Abbott's Coins Jewelry & Loans Woodward Ave, Birmingham

I was referred to Abbott's by a neighboring store and could not have been more pleased with my experience there. They have an amazing selection of average and high end collectible coins. Andrew provided me with wonderful access to examine coins and paper money I was considering. He and another associate (did not get his name) were both friendly and took time to show me every piece I requested a closer look at. I am in the area temporarily for work and will definitely stop back in before leaving the Detroit area.

I couldnt even give it a zero star if i wanted. Did good business the first time with andrew. But seem the manager is very unfriend i realise how slow they are now because of the attitude toward foreign and black clients. I am disgusted how they treat us and have witness a black client walk in there once and saw how they reacted to the black client! #1 most racist coin shop in michigan period!!! I am upset that i even bought valueble antique coins from them too. I am upset and regret i ever met and even helped them make money!

He offers you at spot price which is not what reasonable coin dealers do elsewhere. Fair coin dealers in the industry would give you 2 dollars above spot prices. Because we both have to pay a premium. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

I have shopped here numerous times here during the last year. I have had great service every time. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful. They are staffed so that you rarely have to wait for service. A call out for the good service from John and Norman! I highly recommend Abbotts for all coin and jewelry shopping.

These guys are amazing! I've been a customer for almost ten years and have found them to be vary honest and trustworthy! I buy and sell coins bullion and have always gotten accurate appraisals. They have a great selection of bullion. Thank you Matt and John!

Excellent experience, very helpful and knowledgeable. We went to Abbott’s because our son who is a Graduate Gemologist and International Appraiser highly recommended Abbott’s. Jonathan Abbott took the time to go through our coins and other items that we had accumulated over many years. After he reviewed everything he gave us a very fair price. Abbott’s staff lives up to their reputation of being fair and honest.

Went in to see Andrew and Ray today. Exceptional and honest service and experience. Will definitely return!

Unfortunately I had to change my review. I absolutely loved this place and would go there twice a week and spend at least 500 to a 1000 and I stopped going there completely after a rude bald man named John disrespected me and even swore at me. I kept my self contained from what I wanted to do in the moment and I quietly left. I haven't been back sense which really is sad because all the other employees are awesome individuals

Entered the store with only a general idea of the type of coin I wanted. I was greeted immediately and offered assistance. After explaining, I was given suggestions, shown a wide variety of coins and educated along the way. I am thrilled with my purchase! I'll definitely be back!

Visiting from out of town, if you’re going to go to a shop this is the one. Great customer service, a nice selection and great prices. The best shop I’ve been to in a while. Will definitely stop again before I head home.

This is one of my favorite local businesses, the staff and owner John are awesome, extremely knowledgeable and fun to do business with. In response to some of the dramatic negative reviews, I have been in there numerous times and I've never seen them rude to anyone, on the contrary are very professional and polite.

I would have given this place -10 starts if I could. My family has been going to Abbott’s for years however the last 2 years that I have been there, I’ve been yelled at, called fat, been blamed of swearing when I did no such thing. The owner told me he was going to scrap all my grandmothers jewelry and sell the gold cause I couldn’t get to the store due to 4 members of my immediate family passing away from Covid and cancer. He even mocked me in a high pitch voice saying, “that’s my grandmothers jewelry” I was mortified to say the least. Little did he know that my grandmother had raised me so this jewelry that he was going to scrap was the memories of her. She passed away a year ago today. I told him I could not wait to write a review about his customer service, which then he told me he was going to sue me. The jewelry had been there for 7 months, yet he kept yelling it had been there for a year. He also told me before they sent my jewelry over to be resizes the cost was going to be $265, then I got there today they told me the cost was $575! Please do yourselves a favor and never go to this place for anything, they try to rip you off, insult you, tell you that you are being watched by cameras, like I didn’t know that, or even cared!

Raymond was friendly and helpful. He provided an education on precious metals and answered all of my questions. Abbott's offered fair market price for my items. I would recommend them to friends.

My wife and I recently used Abbots to evaluate our inherited coin collection. No appointment is required for this service. Nonetheless, we were greeted promptly, and Ray Jenkins gave a detailed explanation of the process. Coins that were of collector value were separated from the more common coins, and then separated by silver content. Rare coins were evaluated by Andrew Pierce who discussed the more prized coins with us. We were very satisfied with the entire process! They were extremely professional and we feel that we received the highest dollar amount for the collection. We strongly recommend their service.

Based on the fact that this is the only place in town that my Father trusted and did business with for decades, I took his advice and sold some old jewelry. They were very fair and knowledgeable. I think any negative reviews are based on customers who don’t understand gold spot and that it can fluctuate daily. Would definitely drive out of my way to Abbots in the future.

I was referred to Abbott’s by 2 friends and was lucky to be waited on the first time in by John Abbott himself. Great guy like they said. Not being well versed on purchasing precious metals he took time with me and helped me make an educated decision. As busy as he is he offered to have me bring in some collector coins that my wife’s dad left her years ago even though I don’t ever plan on ever selling them unless in case of emergency. He even suggested that I never sell them even if just for the sentimental value. A real professional, proud of his family run business his dad started in 1956. We both clicked as he’s really tuned into the reasons why prices are in flux now and seems to have a real pulse on what’s happening now and what may happen in the future. Dave LeFevre
