Austin Telco Federal Credit Union Bugg Ln, San Marcos

I can’t say enough about how terrible this bank is. The staff is friendly enough but when you work for a bank stuck in the 1980s it’s hard to be proud of where you work. Online banking is a joke. If you swipe your card more than once at the same place it locks for “fraud” and if it’s on a weekend then there is no one to call and unfreeze your card. So you will go without access to money. If you are anywhere outside of Austin/San Marcos then there are no atms. So there’s that added bonus of being charged to access your money. Oh and let’s not forget the incredibly long check hold times. My sister and I cashed a check for the same amount from the same place. Her bank released the funds 3 days later, this bank, still waiting..... going on 7 days now. For a check!!! Looking forward to closing this account and never doing business with them again. I’m willing to bet the positive reviews on here are from friends of people that work there.

I cannot say enough great things about this credit union. Amazing staff, outstanding rates on loans, and I have never had any problems with hidden fees (and what bank can you say that about nowadays?). They are easy to use and very professional.

Probably one of the worst credit unions around. Do you want a bank where you feel like they know you? This isn’t it. Do you want a bank that never has a working ATM? Well this is the bank for you. I especially like after banking with them for years, they still hold checks for 3-5 business days. Hell the pawn shop down the street will cash your check before your own bank will. I don’t overdraft my account and I’m employed by the government but still get checks held for days. I can’t use an ATM south of Hays County without being charged. I would recommend any bank besides this one.

Terrible business practices. They cannot make any decisions even when presented with a court order. Their excuse is that there are no "upper managment" availible. I'd caution anyone from opening an account here. Nancy Kennedy, Assistant Branch manager is very nice but even as branch manager she is not authorized to make seemingly everyday decisions. She was able to somehow "make it happen" in 30min but I feel for those who would ussualy have to wait a day or two to continue their business transaction.

Branch Manager is very friendly and super helpful.
