Being a Realtor it is sometimes hard to decide who you would recommend your buyer to use but here is why I will recommend Academy Mortgage to my clients. Jared's knowledge in the lending world and in real estate in general is impeccable. He is able to explain the process and answer questions in a way that makes it easy for a buyer to understand. He is patient and is always available.

Luke came recommended from someone that I trust. Unfortunately he seems to have taken on too much. We had conversations that weren’t documented and he couldn’t remember; he handed off work to an assistant who apparently was less than stellar (although as the customer I would have no idea whether it was Luke or the assistant doing the work); but the real issue came when, after asking VERY specific questions about how we could structure offers to make them more competitive to which he gave the answer he thought we wanted to hear instead of the complete answer, I found out that I was going to have to pay $12,000 additional dollars to close on my house. I called him on his previous answers to our questions and instead of owning the mistake and admitting he had not been as thorough in his answer as he should have been, he made excuses that no one can predict everything in real estate. Obviously this is true and no one expected him to have a crystal ball but it is his job to give fair and thorough information when a customer is making specific inquiries. He failed to do this, leaving out the crucial piece of information that and FHA loan would require a certain % of equity in relation to the appraisal. He then let my poor real estate agent stand in the gap for him making apologies and explanations while he made excuses. As a professional, when we make a mistake the right thing to do is apologize and try to make it right. While Luke did work behind the scenes to try to recoup the money what was lacking was the professional responsibility and the apology. Not once did he own his error or say he was sorry. Then, the loan docs did not get to escrow until 5 minutes to 5 on the day before closing. When an error was found in the documents, the title company reached out to Academy to have it corrected. The response was “I am already logged off. You can correct it.” Academy Connect was touted as a great free service so I scheduled with them. No call at our scheduled time. Two emails from me later they claimed that their phones were down…BUT on the day of closing someone from Connect called me as though my first appointment had never been out in the system. She had no idea from looking at her computer that I had tried to do this once before. She also had no idea I had already closed on my house. She basically wanted to sell me a security system despite me expressing my concerns about the types of systems she was describing. The way the conversation was able to be ended was by me just agreeing to let her send me information about a system I didn’t want.

I’m glad I went with the Academy team via a recommendation from Hubble Homes. Was able to save some money off my final closing costs as they covered a few grand of it. They walked me through the entire process and had my back the whole way. The team was able to move up the funding date to allow Lowe’s, Sparklight and other companies to do installations and setups on the original closing date. Definitely would recommend Academy. I thought it was neat that they have a team that helped me setup my utilities and stuff. Had a lot going on so it was nice to have someone walk me through everything I needed. Was so used to paying all that stuff in a monthly rent bill at the apartment I was at. A lot different having a house ha!
