Clackamas Federal Credit Union Administrative Office Reviews

Amazing experience with this financial institution I have been a member of a few different banking companies and felt treated like a name and number or a file on a desk top. Not the case at Clackamas every encounter with someone there on online/phone has made ever effort to make the experience professional, kind, and informative. Helped me refinance my 2021 Roadglide in about 3 days lower rate and payment with very minimal effort on my part the whole experience was top notch.
Hi Daniel! We're so glad to hear that you've enjoyed your experience at Clackamas. We are pleased to hear that your experience has been great in such a wide variety of ways. Thank you so much for the five-star review and for being a member!

The only reason I am giving 2 stars and not 1 is because the banker we worked with was friendly and helpful. We were looking to refinance a car and came across Clackamas. We reached out and told them the situation- which I admit, isnt ideal for refinancing or loan requesting. However, we were asking for literally 12% of our yearly income in a refinance and they assured us that they are a smaller bank and work with the people, not the just numbers. We had proof of income, proof of previous payments made for 2 cars, not just the 1 we were refinancing, and also had proof of payments made to other creditors they asked about. They dangled us on the idea that they would actually give us more than what we were requesting for the refinance, so that we could pay down a debt and help raise our credit. We asked if this was necessary and were told no, but that it would look better to the underwriters. So we said ok. Weeks went by and they still could not make a decision. We were on a time frame since the car we were trying to refinance was in a deceased's name and the finance company was getting impatient and was threatening to reposes the car. In the end, we had to purchase a new car and were unable to keep the car we had almost paid off. To some this may not seem like a big deal, but we feel like Clackamas dangled the possible and more than likely chance of getting a loan from them if we "showed the underwriters the income and payments" and instated had to make a haste decision to purchase a new car with a higher interest rate and purchase price than the $6k we were trying to finance. They then suggested that we wait a few months and then ask them to refinance again. No thank you. I appreciated the banker's willingness to help, but I think it was incredibly inconsiderate for the underwriters to keep asking for things, which we provided, only to come back and say no.

They took time to set my 20 something daughter up with new accounts to begin building her zero credit - not bad credit, but no credit. They've offered advice and she's doing great with it. We think they are more than willing to explain and teach, not just sell products.

If you prefer a credit union to a bank, this is the place to be. They are the best all-round CU and perfect for families introducing their kids to banking. Hospitable, smooth, and simple. In winter they have a fire running to warm yourself while waiting.

Update: I have emailed her back, it seems like nothing will be done about this situation so do not portray that you’re trying to resolve the issue when we both know it’s not true. Thank you. Not a good experience. Had someone close to me submit an application for a loan and rob la raus was the one helping us. Due to his lack in knowledge he ran my credit as a co-buyer and then tells us we need someone who is related to be a co-buyer. As someone who is working hard on fixing/building my credit this should of been shared before they ran the application. It’s very obvious to see that the training that’s done is not done properly or even done at all. And even after all of that, he did NOT even tell me what was going on or what the situation was. Very unprofessional and I do not recommend this place.
Hi Josephine, Our branch manager, Lauren, has reached out to you for more information and to help resolve this situation. Please feel free to return her calls if you would like to discuss this further. Lauren can be reached at (503) 656-0671 ext. 6643.

I have been with Clackamas Federal for over 4 years and I had our other financial institution send a BANK issued check to Clackamas Federal - like I have done probably over 30 times before- and usually they do the 2 day hold on the checks, on this check they put a week and 3 day hold!!! That’s crazy. I understand putting a longer hold on a personal check maybe but this is the equivalent of a Cashiers Check and they thought it was ok to put a hold this long. During a time when people are struggling to pay bills and the fact that this was a check from our bank, from our account- so they wouldn’t have issued the check if the money wasn’t there- this is unacceptable and I messaged Clackamas about it and their attitude was “deal with it” essentially so I did and transferred all our money somewhere else. I hope that week and 3 day hold was worth the money we had in our accounts with Clackamas.

I got a boat loan through Clackamas back in October. I worked with Michelle who was great and easy to work with. I even brought her a gift card for how easy she made the process. Since it was so late in the boating season I immediately had to put the boat in storage. A couple weeks later I received an email stating that I needed to provide proof of insurance. I had no idea this was a requirement or I would have collected the vin and hin # before I put the boat in storage. I reached out to Michelle to see how urgent this was and never heard back. I contacted my insurance, went to the credit union to get the information I needed to get insurance. A few weeks later I was called and told I needed to provide a proof on vin inspection or the boat would be repossessed. I asked why this was the first time I was hearing about this if it were so important. The answer I got was “we figured you would have the loan paid off by now.” (I had only been paying on the loan for a couple of months at this point) I got the the vin inspection the very next afternoon which was not easy as I had to pull my boat out of storage to accomplish this. About a month later I was called and told that because of the lapse of insurance from October (it’s now March) I owe $553. I went in to ask a teller about this and I was told “We don’t offer boat loans.” At this point I began reaching out to Michelle again, no reply. No one ever told me that insurance was required from day one to get a boat loan and that it was Michells fault for letting the loan clear without proof of insurance. At this point I reached out to the manager of the branch after learning that Michele wasn’t getting back to me because she no longer works there. The manager Victor listened to my sub par experience and assured me that he would look into it and come up with a solution that works for both of us. In the meantime I collected money to pay off my loan and be done with this nightmare. I brought in me debit card to pay the loan and what do you know, the chip reader wouldn’t work. They told me to go to the bank for a cashiers check. I got the check, paid off my loan, and closed my account. I have called Victor the manager 3 times and am yet to hear back from him. This has by far been the worst customer experience I have ever heard of from a bank. I wish I could leave 0 stars. No one has any clue what they are doing at Clackamas Federal Credit Union. Do not do business with them unless you want many unwanted surprises along the way.

I recently got an auto loan from them and my experience was wonderful. I worked with Sara and she was great. She was always quick to respond and always answered any questions that I had. I highly recommend!

Horrible customer service, alot of new agents. They are not set up where you can call a number on credit cards to easily check balances or take payments by debit or credit. If they screw up and cause you an issue they contact you late in the game freeze your credit cards with them and act like the gastapo despite having never missed a payment on anything before. I am looking elsewhere. They make me uncomfortable handling financial matters.
Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. We can see we missed the mark in meeting your expectations.
