United Community Bank Summit Ave, Spruce Pine

Terrible experience at this bank. I did not feel that my accounts were safe or secure. The staff at this bank were retaliatory because I made a complaint about staff member that lied about my account and gave me false, inaccurate information and was extremely rude. The management and leadership permitted the staff to be retaliatory by allowing them to be rude and unprofessional as they would try to impede my ability to access my own money and utilize my own debit card. When I closed my checking and savings account the staff member did not even count my money out to show it was the correct amount. I’m relieved to have my money secure in another bank. I left wondering if it was the correct amount. The insubordination of the staff to the management and leadership of this branch is the main reason I would never want to have an account with this bank. The times I tried to access my own money to circulate thousands of dollars in this community and spend it in independently owned businesses, they made it difficult to access because they wanted my experience at their bank to be miserable because they are immature and vindictive. The small businesses here should be concerned that their local bank is impacting their potential sales.

United has been great for Run For Holland Foundation. Our non profit accounts are easy to manage and change. The staff has been very helpful to answer questions specific to our needs.

I have been doing business with ucbi since they came to Spruce Pine and have encouraged others to dothe same. But it seems on occasion that a particular employee of the Spruce Pine branch has something personal influencing their banking decisions. Its has often made me consider moving my business across the road to SECU . Its not professional and I regret its taking place.

We found ourselves during the COVID 19 pandemic applying for the Paycheck Protection Program. Being in a small town there was worry if we would get a piece of the pie. John Duncan and the local branch were outstanding. The level of service was amazing and they gave us top notch care. We trust them with our business and personal accounts. ~ Adam and Kenny Burleson

Desperately needed funds on a Saturday morning, I needed to cash a personal check through there bank but they are now closed on Saturdays. Highly disappointed and now stuck without any funds and Monday is MLK day so I’m screwed now….

Great bank for getting a mortgage through but banking is lacking in customer service. Cutting hours like closing Saturdays is unhelpful for the community. Online banking is very limited for businesses only allowing 1,500 dollars to deposit in checks per day (WellsFargo is 25,000). Also after hours their atm machine doesn't accept deposits like modern bank atms though they have the antiquated hole in the wall which doesn't deposit till the next day.

UCB takes care of it's customers. They take care of my personal, business and non profit needs. Always friendly. UPDATE: During the COVID 19 pandemic we found ourselves applying for the Paycheck Protection Program Loan. John Duncan had the most inplressive customer service I have ever seen! I have never been more confident in trusting someone in business. THANK YOU UCBI!
