Desert Financial Credit Union Reviews
I
I went in here to get a loan for my wife and I for a vehicle and the female loan officer wouldn't even let us fill out an application, she said there's no point because it's going to be denied even though we had excellent credit and 5 years of taxes. She told us that they don't give loans to people who are business owners. I find that hard to believe! I definitely feel like we were discriminated against for being an ex addict. It's sad that even after you change your life people still judge you four things that didn't affect them whatsoever please go elsewhere.
Hi Ian! Thank you for taking the time to chat with us about this situation! We are so glad we were able to assist you.

Desert Financial is a great bank with excellent employees! I appreciate all that they do. Ariel from the branch inside Wal-Mart on 59th Ave and Bell Rd is amazing! She answered all of my questions and addressed all of my concerns... AND MORE! Thank you Desert Financial for all that you do! I highly recommend this bank for all of your financial needs. 🥰
Thank you very much, Jennifer! We are glad to have you as a member.

DO NOT apply for loans at these store locations. I would recommend going to a main branch. It took nearly 2 months for Desert Schools to pay off my lease and created extra efforts and problems for me. I went in 3.5 weeks before my lease maturation and they confirmed we had plenty of time to process a loan to purchase the car. Everyone was pleasant, but there were immediate issues with the fax machine, banker on PTO, not returning calls and no one to escalate to? I was not allowed to work with another location or a main branch directly and had to travel to this location multiple times. The summation of issues at Desert Schools necessitated a 10 day extension on my lease to secure additional time required by the Credit Union. We insisted on a conference call between Desert Schools and my leasing company while being told that the check was mailed, but learned from the lease company it was not received. In this call it was confirmed that Desert Schools did indeed mail a check, but to the wrong address, not the address spelled out on the leasing company paperwork for pay off and title release. How does that happen? Now we are well beyond the 10 day grace and in some sort of black hole and worried about impacts to my credit and good standing with the leasing company. Next challenge, the payoff is different because so much time has gone by. No problem, we’ll just change the principal of the loan to include those additional funds required for pay off. What? More time goes by… Evidently, there was a 15 day waiting period before they could issue another check, even though the first check was their direct error. Well, the leasing company did eventually receive a check after this near 2 month hassle. During this time I had to pay hundreds of dollars to keep my lease in good faith while Desert Schools worked out their problems. Not even a thank you or sorry, let alone compensation to me in return for expenses I had to pay due to their internal processing problems at origination through processing and funding. Now I am worried what the experience will be like for servicing my account. This is not our first car loan and our credit is very good. :) We researched interest rates, reviews and even spoke to a loan officer at the main branch to answer questions before selecting Desert Schools. Maybe your experience will be more professional and less cumbersome than mine. Again, consider using a main branch for anything other than Teller-based transactions.

I went in on. Friday morning to sing my auto refi, next day they call me that the branch did not upload the documents and didn’t even made notes on my account! Now i have to wait until Tuesday! Whats the point of taking the time to go to the branch !

Came here to refinance my truck and I have to say it was the smoothest process. The employees and the manager were all incredibly kind and helpful. Within a week I got everything finished and I'm very happy with how low my interest rate is.
Thank you for your feedback! Happy to hear that the service was excellent and our rates were fair.

I did try to give his bank a chance as my SO uses it and has used it for over 10 years. That’s the best thing I can say about them. I created my account and within the first month I had problems. They hold my first check 10 days without telling me they are going to hold it. My check was not bad and the fund came through after the 10 business days. Ok I get it mistakes happen. I had late fees because of this on the bills I needed to pay. I let it go - one time isn’t terrible, right? But the next time this floors me. They tell me I cannot overdraft on the account, that I will be denied. So I use my card as normal, pay my rent and get food. They charge me the overdraft fees associated with it, charging me in total 4 overdraft fees (35$ each) that I never wanted to have or used(meaning being able to overdraft in the first place). I have other accounts for a reason. I tried to explain to them I was told I wasn’t able to overdraft and instead of understanding where I’m coming from, they go over my charges time and time again, like that changes the 140$. I could understand one charge, 4 is rediculous and arguing with me is actually even more above that. Instead of trying to work with me, they stated they would waive the 2 charges that were associated with .25 cent charges on the account. Thank you for waiving the 70$ for the 50 cents I went over. But sadly - that’s not keeping me. I shouldnt have been told I wouldn’t be able to overdraft. I never wanted to overdraft, and now I’m stuck with 70$ in NSF fees because I wasn’t told correctly. Please if you actually read reviews - please treat people with respect and if they can overdraft, tell them. Don’t misinform them - you’re their credit union they trust you with their money. And sadly after these two times of being misinformed, I no longer trust you with my money.

Hello Nikki, thank you for your feedback! We sincerely apologize for the delay in response - this only recently became visible to our team as Google has started lifting restrictions on new reviews. We love to hear that you consistently receive professional and efficient service at this branch.
