Montana Abstract & Title Company Nevada Ave, Butte

My husband and I moved from Pheonix, AZ to Butte. We packed up our uhaul and our moving truck and headed north. We arrived the day before our signing and checked into our hotel. Our closing time was at 10:30AM with Sara (or Sarah) and I was attempting to get confirmation of our appointment (made by our realitor based on info from our lender) that we were still on. 10:20 we find out our appointment has been cancelled. I call the title company and Sara(h) isn’t available and no one could tell me what was going on, and I mean NO ONE! I get on the phone with our realitor and needless to say that an hour later I had been told that they held up our closing on a copy of the earnest money check! That’s it! No closing should be held up on this minor issue! I could have written them a new one or sent them a copy of our cleared check from our account but Montana Abstract decided to excel ya instead. We had to pa for an extra night at the hotel and extend our uhaul for another night. Next appointment was scheduled for 1pm following day. I couldn’t get anyone to confirm that appointment either. We have 3 dogs who would be sitting in the truck during closing so we needed to know If we were a go for closing. We arrive early and 1:10 Sara(h) finally joins us. By the way, we had a 2.5 month closing so none, absolutely NONE of this should have taken place. She chats us up during closing and we explain we have a uhaul and stayed in a hotel and that our moving truck will be coming the following day between 8-9 am. At the end of closing she says to us that she has our key but can’t give it to us until the deed is filed and she can’t guarantee when that will occur and I mean if that would be the day we signed or the following day. (I have a moving company coming if you recall). She scoots us out of the building using Covid as an excuse and we are stuck with nowhere to go (unless we pay for more time at the hotel), we have a uhaul that is due back to the rerun drop off in 3.5 hours, and 3 dogs that will have to sit in the truck for 3.5 hours. These people do not care about another living soul as they are not the ones put out. GO TO ANOTHER TITLE COMPANY! Northwest title is in town, try them. By the way, Montana Abstract does not have a Better Buisness account and I’m only going to assume why.

will never go to them again. second time going to this company and every time its a let down. they put you off till the last moment as well as screw you over. do not recommend ever

Montana Abstract is a great company that I would highly recommend! The quality of the work they provide and the work ethic of the employees are only a few of the characteristics that will push me to utilize them in the future.

So far so good. Close on home in 2 weeks and everything has been smooth sailing so far.

To date I have interacted 3 times with MT Abstract and Title Company: Twice as a buyer and once as a seller. My first two experiences (as a buyer) were ok; however the most recent experience (as a seller) wasn’t great. First I received the seller’s closing disclosure and the selling amount was wrong. I requested the document to be corrected and returned back to me. Instead of receiving the corrected seller’s disclosure, I received the buyer’s closing disclosure… of course I deleted that and requested again the right disclosure. Then I got the title documents bundle and my wife’s name was misspelled everywhere, so I had to request another correction. Finally they advised me to select the “direct deposit” option to receive the money directly into my account instead of receiving a check, in order to minimize face-to-face interactions during the COVID-19 pandemic (made sense). I was told that the money will be available in my account the day of the closing or the following morning. However, the following morning the money was still not in my bank account. I later learned that the “direct deposit” option is in fact the check deposited by the MT Abstract and Title Company to my bank account at a time that they select. That’s a strange definition of “direct deposit” and it wasn’t properly communicated from the beginning. Sloppy service overall. Not terrible, but sloppy. I would still recommend them, but would caution friends what to expect.

I had four property closings through Montana Abstract All four went perfectly. I found them to be totally professional competent and courteous. Montana Abstract and Title Co has my high recommendation

Sara Crain was wonderful to sign closing docs with. They were able to get me in right away too!

Watch when you go to this company. They will not fix any mistakes they make on their part. Highly do not recommend
