The Knowles Company Summit Rd, Northeast Harbor

We had a terrific experience with The Knowles Company and more specifically Nick Burnett on our way to purchasing a property in Trenton. Nick was always available and willing to go out of his way to make sure that the process was smooth and easy and personally helped with all the details from showings, through inspections to closing and beyond. He provided some sage advise during the process and is very well connected in the area which helped in navigating some challenges that inevitably arise when purchasing a new home. Nick continues to be available to help even after the sales was complete which isn't necessary but is most appreciated. I'd also like to say that we also had a great experience with Jamie O'Keefe at Knowles who we originally worked with but could not represent us on the purchase as he was the listing agent. Both Nick and Jamie are true professionals that really care about what they are doing for their clients and it really shows. I could not recommend them and The Knowles Company highly enough.

Being 'from away' and unable to travel due to Covid, we did the whole transaction remotely and I was super well served all the way through. I now own the perfect house for me in Southwest Harbor, thanks to Abigail Curless and the team at The Knowles Company. I was familiar with Mount Desert Island from vacations in my youth. I knew that I wanted to buy here, but I did not know the market or which town would be the right fit for me. After listening to what I wanted Abigail showed me a house that I quite likely would not have considered without her guidance. It is just right … size, price, location and rental potential. Her referrals to lending and inspection resources were invaluable. Almost every aspect of the funding and purchase was done with me out of state, yet the deal got done and done on time. Abigail kept me informed. She was available by phone, email or text whenever I had a question. People at the Knowles office were easy to work with and helpful as needed. Finally, I am now working with the team that handles rentals to get organized for summer rentals. I am very pleased with the experience and outcome of working with Knowles to buy a house on Mt Desert Island.

Torie Hallock is an exceptional broker. We had tried for several years to sell our property in Bar Harbor through another agency. But it was only when we switched to Torie that we were successful. She shepherded the sale to conclusion in no time! She is the perfect combination of smart, knowledgeable, and super nice.

Our family of three rented an ocean-front home in Bar Harbor (Hale Makai was its name) through The Knowles Company. The house and our week's stay in it were amazing. All of my dealings with The Knowles Company - with Kate to be specific - were outstanding. Her communications to me were clear, concise and timely. Any questions I had were answered promptly and conscientiously. It was an excellent experience in all respects.

I filled out a web form inquiring about a rental for summer 2022. Nikki Hooper replied and said she'd check with the owner re: rental dates. I checked back in, she said she hadn't heard from the owner of the property; that happens and isn't her fault. I replied with a few alternative properties we'd be interested in renting. No response. I emailed again, politely, to check-in. No response. We're still interested in renting in Acadia but, sadly, not with this agency since their communication is so poor.

Covid threw a big wrench into many plans in 2020. My wife and I had to cancel a couple of reservations - Florida and Maine. Our Florida rental agency refunded everything 100%. Understandably disappointed but fair toward us. They even held a non refundable deposit of a couple hundred dollars and held it toward our 2021 rental. We had rented prior summers through Knowles - but this year was so disappointing! They spouted off about needing to cover the overhead of their office and how hard it was for them blah, blah, blah. They kept almost $500 and refused to refund it. They must not think that anyone reads these reviews. Or that nobody cares about being treated fairly. If you think that makes sense you should rent through them. If you work hard for your money and value fairness, look for a realtor who will value your business. Nothing disparaging here. Just the facts!!!

Kate at Knowles company kept me informed and helped me pick out the perfect house for my family. Northeast Harbor is a beautiful town where we keep our boat - and she found us a house close to the harbor. My deposit check was mailed back in a very timely fashion. I had no problems with the house while there; I did not have to call and have anything repaired. I will definitely rent from this company again.

We sold our home with the help of Sue Ferrante-Collier. I honestly don't know if I have ever felt so supported in a professional relationship before. We had a lot of family medical issues while trying to sell and Sue was exceptionally helpful. When I couldn't make time to schedule things that needed to happen, she did it for me. She has excellent communication skills and is wicked attentive to details and able to adapt in any situation. Sue is kind, compassionate, intelligent, engaged, efficient, professional, and understanding. We deeply appreciate the work she did to help us sell and I would recommend her 110% to anyone looking to sell OR buy.

We greatly enjoyed out stay at Lookout Cottage. The house is well appointed and in a great location being so close the beautiful views and great fishing of Sargeant Drive. The rooms and beds were very comfortable and the kitchen was well-stocked. The easy walk or bike ride into town, the dock and the farm market was enjoyable. The view of the starts from the back yard is incredible! A few recommendations would be to replace the grill and upgrade the patio furniture. Also, if the owners could provide more detailed information at the home for when you arrive including: where to recycle, access to free pool, info about the local tennis and golf club, and any preferences for how the house be left when you depart. Thank you Knowles Company. You were very easy to work with. We look forward to returning again soon.
