Stewart Title Company Kempner St, Galveston

We closed on a Galveston condo in May 2021 using Stewart. At closing I questioned the tax proration amount. I was told it could be adjusted when the 2021 appraisal came in. The 2021 taxes were much higher, which I paid. I called Stewart for help and was told it was our problem and for us to collect from the sellers . I will not use them again and do not recommend them

Mary was our escrow office and she just didn’t care. The first phone call to her office, and her assistant already trash talk about my Realtor who did everything right. First red flag. Later on, even when asked about a specific question, she never gave me a straight answer. Second red flag. Today, we closed, yet Mary, who ensured me she will do everything to get funded today, was too eager to get home and didn’t sent my lender all the paperwork needed. She has a checked list from the lender of documents needed for funding. Now, all parties are in limbo, seller didn’t get pay, buyer couldn’t get in the house, agents didn’t get pay, and Mary is nowhere to be found. For someone who’s that careless, you should pick another line of work and stop making everyone life miserable.

I've dealt with title companies the last 25 years in my line of business and this is by far the worst. The closer I dealt with was rude and the manager was more rude than her. $2400 left off my closing disclosure and called me a week later to start threatening that they will file a lien against me before I even had a chance to say if I would pay the fees or not. The manager also stated that if I didnt like the fact that she threatened to put a lien on the property I could take her to court and it wouldn't bother her, said she gets sued all the time. Totally unprofessional!

Suzanne was personable and made my first time home ownership wonderful! The process was fast and she seemed as excited as I was.

6 closings in 5 years and by far this was the worst ever! Our closer, Mary, missed a crucial email and her assistant Wendi was to busy to assist. Coming 2.5 hours away we needed a mobile notary. We gave all parties advanced notice. Stewart was nice enough to let us know 17 hours before closing that it wasn’t happening. Our agent called 3 days prior to verify and the assistant claimed she couldn’t help, send an email. That was the email that was missed because our closer was off two days prior and apparently didn’t catch up on emails the next day. We buy a lot of real estate and Stewart on Kempner has lost our trust and more importantly l...our business. Of course it goes without saying, they’ve lost our agents business and our mortgage company too. That worked well because our mortgage banker is our best friend. This one cost you a lot.

Suzanne Crawshaw has been handling my real estate transactions for the last couple of years. She always provides excellent service and goes the extra mile to make closings run smoothly.

This has to be the worst experience I have ever had at a title company. The staff is unresponsive, rude, and seem like they generally just do not care. They have sent emails regarding my transaction to other agents several times and also sent me someone else's banking information... Nightmare transaction is an understatement. I'm a week away from closing and dreading the mistakes that may come up between now and then.

I've closed seven properties in the last two years. Two of these have been with Stewart Title in Galveston. 5 of the 7 were great experiences. You guessed it, the two at Stewart we're the worst. One was a courtesy closure and they weren't prepared and didn't seem to know what they were doing. The most recent was a property we were selling. They put everything off to the last minute. Details were missing and draft settlement statement was incorrect. Made corrections for several days but still couldn't get a correct draft one day before scheduled closing. The closer made excuses and blamed it on everyone else. Too busy to pay attention to detail. Bottom line, there are other title companies on the island. If your realtor suggest using Stewart, I suggest you say no.
