I recently had to deal with Wendy Wayas. She is a senior mortgage broker. She left a bad review because I was unable to return her text message for a flooring install. I would say she must be a generally angry person and not nice at all. I tried to explain to her I was sick with Covid but she insisted that if I read her text, I had to respond. Not a nice person! She must be a Karen.

I had a great experience working with First Colony Mortgage. They were very patient with me as I searched for a home and went back and forth as to whether to have my wife on the loan or not. They made the process easy and comfortable.

First Colony passed my loan onto PHH Mortgage, and it has been a living hell dealing with them. Do I blame First Colony? Yes. My taxes got all messed with the escrow and dealing with PHH mortgage is a nightmare. I'm extremely disappointed with this process and your willingness to have my loan be serviced by such an awful company. This reflects very poorly on First Colony.

The whole team at First Colony was so knowledgeable and helped us every step of the way towards purchasing our very first home. We couldn't be happier with the whole experience and would highly recommend them to anyone who wants to purchase a home. They answered all of our questions and communicated with us throughout the whole process.

Debbie was amazing to work with! I looked at other mortgage companies and could never get straight answers from then and it was always hard to get my lender on the phone. With Debbie, she always answered my calls and was always so willing to answer my questions! They send you videos along the way to help explain the process which was fun! They are so kind and helpful here! They took as long as needed, even a bit after hours to make sure my questions were answered, even gave me their personal cell phone number so I could ask more questions after hours when I could talk with my husband about it. They were do willing to find exactly the right fit for us. They printed out 5-6 different mortgage scenarios for our specific circumstances and as soon as we had chosen a plan, locked in our interest rate with no obligation.

This was our first home loan, and it went quite well. Our broker was very responsive and helpful via email. Although applying for a loan is always a pain, he did as much as possible to make it painless. My only feedback would be that I wish they did more to explain everything on a more basic level for us first timers. But they were still efficient, helpful, and got us a terrific interest rate. Definitely recommend.

I was referred to Scott Crandall at First Colony Mortgage through my Realtor, Jason Turner. We had talked to the other larger companies to get our loan, but they seemed to be either too eager, or too hands off. I'm a gal that needs to understand every line of policies and Scott was amazing to work with. As first time home buyers that really didn't know much going into this as far as the process, he walked us through the process extremely well and for the most part took care of all of the heavy lifting. I had millions of questions and he was so patient and thorough, always just wanting to make sure I understood the process, what I was signing and next steps. When it came to closing day, our house finishing date was pushed to a couple days before Christmas and we were worried about our loan rate expiring; but he took care of everything and ensured we would have the same rate we agreed to at the start. By the time closing day arrived, we had worked ahead to get everything done and be able to fund the house, with keys in our hand same day as it was right before Christmas and he made it happen, even hand delivering our final paperwork to the funding department to ensure it got funded that day. The customer service and communication throughout was more than I ever imagined. A house purchase is a huge investment, and it was great to work with someone that had our best interest in mind from start to finish! HIGHLY recommend working with them; I know First Colony/Scott are the only folks I would work with moving forward!

John at colony first was great to work with! He sent us an app we were able to use while we were looking at houses to get an estimate of the monthly payment, insurance, etc. it worked great! He was also very educated and was patient as we asked our thousands of questions about buying a home. They were also very fast in the process and kept us informed!

First colony is the best! In the past I have hated to do refinances or anything of that sort they made it so easy and simple it was a great experience! I thoroughly enjoyed working with Jackson and Reagan they are awesome and know their stuff and everyone in the office was friendly and helpful! First Colony was very helpful in buying a home. We were upgrading to a larger home and used a VA loan. Scott and Jessica were extremely helpful in getting all the required documents and ensuring the loan we got was the best option for us. The people are generally nice. Cory, Nick and Lindsey. During my first visit to the Orem office in Utah, i had to wait for about 20 minutes until i was seen. I was prompt and was there at the scheduled time. However, Cory who i was meeting with was with another client and had to finish his meeting. Again, i was there on time. I had a great chat with Cory. During the process of getting the loan, i had the worst experience. It was super stressful to go back and forth trying to negotiate a fair market price for my new loan. When i first saw the proposed loan docs i knew the the fees were very high. I was able to receive numerous other loan quotes and First Colony was very hard to negotiate a fair price for my loan. Finally, until the very end day for closing, First Colony was able to drop their fees down and be competitive with the other lenders. Then i decided to move forward with them. Just imagine trying to receive clarification on what the various fees were and compare it to other quotes. I am not sure that I would recommend them to someone, maybe if you have the agelity and patience to negotiate a fair market price then yes. However, It was a good learning experience but not sure i have the time to do it again.

First Colony was very impressive during my entire experience with them. I needed a very quick turn-around time to get the loan for my condo, and they made it happen in just two weeks, about half of the time that anyone else even said they could. This was also my first time working with a mortgage company, and they did a great job of educating me, walking me through things, and making sure I was ready and satisfied with everything. Everyone I worked with was pleasant and sincere as well. Would definitely recommend to others.

These guys were excellent to work with. They were the preferred lender with the builder that we chose, so we went in with a more of a scrutinizing attitude. But we loved the easy and straightforward experience we got from them. Communication was excellent and they were happy to meet with us and answer additional questions as needed. We also loved their online portal that we could easily upload documents and see statuses of the application. In the end, First Colony also covered the cost of a rate lock when the builder failed to close on time. Blake Bench and his assistant Erin were great from beginning to end.

A friend recommended First Colony when we built our home a couple of years ago so we gave them a try and ended up working with Greg - he was absolutely fantastic to work with. We have now closed two loans with Greg Pearson at First Colony Mortgage and that in and of itself should tell you something! How often do you think to go back to the loan officer you worked with the previous time? Probably rarely or never, most of them churn and burn, at least that was our experience. If you are considering First Colony I would strongly encourage you to ask for Greg. I've closed several loans in my lifetime and Greg is the first and only to get my repeat business. He follows through when he says he will, he is 100% professional, knowledgeable, thorough, honest and best of all, he will continue to treat you like a customer after the loan is closed. That is something that is hard to find these days. 100% recommended.

Great service! Consider yourself blessed if you get to work with Lane. He helped refinance a VA loan for us, through no prompting on our end. He just noticed the rates were low, and asked if we wanted to do it (even though he made no money off of that refinance). I'm sure you'll have a great experience if you choose First Colony.
