Main problem : because of their "technical issues", my credit score dropped about 100 pts , from 820. Also, with a very dated website that looks like an early 2000s design, their technical glitches , their typical unwelcoming in-person interaction I experienced in their branches , I wouldn't recommend this business to anyone. Some background info: it was not my choice of a bank; they purchased the checking and credit businesses from my former bank long ago and that's how I ended up with BoA, not by choice. For those that have time to read, here is the main issue I had: In Dec 2021 I was charged the maintenance fee ($12 I believe) because the balance dropped below $1,500 so in January 2022 I decided to close my checking account I had with them. This was not my main checking account so closing it was not an issue. I had to call in, talk to two reps, wait for a few days for the balance to be transferred out, then the account was closed. With BoA, I also have a credit card (Travel Rewards) which I decided to keep. The credit card was set on autopay from a checking account of a different bank (Chase) not from BoA checking account. This worked great apparently until I closed the BoA checking. Why??? After a cumulative time of at least three hours of being transferred between many BoA reps over at least 3 attempts to find out what was the issue, eventually I learned from an IT guy that your online account profile changes between having both checking and credit and having only a credit card with them. Because of this change my autopay got disabled , my payment on credit card was late , BoA reported it as such to the credit score agencies and my score dropped. I've been in the 820 range for a very long time since I never ever missed a payment to anything let alone a measly $300 balance. Now thanks to BoA my credit score changed dramatically. Eventually the IT person was able to reset my account and I was able to re-enable the autopay, but by then, the damage was done. The only upside is that in general, the customer care reps I interacted with over the phone were polite and they were genuinely trying to help. Apparently they either didn't have the means or the necessary training.

I have been calling Gregory S. from Regulatory Complaints for three days to get more clarity around a complaint resolution that made no sense regarding my PPP loan. The outgoing message says that he will call back in 24 hours. No response yet and I have had to spend hours on hold trying to find anyone at B of A to help me. He has all the answers I supposedly need but it is impossible to reach him or anyone else. I would give this a zero if I could.

My husband opened his account almost 20 years ago and has been a loyal customer with no issues. A couple weeks ago my husband checked his account and noticed someone trying to pull his $3000 out of his savings account. He immediately got an email from the fraud department and then a call. During the call, the individual stated they were from bank of america and are trying to help him resolve the issue. They had him transfer money to a different account in hopes of "fixing the problem". Come to find out, that call was a scam and they had all his information along with his $3000 cushion. My husband reached out to Bank of America several times and was told he will not be refunded....are you kidding me?! Bank of America doesn't take care of their customers if fraud occurs? What a terrible business. My family wil never get an account with Bank of America ever again, in addition to us sharing what happened to us. Hopefully Bank of America will reach out and fix it but at this point it seems as if they don't care and he's out of luck. Thanks Bank of America for screwing us when we needed you to have our back the most.

Only Bank of America could charge a $35 fee on a one-time $5 online debit-card purchase of Skype minutes to stay in touch with my family during difficult times. I've been a client of BofA since 2013. Recently, I purchased 60 min on Skype on my BofA debit card to stay in touch with my family during difficult times. It was not a subscription but a one-time purchase. A few days later, BofA dropped my pending Skype transaction, but I didn't notice that at that time. After a few debit card purchases and ACHs, my account balance was close to zero. Then, after more than a week from the transaction, the $5 Skype purchase appeared. Bank of America charged me $35 for a $5 debit card purchase. In the case of insufficient funds, Chase, US Bank, or Wells Fargo, would have simply declined the transaction. I called BofA, and the representative said it was a recurring transaction. I said it was a single purchase and asked for a definition of a recurring transaction. The representative failed to provide me. I thought fine and asked him to point me out to the definition in the account agreement, to tell me the page number and the paragraph. He replied: "What do you want me to do? Refund you the $35? - No. You can do whatever you want, but you will not get your $35 back." At the end, he added: "I hope I provided a world-class service." Why did he ask that? He did not know the definition of a recurrent transaction or where it was in the checking account agreement. And then you will be telling us "we've got your back."

It's very difficult to get a "5" star rating from me. I wanted to tell you of the wonderful transaction tonight with "Warren" from the Bank of America credit card department. A certain creditor decided to lower mine and others' credit limits last year in a panic of possible fraud during the pandemic. It really sabotaged my plans to use one card for a few larger purchases I plan to pay off in 12 months (due to moving). THANK YOU, Warren, for approving me for 0% until June 2022!!! YOU ROCK! Bank of America has been incredible with their % offers & allowed me to become completely credit card debt free in 2019.

It’s the worst service and I am planning to move from Bank of America immediately, you wasted my time, you wasted my money and the service is very bad. BOA will not get your stolen money back unless it’s 10,000$ or more other than that they will not pay attention. If there was zero I would have given it. Thank you Bank of America for taking care of your clients.

I would like to think I am a dependable 27 year old customer with 0 debt and a good number of credit lines and limit. Considering the details they have of me they know I would have 0 issue paying the auto loan that I applied for. When I called I was told I got rejected due to the fact that I do not have a 100 year old credit history(limit credit history of 24 months apparently). They also said that to get the loan that I would need to have a co borrower which makes no sense whatsoever. Not only that they sabotaged my ability to get any car loan due to the hard credit check.

I got charged 3 different fees in one day of $35 and after calling customer service to see why I didn't get any notifications, they came back saying the email was not deliverable, even though they sent me an email today. Spoke with management and they only reversed one of the fees. I used my email account all day, for sending and receiving, used the emails and had plenty of storage on the email. This is not the first time this exact thing has happened. Never had this issue with other banks!

Definitely finding another bank. Had gotten scammed out of $1,800 and after investigating was told there was nothing I can do because BOA sent the money as instructed, which wasn’t the issue. The issue was I paid for something in which I did not receive. Which is still unresolved.really glad to see BOA not only listens to their customers, but obviously doesn’t investigate the right thing either.

This is the worst possible customer service when calling. It's virtually impossible to talk to somebody. They need agents not robots! Representatives are very helpful and the card is generally good, but it is almost impossible to talk to somebody. The message on the phone says to remove authorized user by going online but online says to call and talk to someone.

Bank of America was the first bank that I got an account at while attending college 24 years ago. My first credit card was a Bank of America Golden Key National Honor Society account. I just received an email stating that my credit card account had been closed due to inactivity. No advance notification just an abrupt closure. This certainly shows how little this organization values it's customers. It's obviously all about bottom line profits to them as they have very little concern for a customer they have earned tens of thousands of dollars on over the past 24 years.

Impossible to reach the bank associate, left multiple voice mail messages, never got any call back after one week of daily calling. I wanted to open a Bank Account, but now I will take my business elsewhere.

I have been a BofA customer since I was 16 years of age, having my first card with BofA was a great experience and I maintained that same account for many years throughout my college experience. As of recently I am afraid to report that the same experience received from my Mount Dora, FL location has not been reciprocated in the most recent months. I have spent an entire evening asking the bank to reopen a good standing account that had a 0 balance that was forcibly closed by BofA, I have been given the corporate run around of policy this and policy that. I am calling upon this institution to honor a good standing customer the right to have an account reopened. Surely the more accounts you have open the better you look to your share holders 🤷.

We have a credit card thru BOA. I paid off the balance several weeks ago. I get an email today that they are taking a $100 payment from my checking account. I went online to make sure there were no purchases I forgot about. Still $0 balance and says $0 payment due 10/7. I called in and the agent said I’d have to call back tomorrow after it posts tonight at midnight. Then request my money back, which takes 2-5 business days. Or keep a credit on my account. Then she told me to cancel my auto pay. I said if I cancel my auto pay, and use the card, I may forget to re-setup my auto pay and get a late fee. That’s the whole point of auto pay. She said I understand, but that’s what I’d have to do. I told her we have numerous other credit cards and when I pay them off, they don’t take my money still, or make me cancel my auto pays if I have a $0 balance.
