Lone Star Realty & Property Management, Inc Reviews

Loan Star Realty gets five stars from me! I have had an outstanding experience with the company. I have grown fond of the caring staff. A big shout out to Missy, Melissa and Brenda for being professional, and most of all kind to me. Thank you Missy for encouraging me to make the move to the new property. I love it!
I will be sure Missy sees your feedback. She has a unique skill at helping people find the rent place for each person.

Very efficient, fair, and communicative. We had an issue with our stove and they quickly got to work, sent a tech and replaced the stove within a matter of days. We love renting with Lone Star and hope to get an opportunity to buy our current home with them!
Thank you for sharing! We appreciate the feedback.

I have nothing but great things to say!! Lone Star managed my property for almost 20 years and recently handled its sale. Though I no longer lived near Killeen, I didn’t have to worry. Lone Star made sure I was always informed of goings on, and ensured the house stayed in great shape and rented. If I had to reach out for something, everyone was super responsive and happy to help. I never had to worry and am forever grateful. Thank you!!!
20 years is a long time! Sad to see you go. But it's understandable, its a sellers market. Thank you for your loyalty over the years!

This property management company is the truth!!! They are always helpful and so professional! They take so much pride in finding you a home. The process has been so smooth! BIG SHOUT OUT to Missy and Brenda!! These ladies work hard and will go the extra mile to make sure you are very satisfied! Thank you Lone Star Realty!!
Wow thank you for the kind words! So glad to hear the team was helpful in getting you a place to call home!

I was a client of this company for 9 yrs. At the beginning they were pretty good managing my property. For some reason they stop doing home inspections which led to tenants leaving the property which damages and me paying for them. Some damages were collected from previous tenants. This happened before the pandemic. The last tenant left the property without paying damages for over $2000 which I still have not heard back from them with regards of the collection process. For sales I would definitely recommend the company, but for property management I would not.
Hello Marie, I have checked with the team on the things you mentioned. All of the money owed by the previous the tenants have been paid in full. Our accounting department got them on a payment plan and they have paid their balance. Our last semi-annual inspection on your property was conducted in November 2019. At the time we found the property was in good condition. Your next inspection would have been during June of 2020, this was during the height of the pandemic where social distancing and protective measures were being implemented. The reason we stopped in-home inspections is because we implemented our Covid-19 safety precautions. Which included suspending semi-annual inspections. This was to ensure the safety of our tenants and staff members. Lastly, the outstanding bill owed by your last tenant has been sent to the collections agency. There is nothing further we can do as a management company after it has been sent to collections. Thank you for your business over the years. We appreciate the time that you spent with us.

Lone Star Realty & Property Management are very polite and helpful when you are a current tenant. However, once you become a former tenant, they are very difficult to get a hold of (via phone, mail, and email). I mailed them a letter upon receiving their letter in the mail per their instructions on June 14. I decided to email them about my concerns with the outstanding balance on June 22 and never heard from them. Finally, I called several times, followed the directory of the automated system and left several voicemails. I gave up and chose a different option in the directory to actually speak to someone (on July 6). The lady (Brenda) was not helpful, told me that the Inspections Department was very busy which is why they have not contacted me or addressed my concerns and that I should email them again. Upon moving in, I was given a "Move-In Conditions" form to complete. I filled out the form and turned it in, but they did not put it on my file. Now I am being charged for "missing closet doors" (which were located in the laundry room, which is where they were when I moved in), a missing shelf in the freezer, and a dent in the wall next to the dishwasher. I gave my notice 30+ days in advance and moved out by the 7th of the month. As their move out requirements, I had utilities turned off 5 business days after leaving the property. I did not have the carpet cleaning or professional cleaning done, due to personal circumstances. Without the "Move-In Conditions" form, moving out 21 days early, paying that entire month's rent, plus my entire deposit, I still have an outstanding balance. Of course, I will pay my outstanding balance. As a landlord myself, I understand taking the whole deposit for wear and tear, cleaning services, and repairs. However, to go after a former tenant for utilities is just foolish. If I return to the Killeen area, I will not be renting from this property management group.

This review is based solely on my interaction with Missy. Being new to Killeen, the search for apartments was arduous. I pulled up to the Lone Star drive thru and Missy, a godsend, made the process easy and simple. She was able to help me navigate the list of available apartments. She helped me narrow down the list to my specifications and advised me to apply for the apartment that I am currently in. She was very informative and patient with me and for that I am grateful. She deserves 5 stars!
Thank you for recognizing Missy! She is known to have a happy smile when speaking to people at our drive-thru window. We are glad she made the process so easy!

IF I COULD GIVE 0 STARS I WOULD. I don’t recommend this leasing company to anyone. Very rude staff! Very careless. All they care about is collecting the rent monthly. I have issues with my home since I moved in. Save your time, money and stress. I’ve asked several times to speak to the owner of the home and their response was “you can’t that’s why we’re in place” but yet still don’t wanna help. I’ve gotten hung up on as well as place on hold and never got back to. All because I’m a tenant in a home they manage, DONT WASTE YOUR TIME.
One of our primary roles is to be the sole communicator to tenants. Owners use a professional management company for a variety of reasons and communication is one of them. As a tenant, all communication goes through Lone Star Realty directly. If you were to share more information of who you are and where you lived I could address the other issues you had.
M
Lone Star Realty and Property Management were extremely helpful and present in the process of managing our property while renting it and just as helpful in the process of selling it. Would recommend this company to my family and friends and to anyone who need a little assistance with navigating the road of being a homeowner.
As a full service real estate company we are happy to make the transition from being a landlord to being a seller an easy one for you. Thank you for the 5 stars!
N
If you are looking for a professional property management group THIS IS THE ONE!!! Super friendly staff warm and welcoming office knowledgeable and compassionate. I will defiantly be Renewing for as many years as I can!
Thank you for the compliment! Please spread the good word!

If I could rate less than one star I would. The apartment I moved into was unsafe, dirty, and reeked of cigarette smoke. The staff was extremely unhelpful unless it came to making payments. Maintenance is spotty at best, sometimes their contractors would never show up and mark the job as complete. Several of my appliances DID NOT WORK when I took control of the apartment, including the refrigerator and the AC in the middle of summer. They are predatory, and forced me to pay an additional month of rent after I received deployment orders and vacated the premises. Do not utilize lone star, do not let your soldiers use them. Giving them a lone star is very fitting given their arguably illegal and amoral business practices.

We have been renters with this company for 6 years. We absolutely love them! They are fast at fixing any issues and go above and beyond to help you! I have to give a huge shout out to everyone that works there but a little extra for Ms. Brenda! She is absolutely an amazing person and I hope she knows how much she is appreciated! I highly recommend them if you take care of your home and pay your rent on time!
Jennifer I showed her your message and here is her response. Brenda "Thank you I couldn’t do my job without the other departments doing their jobs. It is a team effort."

This is my second rental property with lonestar. I moved to Texas October 31 2019 and was in my first place within 3 weeks. The ladies in the office are all friendly and professional and they worked with me to rent a nice dwelling despite my not so perfect rental history. When that lease was up, I moved into my current dwelling. Every work order that I put in is responded to and assigned to a vendor immediately. This tells me that the up keep of the property is top priority to them. If I purchase a home in Bell County, I'd most definitely use this company to manage it if need be. My only issue is, My dog and I have fallen in love with the second rental, but we have to move because the owner is selling and I'm not ready to buy. Everytime I go to the drive through to pay rent. I am greeted with a smiling face lol. The ladies are just adorable. To any future renters, fill in your move in inspection sheet thoroughly and pay your rent and you should have no problems. Put in your work orders (if you have any) through the portal and you'll get a faster response. To all homeowners, you guys are in good hands! Happy Thanksgiving!
Wow thank you for the exceptional compliment! It is great to hear from you. We are glad to hear the staff has been welcoming and inviting to our tenants. Merry Christmas to you!

My Wife and I have been working with Lone Star Reality for over 11 years; they managed our home while we lived out of state with the Army. During that time, Lone Star ensured that our house was properly maintained and cared for. They worked efficiently with both us and the residents and if issues came up with the house, Lone Star quickly moved to correct the issues. When the time came to sell our home Mrs. Karen and Mrs. Kimberly walked us through the entire process. If we had questions, they answered them clearly, making sure that my wife and I understood and were comfortable with the entire procedure. Thanks to the efforts of the Lone Star team, our home sold quickly and with no issues. I hope we get to work with them again in the future.
Thank you for your service Jason, we greatly appreciate everything you do for the military! Our soldiers are important to us and it is great to hear back from you. We would also love to work with you again.
D
We started out renting from them and they were amazing, then we bought the house while living in it. We moved out of state and chose Lone Star Realty to manage our house. The home was rented out the entire time we were gone with no issues. Our current tenants found another place because we tentatively planned on moving back in, but we decided to buy another home, therefore we immediately informed them to allow the tenants to continue living there if they wanted to, but the tenants already found another home to move into. Melissa Black at Lone Star Realty had a lease signed for new tenants to move in before the old tenants moved out. I’m very pleased with their service.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. Melissa has done an exceptional job at marketing our owner's properties. It's great to hear a tenant pre-leased your property that fast!
C
The customer service is horrible and they will charge you for things that happened before you moved in. They will also find any way to take money from your security deposit, even when you have picture proof that you left the place in better shape than when you got it. Do not rent from them.
Any charge that is disputed by the tenant is explained, and shown our move out pictures. Unless you notated damages in your move-in condition form you are responsible for the damages. We had to have a professional carpet cleaner and a general cleaner to get all the spots you missed when you moved out. Still after those charges you received more than half of you $550 security deposit back.

I have used Lone Star Realty & Property Management, Inc. to serve as my property manager back in 2008 and have gladfully stuck with them ever since. When I decided to sale my property this year (2022) it did not even cross my mind to use another realtor because they have always been that good to me. In both regards, property management and selling my property the good people at Lone Star have been nothing short of incredible. The customer service has always been excellent, which is a rarity these days. In both aspects of the different services they provided me, I never once had to worry about what was going on. Any issues were always addressed immediately and all questions were thoroughly answered. If I ever find myself in another property manager or realtor in the Killeen area they will be the first call I make.
Thank you for all those years of trusty us to serve as your property manager. It was an easy process going from managing your property to selling it, thanks to the communication between our property management staff and expert realtors.

If I could give a 0 star review, I would. This is a predatory rental agency, not just for renters, but for homeowners that want to rent out their property. I've been in dispute with Lone Star since 2017 over arbitrary charges that they levied against us after move-out, and they refuse to discuss anything - instead sending us straight to collections. They do not conduct pre-move out inspections, and will not conduct move-out inspections with tenets present. They refuse to itemize charges, simply listing "repairs" with no explanation of what was repaired. They charged us additional cleaning fees even after we used their recommended cleaning company. One of the charges was to replace the carpet "at the owners discretion", because they claimed the pet odor was too strong to rent out the property. I know the owners personally and they knew nothing about replacing the carpets, stating that the house had new tenants almost immediately after we vacated. After discussing other charges with the owners, we discovered that Lone Star had charged both of us to fix a broken sprinkler head, but never actually fixed it. Lone Star had told us the owners decided not to fix it, and told the owners that it had been fixed. They are also impossible to talk to unless you personally go into the building. Their phone system only goes to full voicemail boxes, or to the one receptionist who will redirect you to come to their office, go their website, send an email, or write a letter. They will never discuss anything over the phone. Renters beware, this company will try to bleed you for any money they can, making up damages and other charges in order to keep your security deposit and even charge you more money.

Wow Lone Star has been so Wonderful to My Wife and I. When looking for a home they have been nothing but helpful. My wife and I are so appreciative of how the customer Service was amazing. Not to mention how patient they have been with us. Shout out to Missy and Christina for all the great work and great communication with us. We were so happy we found them. Highly Recommend!!!
J
We have used them to manage our property for almost 5 years. They have taken care of our property really well. The yearly inspection never fails for us. They sent us pictures of the current condition of our house. We used Karen and her team to sell our house. Our house was put on the market mid- March, within 24hrs, there were multiple offers and was sold 4/30. We are very pleased with their service. I'd recommend them if you are looking to rent your home or looking to sell, or just do both! Thank you for all you have done for my family!
S
Lone Star was nothing short of amazing. We experienced both parts of the company. The property management company was spectacular. They managed our property for 2 years before we decided to sell. We originally chose them because we had rented a property they had managed for several years and couldn’t believe the cleanliness of the home and how well it had been maintained for being ten years old . They hold high expectations from both the renter and owner to ensure the property appearance and condition are always at its best. When it came to selling our home we could not have been more pleased. Professional pictures were taken, advertised across many platforms and showings were scheduled back to back. Our home received an offer within just a few days of being listed! The entire team was great to work with. With us being in a different state they made the entire process hassle and stress free. It was a pleasure working with lone star!

Lone Star Realty has been managing my property for almost nine years. In that time they have provided me with fantastic customer services, especially in the last year. I had a tenant abandon my property, and they did a great job of handling the paperwork and legalities that came from that situation. I then decided to sell my home, and Lone Star was there to help me through the home selling experience. As I was preparing my house to be sold proved to be challenging due to a major foundation repair and a few other minor issues. But Lone Star Realty was there to help me through the processes of getting the right contractors that would do the job correctly and at a competitive price. Once that was sorted out, they made the selling process easy. They were quick to answer all of my questions and provided guidance every step of the way. I can't specifically thank Karen enough for all the work she did on getting my house sold! She was an absolute pleasure to work with.
Hi Thomas! Thank you very much for the 5-star rating! We were fortunate to have you as one of our long time property owners and we appreciate your business! Our Broker is so happy that she was able to take care of all your needs in an expedited manner in any way shape or form! Please do not hesitate to contact us if you might have any other Real Estate needs, it was a pleasure working with you! Please be sure to refer your friends to Lone Star Realty & Property Management! This is by far the worst experience I have ever had. When it came time to moving out I paid a cleaning lady to professionally clean the home. I figured I still wouldn’t get my deposit back as I’ve heard horror stories. I was not expecting to get charged $280 extra! The comments on replacements stated I did a lot of damage, but majority of damage was there before. Completely inane. The company charged me to fix a shed door I never used, and for patches on a fence that were there prior to move in! Please read the reviews and consider them before ever using this company. They will use your money to fix things that should’ve been fixed before you moved in!
J
I have used Lone Star Realty & Property Management to manage my 5 rental properties in Killeen since 2005 (16 years). Their owners, management team, and maintenance team are absolutely superb! Truly the best property managers and realtors I have worked with in my 24 years of buying and renting properties throughout the U.S. I highly recommend you choose Lone Star to be your property managers.
N
It seems most tenants have the same issue with this company. Lone Star Realty is money hungry and does not care about their tenants no matter how good they are. I will be taking legal action against Lone Star Realty. There are several reviews of which multiple tenants are being financially affected and in turn is causing emotional distress for years to come. It seems as if this type of unprofessional and greedy behavior have been in place for years and the right legal action has not been looked into against Lone Star Realty. I am dedicating my time to make sure their ways are looked into.
S
I've only been a tenant with Lone Star Realty for a short time now but so far they have been cordial, understanding and professional! The first time I viewed the property I wanted, I expressed my interest to Melissa at the front desk. Each visit she would ask me if I'd applied for the place, or if I'd been accepted yet. After getting approved, she seemed genuinely excited for me. Today while in the office, she asked me how I was enjoying my new home. She remembered me and took the time to ask about my experience! Missy at the front was very helpful and friendly too! It was my first time paying rent and she made the process fast and simple. I had to make two work orders in one week for some minor issues with the place. Maintenance came and fixed the problems quickly and efficiently, even on the same day on one occasion! So far service has been excellent. Thanks Lone Star!

Before leasing I asked to see the property multiple times and was given numerous excuses of it not being ready yet. I had a time line to move out of old place so I signed the lease without seeing the property. Upon moving in, I was very displeased. Only one burner on the stove worked, there were dead roaches in lots of the kitchen cabinets, the carpet was very stained and bleached throughout, there were also runs in the carpet where just pieces had been replaced but it wasn’t connected properly to the surrounding pieces, there was some type of leak under the kitchen sink previously and that whole cabinet area looked like it had bottomed out and they tried a quick fix but it smelled of mold. I moved in 6 months pregnant so I was already annoyed because if I had been afforded the chance to view the home I wouldn’t have moved in. I immediately complained and was told that all I could do was put in work orders. I immediately put in a work order for the stove and after no response for 2 weeks I called and it was finally replaced. Put in a work order for the grass that wasn’t cut and was told a vender would be sent. No one ever came. Put in work order for the carpet and was told the owner doesn’t want to replace it so there was nothing they could do. There was a wasp nest at the back door that neighbors warned me about and told me they called the company before I moved in to fix (they had a sign in on the lawn that said FOR RENT)and nothing happened and could I please get rid of it(mind you I’m 6 months pregnant). I ended up calling my NCO to help me. The only reason I gave them more than 1 star was because my air conditioning broke and a vendor was sent over immediately (within an hour). Overall, I had a negative interaction with this company and wouldn’t recommend

They have been managing my property for about 7 years now. We've had a couple hiccups along the way but overall I am very pleased with my experience with this company. They are very easy to work with and communicate very well with me. Whenever there was an issue it was easily and quickly resolved.

If you want a property management team that takes care of your investment, I highly recommend Lone Star Realty. Lone Star Realty & Property managed my rental property for 7 years and they always provided excellent service. Communication was great and they always provided us with our tax documents on time. Recently, Lone Star Realty sold our property and we are very satisfied with their services and the results. Karen and Kimberly were there every step of the process and provided us with everything we needed to close on the deal. I highly recommend the Lone Star Realty team to manage your rental property or real estate needs.

I was out of town all last week during the frigid weather anomaly. I opened up a conversation on the tenant portal, requesting that someone stop by the house to turn up heat, open cabinets and start faucets dripping. I received a reply after Lonestar’s visit that the house was in good shape, with no evidence of freezing pipes. A few days later I received follow-up comment asking how the property was doing. I appreciate this excellent service.

Lone Star Realty & Prop. Management have been managing my Killeen property for over 11 years. The team has been extremely professional when attending to every need of the tenant, property and mine, quickly attending to any issue that may arise. I truly appreciate how they have managed our property, as we have been away from the area while serving on Active Duty. Thank you!

Refuse to make tenants responsible for their behavior. To wit.. excessive amount of noise after hours , trash being thrown out in parking area.. violating the peaceful enjoyment of other tenants ! I am disabled with anxiety and this tenant has caused nothing but sleep deprivation. Office has not responded to my complaint to these last complaints. I think police are going to have to get involved concerning no supervision to your children being left alone sometimes four ten hours. All under the age of thirteen !

I was in need of a new place and Lone Star Realty was able to provide me a home to move into in 24 hours. Missy is such an awesome person. She helped me through everything. She is very knowledgeable, caring and compassionate. She gave me and answer as soon as possible and walked me through what I needed to do to get a place. Thank you so much for your help Missy. I would definitely recommend this place to rent from. They have awesome staff and they are willing to work with you and assist you in a timely manner.

As a property owner, I've been very impressed by Lone Star. They took over my property from another less reputable management company and I've never had an issue with them. The entire team really takes care to get your property rented and maintained properly. Linda in the maintenance department has done an outstanding job of getting repairs done quickly and keeping me informed. The inspection team of Daniel and Sarah are very thorough and complete the inspections on time so, as an owner, I know what's going on with my property. Would highly recommend this management company.

I was in need to find a professional and honest property management company to manage my property as I am moving to another city due to a new assignment. Lone Star Realty and Property Management no only provide me the best professional assistance and services, but were very friendly and quick to get my property on the market. Many companies in town could had helped me, but Lone Star has the Personal attention approach to their customers. They go the extra mile to help you all the time. Thank you Lone Star Realty. 👍🏼👍🏼
Thank you very much for the 5 star review Mr. Mendoza! We appreciate your business and happy to take care of all your property management needs!

I have rented many other place over the years. And I never had any issue or problem with Lone Star. I was always treated amazing from the first day I walk in the door. To setting up my move out inspection. I am sad to leave such a great company. But I am moving out of state. I have been a loyal tenet with them for 4 plus years. And Tori at the front desk is very professional. She always has a smile. Brenda made the leasing process super easy. And my quarterly inspection where always super easy and passed. Thanks again you guys!

Ever since my end neighbor moved onto the property my life has been a living hell. Not only is she harassing me she uses Lonestar Realty to harass me. And instead of them calling or coming out to check the validity of these accusations they bombard me with ridiculous lease violations that are absurd! I have lived in this unit since January 2020 and now all of a sudden because of my crazy neighbor I have lease violations. Please respect the business people have with your company and try to maintain some common sense when it comes to living in duplexes.
F
There was an issue about our rent we had called and left a voice mail. No one returned our call. We call today and YOUR ladies suggested to check back with our bank. She offered no help to us. I would suggest you train your staff on customer service. I wouldn’t be so upset with your service if this wasn’t the only problem. When we moved in there was so many damages!! We literally have to clean the cabinets & stuff. I should’ve read the reviews but my husband and I were just so ready to be together.

Lone Star Realty & Property Management managed my rental property for many years and they are the Best in the Business. I just sold my house using Lone Star Realty as my realtor and Karen handled the sale personally. Throughout the entire process Karen consistently kept me informed with where we were in the process. I cannot thank her or the company enough for making my decision to use them an easy one. I highly recommend using Lone Star Realty for all your buying/selling or property management needs.
Michael, Thank you so much for your longstanding relationship with Lone Star, we are always sad to see owner leave. In the same regard we are so happy to have been able to help you get the property sold. We appreciate your trust in Lone Star Realty! We wish you the best in the future!

I was provided with superior service when I rented from Lone Star Realty. Linda Sito is an amazing maintenance manager. Not only did she find me the perfect rental for my needs, but she handled any issues, questions, and maintenance that I requested promptly and professionally. Linda was also able to find me the cleaning service for my move out which allowed me to get the full refund of my deposit! She was very personable and dedicated to providing the very best experience and service I have ever had in renting.
I
This is truly an amazing company that, in my experience, has led me to see that these folks really care about the people they serve. Missy is really sweet, professional, and passionate about her work. I am happy that I chose Lone Star to help me find my home!
A
Very very stressful experience, just know I make 3× the rent , yes I had a amount due on previous rental paid and full, they charged me double the deposit, and I needed a co signer that had to fill a application as well and pay a application fee, because my credit was low due to credit cards I owe (less then 200 dollars)if your a person of color made financial mistakes in life and in the process of cleaning your life up for the better good. Don't recommend them for help, these people look down on you instead of helping you.
We do have policies and guidelines in place for potential tenants that screen for a variety of things. Among those is money owed to previous companies, but we do offer some options such as having a cosigner. They too have to submit an application because we must make sure they meet our guidelines as well. The application fee is charged to anyone who applies, it is not charged to anyone unless they want to apply for a property.
S
I don't even know where to begin. It all started when they listed a house for rent that was not able to be rented due to foundation issues to the property. I understand sometimes things like this just happen, but would expect my application fee of $105 to be refunded because they took that for a home that was not able to be rented. They said yes then said no and were very wishy washy about it and ultimately did not refund that until I annoyed them into it. At one point they didn't even know who I was and said there was no documentation with my name on it. That's interesting.. because you certainly took my money! They left the house that couldn't be rented on their website and continued to accept applications to it as well which was incredibly bothersome. I called and left messages with my name and phone number and never got a response. I sent emails and never got a response. I told them I was going to dispute the charge and that's when they took the time to send a one word email saying "done" when discussing my refund. Absolutely unprofessional and ridiculous. Do not even submit applications through these people. They refunded me $100 which was $5 less than they took, it was about principle at that point. They also took more than they said they would in the initial application. I can't imagine actually being a renter with these people, I'm so sorry to all you that have had to deal with them on that level! Do not submit applications with them!!

Our family has been with this management company for the past 10 years and we have nothing but great things to say about this company. Being in the Army and deploying multiple times never stopped this company from communicating with us regarding our house. Management took care of our house like it was theirs. Mrs. Karen and her team worked around the clock making sur3 our house was ready to hit the market and we managed to closed within one month. This company came in highly recommended from other co-workers and we can see why. Thank you so much and best believe if we do move back to Texas we will make sure we use this company again .
Thank you for using both sides of our business! Some don't realize we do sales and property management but as it happens Karen is one of the top realtors in the area. Thank you for the kind words.

Do. Not. Do it. They have cheap rent which is what everyone is looking for but please remember- you get what you pay for. I was with lonestar for two years, we always paid our rent on time and never caused any issues. We passed inspections, I even had a maintenance person tell me that my house was the nicest he’s seen in the neighborhood. We saw constant rent increases every year. We started at $575 and ended at $725. They told our neighbor the jump was because of covid and so many families not being able to pay their rent. The maintenance was honestly okay. Not great, still a headache sometimes. Things like shelf’s in the fridge not being there when we moved in were denied of being fixed being it was “cosmetic”. The worst part is, upon moving out, they’re trying to charge my entire $475 deposit and an additional $180. We’re being charged a $235 cleaning fee and I spent days following their list and making sure everything was scrubbed to perfection. They charged over $100 for carpet cleaning fee even though I handed in a receipt and got them professionally cleaned the day before we left. The best part is they tell you even if you dispute it, if they can’t figure it out in 30 days they’ll send it to collections with a 40% up charge. It’s a scare tactic it really is, it’s like “is it worth it to fight if we might have to pay more in the end.” On top of all that when I moved in it was soooo dirty. There were pots and pants in the cupboards, q-tips in the drawers in the kitchen. Staining everywhere, it was not kept up well. (So they don’t clean with the cleaning fee). I walked in and almost cried because it smelled and my friend had to say it’s okay let’s start cleaning. Read the reviews!!! They only comment back to people when it’s convenient to tell them they’re wrong. Most of the good reviews are people who want their property managed not people who rent. I’ve had a neighbor have to leave with nowhere else to go because of rent increases they couldn’t afford. I will update my review with how they handle my dispute process so everyone really knows what they’re getting into. They even close down your tenant portal once they send the final bill so you can’t access records or anything for proof. Lucky for me I took photos of everything before we left because so many people told me the horror stories. Pay more for a better experience and for people that will respect you.
Although, I can not find your name in our records I will still address the claims made. Rent increases are based on a variety of factors. Which include but are not limited to rising property taxes, rental market, and insurance rates. When deciding to raise rent we often come across tenants that are now paying $300 below market. In which case we often meet in the middle to ease the burden on both the owner and tenant. For good tenants this is a benefit to the owner as rent is going up but hopefully not too much where they vacate. For deposit reconciliation we are legally require to handle everything within 30 days. It is not a scare tactic, it is the law. This is actually to protect renters from management companies who keep the remaining deposit that is owed to the tenant for too long.
H
When we told them we hadn't had AC for days with a new born baby the owner said "its nice outside, why don't you open the windows". What made it worse is she showed up unannounced trying to show a potential buyer our condo and said that right in front of him. Once we moved out they tried saying we didn't pay 2 pet deposits (when we did with receipts) they refused to pay us back for the pet deposits. It's been 3 years since I lived there and I'm still in disbelief from that company. Moving in a bathroom sink was cracked and they tried blaming that on us to EVEN THOUGH we wrote it down in our move in sheet. They are a Absolute scam company. RUN!
Haley, I have looked into this but I do not see any leases with your name on it. Still, to address the claims, we consider AC to be health and safety. When work orders come in for the AC it becomes our priority. However, our communication procedure never has owners contacting tenants directly, as that is the reason we are hired to manage a property. You mentioned you lived in a condo and we do not manage any condos. When it comes to charges, we take pictures of properties before move-in and refer to them when tenants move-out. All charges/payments are posted to the tenant portal so that they may be seen at any time during the tenancy.
J
I would not rent here again. When we showed up to the property it was disgusting and filthy. Trash still in the drawers, spray paint residue on baseboards to hide dirt, not even a clean AC filter. We cleaned the apartment on the way out probably cleaner than it ever was and was charged a cleaning fee for leaving an extra, untouched roll of paper towels for the next tenant. They cut us off from emailing them and tried to charge $200 over the deposit we already paid them. I 100% would avoid this company. I’ve rented from 4 different realty companies and I have never had a worse experience.
Here is a link to why your were charged. https://photos.app.goo.gl/GUNwBcEckLFxEwxt5 Everyone must fill out a Move-In Condition Form, had those things all been an issue you would have included them on that form. Which you did not include any of the things mentioned above.
j
They fight you on every single maintenance request, so don’t expect good service. They charge a deposit just to try to overcharge you money on the way out. If you have the opportunity to rent with someone else, DO IT. My rent was less than $700 and I still feel cheated by this awful rental group.
Looks like you wrote 2 reviews back to back. Look at the review from "Jeremiah Cernusak" for the response.

Lone Star realty management gets five wonderful stars from the Boults family, they team is terrific, and I couldn't be happier with Lonestar Realty Management! They all all took care of my family and me from start to finish, and it just was amazing! I have not had a better experience with someone than the one we had with their team! Lone Star treated us as if we were family, and we felt like family! I cannot thank them enough! Again, Thank you so much!!!
N
If I could put 0 star I would . Do NOT rent from this company . Moving into our apartment , it was a mess . Dirty and red stains in every room in the carpet and their excuse was they thought we would come pick up the keys later on in the day not first thing in the morning . But why would you all be trying to redo the carpet THE DAY tenants move in . I recently broke my lease and cleaned the apartment to the best that it could be cleaned and way better than it was when I moved in but they took my entire security deposit and want to charge me $61.60 for them so call having to do a re-inspection . They charged me $180.65 for a one pair of new blinds , batteries for the smoke detectors (2) , a new vent hood filter , and a light cover that was missing when we moved in . I confronted them in email and the charges were dropped to the “vendor making an error on the receipt” . I will be taking this company to court because all they do is cheat their residents out of their security deposits and more money .

Been a long time customer. renter for 2 years then moved (PCS) years later moved back to the area and bought a new house. After we moved away again (another PCS) we decided that renting was the best option. Now I'm SELLING... yes they do it all. As an owner; they managed my property to the best I could have possibly expected, really great. Owner friendly, on time, no messy nothing. I definitely recommend them to anyone.
Its rare to have someone use ALL the services offered. Its amazing to hear about your experience! Thank you for trusting us as a RENTER, OWNER, AND SELLER!

I had this investment property in Harker Heights for over 16 years. Karen and her team have provided me great service during the decade I was with them. I live out of state, so I really relied on their team. They were always able to select great tenants who stayed more than a year each. That speaks volumes of their service to the tenants. When I finally decided to move on from the investment, I chose Karen to represent me. With her hyperlocal expertise and style trends for the area, Karen and her team brought the property to market and secured multiple offers after the first weekend of showings. With her guidance each step of the way, my property sold over list and went smoothly! When there were challenges (like a squatter!), she and her team handled it immediately and kept me informed all the way. I asked a lot of questions, and she and the team were super patient and thorough with the information they provided me. Thank you, Karen and your folks, for taking such great care of my investment and the long awaited sale of it!!! I couldnt have done it without you all.
Thank you for your kind words! It was a pleasure to assist you in your investment needs. Let us know if their are any other investment opportunities that we can help you with.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great company. Aside from the fact that when it’s 105° outside & your air conditioning isn’t working, they still want you to put in a work order online, rather than being able to call them so they can come fix your air conditioning asap! My grandma that’s living there is 65 & hardly an Internet wizard. So not only does she have to wait for them to get the work order and decide to come fix it but she also had to wait for me to get off work to place that work order which is completely ridiculous because she could’ve called and they could’ve got all the information over the phone and sent someone out then. But other than that! They’re not too bad!
We would like to make sure you're grandma has her AC working, can you call our office so we can follow up with you? We have been getting a large amount of AC work orders and it is important to us that everyone's is up and running again. For AC problems we typically do send someone out, even if it is over the phone, so I am looking into this for you.
M
I would give 5 stars but don't cause they keep raising rent at point I couldn't afford it and all they said was the government raising the owner taxes that's why owner decide to raise rent but as soon as I moved out they lower the apartment from 650 to 550 knowing I been there since August 2018 til January 2022 and never fail payments never had issue with them or the place forcing me to move to a other place with 3 kids and one of my kid has disability and been disable for lots years and we loved the place we didn't want to move but had to due to their "stories"about government raising taxes if I was able to rate them 0 honestly I would. . .
We understand the frustration of rents rising, this is because of the current market trends. Prices are rising in many different industries and the real estate industry is one of those. It is true that property taxes have risen and raised rent is a result, amongst other factors. We do consider the effects on our tenants by having a scheduled meeting about the current market rates and what our tenants already pay. It is our goal to keep good tenants as long as possible.
N
Was looking at renting a home. Paid the application fee and was later to find out that they want you to jump through hoops like your buying a home. If you have an ESA dog you have prove the dog does something for you even after you provide the prescription. Plus you owe them your unborn child after you pay all there fees and stuff. Wouldn’t recommend you renting from this company. I find hard to believe property owners would let them manage your property specially when they are difficult in your application process. Like is everything else going to be difficult when I have a property through you like repairs, renewal, or just communication. New to the area and felt discriminated by this company. Plus I paid for two adults and only have one adult actually be processed on the application. Probably won’t see a refund for the extra $50 dollars I paid. Stay away from this place!
Mr. Rains, Yes, we do have policies in place for pets but we did work our best to accommodate your needs. We accepted both of your pets (at a pet-friendly property) and we require a deposit for that because of the cleaning and damages that typically come from animals. For the other person who would have been living with you, we do require non-married adults to have separate applications. As for children under 18 years old, there are no extra charges that we apply to tenants. Finally, we do have thorough applications and we find that they have been beneficial to our property owners.
M
Horrible experience. Every time I needed something fixed in my apartment I had to wait weeks for a handyman and even then they wouldn’t get the job done. Most often id have to spend my own money and waste my time trying to fix the issues that came with the apartment.
Hello Moe, Can you tell me more about the work order you are referring to? I want to look into your case.
J
This company to rent a house is the worst, one called to have something fixed and they went months later, the bathroom had black fungus, I notified it and they never did anything, when I left there I had to pay the full month although I was leaving at the beginning of the month, I left the house super clean and I have a video about it and the daring people want to continue charging me when the bail was never delivered! When I called to get something fixed, they had a very bad attitude, don't rent there
I am sorry but I don't have any records for you. To understand the situation better can you contact us directly so that we may help explain our policies? From the information provided I can explain the full months rent policy. We require tenants to give proper notice when they leave, this is so we may begin advertising for a new tenant. Owners lose out on money when there are vacancies and we do this to cut that time down as much as possible.
L
We used LSR as our property management company for several years and could not be happier with their hard work to keep our home rented and taken care of. We recently used them to sell our home and the process was unbelievably smooth. We live out of state and Karen took care of every tiny detail while communicating with us every step of the way. The professionalism and warm feeling of being taken care of was icing on the cake to our home having 8 offers in less than 24 hours thanks to LSR staff. We couldn’t praise this company more. Excellent all around!
Thank you Laura! It was a great pleasure to have worked with you, on both sales & property management. We are happy your home got so many offers as quickly as it did!
J
They are absolutely careless they do not care about the tenants they will make sure they charge you for everything but do nothing to make sure that the Property is Kept up I was charged 65$ for Someone trying to break into my house We have no cameras the gates have been broken since I been here They seem to think there is no need to fix the gates in the ghetto On top of that they’re blatantly careless worst company I’ve ever dealt with. FYI don’t write a review in till after you move out this review got me a notice to Vacate long Story short the Staff is rude and racist don’t do it if the staff is rude and racist so is the people who hired them of course all black people are aggressive right lol
Jermesha, you were given a non-renewal because of your aggressive behavior and profanity towards staff. When choosing a place to live it was your prerogative to choose that location. In your situation with the break-in, there were damages made to the property. Repairs are not free and because it happened while you were living there, you are responsible for it.
C
After we moved they claimed we owed thousands of dollars in damages, but did not follow through with their process as laid out in the contract. One specific situation was the carpet had a "pet smell" but I called Stanley Steamer who did the cleaning originally and they offered to do it again for free, but Lone Star ignored their offer. I also used the cleaning company they recommended, but somehow this company still cannot clean to their standards. They refuse to talk to us when we call and sent us to collections instead. All over terrible and unprofessional company who preys on military families as they wait until the family moves to make all these claims.

I recently sold my house thanks to Lone Star Realty. Karen Doerbaum and Kimberly Beers have been amazing! With my job keeping me mostly overseas or out of state, Lone Star has been managing my property for over 11 years. I trusted their professionalism and experience. Lone Star made sure my property was always in best condition and so at the time of selling, I got the best value for my house. I am extremely grateful for the great quality of service, very satisfied with the honest communication. I would absolutely recommend Lone Star Realty: nobody knows the market better!
A
These people honestly are no good they charged me 4000 $ on an apartment that I know did not cost that much to fix a few things in it they put me in a place that was a fire hazard to me and my children stated by their inspector he even witnessed the live wires hanging where the conditioner unit was located not to mention it was outdated !! And they had the nerve to charge me all this money and not even explain to me what they were charging me for !! I would not recommend them to anyone tbh!! also forgot to mention they screw you over to where it makes it hard for you to rent from anyone because that's exactly what they have done to me is try to make my life harder then what it should have to be
It is important that residents take care of the properties they have been entrusted with. Each resident knows before leasing and upon move out how to clear their units correctly. I have investigated your account and here are my findings: You leased a property in 2019 and became delinquent in rent. Upon move out you left damaged carpet, walls, and a variety of other things throughout the apartment. You are correct, the cost to fix the unit was not $4,000. It was $2,779 and it was for unpaid rent, reletting fee for breaking your lease, utility fees and the repairs for damage done to the unit. You were made aware of your charges and given every opportunity to pay what you owed to include a payment plan- you were also told when it would be turned over to credit collections and that their fee would be an additional 40%. When it went to collections, it went on your record and other companies can see what you owe, that is why it has become more difficult to rent from other companies.
D
These are some pictures from when I first got my keys. They left the apartment completely dirty, literally looked like they didn’t even clean. Just moved out 2 months ago, waited a month & a half for my security deposit. Thought for sure I was getting my full deposit back because I left that apartment probably the cleanest they’ve ever seen & they still took more than half of my security deposit. Will never rent with this company again.
N
I’ve been using Lone Star for quite a while and I love most of the staff, but I’ve had many interactions with their receptionist (Missy) and she seems to be a huge obstacle in terms of communication. Every time I communicate with her she is vague, so when I call back to continue my inquiry I’m often wrong and the other employees have to double down to give me info that the receptionist didn’t. Or that the info I was given was technically correct, but it wasn’t explained to me well enough to understand completely. She is rude and short with customers, please find a new receptionist!
G
I have had nothing short of excellent customer service from Lone Star Realty. They are a one stop shop for everything real estate related. I have no worries or stress surrounding the property Lone Star manages for me. I plan to use Lone Star for all my future properties as they have earned my trust through their hard work and the quality of product they deliver. I’d highly recommend.
H
I think some of the rentals are overpriced compared to market equivalent properties, but Lone Star does not seem to be out for your money like many other property management places. The staff at the office and everyone who has come to provide any sort of services has been prompt in communications and extremely friendly. The online services makes automatic rent payments, work orders, and retrieving documents quick and easy.

7 year update: Lone Star Realty has managed our house for almost the past seven years. Over that time, we have never had an issue with their management and upkeep of our property. They have always been quick to let us know of any maintenance issues in the house and have taken steps to get them addressed as quickly as possible. As I approach retirement, we finally decided to sell the house and end our property manager - owner relationship. Again, Lone Star provided exceptional service. They managed preparing, listing, and selling the house for us while we we're living in another state. Seriously, the process could not have been smoother. I would highly recommend using Lone Star for managing your property or buying and selling a home in the area! Original Post ~2016: Lone Star Realty has exceeded our expectations. They have always been able to rent our house quickly with good tenants. They communicate quickly when there are issues with the property, which allows us to fix them fast and maintain a good environment for the renter.
J
They are another leasing office looking to fill their pockets. If your military stay away. Your orders will cause you to break lease. It's inevitable and unavoidable and your not always able to give 30 day notices of course. If your are you'll have to travel separately with your family in order to leave them without a blemish and spend 1,000s to clear even if you kept your property in awesome condition. No peace in this. Because of this, in breaking your lease according to the military act, they will still charge you back rent even if you've paid up to date and did all they ask to clear home. Oh they came after me. I mowed and edged before we left, the weeds in the yard grew fast before they inspected property, charged us an arm and a leg to service the property after we left. They are money hungry, and will come after you with amounts of money that make no sense. All in all they sent us a bill for over 3,000 dollars that didn't include the deposit, plus for back rent, which doesn't make any sense because we paid up and kept the utilities on, left bulbs and batteries for replacements and air filters. They charged me for it all. I'm wondering who the heck did the inspection. They will take advantage of move out. Thats where they make their money, moveouts. Save yourself the hassle headache military or anyone for that matter and go somewhere else. Charged me arm and a leg for the smallest things I know don't cost to fix material or labor. The property we left in the same condition we got it if not better. Can't win. Oh that 3,000 plus didn't include the deposit. That lets you know they really try to rip you off.

Lone Star Realty has been wonderful to help find renters for our home fast. Everyone I met was helpful and polite. I especially appreciate Chariese, how she advertised our property and how she kept us updated. Thank you! Update: We had a great experience the 4 years our house was rented. Lone Star Realty took great care of everything. We decided to sell the house after the last tenants moved out and they were great about taking care of everything! Kimberly and Karen got the house ready for the market and were very helpful with the whole process! Kimberly and Karen were amazing and we closed 32 days after the tenants moved out!!! Thank you very much for taking care of our property and selling it so fast!

Lone Star Realty & Property Management managed my rental property for 11 years. I even purchased my home through them. There’s a lot that can happen in a year, and absolutely no stress on my end. They do it all! I actually know some of the people who have posted negative reviews. They are not telling the whole story. Communication goes a long way along with thorough record keeping. As a rental property owner and home owner, there are responsibilities on both sides while being proactive. Not once did I encounter bad communication or customer service. Karen and Kim know what they are doing and their track record speaks for itself. Their continued professionalism and helpful attitude makes them the best in town. Although, I can say probably in the United States! All maintenance repairs and work orders were efficiently uploaded to the owner portal with access at anytime. When tax season hit, I always had everything I needed before I had the opportunity to file taxes! In addition, Lone Star Realty sold our property in April 2019. They are honest and accurate while leading the way to a successful closing. If I were to buy and or allow anyone to manage my property, Karen and Kim will be hired again. You will not be disappointed with their services, they know what they are doing! I can say this because I have moved several times throughout the United States. I have dealt with numerous realty and property management companies. I always compared them to Lone Star Realty and Property Management and I realized how awesome they are and appreciated how they do business!

Lonestar is bad business!!! My mom has been working with these people since August. She receives disability, no evictions, no broken lease and decent credit score. The only issue my ma had was income so she had a cosigner and they got approved. The only apartment that was available had roaches really bad. My ma signed a lease because they were going to spray and take care of it. Well right before it was time to move in they terminated her lease and said the chemicals they used they couldnt let her move in. Okay cool they extended her application until another unit became available and my ma put her deposit down on an upcoming unit. She been working with Lonestar since August and now its October and now she get a call saying her application is denied because they messed up and put the wrong cosigner on her application. They said the cosigner credit score was low but that was a lie. My mom receives disability and due to the stress of everything that has been going on she been in and out the hospital and now they saying her heart is bad. These people playing with people livelihood, like stress will kill you. These rental companies act like they renting out top notch luxury homes when they really have a roach problem. People trying to keep a roof over they head. All these damn application fees, then they can't even be honest and let a person know its another person that already has an application fee on that unit so they just taking people money. Update: All my mom wanted was a home and to be happy again, and now she is the hospital fighting for her life. You never know what a person is going through and how you can have an effect on them.

T
I had a really good experience with Missy. She was polite, professional and extremely helpful . I appreciate Lone Star Realty Services !
Thank you for your review Toni!

These people are amazing and patient they understand where I’m at and they help me out, with things sometimes I don’t understand. Thank you guys for all you have been doing
Thank you for your business Andrew. We welcome any questions you may have moving forward as well.

I'm an owner that has 2 properties with Lone Star. They took an almost empty money pit into a well taken care of rental property that basically takes care of itself. I added the other one knowing they could do the same for me there, as well. They put up with me well. I can be particular and ask a lot of questions. Thanks team!

I have lived in a property for some time now off Powder River Drive, where this was a family owned property that took care of their own property for years. Since they turned over there 22 properties to loan star in one month things were going south. Loan star did not take the time to look over everyone lease individual as they treated them the same. Prior to moving out, they had on the inspection paper things that does not pertain to the property I was in, like vacuum when there is no carpet, leave fire alarm when contract doesn’t state such. If you move out in the middle of the month to pay full rent, well in my lease contract didn’t state any of this as I called them to the carpet on all these things. Today I get a final notice that I owe them 160.00 when I know I have kept the property in shape as the owners know that I did good business. This company is poorly ran, money hungry, unprofessional and truly taking owners and tenants money.. I only gave them a one star because I had too in order to write a post. I hate that the 5 Fishers allowed them to manage their property..
Ms. Isom, we understand change is hard and moving can be stressful. The Move Out and Cleaning Guidelines you were provided are given to all vacating residents in an effort to help them navigate their move outs and have a clean move out inspection. It is a general guideline where some items will apply and some will not. We have general guidelines to all -not 1800 different guidelines-one for each property. Your lease required a 30 day notice. Your notice was issued to us on the 9th of June and you were charged (and paid) until 9th of July accordingly. You were charged for damage to the garage door panel, touch up painting to that door and some minor damage that was outlined on your deposit reconciliation. The charges were the EXACT amounts charged by the individual companies that were hired to do the work. Neither the owner, or the management company, makes money on repairs. In fact it is quite the opposite, when a resident does not clear properly it cost the owner money because of the down time to ready the unit for the next resident and it cost the management company in staff time to coordinate for those repairs and to ensure the unit is ready for the next family. We wish you all the best moving forward.
M
DO NOT... I REPEAT... DO NOT select this property management company for rentals or management. Please contact me, and I'll be happy to fill you in on their unprofessionalism, over charging, lack of maintenance done to units (even prior to your move-in), etc. I've never dealt with any company this terrible. My unit was trashed, no appliances working, cigarette butts everywhere, etc. They pushed back my move-in date (a while week) days before I was set to move in. They didn't even call. They sent an email. Meanwhile, I had to pay hundreds more in hotel fees, storage, etc. They still want their money though.
J
Lone star Realty, been looking out for my property and I got no complaints so far, I feel good knowing the my house is in good hand.
Thank you Jose! It has been a pleasure working with you.
B
Warning: Long post. I've rented through this company for over two years, only had very few issues. Before renting through this company, I failed to check reviews. About 1 year into my lease, I decided to check reviews. Tons of people were saying that upon move out, their deposit was kept and they were charged with charges that were outrageous and inaccurate. With that in mind, when it was time for me to move out, I made sure the property was exactly how it was upon moving in. I even hired 2 people for professional move-out cleaning and they left the property spotless! A month later I received a bill of charges for things that were totally made up. I left my utilities on for 5 business days after moving out so they can do an inspection. They charged me to turn utilities back on after they were turned off- saying they had to "do some repairs" and needed utilities back on. They did not contact me advising me of this. There were no damages done so no major repairs to be done. There were plenty more charges on this bill that I should not have been billed for. Moral of the story, please do your research on a company before signing a lease with them! & take before and after pictures. I made that mistake and now they are threatening to turn me into collections if I don't start paying on the charges that I shouldn't even be charged with. & I thought about hiring a lawyer about this but I'm sure the cost of paying a lawyer would be more than the costs of the charges. Lesson learned.

I’ve been using them for rental property since 2002. I was active duty at the time and they handled the sale of the house to me and have been my property managers for the last 15+ years. I’ve had very few problems with them. Half these one star reviews are for repairs not getting done and I don’t think tenants understand that property managers need permission from the owners to fix things. If something is not getting fixed, it’s may be the owners not willing to pay for it or dragging their feet. All the repairs they’ve asked me to approve have been handled quickly, so I don’t think the problem is this company. We even coordinated major roof repair while I was deployed with no issues. I’ve dealt with quite a few of their employees over the years: Linda, Brenda, Tim, Jana, Brandee, Naomi, Melissa, among many others, and all have been polite and professional. I would recommend them to friends and family, but after reading some of the deposit comments, I’d probably tell them to take lots of pictures.

Managed my property for 5 years and did an outstanding job. Turned to them when I was ready to sell and they walked me through every step and gave me sound advice. Karen and Kimberly were the best realtors. Would recommend them to anyone hands down.
We appreciate your 5-star review and your trust in our Real Estate sales service Mr. Murrell!

I have been in my rental for a few months now and really enjoy it. I have had no problems with Lone Star Realty. I had my very first inspection which I was nervous about because I have never lived anywhere where they do inspections. But Mr. Daniel Sellers did a great job.
