The whole car lot is a scam. Rented an already raggedy car for a week that was taped up/zip tied at the bottom. Obviously while i was traveling the tape/zip ties came off the bumper. These scam artists kept my deposit and charged me for damage that was already done to the car. Mind you, they sent us with a “plugged” tire that literally exploded on the highway which could’ve caused a wreck in itself. Wouldn’t recommend these frauds if they were the last car company on earth.

Bought a 06 Corolla from Andrew I pay $225 biweekly for it, doesn’t think it’s worth it. Had the car for 2 months and had to replace all 4 tires already, they make it seem like a good deal because you need a car but if you’re not in need I would go to a better dealership who cares about people and their needs not just a sell

Update to my review Daughter bought car at 6 pm then the next day had to get a jump so went and spent $140 on new battery is still having to get jumps. Tyler or Taylor (which ever was the salesman) nor the service manager will return her calls. Sounds like they might just sell lemons. I think people are.posting the good reviews just to get the free Sheetz card for a tank of gas. Daughter bought a car here today. Friendly staff. They had candy and pop corn for my grandson.

They do they're best to get you into something. They have they own bank so they can help if you have no credit. We didn't purchase anything but the customer service was great.

Worst place to rent a car from! They tried to give us a 2004 toyota camry, when we reserved 2020 suv. What kind of car rental place would try to rent a car thats 16 years old. Then when we tried to get are deposit back, they said it will be up to 10 business days since we used a card. 15 business days later half of the deposits went back on the card and still haven't received the rest of the money. Didn't rent the car and still haven't received my money. Please beware of this place.

Customer service was great when I got my truck! But 4 months later and I’ve had to replace my breaks and rotors!!!! Also just last night my truck wouldn’t start! I got a car from Hometown Auto. 1st week front axle had to be replaced. 2nd week transmission went out had to be replaced. I get a oil change now maintenance required light keeps coming on saying oil and filter need replcaing. Call Hometown actually speak to the owner. He says, "Is it still running?" Smugly. I ask did they really change the oil because the light should not be coming on. So I told him "Evidenty you sold me a piece of S...!!! NEVER EVER BUY A HOMETOWN AUTO VEHICLE!!! I started to doubt the fact they would stay true to the warranty that came with my car. It just seemed to good to be true. I bought my car from their Winston Salem location back in December. About a month ago The air wasn’t cool, their was a small oil leak and it needed a new battery. They fixed the leak, installed a new battery, my car feels like a cold winter day and they even gave me a rental at discount price while they fixed mine. They have stood by their word and for that I am thankful! I will recommend this place to my friends and family for sure. Thanks Ben, Jeremy and the others for helping and being so patient and understanding and getting me back in my car fast. You guys rock!!! The only reason I give it a 4 is because they will not work with you if you are having problems with payment. I’ve been fourtinant that I have not had to request additional time to pay my monthly payment but I feel for those who have commented and have had a hard time during the pandemic. Tiffany is probably just doing her job but she is very rude and could use some customer service schooling. If you can afford a car payment this is the place to go, they don’t sell Lemons! But if you aren’t financially stable I wouldn’t buy here bc Tiffany will make sure you’re the one selling lemons on the side of the road without a car.

Hey just bought a car from Andrew he really went out his way to get me a vehicle I am super satisfied highly suggest going to Home Auto.

Rented a 02 Honda CR-V from them for about 700$ could have bought the car for that price but needed a rental at the time ! It had zip ties on the bottom of the car that was mysteriously hidden , they told me, we couldn’t get our deposit back because the zip ties came a lose which we never knew it was zip ties on the car to start with. We trusted them and they scammed us . That was nothing we looked for ! With having the car the tire blew out while we where driving on the highway and the spare had a plug in it ! The entire car needed work the engine light came on and the car itself didn’t keep straight at all! I highly recommend that no one does business with them this is not my first altercation i also bought a Lexus LS 460 that needed work and they said they couldn’t fix it but have a entire mechanic shop connected to the business ! They gave me my money back and refuse to allow me to buy another car ! These guys are a bunch of crooks ! Do not go there and they bribe people to leave good reviews on google !

The price I was told over the phone for the Chrysler 200 was not the price then I didn’t have the vehicle a week something was going on with the axle cv joints brakes, roders, and then they tried to black out the abs sensor then I had the option to either keep the Chrysler with the abs sensor cause they couldn’t replace it then I was told by Justin I’m more particular than other customers no if I was told 9500 for a 2013 car then I get it it’s 10,500 then altogether 15000 for the car then nothing should be wrong with it just be aware then the gas mileage not correct then no car fax but when I look it up recalls on the vehicle that explains why they couldn’t get the light to turn off and then on top of that I was put in a raggedy Buick that was a rental and was ate up with fleas u would think that with the COVID they would’ve cleaned it when it was returned from the previous customer then the rear view mirror broke and Mack tried to duck tape it for me to drive like just horrible yea everything sounds good till u get in a vehicle

Hometown ruined my credit score!!! I had one payment left to pay and a car hit me and totaled my vehicle. Hometown forgot to report to the main building and the finance department put me in the records for a repo instead of a wreck.. I have to wait 7 years for the repo to clear off my record and everywhere I go to get a car I have a problem because of a repo that I never missed a payment on.. not for business at all…

This place will rob you do not go here you can get easily approved but the vehicles will not stay running this place is absolutely horrible. DO NOT BUY they will con you into giving a good review right fast after getting into it but give your vehicle a couple months and see how quickly it goes down hill.

This is the worst place ever. I didn’t even get to purchase my vehicle. The owner was so rude to me because he didn’t want my cash purchase he wanted me to finance so they could get extra money out of me and when they found out that I was paying cash for the car they wouldn’t have anything to do with me. They were rude disrespectful and laughed at me for wanting to do a cash purchase. These people are clearly scammers. If they were an honest car company they would be happy to except a cash purchase.

Well the actual buying experience was great.. but of course it was, they want you to buy a vehicle. When they received my license plate, they never informed me it had arrived so I ordered a specialty plate from the dmv which I had planned to do anyways next renewal, I thought I had to get the tag from them to return to the dmv so I call and was transferred to an older lady that was EXTREMELY rude for absolutely no reason, so that was the last call I’ve ever made to them. Fast forwarding to today, I’ve had the vehicle over a year and never missed a single payment just to receive a letter in the mail that they’re raising the price of the CPI insurance $30 more per month and they didn’t have have the spelling of my name correct. I’m 100% NOT COMFORTABLE with entering a contract to pay a certain amount and completely fulfill MY end of the contract just for them to change it as they please! I will never do business with them again.

Okay.... so this car buying experience has been the best I’ve ever experienced!!! Olen (Mack) was the salesman that assisted me he was straight forward and kept his word assured me that it would be hassle free and it WAS!!! When I first expressed my desire to keep my payments in a certain range he gave me the opportunity to test drive another vehicle that would best suit me. That really impressed me and sealed the deal. Bottom line... #1 used car and auto place within 50 miles!!!

Very good experience. Auto was ready for me when I arrived. Brought back a few days later for a quick repair and Justin handled everything and had me on my way very quickly. After having a horrible experience with a previous company and only having a car for a week, I arrived at Hometown Auto literally 6 minutes before closing. Now, I definitely knew how frustrating it can be to have someone arrive just before closing but my sales rep, Mack, could see my desperation and at no point did he make me feel bad about showing up last minute. Checked these guys out when looking for our last car. Didnt end up purchasing from here but the staff were super helpful with finding us cars they had available for sale that were relevant to our needs. We were able to test drive as many as we wanted. If you have credit issues this may be. Good place for you but otherwise you will likely pay twice the amount of what the vehicle is worth. Good experience with these guys though. Awesome customer service and great to work with. I just got my 2nd car from them and had the same experience that I got a year and a half ago. Mark was my salesman this time as well as last time. He was very sweet and very kind, as well as helpful with any questions that I asked and knew the answers to them as well. I have worked in the customer service for over 12 years and let me tell you, they are very nice and have been from day one since I bought my first car from them. Hopefully i wont need another car, as I LOVE the one I just bought, but should I have to get another one, I will return to them and I will refer anyone that I know looking for a car to them as well.
