Wolverine State Credit Union N Bagley St, Alpena

Nice little credit union. The staff is friendly and helpful. Was sad to find I still needed a bank for some of my financing, but is in a CU cooperative which allows me to bank at other CUs as though it's my own. Have to have that because their website is poorly set up, made to be difficult rather than helpful. They want to do the work not allow us to manage our account. Can't deposit checks through an app or anything. Basically, a nice Old World credit union with no current frills.

I was with them for a year and I felt like I was being taken advantage of the entire time. They’re constantly called saying “I don’t know how this could’ve happened but your accounts messed up again” . Don’t waste your time here find a better bank or credit union.

I love this Credit Union. Very friendly, and I have never had difficulty.

Do not trust Scott "Louis" North with your financials. The guy is a thief. Seek better employees with actual morals.

If I could give it zero stars I would! Horrible horrible company!

If only there were a negative rating. Opened a new account 2 years ago when the Oscoda Branch opened. Explained to them that I would rarely use the account. One year and one day after opening the account I get a notice that they froze my account and were sending it to the state unclaimed accounts unless I made a transaction within 5 days. This was in the middle of the Pandemic and the Oscoda Branch was virtually closed. I called the Alpena HQ and they handled the situation professionally. One year later, trying to keep my account active, I made a deposit into my account, the teller took my check, gave me a receipt, then asked for my DL, I told her that sounded a little sketchy and told her I didn't feel comfortable, seeing the transaction was over, she walked away, then I drove off. She then, unknown to me, froze my account. When I called to find out why my debit card was declined I was told, because someone failed to get a copy of my DL when I opened the account that I could no longer access MY money. THIS IS THE WORSE CREDIT UNION I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH ... TAKE YOUR MONEY OUT

I got my first saving/debit account through this credit union and they have always had my back. They genuinely care about their clients and will do everything they can to help them! A huge thank you to what will always be "Besser Credit Union" to me.

If you like random freezes on your account being transferred around pointlessly and not being able to spend your own money and never get someone on the phone who wants to help then this is the bank for you and don't worry the customer service is so good you'll pull all your hair out and will be saving money on haircuts in no time!

Horrible customer Service, supervisor Kelly is the reason I will be leaving this credit union
