OnPoint Community Credit Union Reviews

Pretty bad credit Union. Dont recommend. (Good if you don't have any banking issues, I guess.) I moved to Oregon last year, and I finally got around to opening a local bank account for my second job. My second job sent a fraud check and Onpoint immediately blocked me from all their services, and cancelled my account (which I get, partly.) My "2nd job" (an indeed scam) actually gained access to my original long term bank and screwed me there as well. The bad part was Onpoint Customer service has treated me like a criminal and been passive aggressive the whole time. They have belittled me and gas lit me to the point that they made cry over the phone, wondering why they were treating me like that. It's been a difficult few months, and honestly Onpoint has made it worse.
Tajsha, We are sorry that your experience with our fraud department was not pleasant, and we understand that avoiding an employment scam can be challenging. Please let us know if you would like to discuss the details of your claim and your accounts. Sincerely, -OnPoint

Professional staff, courteous and prompt when handling a customer or members financial needs and services. Have change counting machine for loose change in the lobby next to the front doors. The Credit Union Application which can be found in the Google App Store is more than adequate to suit all your banking needs and linking other financial institutions with your account to better manage your money concerns.
Pierre, Thanks for sharing your experience! Best, -OnPoint

The staff care less for customer service, and more about getting their job done quickly. This isn't the worst aspect, considering they are located in a rural area they don't have much recall to be so inclusive. Unless you fit the narrow category of customer they prefer to service (Yuppies), then you'd best bank elsewhere. Even Chase has better customer service, and they are just the worst... Strongly recommend you look elsewhere. I bet $100 some manager will reply with the standard brush off, any takers?
Cameron, Thanks for raising your concerns. Our goal is to be as inclusive and helpful as possible to everyone in our community while dedicating as much time as needed to address the banking needs of each member. If possible, please send us your contact info via direct message and we can give you a call to discuss your concerns in more detail. If we can better understand your specific need, we'll be in a better position to help. We hope to hear from you soon. Sincerely, -OnPoint

Just on point for anything because I like the fact that they keep my money local it stays in the community here and it doesn't go outside of the state of Oregon. Yes I have free savings account and my ATM card only works in the ATM and I love that fact helps me save money that way.
Tabetha, Thanks for the excellent review! It's because of members like you that we're able to invest in our community. We appreciate your membership and look forward to seeing you again soon. Best, -OnPoint

Nice Credit Union that I have been a member of for a year now. The staff is always, ALWAYS more than helpful and I have been pleased with their support for their online services, which are nearly on par with any larger bank. Inside is a little dated, but it's nice to see they put their money where their mouth is and don't needlessly waste surplus on superfluous upgrades.

I was in a car accident and unable to work so I called on point to discuss a payday loan. They seemed so friendly on the phone! Then I went in and they denied me because I'm an independent contractor. I asked Nick, who grabbed me from the lobby, why this was and he deferred me to his supervisor Rebecca. She laughingly explained that "half of her staff didn't know how to do loans, or didn't know the specifics". I was shocked! I explained how hard it was to come in that moving for me is excruciating and was met with more uncaring and unfeeling treatment. She seemed taken aback when I insisted that her staff should know enough about the loans as to not waste poeples time, especially those who are suffering from a disability. Rebecca's attitude was the worst thing I have experienced at the branch, and if that's a supervisors level of care, I for one will not be back again. Go somewhere else!

I am extremely satisfied with OnPoint. This credit union has excellent customer service. Their employees are considerate and helpful, and I really appreciate that I can call and get a customer service representative right away, rather than being on hold forever. After finding a fraudulent charge on my account, I called and was helped right away. The customer service representative, Ken, was efficient in starting a dispute claim, and very understanding when my young kids interrupted the call multiple times. The entire call took 16 minutes, start to finish, and was as pleasant an experience as I could have hoped for. Our cooperative preschool recently transferred all our accounts to OnPoint and they also helped us through the PPE loan process. Our treasurer has had nothing but positive things to say about the credit union, especially when comparing it to the customer service we got with the big bank we were previously banking with. I've been a member at this specific branch for almost 30 years (I opened my first savings account here when I was 14 and it was still called Portland Teachers Credit Union). My experiences have always been like this: efficient, pleasant and reassuring. I'm so glad our family banks with OnPoint and would highly recommend it to anyone.
Elisabeth, Thanks for taking the time to share your experience with our team and for your 30+ years of membership. Ken is an excellent employee and we're happy to hear that he was able to address your needs quickly and efficiently. Best, -OnPoint

My debit card wouldn't work. I called to ask what the issue was and was told it needed an update. I asked what update and shouldn't you notify me instead of just turning it off? Answer from them was, I don't know why it just happens. Went into Milwaukie location for a better answer. Pam was not only condescending but told me my phone number needed to be updated. I asked what my phone number had to do with my debit card not working and her reply was to try an explain that technology works that way. Again, I asked what my phone number has to do with the card not working cause that made no sense. She shrugged her shoulders and said she didn't know. She then said it might be a fraud issue but that I would need to contact the fraud department. I asked why I would call their fraud department, being that if there was suspected fraud wouldn't they call me? She again, shrugged her shoulders. Didn't even offer investigate more and get back to me. Instead of looking for an answer, two employees fell on I don't know and an update needed, that I wasn't told about. None of this makes sense and you have now lost my business after 12 years. I will be closing accounts as soon as I find a new bank.

Since moving to this location, OnPoint has lowered customer service by improperly trained tellers. From demanding additional forms of ID when not needed to inaccurate account information to incorrect cashback, the quality of service has diminished greatly. Avoid this branch.
Sascha, Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback. If possible, we would appreciate the opportunity to discuss your concerns with you in more detail. Please send us your contact info via direct message and we will follow up with you directly. We hope to hear from you soon. Sincerely, -OnPoint

Holy shizzim! I started going to this branch when it was called "Portland Teachers Credit Union" back in the nineties! I'm old-lmfao. Anyways, I returned for the first time in many years and had good customer service! The brand new building is so nice! I especially love the coin counting machine! I have been with Onpoint since their beginning and plan to for life!
Jamey, Thanks for sharing! We're happy to hear that you're enjoy the new branch and coin machine! Thanks for being an OnPoint member. Best, -OnPoint
