Vantage Credit Union Reviews

No longer good for the people, the customer service has taken a serious downturn! They are now fee driven and money hungry! Greed has taken them over! I USED to love and recommend Vantage Credit Union but the customer service is horrible now. They are worse than Bank of America! They are definitely not for the people anymore, just a regular Bank with TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! They no longer care about their customers like other Credit Unions do! They have really lost sight of values

Just left an voice mail for Angie before they close and just by reading the last comment I know it's not going to go well. I just had a horrible experience with the call center today and when I ask to speak to a supervise I was transferred to the olive branch and spoke to Laurie who was also rude and refused to help. I'm closing all three of my accounts Saturday morning and I hate I refinance my Car with them three months ago even then Laurie at the Olive branch was nasty and rude and I had to go to East Saint Louis Branch just to be treated with kindness and dignity also finish my car refinance loan. As soon as I switch my direct deposit and Close my Vantage accounts with them I'm going to st. Louis community credit union to refinance my car. Vantage employees are rude if you ask me. Never again! I'm done and to think I use to brag about my credit union. My only wish now a that I could give zero stars.

Their in-person site is a mess. Their app does not function as it should. Their website is a pain. Their service is awful. After nearly 20 years, I am closing my account with them. And they could not have cared less. If you use Vantage, watch for fees. I've been charged nearly $300 within a month, and my impression is that those fees are the only thing they're interested in.
Eric- We're saddened to learn that your experience with Vantage over the past 20 years hasn't met your expectations. We do care about our members and providing excellent service in all areas whether in-person or online. Not knowing the specifics of your situation it's difficult to address your comments. We're sorry to see you go.

VERY DISSATISFIED CUSTOMER!!!!! I have been a very good customer with Vantage for more then 10 years. I have had a GOLD credit card with Vantage for that period of time with a 9% rate. Vantage contacted me the other day to let me know that my rate is now going to go to 18%. Vantage claims that they no longer fund their own credit cards and after a credit review this is my new percentage rate. My credit score has not changed. Further more I have never been late for a payment! I have talk to some friends and they are seeing the same thing with Vantage. DO NOT GET A VISA FROM VANTAGE!!!

Horrible. I wish I could give 0 stars. Ghetto phone reps. Call center is garbage and they have no respect for their customers. A Rep Latoya talked to me like I was kid and told me no I couldn't talk to her supervisor after I asked for her. Then "Angie" the supervisor expressed no empathy and tried to justify the rep. I mean come on! Whatever happened to real CUSTOMER SERVICE? She then said that she doesn't know when her supervisor could call me back...smh disgusting! I'm telling all my family and friends never to bank with them and I'm taking my mom and aunt to close their accounts on Monday...I am sooo contacting the attorney general.. closing my account....pissed😠

I have had an account with this credit union since I was 4 years old. I have always preferred to support a credit union over a bank, and even after moving to a new city with no Vantage branches or ATMs, I stayed loyal to VCU for 5 years, paying the ATM fees to take out cash and making check deposits by mail because the phone app never worked. Over the past several years, they have started charging fees at the same level as a bank, and even worse, not disclosing these fees in a reasonable way. When they started charging fees for transfers from the Overdraft LOC (suggested to me by VCU many years earlier, as a way to avoid fees), there was no notice beyond a section on the monthly statement. A significant change such as new fees for existing accounts should be sent at least as a message on the online banking portal, if not also as a letter to the address on record. The fees piled on and yet the services never matched those provided by banks: the app is atrocious; the online portal is difficult to navigate; and many basic features, such as bill pay and scheduled auto-payments, are difficult to find and navigate, and very buggy in execution. The final bullet in my relationship with VCU was when they closed my checking account, without any notice, blocking my online access to my other accounts with them, and charging me a $35 fee for the privilege of having the account closed. Apparently, a business relationship of almost 3 decades doesn't mean anything to this local credit union. TLDR; VCU screws you like a bank would, with none of the modern services provided by a bank.

I've been banking through vcu since I was 16 (12 years or so). Used to be great, but the customer service has taken a serious run downhill. And apparently now you have to pay a monthly $5 to hold an account if you don't meet arbitrary age/financial requirements (and get blown off by the phone rep when you ask about it!) I get that change happens, but I'll be looking around for a new CU to move my accounts to. VCU doesn't seem as interested in their customers as they used to be.

I've been a member for over 30 years, but I will be making other financial arrangements as soon as possible. Starting last spring, without fanfare and with minimal effort to notify, they began charging a $5 per month fee if you don't have loans and deposits of at least $3K. VCU only pays 0.050% interest on savings accounts, so I do most of my saving elsewhere and I don't have any loans. As previously stated, I will be leaving ASAP. Anxious to get my $5 membership fee back from 30 years ago, without interest of course. Note: the username shown is not my name, my real name is Richard Moore.

They are the real deal. The branch manager showed me how to work the financing to purchase my new car and I came out cheaper in my car payment and down payment. Also, they work with you if you fall behind with your payment. They are a customer's best friend when it comes to banking.
Thank you so much Jonathan for sharing this with us. We love the opportunity to serve our members. Let us know if we can assist you in the near future.

hate this bank. feels like i'm in an episode of jetsons when i go inside and have to talk to a computer screen. shortly after the new $100 bill came out, i asked for a few when she asked how i'd like my money back. she told me she had no control over how the bills came out if they were new or not because they use an ATM in the back to handle their money, not drawers. since when are banks more paranoid than a drug addict with their money? jumped through a ridiculous amount of hoops to get a car loan. 90% of their workforce gives you an attitude, and gets pissed off when they have to do their job. none of them want to be there and they project that to the customers. the silver lining of the craphole that is VCU was the lady who actually handled my car loan, who was super cool and informed and answered any question i had. she is basically the only reason i keep a penny in that god forsaken credit union.
