they still offered that service free of charge, and they sat and chatted with me for a few minutes. Big plus in my book! Some people may see my actions as a bit extreme, but it is the "cherry on top" of the whole lack of customer care/satisfaction. I am seriously considering moving my accounts to another bank that cares about each customer. A few of my siblings have already moved their accounts to other banks and my parents are considering it as well. You lost your touch Zions Bank!

I spoke with one of the most pleasant and helpful employees named Nanette Rhodes by phone. She assisted me with getting a new debit card and pointed me in the right direction for a home equity loan. She was courteous, knowledgeable and friendly. It is refreshing when you get a real person to answer and speak to. Thanks again, Nannette.

I've really been hesitant to post this, but I feel it's within my integrity to do so to let others know and help in saving them their time and emotions with a poor experience. I won't go into any boring details, however the fact of the matter is that I was 100% transparent in my finances and attempt in obtaining a financing on my home. The loan officer I dealt with who repeatedly promised they could do the deal no problem, within 2 weeks (within 10 years experience, nonetheless), would go through without a hitch. Well, I was 5 weeks in when I had to withdraw my financing with Zion's Bank. At that point there was no end in sight. I received hardly any communication. I had to reach out for weekly updates, and emailed out to check in on how things were going. When I would call in, I would rarely (1 in 4 times maybe) get a call back. It would be days and sometimes I would never hear back, until another 'issue' on their end came up. Trust me when I say, I did not have a difficult scenario. I was over-promised and was on the verge of bait-and-switched with them. So many items related to financing changed in during the course of this loan process that near the end of the loan, they were having me apply for a commercial/business loan on my primary residence... I'm in the industry and was just shocked at how this process was mis-handled. My advice to anyone thinking about pursuing any sort of home financing with this company is to avoid this place at all costs. There are many other local mortgage financing companies that know their products and their guidelines, will be realistic in their timeframes, will communicate on a regular basis, and who will actually close your loan! I took the 'word' of this loan officer and now regret it (I even asked to get confirmation with a call to their underwriting department to make sure of everything). The 5 weeks in interest of the loan I was currently paying on and trying to refinance out of, added up over that 5 weeks I wasted during this process totals out to over $2,800! It's makes me sick to my stomach thinking of it, so please... take my advice and do not get your home financing here.

Very excellent service. They handled my transactions smoothly and very professionally. I prefer Zionsbank over any other because their degree and level of professionalism is something other banks just can't compete with. Thanks Zionsbank

Alan is just awesome. My father passed away a month ago and left things not very organized. It's hard enough to lose a loved one, and deal with complicated accounts on top of it. I have so much gratitude towards this branch because of him. Thank you.

I am not an account holder here. I wanted to cash in a savings bond. Right in the middle of the process, the computers failed. (no fault of the bank). The teller did what she could with what little she had. I had an appointment to get to. She kept my info, and I went on my way. I returned after my appointment and completed the transaction without a problem.

I finally had to leave and take my business elsewhere. They are very unhelpful here and I felt like the tellers were always in a rush and so it never felt very personable. After weeks of trying to get a credit card here, I felt like they weren't even trying. I had to be the one to call and check up on the progress. It's like I had fallen through the cracks and they didn't care at all. Finally I left and a few days later at my new bank I was approved for a credit card.

Avoid this bank. Nasty better than thou attitudes from its staff but not Penny Shelly. Typical looking down their nose if you are not LDS or happen to be of a different color. We have lived all over the world and have never been treated worse and of course dismissively as you are simply not good enough if you are not of the local religous persuasion. All people should be treated with respect whether you have money or not. We no longer give our business to these people and their like and instead frequent National chains.

They will flip the math upside down to stick you with as many overdraft fees as possible. Deposit in the morning and debit card use in the afternoon means they will subtract your withdrawal first to make your account negative and charge as many overdraft fees as possible. They are a FOR PROFIT business and run it accordingly.
