We were very happy to work with Jim to get a mortgage for our first house purchase. As first time buyers, we didn't know much about the details of getting a loan, such as how to calculate the closing costs, the different types of loans you can get, or the extra-costs you have to account for. Jim was very knowledgeable about all of this and took the time to explain everything to us whenever we had a question, and helped us decide what was the best strategy for our situation. I woke up on a Saturday morning in November, went to see a house that had just gone on the market, and loved it. I’ve never bought a house before, and didn’t know anything about buying one. I didn’t know any realtors, inspectors, lenders, or anything. But I did have Jim’s phone number and it turned out that was the only one I needed. I called Jim, Jim called a realtor he knew, and within 24 hours (!) we had made an offer, and within a few more hours, the seller had accepted. Jim’s friend pushed it through so fast that mine was the first offer on the table. Hard to fathom how quickly the process went. Jim is easy-going and relaxed in a helter-skelter world of fast-paced mortgage lenders, and for me, someone who doesn’t like high pressure situations, he was fantastic. I didn’t know the ins and outs of the types of loans, and he gave excellent advice tailored to my financial situation. He’s been in the business long enough to know his way around, and when I was waffling on whether or not to lock on the interest rate, he strongly advised me to let him lock it. The rates went up a quarter of a percent a day later. If you’re not into getting into the fray and getting your hands dirty, leave it to Jim. At no time was he ever flustered, hurried, or out of his depth. Everything was on time. All I really did was give him a few W2’s and a big ol’ check at closing, and now I have the most beautiful house in the entire world. He made it easy.
