Rhode Island Credit Union Reviews

I opened this credit union account in the summer, the atm card has never worked which is problematic because my whole check is deposited. I came in upon realizing this (you know when I was traveling and the card didn’t work and I had no money). They said it was fixed. You must repeatedly place your number in a machine that looks like the first of its kind, EVER. Went out to the lobby to withdraw some cash, nope, doesn’t work, but I’m late for work now. Went into another branch when I’m back from traveling and they attempt to fix it with the odd 1st gen machine. I am in there for 90 minutes because the machine is so old and will not take the code. The service rep says go out to the lobby and make sure it works. Guess what, the atm is down. I go to a regular atm to make sure I’ll have cash when I am traveling for work and they assess fees FOR CHECKING MY BALANCE. I call CS to get those fees returned and two different reps hang up the phone on me. I went onto my company website and changed my direct deposit and will, on Monday, pull out all of my savings. The lot of them are extremely unhappy. I am going back to Harvard Federal Employees Credit Union

I have been a customer for more than 20 yrs and never had a problem….When I went in for debt consolidation they were more then helpful and help me achieve my goal and as a member there I got a terrific rate…..BUT CAN YOU PLEASE MAKE A APP OR A BETTER EXPERIENCE FOR ONLINE USE ITS ABSOLUTELY INFURIATING but all in all in use case they have been stellar and always helpful…I only use the providence branch though so speak for them specifically.
I apologize for the delay in responding to your review. We are happy to hear that you had a good experience. We are currently working on a new digital platform that will be launched later this year that will improve the online and mobile banking experience.

I have done 2 car loans with this credit union and both with Marilyn Meas. She worked hard for us, very professional, answered all our questions. And when we found a car she did her best to give us a quick closing. She's in the Cranston office. Great employee and thank you for working hard on our behalf.
Thank you for the nice review! We are thrilled that you had a good experience.

Walked in to open an account and sat in the lobby for fifteen minutes without anyone saying a word to me. Two reps, one helping a customer and the other sitting at her computer looking busy. No acknowledgment. SonI am bringing my business somewhere else. Why Sprint partners with this credit union I’ll never understand.
I am sorry to hear about your experience with us and would like the opportunity to discuss it with you. Please feel free to contact Gina DePalo at 553.2206 or [email protected].

Provides outdated banking, online features are sparse at best. There is no banking app. Service is mediocre. To top it off there is not one bathroom available to members out of the entire building at the branch on Francis street in Providence. This bank just doesn't offer much if your looking to bank somewhere in Providence, keep looking is my recommendation.
Hi Jaye - I would be happy to discuss your negative experience if you would like to contact me at 401.553.2206. Thank you, Gina DePalo VP Branch Administration & Marketing

Worst bank ever. Their policies make no sense. No two branches follow the same rules. Tammy is rude and speaks to her customers like children. Their online banking is useless. They claim to have to do everything in person. Maybe of they updated their technology they wouldn't have a problem. The only bank where I can't access my account online and do anything. Closing my accounts so I never have to go there again.

The friendliest bank I’ve ever dealt with. Carmen and Danielle went above and beyond to make my experience seamless. I highly recommend the Pascoag branch!
Thank you so much Rick for the 5 Star Review! We are so happy that Carmen and Danielle exceeded your expectations!

I have had nothing but terrible experiences with the Providence branch. Their online banking is pretty much non existent, all you can do is check your balance and reorder checks. I’d recommend sticking with a well known bank, they offer much more.

The absolute worst banking institution I have ever dealt with. None of the staff members ever smile. The online banking is very “clunky” to say the least. They aren’t open on Saturdays. You’re unable to transfer funds to other account holders (wife, children, friends). The monthly fees for having an account are also more expensive than other major banks which offer much more. Save yourself a headache and thank me later.

I've been banking with RICU for almost 10 years and I honestly do not even know why I've driven myself crazy for this long. I have dealt with some of the rudest people in customer service I have ever dealt with - often with staff speaking to me like I'm an idiot. I've asked Yes or No questions and instead of getting a yes or no, gotten explanations that were irrelevant to my questions. I have waited OVER TWO MONTHS for my debit card to come in, and now I cannot activate it. The hours are absolutely ridiculous. I would never ever recommend this bank to anyone. After this last incident, I will be banking elsewhere.
