Tobey's Pawn Shop Rio Rd, Charlottesville

I've been a customer to Tobey's pawn shop for years now and I will continue to return. Excellent customer service and fair price points on specifically firearms and ammunition makes me keep coming back. I called about a firearm and they didn't have at the moment, they called me back quickly to report they had got one in. I purchased the firearm at a fair rate compared to what else is available. If you're not careful the sales crew might just talk you right into buying the whole inventory, they aren't pushy but perfectly professional. Keep up the great work, I'll be back for many more years to come. Thanks again!

I purchase a firearm from an online distributor and has it sent to Toby’s Pawn on Rio Road. When I called I spoke to Tiffany informing her I owners pistol and they will receiving in it in a couple of days. She was very pleasant and informative. She asked me once you know it as been received to call and set an appointment to come in and picked it up. I did and stopped by first thing this morning and she was very help and had the process go smooth and easy. Thank you for the easy and simple process.

Tobey's was the first pawn shop I've been to. What a pleasant experience! The employees were friendly and the young lady who waited on me was very informative and went the extra mile to provide me the information needed for making a purchase. There is much to enjoy about this place. They have A good variety of items for sale. I'll be back.

I have never pawned anything so I cant speak to that. But as far as customer service and just being great people to deal with I can. I have bought several things from them and recommend that you go in and take a look. They have quality new stuff all the time. They also have a great prices and selection of firearms. I have only been to the Rio store but based on my experience there I will deffinitly have to check out there downtown store. Highly recommended!

Great experience—Bill is awesome, very knowledgeable, helpful and most importantly FRIENDLY!! Store is very clean & offers a variety of merchandise to choose from. Reasonable prices and willing to negotiate. I've bought a laptop, Wii, jewelry, knife, sunglasses, and guns from here. Rachel and bill are very friendly and took care of me quickly! I love the layaway option! It's also a great way to get some extra cash by selling or pawning! You won't be disappointed!

Definitely won’t waste my time shopping their online store. I shopped for a piece of jewelry and made an offer. The Offer was accepted . I waited for my invoice and after hours of waiting, I noticed the listing then said SOLD. I contacted the store to clarify if the item was sold to me?? I spoke with Rachel who explained that, no the item was sold to someone else and that their online system is new to them and that there must have been a glitch in the system. Mind you they sold the item to someone else for a difference of $5. They never sent a counter offer or offered any communication regarding the transaction such as the actual invoice. Needless to say I will not be shopping here again. 04/06/22 Thank you for your response. However I am not accepting that explanation as Rachel clearly stated to me that the item was sold with an offer, not the Buy Now price. Furthermore, my offer was accepted but not honored. Someone chose to not to send me invoice for my offer and instead sold the item to someone else for a difference of $5. At the very least someone could have responded with a counter offer or even rejection, but none of that happened as my offer was accepted. Thank you

The people working here were very helpful. They offered to answers some questions by email and then in person. I have been to a few places that sell music instruments (Guitar center and elsewhere), but I will check here in the future as well. Store was clean and well organized. Thanks again.

It's not often you will see the owner out on the floor selling when they are short staffed. This is the only place I will buy firearms in town. Staff is incredibly helpful and knowledgeable about every firearm they have in stock. They show respect and are very kind and reasonable. Best gun prices in town too. Will be coming back often for all my firearm rated purchases!

I walked in expecting to pay a certain price and was delightfully surprised when I was informed the item was $200 cheaper than I thought. Customer service was excellent and everyone made you feel welcome.

Tobey and his team are excellent - they really are changing pawn for good! I’ve known them since they opened their first location on W Main and always had a great experience. They are knowledgeable, friendly, respectful, and most importantly they are fair. Whether I’m selling or buying, I know I can trust Tobey and his team. Tobey and the staff is great. Love the store up on Rio Rd, great selection of new and used firearms and great prices, very friendly and warm service. You feel very welcomed and invited when you walk in. I tell everyone who is looking at purchasing a firearm to go check them out, you won’t regret it.

Tobey's Pawn Shop is my go to for FFL transfers. Everyone in there is great to work with and friendly. I always get the best customer service and they're always happy to help!
