Auto Title Services of Oak Hill Reviews

The staff here are professional and have always helped me. Anyone writing a negative review seems to want a social hour. I for one just want to get my business done and I have no problem with anyone who is curt and to the point. They know what they're doing, and they do it well; if you want to socialize, go to a party or something.

I have been going here for over 20 years, and for a reason. The staff is very professional and thorough. I know they are very busy all day long and i never expect them to be real talkative. I believe some reviewers don’t understand and expect a more social atmosphere. I know dozens of people that have them do all their vehicle paperwork.

I have been using Mary and her service for many years. She is straight up. So don't expect her to break the law for you. Very fast service helpful to get you registered. She knows what the State needs and will tell you what you need. Supply her with it and your done its that easy. I've never seen her rude. I have seen her blunt about the paper work needed. I send people to her all the time. I'm always happy to see her and her dog. So be nice you'll get nice. Don't expect your a** kissed..... Thank you Mary for all the help. So if you don't like it go register it in California

This is the first negative review I have EVER written, but I've never recieved such poor treatment at a business before. We were met with rudeness the moment my husband and I walked through the door. My husband is active duty, based out of state, and we only had a small window of time in which he could get the title of our new truck transferred over to him. In the 3 minutes that we were in there, we were constantly interrupted, talked down to, and the woman we were speaking to kept refusing us service because of our insurance (which was set up a bit differently because of him being active duty, with his residence still being in Texas though he has to live and drive primarily in a different state). She kept interrupting us and refusing to allow us to explain our circumstances, before she all but chased us out. We went straight down to the nearby tax office (Southwest Travis County Tax Office), and had absolutely no issues. We were treated with respect and courtesy, and they answered all of our questions in a friendly and knowledgeable manner. We walked out with Texas plates and a title transfer in 10 minutes (that's wait time AND service.). I will never return to Auto Title Services of Oak Hill, and highly recommend that no one else wastes their time or money there. Save the convenience fee, and just go to the tax office right down the road.

Both women at the front are incredibly rude and grumpy. You can tell they are miserable at their job and should clearly be retired by now or working somewhere where they have a better disposition. I personally witnessed Mary snapping on three or four different customers while I was there. A man was walking in with a toddler and I guess the toddler was moving too slow for Mary and she barked at him to close the door. Another gentleman was talking on his cell phone and she snapped at him about being too loud. After that I tried to walk up to the other lady at the “closed” desk to simply ask if I needed cash or not and she glared at me and told me that her desk was closed and did not have the courtesy to answer a simple question. When I went over to Mary to ask her the same thing she purposely and completely ignored my question so the customer that was sitting at Mary’s desk was the one who had to tell me that they excepted cash or checks. How these horribly grumpy ladies (who don’t act like ladies at all) can continue running a business by being so unnecessarily rude and horrible to people I will never know. Being blunt and straightforward is one thing, but they completely crossed the line with their rudeness and clear agitation for every single customer I witnessed them encountering. They both need a lesson in humility and positivity.

I thought it was just me or the older lady was racist or something. I HATE going to this place to do anything but it’s literally right up the street. The older lady is very rude. I hate to admit it but I have to get my self in a zen state before even walking in. Went to get some plates transferred from an old vehicle and she didn’t tell me until the end after she threw my plates away that I’d have to wait one to two days to get plates for the other vehicle. I use to go to Frys and handle all this type of stuff and even though now it’s out the way maybe I’ll go back. The ladies there were friendly and had a good sense of humor. So many horror stories about this place. Thank God I only have a couple more things to do and I will never go back. Every experience is terrible and I ALWAYS feel rushed and unappreciated as a customer in that place. On a positive note at least after looking at the rest of the reviews she not racist just “rude” and bitter
Mr. Polo, Sorry you feel that Mary was rude. I am not sure of the circumstances of throwing away your plates. We would not have them to throw them away, Unless you gave them to us. I am very sorry that you feel Mary is rude. Sometimes when she has a room full of people she is just trying very hard to wait on people quickly so there is a shorter wait for the people in line. The reason for the 2 day wait is that we can not access your original transaction for 48 hours to change or exchange your plates. Again I am very sorry you had a bad experience here.

This worker in charge here should be retrained if not fired. If i could give this place a minus 20 review i would. The main representative at the desk does not have time to answer the phone, even when no one is in the office.at around 2:15 6/12 i told her i needed a title transfer and had the signed title. Informed i needed the inspection she said she closed at four. I came back with my inspection at 3:45. She told me No more title transfers today, looked at the clock and stated "the woman who does the titles is gone for the day." There was not one single customer in the office during this time. Stuck in traffic today I couldn't get back until 3:30. The place was full. When i tried to ask if it was too late to get a title transfer (so I wouldnt have to wait for nothing after about 10 people) she cut me off and said she would get to me when it was my turn. Then i couldnt get an answer about what form of payment is accepted. Then she announced that SHE is the person who does the titles and told those waiting she would do no more titles that day. So those who had waited for titles had to leave after waiting FOR NOTHING. She had obviously lied the day before and just did not want to stay until closing time to do one title, with all paperwork in order.

Been here twice now and will not be back. I thought maybe the first time I came in the lady was having a bad day, because of how rudely I was treated, I blew it off. After the second time, I realize she is just a rude person. Dont waste your time or energy.
Sorry about that Allie.

The older lady at the front desk is hard at hearing and flat out RUDE! She talks to you like you are stupid, and has attitude the whole time. I wish I would have never given them my business. I went back a second time to get proof pf registration because the DMV needed it and she was even more rude. I was so nice the first time with her. She is just grumpy and rude.

I have been coming to this sweet lady and her dog for decades now to transfer my titles. I have owned 25+ vehicles/trailers and she has helped me with all of them. No talk. Nothing friendly about it. Just business. In and out. She will truly be missed. Hope she opens the doors again to the public when all this dies down. 🙏

I don’t write reviews. Ever. But after my visit today I felt absolute disrespected and like I was a burden (whilst being the only customer inside) to the individuals employed at this location. Rather then treating me like a customer and obtaining some help to complete my title application and leave with plates in hand I was told that I “was all screwed up” and needed to “be quiet” while what I can assume is the owner/primary title clerk tried to sort through my documents. I was told to come back once I had what I needed and that she was not going to help me. As a professional in the customer service industry let alone a human, I was flabbergasted at the way I was treated and decided to not return. I truthfully received more help and had better service at the Travis county annex tax office. I hope for the sake of your future customers that this type of treatment and service isn’t rendered and that all employees learn the value of decency, kindness, and customer service.

It's hard to believe that this business even exists. A few years ago I needed a Will notarized and after finding out that my bank couldn't notarize Wills, went here and got it notarized with no problem. Today though, I was astounded to see such an example of poor customer service in a modern business. Stopped in to get a revised Will notarized. The two women at the two desks seemed like the most unhappy people I've ever seen in my life. The one on the right had a sign "Desk Closed. NO Questions!". Wow, how friendly is that? I understand about working in a small office, but the scattering of chairs couldn't seat all the people that came in right after us. Of course the people waiting, although customers, could be courteous and turn off their phones' ringers like I did. Sadly today so many people don't mind disturbing others with their phones ringing, loudly, in a small space. This office has absolutely NO privacy for any transaction. The gentleman before me, who was registering a vehicle, had to go out to get a check from his car. I took it upon myself (and very glad I did) to ask the woman who's desk wasn't closed, if they did notarization. I had to ask her once before she'd even look up. The third time I asked she said "yes, except for Will's. You have to get an Attorney to notarize a Will." I politely thanked her and scooted out of that miserable place as fast as I could. I do understand how difficult it can be to work in such a small office. However the slightest bit of cordiality, maybe a giving a number or even acknowledging people would go a long way to make this a more pleasant experience for ALL involved (including the very unhappy people who work there). With the way Travis County has greatly improved all of their offices, I find it hard to believe people would actually pay more to go through such an onerous experience. I'll certainly never go there again.

Honestly this place is a nightmare. As an entrepreneur it makes me want to start a competing business just to put them out of business. I know nothing about titles, etc. But if the competitive company just treated people with respect, I would have a HUGE competitive advantage. Mary Pillard is honestly one of the rudest people I have ever encountered. I do not know what I am doing in regards to an auto title (hence why I came to them as I was under the impression that they were providing a service) and Mary was unbelievably rude. Refused to let me talk, refused to answer my questions, & literally threw my paperwork back at me. She even insinuated that I was lying about who I bought the vehicle from. I would never set foot in this place. If they are that unhappy in their lives they should not be in a customer facing role. When you make the DMV look like the experts in customer service, you have reached a new low. I will gladly stand in line for hours at the DMV to not interact with these sad, lonely, mean-spirited people. I hope things get better for you Mary, maybe retire?

I'm not going to say the people leaving bad reviews don't know what they're talking about but it was never my experience. I've been coming here for 4 years to get my registration renewed and I've never once been treated the way others have described. From my own experience, I've always come prepared with all necessary documents and not only is the process painless but it's VERY fast. I'm in and out in less than 10mins usually. If i didnt know what to bring, I always called ahead and they told me. They also have a website which informs you what you need for each service. I personally have never seen either of those ladies exhibit rude behavior(that disrespect or insult a customer personally) anytime i sat in line. I have seen them be very direct and to the point (which keeps the line moving quickly) so I can understand how that can catch people off guard. But there's a difference between disrespect (calling someone an idiot) and very bluntly telling them "You came unprepared today, there's nothing I can do for you." Or "I am not going to do X for you until you go do Y". Having seen how Travis county tax office works, I am glad that there is a place where i can get my business taken care of very fast and stress free. For all the people asking "how does a place like this stay in business?" Simple. They are good at what they do. My advice to anybody reading this? Come prepared. It will help ensure you have a fast, stress free and (dare I say) friendly experience. Thank you Auto Title of Oak Hill!
Thank you so much for the kind words. We really appreciate you taking the time to review us. Thanks for coming in for four years!

I'm a woman who has been going there for years. Correct, you will not be coddled and you better have your stuff together. Reasonable rates, fast service, easy access and beats the heck out of going to the county office. Interesting that most of the negative reviews are from women. Toughen up ladies - it's just business!
Our whole family thanks you for the wonderful review. Thanks for your insight, we just loved it. Please let us know who you are the next time you come in!

A south Austin tradition this place is. My grandfather is a patron of this place and taught me to go there too. Yes, there's an element of "No Soup for You!" but this is true of the best places. It's done out of a sense to keep the lines short and keep the regulars at the front. Honestly, never had to wait more than 5 minutes in all the years I've gone here. Mary warms my heart with her level of professionalism at her job. As she types away she stares at your mouth to be sure your diction matches her data entry. It reminds me of a court reporter. I imagine she graduated from a professional school at some point learning the long lost trade and under-appreciated skill of being an exceptional typist. There's a dog afoot usually. It's a subtle reminder that this is their home. You're a guest and you'd better act accordingly. The fees are reasonable. Too reasonable. As if they hadn't been updated in decades. They don't need to change. Nothing does about this place. Long live Auto Title Services of Oak Hill. I hope Mary and crew understands how many customers, generations long, have a deep loyalty and affection, if only once a year, to this establishment.
Thank you so much for the wonderful review, after explaining to Mary what the soup Nazi was she got such a kick out of your review, Thanks a lot. We sure appreciate your business.

If you have your papers in order, you'll be in an out in no time with fast friendly service. If you waltz in there with no clue, Mary isn't going to coddle you and figure everything out for you. "You need this this and that. Come back when you have it. NEXT". I've seen this happen and people get all offended and upset over how "rude" she is. No, she just doesn't have time to listen to your useless complaining because you didn't bother to research what you need first. It's awesome. Wish more places worked like this.
