Israel came out to fix my garbage disposal. He was courteous, polite, professional and went above and beyond. I told him with his customer service skills he'd be very successful going into business on his own. His response was that he is extremely happy working for Bluestone Hockley because it is such a good company. He said they really take good care of their employees and customers. Needless to say I was very impressed.

I love at the garden location in Beaverton and I honestly have never lived in a place where the maintenance is so active and on top of tenant repairs and request and needs. They don't micro manage but ensure the properties are cared for and clean. Israel Horton was our tech this time and he was great with communication and kindness and mindful of me working from home when doing his work. Grateful for this management company and making the choice to choose this apartment.

The best thing about Barrington Square Apartments (under Bluestone and Hockley) is having an amazing apartment manager who lives on site. Sandi has been amazingly accommodating, quick to find a solution and always there for you. From pluming to appliance, any issue we've had over the years of living here she has been quick to respond and get someone to fix the issue. She takes care of us and we are forever thankful.

I’ve put in (what feels like) 10 service requests over the year I’ve lived here, and the Bluestone Hockley team has been quick to respond every time. Angela, in residential, has been my person every time, and she always emails, calls, and gets it done. Professionally, kindly, it’s clear that she cares. I’ve heard stories of other resident management teams that do nothing, or make things difficult for tenants, but that has not been my experience. Thank you for taking care of me and my home! I've been renting from this company for almost three years. These people are utterly incapable of communicating with each other, even within the same office. Their email communications are often unprofessional and they even manage to fail to send important messages to every tenant. They're not bad people, but they often don't really know what they're doing. Most recently, they've been telling us that we have to be enrolled in a new system to make online rent payments for May but it is now April 28th and this new system apparently won't go live until May 1st, despite having already received several messages telling me how important it is to get enrolled on the new system. The 1st falls on a weekend this year and I have no confidence that it will go live on time.
Your concerns were noted but as you may have noticed, we were live with our new website bright and early on the 1st of May. Please contact us if you have concerns or need assistance setting up your portal.

Had a great experience with Amy, Jill, and Daniela. We had a super short period of time to get everything done before the desired move in date and they were so responsive and efficient! They all worked really hard to get us in on the date we requested and our move was super smooth because of it. Since we've moved in, they've continued to be responsive and helpful. Great service!!

They'll take your application fees and then never contact you on whether you were approved or even screened at all. Calling the number will get someone who will refer you to a leasing office which will ignore you. Looking at reviews, seems like they're nice to work with so it's pretty surprising honestly.

This company is ridiculous. Toured an apartment end of April. Paid 37 dollars for an application that night, and called the next day. Was told that i was the only person who put in an application and that they would contact me in a few days after my background/references went through. I called them back mid week the following week. Nobody answered. I left a voicemail, but received nothing back. From 4/27 up until now I have only been able to reach them once. They charged me 37 dollars for an application fee, yet never did a background or credit check on me, nor did they call my references. When I looked at the place on 4/26 I was told it was available then, but obviously they have been moving incredibly slow. Fast forward to about one week ago (about three weeks after my app was submitted) and after 5 calls/voicemails, I finally am able to reach someone by pressing the option that I was a tenant with a maintenance issue. I talked with a lady who tells me that there were SEVERAL applications ahead of me for that unit, and that it has been approved for another person for weeks. Either they don’t have their act together, or they weren't up front with me about being the only applicant. On top of that, about 99% of their “available now” units on their website (which they STILL let you view in person through ShowMojo) are actually NOT available at all. I texted back and forth with them asking about all the “available now” units on their website, and every single unit (except for ONE, which was a total dump) was already APPROVED and had a lease signed. Since late April up until today, my conversation consists of me texting one of their agents asking if this or that apartment has any applications on it or not, then hearing back a few days later saying "yes". Then i'll ask "Well, what is available that you can use my application towards?" - and then I get absolutely radio silence, and they never answer their phones. This has been going on for 1.5 months, and they've had my money the whole time. It seems like they just want people to view the place and apply as a backup option for them, and are totally happy collecting a $37 dollar fee from you knowing very well that its already taken. I understand that the market is crazy right now, and that many units will have competition, but at the same time, it's a complete waste of a prospective tenants time to make them jump through so many hoops trying to do their job in finding out what's actually available and worth looking at. I’m working with them to get a refund now, but have not received it as of today. I cannot even imagine how utterly terrible this property management company is once they have started receiving money from you monthly if this is how they treat a potential tenant. I felt like I was literally begging them to talk to me. Absolutely ridiculous. No clue why they have good reviews, it was seriously the most unprofessional rental company i’ve ever tried to deal with.

Very good place to live I know bluestone for 10y but now the communication between them and talent is zero they don't answer the phone ,they don't replay to you voicemail. Sad to see how bluestone costumers service going down.the only answer you will get from them is we are busy or sorry .

Connor Stephenson did an outstanding job getting a stormwater facility back into compliance for us. I put the kind of deadline out there that MOST would totally forget about. 6 months later I checked in expecting the typical “oops-not done yet” reply. But not the case. Conner had the project done and the pictures to back it up. Great Job Conner Stephenson. Hoping we get to work together on something like that again. (Four stars because I never give five)

My partner and I have been renting a property managed by Bluestone & Hockley for nearly a year now. Our property manager, Lori, is on top of everything and has been phenomenal to work with the entire time. She is responsive and conscientious. Absolutely top notch. Any maintenance we have needed has been done promptly and without any trouble. Most recently Heron, who coordinated a fridge replacement was great to work with. All technicians and staff we have dealt with are professional and courteous. We love our rental property and are happy that we have such a supportive staff at Bluestone & Hockley for any issues that we need help with. Thanks for a great year of rental!

My husband and I have lived here for two years. We love living at the end of the quiet street in and have felt right at home since we moved in. The building is old school but VERY well maintained and accompanied by the Kellogg Creek natural area and beautiful, mature landscaping. The walkability is really wonderful with quick access to food, downtown, the river, and MAX. Susan and Robert go above and beyond to make sure their tenants are cared for and the complex is well kept up. Their customer service and communication is amazing! At the end of this lease we needed some changes in our living space. Susan listened the what we needed and promptly found us the perfect apartment right next door. It will be our easiest move ever. I am so grateful we found Lake Village, and I am delighted that we get to stay in the same area with the same exemplary management. Thanks Susan and Robert!

THE BEST IN PORTLAND, SERIOUSLY. I moved out of the state, and was honestly sad to have to leave my home. If I stayed in the area I would have renewed. Bluestone and Hockley were the best residential management company I have ever encountered. They are professional, courteous, and seem to actually care about the health and happiness of their tenants. They quickly responded to any requests or inquiries we had. They were sad to see us go, but they wished us the best and helped us along the way. If I return to Portland I will be seeking their properties first. All around a great experience. My move-in experience has been great and I'm loving my new home so far! Moving in during the pandemic was done mostly online with Daniela, who always answered my questions fast and cheerfully. And then I met with Tiffany to get my keys, and she was gracious and kind also. I definitely feel like I'm getting a good value with my 2 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment right on the max line. I look forward to being "Home" here!

Our maintenance provider Israel was friendly and proficient at his work. But what we loved most was his active listening skills and then explanation(s) of each problem and how he would embark on said repair/replacement/etc. And even more, he described how we — as new tenants — can prevent similar issues or potential damages to our apartment during the term of our lease. He was (effortlessly) confident, but not cocky. He was very creative and efficient, and he worked much faster at executing the laundry list of tasks on our work order than we thought. Additionally, while working on a specific task, he wasn’t annoyed at my asking him a random maintenance question (or five). I finally let him do his work 😆 but he was friendly and professional the entire time. He even gave my partner and I two KN95 masks since the area under the sink had to be painted and sealed over with chemicals. Due to the wildfires, we couldn’t stay in that area for very long and we of course couldn’t open our windows. Without those masks, we might have breathed in chemicals that during a non-COVID/Wildfire apocalypse, we could have otherwise avoided with fresh air/circulation. Long review to prove a simple fact: Isreal was professional, friendly, efficient, knowledgeable, and very confident in his ability to get everything on our list done. And? He absolutely did. Cheers to you Israel! Any Bluestone & Hockley tenant would be lucky to have you!!!

Rude and incompetent management of the Uglo Manner apartments in Dallas Oregon. Housing provided was unsanitary at time of move in. Old poorly maintained buildings have frequent critical infrastructure failures resulting in an inhospitable environment. It took weeks just to get running water in the kitchen. When confronted with service requests, the management is impossible to reach. Best case scenario, you'll receive a snarky/passive aggressive response in a week or two. All of this combined with an unsafe atmosphere created by poorly vetted tenants, outrageous yearly rent hikes, and utter disregard for providing acceptable living conditions make Bluestone one of the worst property management companies I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with.

We've had a great experience with Bluestone and Hockley, especially with our property Manager Jeffrey at Autumn Oaks apartments. We looked at over a dozen other places before we saw autumn oaks and it was the only one that seemed really clean and well managed with the kind of updates that actually make a difference to renters without driving up the price for a "luxury" apartment. They worked with us to get a movein date that would let us overlap a week with our previous apartment and sent us a nice email to welcome us. Jeffrey came by and gave us a tour of the laundry room and apartment himself. The whole time we've been there Jeffrey has been super responsive at dealing with questions and any issue that rose up. And the one time we hit a plumbing snag on the weekend they had someone out within an hour to deal with it and made sure I knew how to turn off the water in the mean time. The plumber they sent out took covid precautions and was very courteous. I highly recommend! They seem to hire empathetic and professional managers and they're very efficient at dealing with issues.

11/20/20 Update: I just had some maintenance work done by Israel and he was absolutely terrific! He was very friendly and professional, and his work was top-notch! Thank you Israel. Tamara Evans and the whole team over at Bluestone & Hockley have been such a wonderful company to lease from. They are attentive and helpful, but most of all, they truly care about the happiness and satisfaction of their tenants. I plan on renting from them for years to come!

Our current property manager, Liz, and Carlos, one of our favorite maintenance techs, take excellent care of my 96 year old Grandma's house and make sure she is always pleased with the work that is done. I lived in Lake Village Apartments for two years, and had a very positive experience. Susan is a very kind and attentive manager, and would keep us all in the loop through email, even for minor things. Robert was also very helpful. As a woman living alone, I never felt unsafe in these apartments, and I loved the quiet view of the lake. I appreciated that I could pay my rent online, and Bluestone & Hockley was overall easy to communicate with. I'd contact them first if I ever came back to the area!

We have been with B&H since 2015. Something has changed with their staff. It was a pain to deal with them in the past but now it's a 180 for the best. Everyone I have dealt with now is great! I am a tenant in a building managed by B&H. I have had a few maintenance needs since moving in. Each maintenance technician who has come has been professional, helpful and courteous. Jeffrey at Autumn Oaks is by far the most kind and accommodating property manager I have ever rented from. He is incredibly diligent about addressing tenant needs in a timely manner, and always makes sure to do so with an empathetic heart. He makes a great effort to foster a sense of community in our complex, and picks incredible renters who help make the property feel safe, but simultaneously upbeat and friendly. Our neighbors have always made us feel welcome, and since moving in in September 2019, we have been incredibly pleased to be a part of this community. Maintenance is quick and competent. Israel was dispatched to look at my washing machine, it needed a new part which would taker almost 2 weeks to come in. He rigged it so I could still wash my clothes while waiting for the part to come in. Quick, friendly and professional!

Nicole Caraway is the best manager I've had at any rental, probably ever. She really cares about the tenants and the property. Not only does she make herself available, she follows through and follows up; something that can be hard to find these days. Much better than the manager before her, he was not good. Israel was our maintenance tech that came out to help fix some things in our unit. He was very professional and helpful, kept me in the loop about what was going on and we made a plan for next steps because the repair ended up being a larger problem. Adding on to this - we also wanted to leave positive review for Joe! He came out after hours to fix our ceiling fan and was very professional and overall extremely helpful! This review is specifically for a maintenance request we submitted recently, which was responded to by Gilbert, who is in charge of maintenance concerns in our apartment complex here in Salem. We had issues with our hot water in the shower/tub area and not being able to get the water to stop. Gilbert showed up on New Year's Day, and without hesitation completed the work in a professional, dignified manner that represented B & H very well. Gilbert was courteous and left a very positive impression. He even fixed an issue with the cold water valve in the shower/tub which had not yet become a problem but would have caused us issues down the line. Way to go Gilbert, thank you so much, you represent B & H very well!

I have lived in Bluestone & Hockley property for 15 years now and love my home at Raleigh Court, and greatly enjoyed my experience in this building. Management and especially maintenance department are very professional kind and helpful. However, the past tow years have been challenging. My downstairs neighbors consistently making noise having some kind of weird fans going on 24/7. I wrote emails to management, to resolve this issue and facilitate resolution. Very sad and disappointed and forcing me to move after this many years. I would like someone to answer my questions.

These folks at this company have genuinely shown my family and I such compassion and understanding of our situation that I don't even want to honestly rent from anyone else. I enjoyed working with the HOA clients here a lot from 2013-2016 and they enjoyed working with me too. I was an all-star employee and role model but was taken down by two childhood best friends in higher power there in the Community Association Management department so I couldn't shine my best here unfortunately. I would proceed with strong caution if you're looking to work here, unless maybe things have changed since 2016, or if you're someone only looking to exploit the company I suppose, that might work well for you. They let tenants get away with murder my elderly mother has the worst neighbors at 418 Fairview ave SE in Salem Oregon with 3 dogs one pitbull that is aggressive I cant get them to remedy the situation whatsoever. Mr Heron Olvera from Bluestone and Hockley provided excellent and responsive customer service. My refrigerator was broken and the team at B&H sent out a repairman to test it. A new fridge was recommended and Mr Heron Olvera had one picked out and delivered Within a few days. The new fridge was just the right kind for my place. Mr Olvera also communicated well with me by phone, text and email and with professional courtesy. I recommend him and his company (Bluestone & Hockley) to anyone. Also recently Mr Heron sent a technician called Ben who fixed and replaced my kitchen faucet And went out of his way to find a matching legacy replacement and an excellent job was done by Ben in addition to very friendly customer service. They've always done a great job & been very helpful & professional & friendly overall. Ben helped today & he did a great job & was very friendly, & knowledgeable, efficient with a maintenance issue. I really appreciate all the help! Unfortunately, I have to add to this & make it known that Bluestone & Hockley ended up CHARGING me for this service AFTER it had already been done even though no one said ANYTHING or gave me the OPTION & let me know it would cost me almost $100 for a 15 minute toilet seat replacement. I'm not pleased.

Taylor Coakley is an amazing community manager. She’s really the best type of person to do the job she’s in … personable and professional. Honestly, I don’t know how she does it all but she does. And she does it so well. For example, when I stop by her office, she’s always available, smiling, patient and helpful … even though I’m sure I’m the 50th person who “just stopped by” that day. She is also organized, focused and full of energy because you can see ongoing results from her management of our building with myriad projects getting done. I've had lots of appliance problems the first few months of living in one of their apartments, and the maintenance staff are so helpful and kind! Israel Horton has come to look at our drier, washing machine, and refrigerator, and he's always great about explaining what's going on as he fixes things. I also want to commend Heron Olvera at dispatch for following up to make sure we didn't have to wait another two weeks when our brand new washing machine wasn't working. He found the earliest possible time to get someone to come look at it, and he was so kind about everything that I didn't feel like an inconvenience. Meghan, our onsite manager, has been so patient and helpful through the whole thing. What a great team!

Just move in to one of the apartments. Our property manager Meghan was so kind to help up approving an installation of laundry room doors after our request. I have been renting from them for the first time and i am going into my second month. My experience has been great so far. I had a couple maintenance issues and they took care of them immediately. Everyone has been helpful and friendly. Definitely happy with my decision to rent with them.

When the technician Joe arrived he was very professional had all his tools knew what he was doing and went right to work. We rented a townhouse from Bluestone and Hockley for about 15 months and had a great experience having them as a leasing office. We had an area manager, Susan, that we could individually contact for any needs or questions. As a whole, the company and manager were responsive, professional and helpful. Any maintenance needs we had were filled promptly and efficiently by Robert. We moved in from a distance, and thus agreed to the property site unseen. It was beautiful and completely as advertised.

Since the dryer was not working properly , Israel promptly came to help us and determined a replacement is needed. the next day, Heron have arranged a date for replacement unit for us . Bluestone maintenance team is very responsible and responsive.

We relocated from Sac to Portland. Hannah was very helpful over the phone and by email confirming our apt would be ready to move in. Once we moved in, we needed our dishwasher fixed and Heron communicated promptly and was very friendly. They replaced the dishwasher for us. Also, paying rent online is very convenient. So far we are very pleased with our apt and leasing experience!

My partner and I rented from Bluestone & Hockley for a little over a year, and we would gladly rent from them again in the future. They were responsive, timely with maintenance requests, and proactively accommodating when the COVID crisis hit (they cancelled scheduled raises on rent and refrained from implementing a utility charge). It's not common to find a property management company that cares, but I believe that B&H truly do care about their tenants wellbeing. Glad to have them as an option for renting in Portland!

My partner and I rented from Bluestone Hockley for over 4 years. It was a wonderful experience. Susan Leighty was an awesome property manager. She was nice and easy to talk to, quick to respond to emails, and happy to work around our schedule. Robert is great with maintenance requests - but we did not need many. He is kind and easy going, flexible with scheduling, and best of all, loved our weird little dog despite her barking nonstop whenever he came by. You can tell they are invested in the humans who live in their properties. 5/5 would rent again.
