These photos and review is relevant to the address of 6007 W beach drive, oak island, North Carolina. (“King Fisher”) Here is a picture of a giant American cockroach which this company tried to convince my husband was a “water bug”. We have also seen a roach in its post larval state, which are very different than that of a water bug nymph. Non mistakable. None the less, we were brushed to the side and told it was no big deal. Upon arrival, apart from our tiny disgusting room mates, is the AC which they request you keep at 75 degrees lest it “freeze up” if you go any lower…. (It freezes either way, just so you know) My husband has worked in HVAC for half his life, and *that* is by itself cheap and unacceptable. I’m going to assume the next pictures you see of a MOLDY and DUCT TAPED AC tube, that might just be the root of the problem. You can smell the mildew coming off of it. Again, nothing is done, nothing is offered. The next thing being loose railing boards on each side of the back deck, again with a toddler running around. This was the very first thing I noticed and promptly blocked it with tables and chairs so she wouldn’t fall off. Also upon arrival there was trash (several water bottles, and dead roaches) behind the bed on the first bedroom on the right past the kitchen. My mischievous and adventurous toddler ALSO found a dead crab under a dresser two days into vacation . Clearly there longer than we had been. Wretchedly Stinky in mid decomp. We came and spent well over $1200 to relax in a beach front house and take our toddler somewhere fun, instead we’re having to be careful inside our own vacation home where she’s going and what she’s touching. Changed rooms so she wouldn’t be close to molding flooring and breathing it in. By far the worst housing experience I’ve ever had. There are no excuses when I paid just about the same amount of money as my grandmother who rented a house two minutes down the street and got something brand new clean and pristine, no bugs in sight. (As it should be..) How this home has passed any sort of inspections is beyond me. I am beyond upset.

This is our second year with Coastal Vacation Resorts and we couldn't be happier with the customer service, the homes available for rent, and of course the location. Heather was an absolute blessing at the time I made this year's booking. My mother had an injury, was moved to hospice and in transition to leave this world. The last thing on my mind was our summer vacation. Heather not only helped to make sure our booking was secured but went out of her way to send encouraging emails after my mother's passing. Its the little things. Its the people who go out of their way for you that do not even know you. Her random act of kindness meant so much to me and my family. But that is not the reason we will continue doing business with Coastal Vacations, it is a perk of Coastal Vacations. They have good people working for them that do care about their clients and it shows! Both homes we have stayed in have been wonderful as I'm sure our next home will be this June. We look forward to doing more business with them in the future.

My wife and I stayed at Angelfish during the week of October 12. The house itself was pleasant, well-laid out and had updated appliances and furnishings. Our experience with Coastal Vacation Resorts was not positive. The main problem was that the drainpipe was missing on the sink in the master bathroom and water just drained out onto the bathroom floor. Other problems were that the mattress cover in the master bedroom had insects and the house was not well-cleaned. On our first day, there were multiple back-and-forth phone calls and E-mail messages with Coastal, and three visits by contractors, two by a plumber and one by a maid. The plumber was not able to fix the sink in his two visits. The maid replaced the mattress cover and cleaned the master bathroom floor. After she left, I found it necessary to clean the floor in the second bathroom and vacuum the entire house. The phone calls and E-mails were a nuisance, and not only were the contractor visits intrusive and ineffective, they were a threat to our health. My wife and I are both over 65 and are at high risk for Covid-19. We paid full price for this rental property but did not receive full value. We expected peace, quiet and isolation, but on our first day, we got nothing but stress and aggravation due to a house whose plumbing was not up to code and was not adequately cleaned. To avoid further intrusions, I told Coastal not to send the plumber again and that we would use the sink in the second bathroom for the remainder of our stay. I requested that Coastal refund the rent we paid for our first day but they refused to respond to my several E-mails. We think the owners of this property would be better served by a different management agency.

First time getting a rental property from them & it was great. Smooth check in and everything we could possibly need was in the home. The house was beautiful.

The check in process was awful! We were told check in was at 3. When we arrived we were told someone had to Inspect the property before we could check. I’m not sure what they inspected because the property was not ready for guests. When we arrived at “We Did It” It was not accurately represented in the pictures. There was clearly some repair work happening to the exterior. Several light fixtures were missing and both the front and back porches had active wasp nests. The furniture inside and floors were stained. We spent the first 45 minutes of our stay vacuuming. There were several safety concerns on the back deck with the railing broken in several places. There were dead bugs left smashed on the walls. The front porch furniture was beyond use. This property has great potential but is clearly not taken care of. We have reached out to the company twice now with our concerns and have not heard back. We will not use this company again.

great stay! House was clean, no problems. Only 2 negative things--house needs another couch. When a house sleeps 12, there should be seating for 12. Dune replenishment took away direct access to beach but I understand why. Otherwise, great house and great vacation!

Our beach house is a dream we have had for many years. In 2016, it finally became reality. We decided to rent it to guests for a few years until it is time for us to retire to it permanently. With that decision came lots of responsibility, and we needed some guidance. That is where Coastal Vacation Resorts, OKI came in. They are the best management company we could have asked for. They walked us through the rental process, guided us through some renovations on the house, and continue to be responsive whether we have a question or problem with the house or just need an update on hurricane conditions. They have become our friends over the years, and I cannot imagine partnering with any other company for our house. The success of our house, Sandy Cheeks, is definitely due to our partnership with the people at Coastal Vacation Resorts.

The reservationist, Heather Lee was absolutely amazing. She was so friendly upon check-in and made sure we had everything we needed to get settled in. She was kind and knowledgeable. I also had a few issues with the rental, but did not want to be a burden and took care of it while we were there. I called her today because I forgot to leave the report card. She was so helpful and then proceeded to tell me any time we had an issue to make sure we called her and that we were not burden. She listens thourghly about the concerns and I can not express enough how amazing she is. This is my 2nd year renting through them and I would recommend Coastal Vacations to anyone looking to book their beach vacation. Exceptional service.

Stayed at Tiger Pause which is managed by Coastal. July 9-16, 2022. Eould give 2.5 stars if i could. When searching the web, only one other review of this property is online. Which is a great summary of the property and its shortcomings. Search for yourself. Pictures on the website are accurate but do not show the details. Furnishings and flooring are in need of major updating. Screens missing or broken from windows. Screen door did not work properly. Square footage was great. No water hose was available to rinse beach items off. Spicket was there but had no water to it. Outdoor show worked ok. Porch railing had several pickets loose or missing. The AC worked well. As noted in the other online review, the house did shake/sway considerably when people walked around. You can feel it when sitting or lying in the bed. Even when the under 10 yr Olds would walk around you could feel it. Could use some x bracing to help this. The location was great. Good acces to the beach. The refrigerator door can only open 45 degrees as it would hit the kitchen island. Made it difficult getting items in and out of the fridge. Some of the outlets in the house did not work. Also under the house in the hang out area there were exposed cut electrical wires, safety concern. The house is definitely a managed property. Would not rent this property again. Hope this helps someone out in the future. Management company was ok. But when emailed about the other not so good review, no response was provided.

My family stayed at the Terrapin Station and will 100% be back. Everything from check-in to our departure was smooth and the house was clean. We are from NY and wanted to get away and relax because the last year has been crazy due to the pandemic. This was one of the first vacations I actually got that relaxation. The house was clean, great location and my family had a blast on the beach.

I booked a house rental with Coastal Vacation Resort on January 15, 2021. I was happy with my rental and excited to take a family trip down to Oak Island. My stay was for June 19-26 2021. On June 1, 2021 at 2:44pm I received a call, saying my rental will not be available and they didn't have any other options available for me. On top of that they couldn't even give me my refund until 7-10 business days. I was left high and dry and they couldn't even get me my money back instantly. I would have loved a little bit more of a heads up but no wait until the last minute and pull out. If I would have waited that long to say I wasn't coming I would have had to pay a cancelation fee. I will never use this rental company ever again, poor management, bad communication and cant deliver.

We did look at your reservation and we see that we notified you the moment the owner notified us that unfortunately the property wasn't going to be ready. The owner did have every intention on having it ready but due to unforeseeable instances it was not. We do apologize also that it may take a few days for the refund to go back on your card and that's entirely up to your card company on when that credit goes through. That is something that is out of our control.

Spent 900 dollars for 2 nights in a beach front house. Where to start. Drove 10 hours to find my keys didn’t work. Waited two hours for new keys to be brought to me. Opened the door to find an AC that didn’t work, stains all over the floor, and live roaches in the cabinets. Luckily, I had somewhere else to stay. After a roach found its way into my pizza box, I noped out of there. I messaged them to say I wouldn’t be staying my second day and would like half my money back. They agreed and then refunded me 130 of my 900 dollars. I thought agreeing to half would keep me from having to fight but no. On VRBO this new property has a 1 star rating. It has no business being rented. They don’t care after they have your money. The people up front act all nice and southern to shield from management who views their job as pushing their margins without concern for the people who rent their property. I spent almost a grand on an uninhabitable place and can’t even get my money back. Getting a refund doesn’t make up for the inconvenience they caused me and I can’t even get that. Avoid this trash

We rented a fishing cabin here because of what as advertised in the photos for a birthday weekend in Oak Island, NC When we arrived we discovered there was no fishing pier(which was pictured in he add).This was the most important reason we choose this home. The cabin was in terrible shape. None of the blinds on the windows worked forcing us to have some stuck up while others stuck down. The add stated the cabin had new blinds and updated living room furnishings, this was a complete lie. The stove in the home had 1 burner that worked which made the groceries we purchased for the weekend useless. We abandoned our plans to cook what we caught from the ocean. We couldn't enjoy the inlet because of lack of the dock. We were told there was extended cable and we found out that was not the truth. This place made no effort to fix these issues or offer any solutions. This place we stayed in which was a few steps above a dump. It looked like the owners uses it for a storage place. The only truths about this place was that it was 1 block from the beach. This was a cooler weekend and we found out that the heat in this home would only work on emergency mode. We were told the owner of the cabin refused to offer and monetary refund for this. If this company will allow property owners to make false claims in an add and be unwilling to correct this then this is a company clearly has no idea of the condition of the properties they rent. Buyer beware.

We stayed at Katydids recently and love it! It is modern and updated, yet has kept its cottage charm. The house was on the beach which was a delightful change from other houses we have rented. There were views of the ocean from most every room in the house. We opted to cook every night and found the kitchen superbly equipped for our needs. Would absolutely stay here again if we were looking for an Oak Island property. Highly recommend.

I reserved the Flip Flop property, the mattresses were dirty, it smelled bad, the linens were outside on the ground with bugs crawling on them, it was very hot inside and thermostat had to be left on 75 in order to prevent unit from freezing up per house instructions, both doors do not close properly, cell phone service is poor in this area, our dogs were hit with no escape from the heat, roaches climbing the walls, I have contacted them several times by email with pictures and unsafe living conditions and requested a call back with no response. I requested a refund!
