We have been a happy client of Benetrends Financial for 12 years. Everyone who works there has been very professional, responsive, and pleasant during our interaction. William Hundemann, the teams manager is especially diligent.

Worst decision I made was trusting my business with Benetrends. Benetrends effortlessly rolled my funds over so I could get my start-up capital, but trying to terminate my retirement plan was an exercise in buffoonery. Do yourself a favor and pass on Benetrends. After having been assigned their most incompetent, Newbie analyst, I knew it was time to part ways with Benetrends. With every question, there was an extended response time and it was obvious that she had no clue as to what I was asking. It became very apparent that she was so incompetent, that she was literally asking her co-worker's for advice instead of knowing the answers to softball questions. I have yet to speak to anyone from her management. Even after asking about the business appraisal process, getting list of approved appraisers and asking for my payoff amount, she still had no clue that I wanted to terminate all business with Benetrends. When it came down to determining how much Traditional and Roth IRA funds needed top roll back, thing really got stupid. Despite having my TSP transfer letters showing the exact amounts of Traditional and Roth IRA balances, seven years of annual statements and my Form 1099's, my Benetrends "analyst" nor compliance officers could determine the correct amounts that needed to be rolled back out of my retirement plan. Not only did I have to do the math for them, I also had to educate Bentrend's compliance department on how to interpret IRS Form 1099....this back and forth discussion went all the way up to the VP of Compliance before they determined I was correct (but never admitted their error). Luckily, I had one analyst, Mike M., that actually listened. After educating the financially savvy folks at Benetrends, I avoided losing about $20k of my Roth IRA funds that Benetrends stated should be Traditional IRA funds. Something I found astonishing was all this confusion was generated over a retirement plan that was about 18 months old...imagine if my plan was 18 years old! So, had I not been assigned Benetrend's most incompetent analyst, I never would have realized how poorly trained these financial folks truly are. I'm almost completely done with Benetrends, except now I have to educate them on why I don't need to wait on them to complete my Form 5500. Till then, I will continue to educate them and let my analyst play "phone a friend" with her Benetrends co-works. In sum, if you want to jeopardize your company's finances and employee's retirement funds with some of the most incompetent people I have ever dealt with, then look no further than Benetrends. Not only are the analyst slow to respond and impossible to talk to, but they cannot read standard financial and IRS documents. Worst mistake in my young business career was to go with Benetrends. Do yourself a favor, before choosing someone to rollover your funds, have them prove that they can do a weighted average and can interpret a Form 1099. Hard pass on Benetrends.

I reached out to Larry today with no notice, and dumped my 7 year old problem on him. Not only did he take time to hear me, analyze the situation, and council me, he assured me he would be there should I have additional questions or needs. He is an expert, and I am grateful to have him in my corner.

I am beyond impressed with Larry Carnell, John Wylie, and Joshua Apkan. Throughout the Benetrends process, Larry has provided a wealth of knowledge to help get our business set up. I am still in shock that I emailed him twice over the past few weeks and he called me within 5 minutes. That is a whole new level of service that I am not used to. John and Joshua have been very thorough throughout the SBA lending process. The forms they provide, the time they take with you on the phone and through emails explaining their process, and their attention to detail have no doubt put me in a position to secure an SBA loan. Opening a business can be very daunting especially when you get into corporation setup, legal, and accounting. You will not be disappointed working with the Benetrends team.

Very nice way to open a new business. We didn't understand the process and so we had a lot of questions throughout the process. They were always good to promptly respond and never made us feel bad about needing the baby steps. Very good communication and they were always so nice pointing us in the right direction each step of the way. Would highly recommend for a newbie business owner, it was well worth the investment.

Benetrends takes all the guess work out of utilizing retirement funds both tax deferred and penalty free for use in a business period. No need to recommend anyone else to friends or colleagues!

When I approached benetrends financial I was in a dire situation. I had not submitted the proper paperwork to the IRS for the 401K PSP for the last three years. It didn't matter that in 2020 the IRS was shut down like everyone else. The IRS letter outlined many severe financial penalties waiting me unless I addressed this situation within the next 30-60 days. This was a totally unrealistic time frame for a small business with 15 employees. I called many accountants and TPA and most would not touch the case or waited a retainer in the thousands. Not benetrends financial! They reviewed my case and put together a plan to bring me back from the brink of IRS hell into compliance at a reasonable price and within the required timelines. Their compliance officer reviewed my case, we spoke extensively about my situation. He assured me I was not a lost cause, and they could bring my business (keep me out of IRS hell) back into compliance from 2018 through 2021. Lourdes Nieves, Retirement Plan Analyst, was assigned my case and she walked me through all the steps. She gave me the confidence they had this totally under control. She was fantastic. She corrected my 2018 financials and then walked me through and submitted Form 5500 for 2019 and 2020. Today, I signed the paperwork for Form 5500 for 2021 and now my business is completely in compliance. They educated me, earned my trust and I would recommend them to any small business planning to start and/or has a 401K PSP.

Benetrends is an absolute pleasure to work with. They are extremely responsive. Larry will take calls even after 10pm in the evening if you reach out the same day. The responsiveness permeates throughout the organization, as the entire team is built on quick turn around of requests. Larry has been amazing to deal with. I was not real happy with my prior plan manger who has been managing my plan in a unique situation (money in IRA, but has not funded a business because the deal fell through) and they had been of little to no assistance to me.
