    We recently purchased a new vehicle from Berman Subaru. This was our first car purchase and the experience could not have been smoother.     The customer service is fantastic. First started off by buying engine oil filters, now I'm here to purchase the 2021 wrx sti. Updated: changing from a 5 star to a 2 star. Just a heads up if you are purchasing a car from this dealer. Ask to audio record it. Due to miscommunication/confusion between us and the sales rep that was working with us. The sti that I've been wanting to own for over a decade will not have many of the accessories that I wanted to splurge on myself. Leaves such a bad taste, I honestly dont even want the sti anymore.

    I had a great experience here getting my Subaru Forester serviced. Lonnie went above and beyond with great communication around the status of everything, helping me pick up and install a part I’d ordered, and even helping me fix my bike lock when I came to pick up my car.     The purchase experience at Berman was extremely smooth! I found a car on their website Sunday afternoon, had a price quote by the end of the day, was contacted by the sales person Monday morning, we worked out the details that day, and I bought the car on Tuesday. Almost everything was handled online before I got there, the car was ready for me when I arrived, and everything was exactly as promised. This was the easiest and least stressful car-buying experience I've ever had!

    I had to bring my Subaru in for a recall repair and a couple of other minor issues - I had originally called McGrath in Evanston but they said there were no appointments for 7 weeks. I called Berman and they were able to take me in 2 days. Not only that but when I called to make the appointment, the woman could not have been more lovely. She even started by saying "thank you for letting us earn your business" and they sure did! The chairs in the waiting area were comfortable and safely spaced out, TV and coffee machine were a nice bonus, the service appointment was much faster than I anticipated, the additional work and costs were clearly explained before they proceeded, and everyone I dealt with was professional and kind. Plus I like that the service bay has a mural, like they're trying to keep the cars in good sprits while they're 'recovering.' Very pleased with the whole experience, and I will absolutely make this my go-to service center!

    I know that Berman offers an online option for purchase, but I went the more traditional route of coming in after finding the prices at Berman better than the online options at other retailers that I looked at. I worked with Daniel who was quick to let me try out the vehicle I looked at online. He was informative, worked through the financing process with me and actually got me set up with the vehicle quickly. I left with favorable terms and a fair price and not once did I feel the pressure I've felt in the past at dealerships.

    I've always been nervous about working with dealerships because of the bad rep car sales people get. I was completely blown away with the experience I had with Santi at Berman Subaru. He helped me compare between 2 models I was on the fence about. I've gotten multiple follow up calls to make sure I was happy with my purchase and they made my experience very streamline. During this market where everyone is overcharging for their cars, you do not have to worry about that with Subaru. highly highly recommend

    Took my car in for oil change, tire rotation, and other maintenance. Love the staff there. I was first greeted by a woman. I don't recall her name. She was very friendly and courteous. Next Nes got me checked in. He was courteous friendly and had a great sense of humor. He checked me and out. His waiting time was spot on. Everything is working fine. Thanks Subaru staff!

    From order to delivery, Berman was great for puchasing a car. I had been dreading having to spend the time at the dealer buying a car for a couple years now and they were amazing throughout the process. Ordered the car in October, and Kevin was great about keeping me updated on the process until the car was delivered. The in showroom part of the sale was quick (I mean quicker than expected, it still took about 2 hours) but the amount of care and attention they provided was great. Everything was delivered as expected, no unseen markups or gimicks. I have since been back to have floormats installed, and the service department was great as well. The best waiting room I have ever experienced at a dealership.

    Went in because my key would get stuck in my transmission after I put the car in park. Everyone was very friendly, and Jovany gave me all the details on how long it would take to find the problem. Once they identified it, they gave me a ride share credit so I could go home and then more when the car was ready. And then I found out the repair was covered under an extended warranty. All in all a fantastic experience

    I can only speak to internet sales as I haven’t used their service department or premises yet. Brandon was great to work with and professional. I used to work at a dealership and they did not play any of the games or have dishonest practices which is great as I prefer to only do business with companies are ethical.

    Nas Davis was my service provider and did an exceptional job at answering all my questions and made sure I was comfortable as I waited for the maintenance on my car to be completed. He also checked to make sure of the warranty I had on my vehicle to make sure I didn't have to pay for the service. Thus, the work that was done was free of charge.     Make an appointment and be clear with what you want done! Came here for a check up after a ~1000 mile drive from Colorado on a Monday 11am. Decided first about diagnosis and the complimentary multi point inspection and car wash, then changed my mind 15 mins in. Thanks Jovany for granting my wish to remove the diagnosis today (187$ fee, if they find something and you go through with the recommendation fix, then they waive the fee). Still a long wait time for this since I didn't make an appt (I waited 3 to 4 hours) so be sure to bring something to stay productive.

    Can't say enough good things about Joe D'Andrea and the staff at Berman Subaru of Chicago! I started discussing a used car purchase with Joe online. He answered all of my questions quickly and everything was very transparent. The car was pulled up, cleaned up, warmed up, and ready for a test drive when we arrived. The purchase process was pain free and we were in and out of there in no time. I was unable to drive the car home at the time because of my other vehicle so Joe arranged to have it delivered to my home the same day!!! If you are looking for a new or used vehicle you should definitely visit Berman Subaru of Chicago!

    I only gave them 1 star because a zero rating isn't allowed. My daughter and I spent 7 hours there today attempting to purchase a very nice older used car. The car was clearly price listed online as $4969 and later in the ad showed "$5861 inc. taxes and fees". When we arrived, part of the conversation included our question of whether or not they would honor the internet price, to which the salesperson said "absolutely". We then proceeded to test drive it and take it to my mechanic to check over. We were delighted with the car and headed back. In the meantime we received a text from the salesperson to be back by a certain time because they had 2 other people wanting to look at the car. Well we go back and said we wanted it and write it up. When he came back the sales manager had added a $1600 vehicle reconditioning fee for which we of course balked. That started nickel and dime negotiation and in the meantime another sales person comes over and takes the keys so another party can test drive. This became a bidding war to war which we eventually lost because we were paying cash and the other party was financing. The absolute worst car buying experience I've ever encountered in the 45 years I've been driving and buying cars.

Have not been disappointed. This is the first time I bought a car from there. The mistake that happened were with the options I ordered for my car. Whoever was giving the quote did not quite pay attention to exactly what I asked. But once that was uncovered, they bent over backwards to fix it. The sales manager was great in personally calling me and making sure that I was satisfied. Maria the sales person followed up several times as well. The Finance Manager was great - no hard selling of warranty - just gave me good value on the warranty. The trade in process was excellent. I got a fair price for my trade in and then the price that I was given for the new vehicle was great. I got a Forester Touring 2.5. They even looked at the expiration of my license plate and gave me the option to save on license plate renewal fee. The showroom may not be flashy and the neighborhood may look a bit rundown. But I cannot complain the service I received. Thanks for making my experience pleasurable. Great service. Courtney is great. Works hard. Takes care.

    My boyfriend and I had a great first time experience buying a car at Berman! I always thought buying a car would be a dreadful process and expected to get schmoozed and swindled at every turn, but it never felt that way and was actually quite fun. Huge shout out to Jeanette who helped us decide the exact model we wanted, breaking down the costs, features, add-ons, etc - thanks to her, there were no surprises in the finance room minus deciding on the extended warranty. Julio was great during the financing process - did not take long at all and very transparent. Lastly, Victor was really helpful in explaining all of the car's safety features. Thanks again Jeanette, Julio, & Victor! We love our Crosstrek and have affectionately named her Robin "Eggy".

    Today was the final straw for Berman (all Berman locations, not just Subaru). There are many auto dealers out there that are "just bad". They do not care about customer service, doing quality work, hiring and training good staff, etc. They only care about making the most profit possible. Berman is one such dealer group. My first experience with Berman was shopping for a new Forester. After spending entirely too much time there - they couldn't get a car pulled up for a quick test drive, they couldn't get my car appraised, and they and couldn't put together opening figures in less than 1.5 hours. It was a weekday afternoon with hardly any other customers. The original numbers were so laughable and insulting that they did not get a counter from me. I did learn how their sales department operates, though. I purchased my vehicle at Subaru in Orland Park the next day. Second and third bad experiences are with their service dept. When you quote 1-1.5 hours for an oil change and tire rotation, for a weekday service, and with an appointment, please don't take 2+ hours. When the customer asks you not to machine-wash the car because it's black, either hand wash it or don't wash it (they machine-washed it anyway). When the customer's car if finished, please don't have them walk the entire lot for 15 minutes looking for their car (it was still inside. They pulled it out when I told them I walked the whole lot twice and couldn't find it). Fourth bad experience. I was with a friend and we very near Berman Nissan. He was having battery issues so he had a little jump box with him. His car died, and the jump box did not have enough charge to jump it. We did make it inside the service center. It was 15 minutes before closing, which was apparently their cut-off. No, they would not sell and install a new battery, which was not difficult to get to whatsoever. It would have taken 15 minutes to change. They didn't offer a jump, either. We had the car towed, which took 2 hours. Final straw came today when I arrived for my scheduled service appointment. When I arrived, I was told that their computers went down an hour ago. They recently came back on, but because they didn't have wi-fi they might not finish my car today. End of statement. No loaner car offer. No offer to even take me home. I asked them why they didn't call me to let me know. She said she didn't know. I put my car in reverse and then she asked if I was leaving. Seriously? Yeah, I'm leaving. Never to return again.

    To be perfectly honest, I was dreading having to go car shopping. But Berman Subaru made this such a painless (and enjoyable) experience! I worked mainly with Josh McGee to find and ultimately purchase my Forester, which I am loving so far! I liked that Josh was very pleasant and straightforward throughout the entire process and I would absolutely recommend him to a friend that was looking to purchase a Subaru.     I love my new Subaru and had a wonderful experience with Josh! He was helpful, attentive, not condescending and very friendly. My only issue was that the car had leftover dirt, trash, and paperwork from the previous owner. When I test drove the car, I had asked for it to be detailed and thoroughly cleaned out, but it seemed like just the paper floor mats were put on the floor and the seats were vacuumed. Other than that, my experience was excellent!

We never felt pressured to buy or add on options. Once we decided on a car, we worked through the paperwork quickly and the finance manager, Julio, was also great to work with. He explained everything we were signing and why and we had a smooth experience closing out the transaction. This was the smoothest car buying experience, I've ever had. We came in looking for a specific make, and he provided us with a ton of time to get to know the various trims and options available to us. The test drive was quick and easy thanks to his help.     Make an appointment online for service. They are efficient and give you an accurate time table and cost. They knew about a problem with ignition switch and had the replacement parts on hand. They have safety measures in place and cover your steering wheel and seat with plastic. Love my Subaru- respect Berman techs.

    We had a great experience purchasing our Outback from Berman Subaru. The staff was very helpful and made the process very easy and stress free. What was really great was returning to Berman a month or so after purchasing the car, to review the features of the car again; it is all a little overwhelming the day you actually purchase the car.     When I first scheduled my service appointment for inspection and oil change I was told I’d wait around 45 min. I ended up waiting for like 80 min. Which I didn’t mind really, I had the day off. But I wasn’t offered coffee or water at all. There was really no interaction at all with me. Just in and out, except there were 80 min Im between.

    I have purchased 10 Subaru cars from Berman Subaru Irving Park from 2005 to 2020: 1. Forester 2. Outback 3.Tribeca x2 4. Impressa 5. Legacy Sedan 6. Crosstrek 7. Outback x2 8. Ascent. These are for my business and personal use ALL BRAND NEW upon purchase. Ascent 2019 Problem: I was just purchasing a wheel lock for $40.00 the service department said i have to bring my Ascent 2019 car to program the Wheel lock, so we did and waited, then he came to us said if i need a valet key to lock the glove compartment I thought it was just a regular key and the part is available (not mentioning how much will it cost) and the part is available and there will be reprograming of the keys after hours of waiting he said he will order the plate and will call me once the plate is ready for pick up I ended up paying $450. instead of $40., it took more than 2 weeks waiting their call.. did not happen, i have to call them and have the keys reprogram again. This was the first time that i encounter problem, I believe the guy in service department who attended to me has no or less experience and at that time he said less mechanic is available because they were on strike. Out of this frustration and unsatisfactory service, the Brand new Outback 2019 that i purchase on 2020 I was going to upgrade to Outback 2021 model instead I traded with Outback 2021 from other Dealer, so I will not make business again with Berman Subaru Irving Park.

    Just walked out of Berman Subaru with my son. This is his first new car purchase. Hands down the BEST car buying experience I have ever had. Kevin was up front and honest and made it a point to make this an enjoyable car buying experience. After visiting a Subaru dealership in Schaumburg yesterday where the visit turned into a nightmare this was a breath of fresh air. Chicago land people DO NOT go to the burbs for your Subaru. We saved $4k and got exactly what we wanted going to Bermans! As my son said while walking out of the dealership “Now that’s how you’re supposed to feel after walking out of a dealership!”

    My partner and I went into Berman looking for a new SUV, preferably a Subaru Forester. We were matched with Josh to be our sales consultant. Josh took the time to first hear our needs in our next vehicle (price point, color and features). Josh then showed us multiple options within our price range. After going for a test drive, we decided we wanted leather seats instead of cloth. Josh showed us a Forester with leather seats and he made sure to select one that had an electric trunk. We mentioned we had a dog and he thought it would be helpful to have the electric trunk. Really appreciated Josh's calm, cool demeanor and attention to details. Highly recommend Berman!     Very disorganized buisness. I went there already pre-approved and ready to buy a car I seen they had in thier website for over 8 days. I called and left a voice mail for someone to give me a call back. I did not recieve a phone call back instead I recieved a text message. So I tried calling the salesman back afterwards he did not answer. So then I decided to text him back with a question I had on my trade in. I was finally able to get him to answer when I called back the 4th time. I had asked him if a certain vehicle they had was still available. He said yes it is and readily available. So I set up a time for me to come in and make a deal the following morning. I live an hour away from this dealership. I sent the salesman a text stating that I was in my way, that I would be there in an hour. No reply. I get there parking is a pain around the dealership itself. I go in and the guy I had spoke with was busy at that time. That is understandable, When I was waiting j was looking for the vehicle that I was interested in, I was unable to locate it. I figured it was in the parking lot across the street looked as if there were many cars they had in thier inventory over there. I decided to wait inside for the salesman to finish with another customer. He approached me and appologised for the wait. He then informed me that the vehicle was taken offsite to a detailing place. I had asked him when it would be back. He said not until Monday. I was furious, I drove all the way up there an hour there and an hour and a half back home because of traffic. Just to be told that the vehicle was not readily available like the salesman had said. He then had told me that he would give me a call Monday when the vehicle would return. No text no phone call. To me that is bad business. As a member of sales, you honor your commitments. This sales man did not honor any of the commitments he had with me whatsoever. It baffles me to think that someone who's livelihood is based on making a sale. You would think that he would be working his rear-end off to make that sale. Or at least honor your commitments.

    I worked with Jackie Benyamin to trade in my 2016 Subaru Legacy for a 2019 Ascent and she was magnificent! I was in a time crunch and she was extremely understanding. She called me the night before to confirm which cars I wanted to see so they'd be ready to test drive prior to my arrival at the dealership. Jackie also had me send her some necessary information prior to my appointment so we would spend less time on paperwork. While I test drove the first car, my trade-in was appraised. The entire process of trading in my car and buying my new (used) car was very quick! I was also extremely impressed with what a good deal my 2019 Ascent was. I couldn't find a lower price online anywhere in 300 miles. I am so, so happy that I came back to Berman to buy my car and that I got to work with Jackie! I am a Subaru owner for life!

    We made an appointment to test drive a used Forester. We showed up on time, and the salesman my husband had been corresponding with wasn’t there that day. After the staff scrambled, we were given a pleasant, young salesman. He had no idea what car we were interested in. So much for the car “being ready up front for a test drive” when you make and confirm an appointment..... At first we were told the car was being washed. So we waited around. Eventually our salesman came back and told us the car wasn’t even there, it was being “detailed”. Why would you pull a car the day it was being test driven? He offered to “follow-up with us” We told him we were more than likely going to purchase a car elsewhere as we were facing a bit of a time crunch (wanted to purchase a car prior to the weekend). At that point another man came over and basically blamed everything on the original salesman who wasn’t there. Maybe it was his fault, maybe it’s an issue with the business as a whole. He also offered to follow up and I encouraged them to try but unfortunately they were likely going to lose a sale. So we left, went to another Subaru location and were able to test drive and purchase a car. That location was accommodating, warm and friendly. Apparently it’s not uncommon for the Chicago location to give people the run around so honestly I’m glad we found another dealership that is professional, personable, and well run.

    I had the best experience at Berman Subaru working with Jackie Benyamin. It was so refreshing to be treated with care and understanding while car shopping. Jackie took the time to fully understand my needs so she could better direct me to options that would work for me. Instead of just trying to close the sale as quickly as possible, she educated me about my options, allowed me to test drive multiple cars and provided feedback when asked for her opinion. I trusted Jackie and loved working with her. I was so happy that we were able to find a car that fit what I was looking for. I couldn’t be happier with my new Subaru and I would recommend that everyone work with Jackie.     Absolutely loved my experience from the start. Met Jacklyn Benyamin when I first went to test drive the car a month ago. She helped explain all the excellent features of the Subaru and was very honest. We kept in contact since then and she was available to answer any questions as I went through my decision process to purchase a vehicle. After buying the car, she still kept in touch and made sure everything was okay. Overall I don’t think my first car purchase would have been as wonderful if it wasn’t for Jackie.     We were interested in purchasing a Subaru Forester and saw that they were offering 0% financing on this model so we went to Berman Subaru to purchase the vehicle because they were the closest dealer to us. We test drove a Forester and we loved it. We went back in and started the process to purchase the vehicle. This is where we decided not to buy from Berman. First they said the financing offer was only available for well qualified buyers and once they found that we had the credit score to qualify, then they claimed 0% financing was only available on the base model foresters, even though that is not what the ad said that I pulled up on my phone. The salesman claimed he spoke with a sales manager and said he was told there was no way to give us 0% financing so we left. If low financing is advertised, they should of given us that deal. The deal was 0% for 36 month, 0.9% for 48 months and 1.9% for 60 to 72 months. We shouldn’t have been lied to. We are well qualified buyers and we did buy the Subaru Forester Premium, the exact vehicle we wanted to purchase at Berman’s and we got the low financing the very next day at McGrath Subaru. We did not have to beg or argue for the rate that was being advertised until June 1, 2021 at McGrath. I will tell everyone I know that Berman’s doesn’t honor online advertised financing.

    We really enjoyed our experience here! We worked with Brandon to trade in our old cars and buy a 2020 Impreza. He was extremely helpful our first visit when we test drive the car, and very pleasant when we came back the next week to purchase it.     I recently purchased a used Honda CRV from Mid-City Subaru and had a surprisingly great experience. While hunting for cars over the past month I had encountered a number of unprofessional, sleazy, and incredibly frustrating experiences at other dealerships. I went to Berman expecting the same type of treatment, only to be pleasantly surprised. I went with my Grandfather and between the 2 of us we had A LOT of questions. They were incredibly patient and any answer they did not know they looked into right away. It was a much more relaxing experience - I never felt pushed into anything. I am incredibly indecisive and was having a hard time pulling the trigger on purchasing the car, and never once were they in my face or breathing down my neck talking me into something. We were there for a number of hours and were treated VERY well. When it came down to talk about price, I did not think they would be willing to budge but we were able to come to an agreement on price and I was really surprised by the willingness and honesty to work with us a bit. I worked with Steve Penrod who I had spoken with on the phone a few times and worked with to test drive, answer a million questions, and walk us through the process. He was nothing but kind, professional and incredibly patient. A few days prior to my purchase of the car, my Grandfather went in to check out the car and ask a few questions. He was greeted by Edwin Acevedo and had a really pleasant experience with Edwin as well. The cars we were looking at were covered in snow and he made sure the following day they were cleared before knowing if we were even coming in. Everyone there was really kind including the manager who we spoke with briefly about the price. Overall, a really great experience and I really appreciated all the help, patience, and giving my breathing room to make a decision. I will definitely encourage other family and friends to visit Mid-City Berman on Irving who are looking to purchase a car with a strong recommendation to work with both Steve or Edwin.

    Second time coming here, and the staff is always very pleasant and helpful. Today I was assisted by Jonathan for an inspection as well as an oil change. He was very attentive, and friendly, and articulated everything about the process easily and understandably! Smooth process from start to end. Would recommend anyone to come here.     It’s been years since I’ve owned a vehicle. At the end of Oct I purchased a Subaru. This was my first time needing any type of service. This entire team was remarkable. From Ray, who got me scheduled all the way to Courtney at the front desk. Courtney did take it a step further. I felt heard with all my initial concerns. First I wanted to make it to yoga, so she kept me informed with how long it would be as well as things that were found during my visit. Where she really shined is making sure I had a clean vehicle. I was so surprised bc I just made an offhand comment about going later that day to get my car washed. To my surprise I came out to a clean car. I would recommend everyone, especially if you own a Subaru to get you car serviced here. The staff is friendly and the waiting room is clean and COVID friendly.

    The service here is world class. I have often been delighted by how fast the service is and the care the entire team takes to put me first. Taking your car in for service is like going to the dentist...you have to do it but it's a pain.     It depends what you want. For sales, I had a very good experience with them. For service, OK but nothing out of the ordinary. Waiting room could be more comfortable. But for trade-in, go elsewhere. They low-balled me and I did much better elsewhere. So, a good place to buy a car, a fair place for service and below par for trade-ins or selling a used car.

    Terry and the service team there is great. I finally have tackled the last challenge of becoming an adult and let people who know what they’re doing service my car instead of me trying to fix it on the street. They are super fair with their pricing and even try to find the most economical way to solve a problem if possible. The staff are all friendly and willing to help you understand what was wrong with your vehicle and the plan to remedy it. Waiting area is comfortable too!

    Worst Vehicle Service I Have Experienced I took my 2015 Subaru Crosstrek in for service after hitting a large pothole. I needed a new rim, tire, tpms sensor, control arm, sway bars. All in all the bill was +$4,000. That's fine. I have no problem paying a premium for quality, professional dealership service. I told the Service Tech Dom that I would bring my vehicle back for repairs as i need it for the weekend. Upon bringing my vehicle back in, Dom told me he forgot what service the vehicle needed. After going through yet another diagnostic and waiting nearly 2 weeks for a part to come in, my vehicle was finally ready for pickup. I was given my vehicle inspection report which noted i need a new engine air filter, which i bought. I paid and on my ride home i noticed my car's alignment was still significantly off. I also noticed i had been given the wrong vehicle inspection report which meant that i did not need the engine air filter after all. i returned my vehicle and informed them of my frustration given the amount of time they had my vehicle and the amount of money i have spent. I spoke with the service manager Terry who offered no apology and wanted to direct me to the same service technician who had bungled my initial service. My car received yet another alignment and was finally ready yet again for pick-up. Only this time after driving it off the lot my tire pressure light stays on and there is a grinding noise coming from the front driver-side wheel-well while actuating a left hand turn. I returned my vehicle in for a third time and was told by the service manager that it couldn't be looked at that day and, once again, i was offered no apology or acknowledgment whatsoever. +$4,000, 3 weeks and 3 return trips later - my vehicle is STILL not serviced correctly. I have been coming to Berman for 7 years and have noticed in the last year the service department take a nose dive in quality and professionalism. I cannot find a good reason to continue doing business with Berman and give them my hard-earned money. *not to mention the fact that every time i have walked into the service department i have seen technicians and staff walking around without their face masks on despite notices being clearly marked on all doors.

    Incredibly disappointed by my 4 hour oil change. I made an appointment in the morning, agreed to wait knowing there would be a possible delay of 1-2 hours, and was basically forgotten. Many people came and went while I sat and waited; I would expect this if I was a walk-in, but I had an 11AM appointment and didn't leave until almost 4PM. When it was time to leave, there was no acknowledgement of my waiting 4 hours for an oil change, just a simple "sorry" and nothing more. No follow-up either afterwards, but maybe that is because I only did a 2-star rating on my feedback survey, or because I willingly waited. This is frustrating because my buying experience was really good last year.

    They are friendly, but I brought my car in for 6 months oil and tire. They washed it and the next day when I used my trunk for the first time since the car wash I noticed these scratches. I can only imagine that they were made from the machine and something metal being on one of the pieces. They claim they did not cause it because their machine moves left to right (please note scratches are left to right) Very frustrating. Will be warning people to not use them for service. Will not take accountability.

    Friendly/helpful staff and was able to fit me in for an oil change same day. A little annoyed as I was asked multiple times when I schedule/on intake if I was going to stay or drop off my car, and each time I told them I would stay. Then they must've forgotten I was staying, as after two hours I went up to the desk to ask how much longer and was told my car was actually done/finished (I was initially told 1.5hr so I was trying to give them extra time). It would have been fine honestly since it seemed like they were busy, but I was also told my brake fuel reservoir was low/empty and they recommended filling/flushing it. I declined and went home, since I wanted to check it out myself first. Wouldn't you know when I get home to look, my reservoir is full... Granted since it is full, at first glance it looks completely empty (I had to take off the cap to confirm it was full), but overall annoyed with my experience. I wanted to try this dealership out since it was closer to me, but I think I'm going to stick with my original one.

    I wanted to pick up a used car at a good price for my first car. I went into Mid city after looking at a few dealerships and absolutely loved working with them! Ended up purchasing a car that basically looked like it was brand new and well maintained. I worked with Tina initially, but did my purchase with Will both of whom were excellent. Very easy to talk to and work with, no pushy used car salesman attitude. Helped me understand everything about the vehicle, walked me through the financing procedures and had me on my way. Will is a great guy and also courteously followed up after my purchase to inquire on how I liked it. The reason I did business with this dealership over others is their attitude towards customers and great service. Their vehicles are also aggressively priced. The whole team at Mid City is fantastic and I loved doing business with them! Highly recommend checking these guys out.

    Having bought several luxury brands (Mercedes, BMW, Land Rover and BMW) over the years, I must say that this is my favorite dealer. They could not have made the sales process any easier. Price was fair. Their follow through was superb on everything involved in from ordering the vehicle through delivery. They provided the time, effort, and expertise to teach me about all of the features and electronic stuff, and helped me to set up the vehicle with all the settings we wanted for multiple drivers. Honestly, the dealers of those luxury brands could learn a few lessons from Subaru of Chicago!

    The few times I was here, I was really upset as I kept being told it would be a 2 hour wait and ended up dropping off my car at 11 and then waiting until 4-5PM with no updates. I would wait at the Starbucks across the street for hours. Every time I tried to call at the 2 hour mark, either everyone was busy or no one could answer my questions about the status of my car. This time, I was helped by Lonnie who was friendly and honest about the wait. They said it was going to be 2 hours, and it took about that time! Even less. Last time I came in, one of the other advisors mentioned all these other things that needed to be done ASAP. I asked Lonnie what the status of those things were, and they said it all looked good and fine. So now I know which advisors to avoid, and which ones to trust. Lonnie is honest and patient and I hope to continue working with them!

    Parts. Jason V at the parts department is awesome. He's extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. The parts department has been excellent for over a decade in my experience and I've gotten a lot of parts over the years. I give them 5 stars. Sales. When I looked for a new car they weren't very knowledgeable but were friendly. It is interesting knowing more about a car than someone who is trying to sell it to you. That drove me away. 3 stars. Service. Never had my cars serviced here. I had hoped to. I recently called for an estimate on specific services and couldn't get an accurate answer. I'm not a mechanic yet knew way more about my car than the person I talked to and they didn't try finding someone more knowledgeable. 1-2 stars but can't specify quality or cost of work.

    I scheduled some regular maintenance before a trip and had an appointment for them to pick up my car. They no-showed. Unreliable. I had to scramble to get an oil change on top of packing for the trip. Later, I ordered a key fob and it required many phone calls and almost 4 months to get an appointment for them to reprogram it. Extremely frustrating. On the day of the appointment I waited 15 minutes to get checked in. They had the car for 2 hours...for a key fob! Wasted afternoon. They seem like nice people but not worth the hassle. I'll take my Forester elsewhere in the future.

    My Wife and I were window shopping for a vehicle and came across the Mid-City Subaru dealership. Upon entry - we were welcomed by Brian Martin and asked us if he could help us with anything. We told him we were unfamiliar with Subaru, that we were long-time Mazda owners and were looking outside the box to see what else was on the market. After discussing “what was important to us” and “what we could do without” - Brian quickly had two cars lined up for test driving and got us on the road to get a feel for what a Subaru was all about. Before taking the first car for a drive, Brian stopped us and asked if we wanted a water or coffee. Upon return from the test drive - we sat down with Brian to work out a plan that met both our financial/driving needs. At no point did we feel obligated to buy. Brian was very hospitable, with great attention to detail and a sense of humor. We worked closely Dan D’Andrea (Sales Manager) to complete the final details and felt both Brian/Dan did everything in their power to meet our needs. We decided to buy and are thrilled to be new owners of a Subaru Outback. I can’t thank Dan/Brian enough for this great experience and look forward to working with them in the future.

    Terrible buying experience. I have never had a purchase of a vehicle take so long. Agreed on a price and took over two hours to speak with the finance department. Salesman would frequently disappear for extended periods of time and not share any details of what was going on. I will never do business with this dealership again.

    After 2 weeks of dealing with Bart, I was promised a price on a vehicle. I drove 3 hours to buy it, only to have GM say they cannot honor that price. Avoid Bart as your salesman, poor communication skills. Nik handled the situation the best he could when we got there, and I would highly recommend him as a salesperson. He stayed after his shift for over an hour, trying to help make it right.

    I won't ever shop at Berman ever again. I was in a bind because I was the victim of a car accident where a drunk driver ran a stop sign and totaled my only family car. I have leased five Subaru's in my life and I have never been treated so poorly. We went to Berman because they helped me last year and could deliver a car to our house. I was told because I had no trade in that it would be hard to get a good price on a new car. Which is pretty callous to me... I feel completely taken advantage of and they have lost my family's business forever. I don't typically leave reviews as I prefer to work things out with customer service/management. However, after several calls and emails (which they intiatied) it became apparent that they weren't going to make this right and were just hoping I would go away.

    We took our Subaru here for a diagnostic on a malfunctioning backup camera screen. They told us it would take one hour; instead they spent three hours doing "complimentary inspections" we did not ask for or agree to. They then told us they didn't know what was wrong with the system - just that it needed to be replaced for thousands of dollars. They tried to up sell us fixes for all the small things they found in their complimentary inspection, which we declined. We paid $200 for nothing but a "we don't know" and a massive upselling pitch that wasted half a work day. We can buy and install a new system for less than $500. Do not go here. This seems completely untrustworthy.

    On October 8th I went in to Berman Subaru to get a crack on my windshield inspected and I worked with Jeramy Perez from then on till a few days later when I came back in to actually get it fixed. He was extremely attentive, very professional and great to work with. While I’ve never had a bad experience at Berman Subaru with any staff member, he went above and beyond to deliver excellent service. In the future I plan to request to work with him specifically.     This was my first experience at Berman Subaru and I can only say wonderful things about the team that helped me. My sales associate, Cindy, made our test drive appointment and negations as seamless and easy as possible. On her days off she checked in with me to make sure that I had all of the information we needed to make our decisions. The dealership’s manager Joe stepped in to help me out with some last minute questions that I had after hours and even had my car delivered to my home to make our buying process as smooth as can be. David, who delivered my car, couldn’t have been nicer, and was so kind and knowledgeable about the vehicle and the paperwork.     Had a great Experience with Iustin. I made an appointment with him at 11:30 and we didn't have to wait until he was free unlike other dealers. He was honest, straight forward, and not too pushy.     I haven't been to a car dealership in 15yrs, and I was on guard expecting an adversarial transaction. I was pleasantly surprised by everyone I dealt with at Berman, from research emails to test drives, sales, and finance. Brandon our salesperson was well informed and helpful, and finance got us a better interest rate than our already good pre-approved bank loan we planned on using. (I emailed our sales Brandon with a question a couple days after the sale, and he almost immediately gave me a phone call and answered my question.) Happy we ended up here, and love the car.

    Short-version: Got charged 3 hours of service for something that can be completed in 1 hour. Total diagnostic/labor cost: $600 (they tried charging me $680 after telling me that the total would be $518). Total cost of parts: $40 Long-version: Giving the lowest possible rating I can. All of my car warning lights came on and I took it into these guys hoping that they'd be the best people to handle a Subaru. Of all of the shady, backdoor schemes I can think of, there is nothing worse than charging someone for three hours of diagnostic service ($450) during a recession/pandemic to just tell me that my battery temperature sensor was missing, a part that can be EASILY seen without having to use any kind of sensor or ripping apart my vehicle. They clearly decided it was a giant wiring issue than to just take a look at a longer look before “pin-pointing each and every wire”, as they put it. The cherry on top was them realizing they've wasted my time and money by telling me that they won't be able to work on it until Friday and suggesting that I should try and get a refund from whoever last serviced my car when the refund should obviously come from the guys who try to charge me $518 for a $40 part. After all that, they installed the battery temperature sensor on Friday, then said that they found a new code that found an issue with the transmission (which ended up being the real problem, not needing a 3-hour diagnostic) which was covered by the car's warranty. Had they found that issues with my transmission sooner or used their eyes to see there was a missing battery temperature sensor, I might not be out $600 from paying an absurd amount in diagnostic charges. They do not reply to calls or voicemails, you will wait an entire day for a reply or simple update request, if they feel like it. You will most likely be forgotten in their voicemail box and not hear back from them unless you're the one who makes the follow-up call. They spend more time replying to bad reviews than to current customer concerns. Good luck friends, you're better off going to the Subaru Autobarn in Joliet.

    My husband and I had a top-notch buying experience with Eddie Fontanez and the Berman crew. Eddie was kind and didn’t pressure us into buying on our first trip in (or at any point). He listened to our needs and encouraged us to test drive multiple cars before we landed on a certified pre-owned option that we hope will be a long-term fixture for us. Julio Cano in Finance and Ben who prepped our car were also incredibly helpful and, along with Eddie, stayed well after hours to ensure we had all of our questions answered and rolled off the lot with our new-to-us car that night. I will recommend Eddie to anyone looking for buy a new or used Subaru—I only wish he had a stack of personalized business cards for me to pass along!

    Update as of 2 months later: After being passed around to speak with 4 different managers over the span of 2 weeks (each telling me I should talk to someone else which made it feel like they were wasting my time on purpose), I was assured that this would be taken care of. The final manager I was working with, Joe, who was supposed to resolve this did not follow through and stopped communicating completely. Unfortunately the staff here live up to the dishonest salesman stereotype. Make the trip up to the Evanston dealership - it's worth the extra drive time to be respected and not outright lied to. Update as of 4 days later: Unfortunately the manager that I was told to contact via Berman Subaru's response to my original review below has not responded to me after several days. The email address they shared is also incorrect - I had to go on their website to find the correct address for the manager as the first email I sent was returned as undeliverable. Another disappointment about the customer service. Original review: My salesman made a mistake in some of the key features on the car I ended up purchasing. After a full 6 hours at the dealership, two test drives, and specific questions about the key features, I purchased the car. After the purchase, the salesman came outside to kindly walk me through setting up the car and realized, two of the important safety features were not actually on this car. I experienced a sinking feeling in my stomach as we had gone over this specifically multiple times (because on the test drive I didn't experience the features but he shared this is because it would only happen in the case of an actual near accident or if I was actually drifting off the road). I know it wasn't his intention to bait and switch but it is what happened. I called to speak to the manager the next business day and was met with disregard, a rude attitude, and accusations that I may be trying to put miles on it then return the car after I finished using it. I feel frustrated and incredibly sad that this happened. This is the car my fiance and I chose because we are starting a family soon and wanted something with all the safety features for our future family. I'm almost more disappointed by the rude and accusatory manager's attitude than I am about what was a sincere mistake, albeit a significant oversight, by my salesman. The manager presented me with vague options to possibly trade it in with no remark about honoring the price I paid. I write this review not out of spite but out of deep disappointment as I saved for years to purchase a car and had my previous car for 15 years... I take care of vehicles and invest in what I believe is good quality. I wouldn't want someone to experience this same situation and to then be treated rudely by management. I've heard great things about the Subaru in Evanston. Many friends encouraged me to go there because of their great service reputation and their personal experiences. I wish I had. It is likely this wouldn't have happened with a salesman who was more attentive to details or a manager that actually sees their customers as real people. Lastly, I'll mention that for our first test drive on a Tuesday night, my fiance and I waited 50 minutes before the car and salesman was ready for us despite having made an appointment days in advance. On the day we purchased the car, it took a full 6 hours (we were there for 7 but I'm not counting the second test drive in this). In the weeks leading up to my purchase, I sent several emails asking questions about the models which were never responded to by the salesman. I ended up having to call him and he said that my emails likely got buried... still no response after that call. I was very close to giving up at that point! I understand being busy - I am a busy person too. This in my opinion was poor service. I should have seen those red flags for what they were. Again, I share this in the hopes that others are forewarned about possible outcomes or perhaps take their business to another dealership who values their customers more.

    I had a good experience at Berman Subaru. I bought a certified Crosstrek. I did a lot of local research prior and the be$t deal for what I wanted was at berman. I didn’t feel the need to bust their balls because the initial price was excellent. The covid buying experience was good too. Made an app’t, they were ready for me, test drives and it was a quick (by car dealer standards) transaction. Clean environment too. Of all the cars I’ve ever bought I thought this was the easiest purchase. Jacklyn was excellent. She knew the Subarus really well and seemed like a “car person”. Paperwork and the “I have to talk to the manager” time was kept to a minimum. Much appreciated. Definitely recommend.

    Purchased a 2017 Forester from this dealer late last year. We found they had 3 "newer" tires and one replacement tire on the vehicle. So I was sold a car for one tire tread way off balance from the rest. We also found TMPS sensor never worked, and required a brake fluid change 60 days after purchase. Paying premium at a dealer to avoid these exact issues and still they happen. Not happy.

    Well...learned today that Berman Subaru of Chicago are a bunch of scam artists. I was getting my Subaru serviced at this dealership since I purchased my new 2019 Forester. I knew something was fishy - my car requires synthetic oil and they insisted I needed oil changes every 3k miles. I said to them that doesn't seem right because synthetic is generally every 6k or twice a year. Each time I took my car in I asked a different person about this and they said "it's what Subaru recommends". Well - I took my car today to another Subaru dealership and asked them how often I should get an oil change and they said every 6k miles. Literally showed me what Subaru said on their screen. Berman will never get another dime out of me or my family and will tell everyone I know to not get scammed from these con artists.

    Time consuming check in process. Less than a year after buying it there, they strongly suggest $2000 worth of service to sealed systems. Keep emailing me suggesting same, even after a poor customer satisfaction call they placed to me.

    I don't know about you all, but I'd rather know upfront that an oil change is now $99.62 rather than being told that an estimated cost is "$79.95" ($20 dollars off is not necessary a close estimate its just plain misleading). My service was not great, the customer service representative who was helping me was not even paying attention, the milage in my receipt says 12,250, when my milage is over18K. When I asked about the fees, one of the representatives just said: "our prices went up earlier this year". Apparently, there are now a COVID surcharge ppe fee, electric doc shredding fees, freight, shop supplies, and waste removal fees in your oil change now. Save a few bucks and just go to Jiffy Lube, I'm not sure an oil change is worth it here anymore.

    A couple weeks ago I called at 9am on a Monday to set up an appointment for a test drive for an used car at 10am. I was then transferred over to Iustin B. who set everything up and was ready for me when I arrived at the dealer. The whole process was nice and easy, Iustin also was able to get me better rate for financing than the banks I had pre-qualified for online. Overall I'm very happy with the whole process and my purchase.
