I absolutely love Upward Credit Union. I have been a customer for over 30 years and have to say they have helped me reach my financial goals. Want to save for a vacation? Set up a vacation account. Want to buy a car, call Kathy to get pre approved for a loan. I will never buy a car without Upward credit union. Rose has also been wonderful and helpful. I believe in supporting to people of Upward Credit Union who make me feel welcome and many feel like friends. If you aren't a member here already, what are you waiting for? I’ve been a member of Upward Credit Union for 37 years and have enjoyed their many services (car loans,mortgage,personal loan )Their professional attention is always outstanding. To be able to have a conversation with a knowledgeable Upward representative is another reason I trust banking with them. I truly would not chose to bank anywhere else because of their exceptional service. There is ,in my mind no reason to bank elsewhere .

I am extremely happy to recommend Upward, they been working close with me to improving my credit, attending my needs and also very lower interest rates. I was paying 15.9% after refinancing my car loan with upward credit union , the interest rate was reduced to 6%. I really appreciated how Kathy H. did everything to help me get my loan to refinance my auto. She made the process smooth and with no stress. Everything was pretty much wrapped up in one day.

I gave a 2 because I love the very helpful Nicolette. I applied for a personal loan after receiving an email that they were doing a 5% loan for people to build credit or catch up on bills. I've been a member there since 2018. Account in good standing.The one time I was in deficit I immediately corrected it so they know my history with them. Not perfect credit but accounts in good standing credit cards maxed due to a covid illness explained this on application because I was told to and they would look at more than just credit score and they frequently asked me to sign up for overdraft (30 dollar fee)that I NEVER used. So to help my score after my illness, I applied. I was turned down for a very low loan amount for the reasons I was told to put on application! And because of low income?? This part made me raise my eyebrow. I'm an RN in California income is not an issue My weekly income is twice the amount I asked for. I was applying yo help my score and to catch up after being ill. I applied to Navy Federal Credit Union with the same information and not nearly the longevity I have with Upward and got a 3x what I was asking?! So after being a member with numerous deposits and reading all these great reviews I can not figure out what made ME different? Despite my consistent history with them their story of we are more than credit scores lender did not hold up. But they were more than happy to sign me up for high dollar overdraft?! Just saying everyone may not get the same scale when being considered. Also they did a hard inquiry like it was a mortgage so I lost even more point. Lol

Absolutely amazing customer service! I can't say enough about the friendly, professional service received from Sue- the Senior Loan Officer. Everything was fast, seamless and all docs signed in a matter of minutes, enabling me to resolve an extremely high interest loan and refinance with Upward! I will be transferring all my conventional banking over to Upward. They are not like a typical bank in any way! Thank you so much

Good Day, My name is Joshua and I am writing this review of Upward Credit Union in Burlingame, as a completely satisfied customer!!! ***** My experience with Upward CU started over a year ago when my friend and colleague referred me to the Credit Union, which operated differently than any financial institution that I had used previously. I had the pleasure of meeting their then lead teller, Nicolette, who was incredibly friendly, yet professional, financially savvy and astute at client relations; soon we were on a first name basis. When I walk-in each month to complete my regular transaction, I look forward to, and feel more than welcome by the warmest reception from Nicolette! I have referred to her for many issues including Pop money, external bank transfers, overdraft fees and coverages, sometimes not very politely, and yet she is able to maintain a special level of professionalism that has long since been lost; however, Upward CU isn't just just warm welcomes and greetings from Nicolette, but is also a well-established community caring organization. Months after I opened my account with them I ran into some financial trouble, as life happens...One day in may 2021, as I stressed out about a large bill to pay, I remembered a promotion the Credit Union ran during the holidays. Upward CU offers personal loans to their members to help with the holidays at reasonable APR rates. I quickly called the CU and set an appointment with their loan officer, whom with no surprise was just as professional, yet friendly as the rest of the employees there. In the same professional, friendly and compassionate fashion that I grew accustomed to, the loan officer sat down with me and explained the basis of receiving a personal loan. She offered me a great APR, clarified my questions about investing personal loan money into cryptocurrency v. paying off debt, and encouraged me that although I had great credit, I had yet to build a line of credit that the personal loan offered. Thank you LORD and Upward for allowing me to secure that loan on that day! Six months have passed since that time and I still feel as home as ever walking into Upward every month for my transaction. Nothing has changed, yet they continue to treat me in the same very professional manner with quickness and kindness. I paid off my personal loan and I look forward to seeing how my credit now reflects this. The only complaint I have about the Upward CU is that. I also bought out my auto-lease in May 2021, and I wanted to finance my auto-loan through Upward CU, yet they do not offer auto loans, nor are they affiliated with the CUDL program. No hate towards SMCU, who financed the loan, but I would have much rather preferred to use Upward to show my loyalty, and gratitude for all their hard work, great service, and warm friendship. This review is my lengthy, and certainly waaaaay over due way of saying THANK YOU TO THE EMPLOYEES OF UPWARD CU! Cheers ladies!!!! I just want to say that I had such a great experience dealing with Sue from Upward Credit Union. I initially reach out to them with a request, and upon discussing my situation with Sue, she discovered how Upward can save me money on my auto loan. I ended up saving monthly on my auto loan. I will definitely recommend upward Credit Union to help you with your financial needs & goals.

Becoming apart of Upward Credit Union has been the best financial choice of my life. Not only was I able to get my car financed with them through Peninsula Family Services, they have low interest rates, nice perks, they are friendly, and they have been by far the most helpful to me during the pandemic. They don’t just treat you like a customer, they build relationships and show that they personally value you! If it weren’t for them working with me for so many months during my job furlough, my credit would be in the dumps and I would very much be in a lot more debt! I am truly grateful for them for being there for me in a time of need, and giving me plenty of time to get back on my feet! My debit card was compromised a couple days before my birthday. Not only did upward credit union notify me exactly when it happened, but Fatima went out of her way to try to help me. I was on my way home to hang out with my dad for my birthday and tried to get gas when my card was declined multiple times. I knew I had the funds so I was really confused. When I called I was transferred to Fatima. She tried to reactivate my card just so I could get enough gas to get home. She Literally spent at least 30 minutes trying to help me before I gave up. She never gave up! She kept telling me that maybe something would happen, maybe the card would work. I can’t express how much it meant to me that she cared so much about a situation that didn’t effect her in anyway. Fatima is the reason I have been with Howard for 15 years and my mom was with them for 35 years. The customer service is impeccable and unmatched.

Very friendly staff and great customer service. Fatimah and Kathy were so friendly and helped me out when I was in need if financial aid. I was extremely grateful for the opportunity of help they provided. The most thing that amazed me was my monthly payment which is extremely affordable. If someone needs some help please talk to the staff and ask for the loan which they are providing at a low interest rate. You fill out your application, sign the papers and boom!!, the money is yours. Once again thank you!!

I have had many loans over the years but I am really impressed with Upward CU’s desire to make the process smooth and that I am pleased with the loan. They even go so far as to not only match a vendors loan rates but will seal the deal by beating it! They are flexible on setting due dates and will give you a reminder call before a hard deadline if you happen to get forgetful. I have now used them for 5 loans for vehicles and have not been disappointed by service, rates, or attitude. They seem to genuinely want to help you personally unlike some other places I’ve had business with.

Susan was a joy to work with - she gave us multiple options to choose from and helped solve issues that would have been a block at any other bank!
