Outer Banks Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram Reviews

I had a VIP experience having my lost key replaced for a rented van during a short stay in Avon, NC. Glen was professional and dependable to find and get a new electronic key shipped from another dealer and ensure we could get it before we had to return the car. Moreover, his guys were ready and quick as soon as we arrived with the towed car with faster and cheaper service than initially announced. Glen went above and beyond to help us with our problem, so different than what we usually get in typical dealerships. Thanks!
Glad we were able to help Patrick. Thanks for the great review. We hope you enjoyed your stay!

Highly recommend going anywhere else if able. I have given this particular dealership too many opportunities to provide quality service and have been let down multiple times. The most recent experience being quoted an outrageous amount to complete a job that should have only required an hours fee for labor. Sadly this establishment cannot be trusted to complete a simple job without making a bigger mess of your vehicle, wish there was a better option for jeep vehicles locally.

Our experience with this dealership has been terrible to say the least. We had our 1997 Wrangler towed there because the jeep would not start. Two days later we received a call from the service dept. informing us that our "computer" was bad and there was no longer one available from the factory. The service advisor had no suggestions. I asked about a used one or remanufactured unit and he said he had no access. I get a call several days later from the advisor stating he googled the part number and found one in NY. I agreed to have them order the PCM . After almost two weeks I receive another call stating the first unit failed "QC" and they were sending another unit. I get another call two days later and now the second unit did not pass QC and they were going to try a third computer. I said nope get your money back for the part and I will be back to get my jeep. Next thing I know the service advisor is calling me stating he has a couple wanting to buy our jeep that doesn't run. I said thanks for the offer but we are not interested in selling our jeep. We go to get the jeep and find that it is unlocked and various parts are left loose like the air cleaner, coil wire, crankshaft position sensor among other things. So after paying 207.00 diagnostic fee, the service dept. couldn't even reconnect things they unhooked. Mind you the jeep had been sitting outside unlocked for a month. I was able to find a replacement PCM and it took less than 5 minutes to replace. Very poor customer service.....
Hello Gary. I am sorry to hear that your experience at our dealership was not satisfactory. I will pass this along to our Managers for further investigation. Thank you for your feedback.

Had routine service performed for the first time at this facility. Josh Boswell was the service advisor and recommended several additional items to be conducted. I was pleased with the professionalism displayed by Josh and the overall conduct of the facility. This experience created an environment of trust for the customer. Thank you Josh, Jason and Tom; I will be back.
Thanks for the great review and kind words Gary. Your business is very important to us and it's nice to hear that our team was able to build such a trusting relationship with you. We hope to see you again soon. Have a great day.

Not only is it great to own a JEEP but this dealerships service is First Class! We came to visit OBX for relaxation and sun. The first day my trunk stopped opening, a bit of an inconvenience when you need to get things in and out quickly. I called first thing in the morning and was able to get my car in by 1, the SAME DAY! They were all super nice and figured out the problem and fixed it within a matter of minutes. Your time my vary but having people who genuinely care about your vacation stay and provide outstanding service...PRICELESS! Highly recommend if you are in the area, for service or sales. Thank you guys!!😊

My husband and I went in to get an estimate on selling our Jeep. Worker seemed disinterested and barely gave us the time of day from the beginning. When my husband mentioned some additional features he had gotten on it that might make it worth more, the worker was dismissive and then mocked my husband to his coworkers when he followed him in to get our keys back so we could leave.

WHAT A NIGHTMARE! This was one of the worst, most unprofessional experiences of my life....I was on vacation in the OBX and my Jeep Wrangler wouldn’t start. I had it towed to this dealership to diagnose the problem. It was an electrical problem. We were scheduled to travel back home in a couple days and I was assured by them that they would have the necessary parts in and my Jeep repaired in 2-3 days. Under the presumption that the repairs would only take 2 to 3 days, I agreed to this. Because I had no other way home, I explained that I would have to extend my stay at a hotel in order to wait for my Jeep to be repaired as long as it wasn’t going to take longer than 3. I called 2 days later to check on the status of my Jeep and I was told that they had mistakenly ordered the wrong part and it was going to take longer. I explained that I was spending about $500 a day in additional expenses to wait for the repair of my Jeep and this was unacceptable. They said they would expedite the repairs and they assured me that my Jeep would be done in 2-3 more days. I said I would wait. Another 2 days later, I called again and they said they were wrapping up the repairs and to call tomorrow. On the third day I was told that they replaced the damaged parts but my Jeep still wouldn't start. I now had spent close to $2,000 in additional expenses, and they still couldn’t fix my Jeep. I then asked to speak to the manager. When I received a call from the manager, he was very defensive, argumentative, and unprofessional from the start. After some back and forth I finally said I would have to take legal measures if he didn't start paying for some of my additional expenses his dealership created. He then agreed to pay for a rental vehicle for our drive home and the delivery of my Jeep at his cost when it was complete. Luckily my insurance company covered the repairs. After two months and $7,000, this dealership still could not get my Jeep started. I told them to stop any further work and deliver my Jeep to me. Even after giving them $7,000 worth of business, the manager went back on his word of delivering my Jeep. I had to pay another $700 to have it delivered back home. When I finally received my Jeep I had a automotive repair business that specializes in Jeeps take a look at their work. After hours of testing and diagnosis, they explained that it would cost more to replace the entire electrical system than the Jeep was worth. So, in the end, the new mechanic drew up his report and estimate and I submitted it to my insurance company. After three months, almost $10,000 needlessly spent, my insurance company totaled out my Jeep. I ended up buying a brand new Jeep Wrangler back home. Their loss...

purchased a $46K jeep while on vacation and had issues with it. Notified them day after purchase. Asked us to come back on monday bet left to go back home that saturday. Told to take it to local dealership for repairs since its under warranty and CPO. Told its not covered and Outerbanks Jeep told me I purchased the vehicle AS IS and no warranty. They told us that the vehicle would be fixed at the local dealer under warranty. If not we would of not purchased the vehicle. Now I have My company attorney deal with this shady business practice they are doing. I would not recommend this dealership to anyone looking for a used vehicle. They play the I dont know card or its the first time I am hearing about this. Brian the sales manager told us that our local dealership could look at it and fix the problems.
Hello Mr. Lopes. I apologize for the experience you had at our dealership. I will get with the manager and see what's going on. Someone should be contacting shortly.

Don't know about the rest of the company but the service department needs some work. Called the first week of October to set up an appointment because my 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee had problems starting with the push button. My wife had been stranded several times as it would start after you would keep messing with it. The earliest they could fit me in was on 10/20 which is hard to believe. In the mean time my wife breaks down on 10/8 and tried for 45 minutes to restart and nothing, so we had the Jeep towed in to the dealership. We called twice to see if they had a chance to look at it while my wife is having to use someone else's vehicle in the mean time. They kept saying they took scheduled work first and then would get to tow in's as time allowed. Of course they call us on 10/20 and tell us that we have several issues which would be the rack and pinion which we didn't ask them to even look at and also the battery was about shot and it would cost around $400 for new battery and R&P would be around $2,200. They said the issue with the car not starting had to do with a recall of the fuel system and would be covered under warranty but I had to pay $93 for the battery testing which we didn't ask them to do. I asked why it took so long to look at the vehicle and Tom in the service department stated we have over 300,000 people a week on the OBX. I stated so you mean to tell me it took so long because we have so many tourist and he stated they take work as it comes in. I would advise anyone that thinks about taking there vehicle here that they find someone else even if they have to take it out of town. I will not be doing any other business with this dealership. I never post reviews but I felt like I had to so others don't make the same mistake as I did.

Had a wonderful experience getting my new (to me) Jeep Grand Cherokee from Outer Banks Jeep! They were super helpful throughout the whole process. Josh took his time explaining all of the features of several cars I was looking at. Everyone was friendly and helpful. I was very pleased with the service I received!
Thanks for the great review Sarah. We're glad you got the vehicle you wanted. We're sure you'll enjoy it for years to come. We appreciate your business.

Brought my 2018 Ram in because I was convinced that it needed new breaks (thought I was hearing metal on metal). They worked me in on a super busy weekday, and in a couple hours called to tell me that my truck in fact did NOT need breaks, that the sound I was hearing was just a symptom of the metallic break pads I currently have on. They said I still have at least half the life left in my breaks! They could have EASILY sold me on a break job, and I wouldn't have questioned it. But these folks were honest with me, and because of that they have a customer for life. Thanks to Joe, Glen, and everyone in the service dept. You guys rock!! Be back to see you when I really DO need breaks.
Hi Timothy. Thank you so much for your business and your kind words. We truly appreciate you taking the time to let us know about your visit. We look forward to seeing you again soon.

Awful experience with service department- Went in for inspection and they found nail in the tire. Convinced us to get 2 new tires, along with brakes, on our Jeep. Its on the lift getting brakes and we get a call that we were misquoted for our tires. In order to get the tires that match the 2 on there, it would now be $180 more. When we said thats your error, they offered $20 less for each tire. They refused to honor the misquoted price. When we cacelled the tires, there was still $10 tire disposal fee on the invoice. After I caught it, they refunded it. Simply put, they have no concern for customer service. We cancelled the "fluids" -differential and brake- that they said we needed...I see thats a pattern with them. Will never go back.
Hi Brenda. I apologize for your experience in our service department being less than satisfactory. I can assure you we wouldn't intentionally mislead our customers. My General Manager and Service Manager would like to speak with you further about your visit if you are willing to speak with them. We welcome your call or visit. Thank you.

Best Jeep dealership I know if as of this time. The staff is unbelievable. I suggest the drive if in the market for a Chrysler product.
Thanks for the great review Renee. Your kind words mean a lot to the team here at OBX CJDR. We truly appreciate your business and hope to see you again soon.

The team here was fantastic with my service. I have an older, 1997, Dodge camper van. I had it serviced elsewhere and the "fix" done to my van did not work. I brought it to these guys and I'm super glad I did. They took the time to show me what the problem was and explain the difficulty in the repair; parts were not expensive but it was clearly going to be a labor intensive job. John was the guy who worked on my van from diagnosing the problem to finally giving me heat at my feet! Thank you! Every time I called, the guys were super nice. I will definitely be bringing my van back to have them fix any issues I run into. A+++
Hi Cherie. Thank you so much for the great review and kind words. Your business and trust is very important to us. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to service your vehicle. We hope to see you again.

Service Department was HORRIBLE. I absolutely DO NOT post reviews. Way too many people hold "well I'll just leave you a bad review" over business owner's heads to extort them into doing what they want, but I have to make an exception in this case. I bought my Jeep from this dealership a couple of years ago. Took it in to have a recall issue addressed, and the people in the service department are some of the rudest individuals I have ever encountered. Simple questions were answered with snide comments and truck loads of attitude. Condescension seems to be the language they speak. If you don't particularly enjoy being spoken to like a chewed up piece of gum on the bottom of someone's shoe, I would avoid this place. The sales team was amazing, though. If I could give JUST them a 5 star I would!
Hello Rachel. I am sorry your visit to our service department was less then satisfactory. However, since your visit to sales was pleasant when you purchased, I would ask that you contact the General Manager to discuss your service visit. We are constantly striving to improve our performance and we need feedback like yours to help us do that. If you are willing, please give us a call or stop. Thank you.

OBX price gouging! Untrained Service Department Questionable practices Non-existent Customer Service Values On March 31, 2022, I visited Outer Banks CJDR in Kill Devil Hills, NC to have the following items completed for my Dodge Challenger. 1. NC Safety Inspection 2. Investigate and complete issue with updating UCONNECT system operation causing intermittent phone pairing disconnects. 3. Complete Manufacturer’s recall for Vapor Cannister. Unfortunately, the service was inadequate and misrepresented for the following reasons: 1. NC Safety Inspection not completed a. Indicated inspection could not be completed due to a repair needed to the shock absorbers and quoted $1,048 + tax for replacement. The same parts/service at the next closest dealership is $500 + tax less. (There was no realizable issue with the shocks on the way to the dealership, but an obvious issue on the return trip.) b. Per NC DOT (Sue in Customer Service), quoting NC GS 20-183.3, shocks are not a part of the inspection requirements. c. Charged $2.49 for Vehicle Inspection Document Protection Fee and $12.75 for measurement of light penetration. 2. The dealership ignored the existence of my MAXCARE Warranty on the vehicle, covering all the items mentioned above, with $100 deductible. 3. The technician insisted he could pair his phone successfully, which was not the issue. He indignantly returned to the lobby, indicating that I was evidently putting the USB into the wrong slot. I showed the service department the UCONNECT instructions online. We had previously walked through the process with UCONNECT, following the online instructions, and they confirmed there was a problem. I paid $159.00 for no progress and a poor attitude. 4. The technician asked me if I brought my USB drive, since they did not have the updates. I would have expected a dealership to have updates for their equipment. 5. I was able to find out that the radio system in my car has been discontinued and the Service Manager told Dodge Corporate that there was one available in the US and they would try to get it for me. The service manager promised to personally follow up with me the next day but did not, and told us there was not a radio available. 6. I paid $15.90 for shop supplies, and unsure what supplies they needed for these items.

I've done business with a lot of Jeep Dealers through my fifty years of Jeep ownership and like most owners who think Jeeps are made for work and Play things break. I broke one of mine on the beach surf fishing in Hatteras. Unfortunally my guy in Hatteras was fishing and suggested I call Tom at OBX. Tom worked me in and the Jeep was repaired the next day (glad someone cancelled). The work was done while I waited, which I enjoyed because of the Sales and Office Staff. They took time to let me look at their inventory for my next Jeep (Maybe the Gladatior as my F150 is a little to big for a Senior citizen) This Traveling Man was Very Happy with the work/people/price. Thank everyone @ OBX Jeep
Thanks for the great review and kind words Dick. We appreciate each and every customer and do our best so see that they are treated with respect and kindness. I'm glad we were able to get you back on the road - sorry, beach - and enjoying your day. When you're ready for that Gladiator just give us a call!

KDH Should stand for Kindness Delivered Here! Whether you are local or just on vacation, this should be your jeep destination. We have been looking for my first jeep for several months, and finally found the perfect one while on vacation. Bryan, and the entire team, made the purchasing process so simple. From the Beach to the beautiful mountains of Tennessee, KDH was always available to answer any “new jeep owner” questions we had. This dealership awakened our adventurous spirit, and we can’t wait to enjoys God’s creation from a new perspective. KDH has earned our business, give them the opportunity to earn yours as well. Car trouble is stressful any time, but it especially difficult when you are out of town. Thomas with the service department was able to diagnose the problem and help us find a solution. We appreciate their kind customer service and knowledge! Thank you!

Edit* I have dropped this review from 5 star to 3. The front of the house, excellent and friendly. The mechanic shop. A straight up scam. Always argue and tells me that ally and multi-protect warranties won't cover work. When they do. You have to argue to get the coverage you paid for. Tried to charge me $630 for two tires recently. That's $293 a tire plus tax. Not including installation. Told my coverage wouldn't cover the cost of the tires. Which it does. Showed receipts and multi-protect documents from another shop that covered the same tire damage, including the check stub from multi-protect. Still didn't call multi-protect to set up a claim. Went else where and got the tires plus installation in the same visit for $505.38 and they called and made a multi-protect claim. Saved me $200-225 off the bat and even more once the extra coverage I paid for pays for replacement. Buy a vehicle from them, but take it elsewhere for maintenance. Don't get scammed. 3yrs ago ... What a great experience! Bought a truck today from them. Andrew was very helpful and helped to make the whole transaction as simple as possible. Their finance manager was able to negotiate a lower APR for us which was great and did everything he could to get the payments as low as possible for us. All of the staff was very kind and helpful. Even got an oil change on our other car, had it in and out in no time! Awesome dealer, awesome people! Very happy with our purchase and experience. I would definitley recommend them if your looking to buy a new or used vehicle.
Hello Josh. First, let me thank you for your purchase. I am sorry to hear that your recent visit to our service department was less than satisfactory. You are correct, you shouldn't have to argue with anyone at our dealership. If you are willing, I would ask that you either call or go by and speak with either the Service Manager or General Manager and relay your experience to either or both of them. We want our customers to feel appreciated as your business is very important to us. I will pass this along to our Managers.

They gave me information on where to get my windshield replaced. Update Nov 25. I am taking my Compass there on December 7 for a starting problem. Will update again after the visit. Update 12 /8. They took care of the problem. Expensive but worth it if problem is fixed. Kept in touch the whole time. Nice people.

My wife took her 2012 jeep there. First off the service advisor Shane was very unprofessional. They gave us a quote of almost 9,000 dollars to get it fixed. They stated that we needed a transmission, thermostat and a fuel relay that was on the recall list. The transmission alone was going to cost us almost 6,000 dollars. The thermostat was 75 dollars. The fuel relay was a factory recall. When my wife told him she was going to call me, he hung up on her. The vehicle was there all day. When she picked the vehicle they never changed the fuel relay that was a factory recall. They will never get my business.

REVIEW FOR SERVICE DEPARTMENT I do not write reviews often but I feel like I need to about this place. I made an appointment here for my vehicle's a/c to be looked at. I dropped my vehicle off at the dealership before they opened and filled out the form that they have you put your keys in. On the form, I checked the box stating to call me with an estimate before any work other than diagnostic work be done on my car. I then signed the bottom of the form (like it says you MUST do before dropping off your car). I called the service department at about 12:30pm since I hadn't heard from them to make sure everything was good and they were still going to be able to look at my car. On this same phone call, I talked to Tom and told him that I had already had my car's a/c recharged with freon 2 separate times and that I knew it was leaking so they don't need to put anymore in it (knowing the type of refrigerant is expensive). He assured me he would let the tech know. Fast forward a couple of hours later... Steve calls me to tell me that my car is ready and all that was wrong is that it was low on freon so they recharged it and now it's good to go. I explained to Steve that I had just called a few hours ago to tell them that I knew it was leaking freon so please do not put anymore in it. He proceeds to tell me that it will be $450 and that they will have to wait (TWO months) for the dye in the new freon to run through the system to see if there is a leak. Now this would have been fine if they would have called to explain this to me BEFORE doing anything to the car. He tells me they didn't have to call me about it because it was considered diagnostic. The whole problem is that I called and told them not to put freon in it since it would all leak back out. It leaks into the cab of the car and it's not something I want to be breathing in. I am attaching a picture of the receipt I was given with the work performed. The very first part of the receipt says "leak test passed, charged system and added dye" which was going to be their ONLY fix before I called them out on it. The rest of the story only consists of more shadiness and poor customer service and them finally taking the freon out of my car and charging me the $175 to "diagnose" the problem. My advice...go anywhere besides this place to have your car serviced.
D
I called them after losing my keys while on vacation. I spoke to the service advisor and told him I was waiting for a tow truck and to please wait for me, I was told no problem. 45 minutes later, I arrived at 2:05 and was told that they close at 2 and they wont help me, so i am left with no other option than to delay my trip home for am extra 2 days because they couldn't be bothered to wait 5 minutes for someone they were expecting. I don't recommend these fools to anyone. Horrible customer service. Find a good local mechanic and don't support this place.
C
Truly exceptional service, deserves more than 5 stars. Glen and the service department went out of their way to help us in an emergency and get a replacement key. I can’t say enough about how helpful, patient, and accommodating the whole team was. The kind of service that makes me happy to be a Jeep customer!
Hi Carlos. Thank you so much for the great review and the kind words. We truly appreciate your business and look forward to seeing you again.
