The Johnny Cash Museum & Cafe Reviews
a
Little over priced for the small size of the Museum. Some good reading in there to look at and take photos of. The Patsy Cline museum above is even smaller, unless you have a heart tied a Patsy Cline I’d save my time. The cafe was ok until we found a long brown hair at the bottom of the beans… until that point we enjoyed the day. But the POP tech music was up to loud and the chicken a bit dry. The museum didn’t give a military discount but the restaurant did. The guys hat on backwards to the side that brought my food out didn’t look to happy to be there or say anything when putting the meal on the table. We love Johnny Cash, this is a one and done thing for me. The gentleman taking the tickets is the only one that should be getting paid in there. He explained a great deal to us. Just being honest.
A
This is a must for any Johnny Cash fan. LOTS to see! I wish I could have touched some of the items like his bible as everything was in a case. How wonderful it would have it been to hold the Bible belonging to one of my inspirations! But seeing it was just fine. Really great details, lots of rare items you wouldn’t expect to see, and the interactive features were neat. You could watch live performances, and more. Learned a lot about the Man In Black. The guy who took our ticket was a cool dude, genuinely friendly. It’s a small museum, got a little cramped at times but the content made up for it completely! Will go back to learn more about the Man in Black!
Thank you for this glowing review, Addie! We are so glad you enjoyed your experience.
C
Wife and I visited here and never went inside the actual museum part. But there were some photo opportunities in the front of the building so here are a few. There was a small coffee shop there and the wife and I got a couple of chai teas that were surprisingly very good.
Thanks for stopping by, Carey!
S
We love Johnny Cash! The museum did not disappoint periodisappoint. If you like Johnny Cash at all, It is a must see if you are in Nashville!
Hi Shawn, we appreciate your kind feedback and recommendation!
T
It’s quite expensive to enter in. I have always been a huge fan of johnny cash so I loved this so much. Only reason why this did not get 5 stars they have to organize the placement of people and number of people going into the museum. We were packed like sardines which I thought was pretty bad, it did not make the first part of the tour enjoyable. But later on through the museum it was great. Overall I had a great time. Just wish better organize of the crowd being let it. Should be a cap for those paying $25 a ticket to enjoy without being pushed in.
M
The museum was in walking distance from our hotel, so we made sure to visit. I’m not a big fan of Johnny Cash’s music but I loved the movie and find his life interesting. The museum was very well done. Lots of his stage outfits are on display as well as photographs, gold records, awards, and memorabilia. Where else are you going to see a real Grammy award close up? The place is a real time capsule of music history.
S
Nice place to visit but smallish and crowded at peak hours. A must see for any Johnny Cash fan. Some nice souvenirs available at relatively reasonable prices. Cups, plates, hats and shirts are just a few of the items available.
Thanks for your feedback, Steve!
R
Not just for Johnny Cash fans. This museum does focus on Cash but tells the story of many other legends of country music who changed the way we understand and enjoy music today. Plan on spending at least an hour or two here to take everything in. There are certainly many iconic items on display and you get a better understanding of Johnny Cash the man. Discount tickets can be had at several websites and booking companies. I would recommend a quick web search as to paying full price at the door.
D
Came in last minute, but was still able to be taken care of. Nice atmosphere for sure with the live music and Johnny Cash memorabilia throughout the Cafe. Our chicken came out a little raw but I think it was because it was last minute, other than that, nice spot to check out.
G
Very cool museum! Not a huge museum but it took us about an hour to go through. We felt it was worth the cost. Very cool exhibits
We appreciate your recommendation, Grant!
K
The museum was fantastic but I wanted to give credit to the barista at the cafe who recommended an iced white chocolate latte which was amazing. Overall a really good stop.
Thanks for your kind feedback! We will be sure to pass this along to our team.
M
This is off to the side of the strip, so can be enjoyed without fully immersing yourself in the downtown party scene! This museum has many personal artifacts, love letters, hand written lyrics, calendars and it is very well laid out with different experiences...multiple film rooms and even a station to work a sound board, loved it all!
I
There's a lot to see here. The venue is not that big but it takes you about 45 mins to an hr to finish admiring everything.
Thanks for joining us!
G
Soooo cool! There are a few videos to watch and lots of reading. My favorite spot was where they showed how many artists have recorded Because Your Mine I walk the line. Like several 100.... even Snoop Dogg!!!! So you can put the head phones on and listen to it! There is a place set up inside that you can take your photo with Johnny and have it printed for $20.00. Gift shop is awesome really weird there were no sweatshirts. Highly recommended museum....coffee shop also in museum.
Thanks for taking the time to share your experience! We appreciate your feedback.
R
Best unexpected features: 1) getting to listen to the same song across all the different media formats (from reel to reel all the way through mp3) & 2) getting to listen to Leonard Nimoy's cover of I Walk the Line - lots more available & 3) Johnny's unique art pieces Most interesting of things one would anticipate: 1) handwritten expressions of love between Johnny & June & 2) the beautiful wall of album covers & 3) costumes & 4) out-takes of a photo shoot
We are so glad that you enjoyed your time with us! We appreciate your positive feedback.
R
Worth the time to see. I enjoyed it very much so. Though one the hosts a male host was quite rude about saying we had to take the exit door out when it was in fact locked we tried to open it so did others eventually he unlocked it didn't apologize but hey not blaming anyone but this one employee for this behavior over all everyone else was delightful. The tour was great.
Thanks for your feedback, Reba!
M
It was crazy busy, amazing story. I give it 4 stars because I feel like it was unsafe, over crowded and with Covid??? And it is pricey... but it had great original artifacts.
J
It's unfortunate that the legacy of such a big man is trapped in such a small space. Very small. Even smaller gift shop. Worth going tonif you're in the area and like Johnny Cash.
K
Great bartender. Ordered the sampler plate and all the meat was cold (not room temp, cold), beans were warm. Good atmosphere and location!
Hi Keith, thanks for joining us next door at Johnny Cash's Bar & BBQ! We apologize that some of your meal was cold and we will be sure to pass your feedback along.
B
Nice little museum. $27 per person, self guided. Lots to see
R
Fantastic experience! They have everything from his childhood marbles, family piano, military uniforms, and much more! Really enjoyed myself here. If you're a fan and find yourself in Nashville it's an absolute must.
T
I'm a life long Johnny Cash fan, so they were shocked when they found out that this was my very first trip to the museum!!. I thought it was Great!!. I loved it!!. I learned a lot about the early life about him and they had a lot of personal belongings and career memorabilia. It was a Great museum and I will visit there again!!. It is a must see for Nashville!.
Thank you for your recommendation, Tony! We look forward to welcoming you back in the future.
M
Really takes you back in time, loved to hear his music in different formats.
Thanks for visiting us!
D
Four stars for content, three stars on neighborhood and interior layout. Well worth seeing especially if you have some idea of Johnny Cash's influence on the music industry. When you think you've seen all the displays the exit and path out is not well marked. Actually hard describe but one little exit sign like the other fire exits. Best price is buying the Music City multi venue pass at Visitor's Center in the convention center.
Thank you for sharing your feedback, David!
G
Decent way to spend 30-60 minutes. Its a little expensive (almost $50 for 2 people), but it is a very well kept museum; I didnt know much about Johnny Cash, only that he was a country singer. But this museum shows who he was in American culture over the last few decades. They have guitars and records and stuff like that of course, but they also have old letters he wrote, movie scripts with his notes in them, letters from record companies, music sheets with his notes etc. So it is cool to learn about him but also to see some artifacts from the 60s and on.
A
If you're a Johnny Cash fan then I highly recommend the tour. A lot of cool memorabilia and great history.
Thank you for your recommendation!
J
Great Great museum for a great ledgend. If you are a fan you must see this place. It is like walking back in time and watching Johnny Cash grow up and seeing all the great times he had and all the struggles. I suggest you stop in and take the tour you may learn something about this great person that you did not before
Thank you for your kind recommendation, Josh!
J
Only gave it 4 stars it's a little pricey and the prices were different online than when you got to the shop. You can definitely get crowded and cramped at times the medium-size place there is a gift shop
J
The museum was FANTASTIC! Great information and memorabilia. Learned a great deal about Johnny Cash. Lots of his music to listen to. So much to see and hard to decide what to skip or omit should one be time limited. The only aspect that was a bit disappointing was the limited items in the gift shop and the price charged for the items they have.
C
The Johnny Cash Museum is definitely a must see if you are a fun and honestly even if you aren't its full of great memorabilia and items from his life The only thing I would say is tickets should be a little less expensive considering the prices in the store maybe they have online discounts we just walked in while hanging out in Nashville. Cool place
j
A cool museum. Somewhat over priced if you’re not a die hard Johnny Cash fan and just have to go. The same price as the country music hall of fame but a lot less to see. Still very cool and interesting. These museums should work together and give family discounts when you go to multiple museums.
A
The museum was a bit crowded but had a lot of neat things to see. We ate at the restaurant too, food was OK. The catfish was excellent but the BBQ sampler was that good. But the band/live music was the best.
Hi Andrew, thank you for joining us and for your feedback!
T
Good music and atmosphere. The food was good too. Can’t go wrong with this location.
Thank you for your recommendation!
N
Good old Johnny Cash vibe. Simple menu and Nashville spicy chicken. Live music. All the good recipe for southern feel, in Nashville. We were in and out quick and no wait on an Easter Sunday afternoon. First chicken was not cooked well and after we showed some pink blood we were provided with 2 more pieces. Some holeless enjoyed the rest we have. Hope his stomach is not burning like ours. Lol.
Thank you for joining us next door at Johnny Cash's Bar & BBQ. We appreciate your feedback and we will be sure to pass this along to our management team. If you would like to provide more details on your experience, please email [email protected].
S
Great museum. The artifacts are very cool. Make sure that you know that if you buy museum tickets for the Man In Black, make sure that if you want to see Patsy Cline museum is upstairs and that is a separate cost. I didn't know that when I purchased.
Thanks for your feedback and for visiting us!
R
Worth a visit if your a Cash fan for sure. Alot of memorabilia, excellent timeline and life details. Many short videos, two longer mini theaters. Best price deal is to purchase the Nashville Total Access pass good for all the key attractions. You pick which ones to use the pass for. It will save you $ for sure. Go to visitors center first day you are there. Located inside the front of convention center at 5th & Broadway.
Thanks for joining us, Roxanne!
T
If you are a Cash fan this is absolutely worth going to see while you are navigating Broadway Street
Thank you, Tim!
B
Very deceiving marketing. Exterior says Johnny Cash and Patsy Cline Museum. You go in, stand in line only to find out it is 2 separate businesses and they want to charge you twice if you want to go to both. Even the single museum ticket is very overpriced for what the museum is.
M
Mesume was amazing. You learn so much about Johnny Cash here. It is a self guided tour so you can spend a lot of time here reading all the little pieces of his history. This is a must visit.
We appreciate your recommendation!
C
Learned a great deal about the man and his music/family. Highly recommend!
Thanks for your kind feedback!
N
Johnny Cash inspired a lot of musicians across all types of genre. Country, rock, hip-hop etc. This place seemed more like a tourist trap than a place to honor a great man and inspiration that he was.
R
Great museum in Nashville. Interesting exhibits and look into the life of Johnny Cash. Only wish there was more of it. We did the museum in under an hour, including visiting the gift shop.
C
I've been in Nashville for a little over a month, this was my first time at the Johnny Cash museum. And yes it was worth it. It cost 20$ to check it out. But its totally worth it.
Thanks for joining us! We are glad you enjoyed your experience.
M
If you like Johnny this is a must see. Great stories and memorabilia to see.
Hi Mike, thanks for the recommendation!
J
This is the best Museum in Nashville TN. We are not hard core Jonny Cash fans, but this is the best Museum in all of Nashville. A real must see. Don't visit Nashville and not see this. J.L.
Thank you for this glowing review!
b
Awesome memorabilia and cool personal stuff. No time limit on visit inside museum. Great tribute for the man in black
Thanks for your kind feedback, Brian!
S
I was so happy we went here. Please take your time and read all the material. Johnny was cooler than most and deserves it. Don't rush through.
Thanks for visiting us, Sal!
g
Felt like someone had copied and pasted the Wikipedia entry and added some photos and a couple of videos. Packed and not much space. Glen Campbell museum much much better experience. Too expensive.
J
The devotion put into making this museum comprehensive and informative is astounding. While when we went it was very busy, you never had to wait long to interact with the portions of the exhibits that had head phones. Some of the artifacts are incredible. The area dedicated to the his rendition of Hurt was incredible. There are many facts that I didn't know beforehand and aren't really shown anywhere else. If you're a fan at all of Johnny Cash, it's worth going.
N
This is a lovely curated museum of the live and music of Johnny Cash. The spaces are quite intimate and focus on various stages of Johnny’s life and career. If you live for his music or even if you’re a casual fan, it’s worth the visit. The located is just off Broadway in downtown Nashville and expect to spend around 2 hours here. There is a gift shop onsite that has some really good items.
That's high praise! We are so glad you enjoyed your visit.
A
Bought tickets in advance. We enjoyed that they only allowed so many in at a time. Less people allowed for enjoying every nook and crannie. I loved the hand written letters!! The whole exhibit reminded me of all the ways I really was raised with Johnny Cash from music to movies and tv appearances. It is a wonderful tribute to his life and times.
Thank you for joining us! We appreciate your positive feedback.
G
The entrance was $20 for seniors. I thought it was reasonable for the size of the place and how completely they cover Cash's life. There were videos, gold records, his outfits and jewelry, awards, and much more.
A
As a younger person (25) who grew up listening to Johnny Cash, this Museum is a great place to go back in time and experience John's life step by step. There are many great artifacts here, and a great chronicle of his life. Even if you think you know all there is to know about John, you will learn something here that you never knew before. There are larger displays for specific big moments and stories related to John. I was honestly surprised by how popular and busy this museum was, even with a younger group, and during the COVID-19 pandemic. There is a nice gift shop, and the coffee cafe seemed busy the whole time we were there. The only thing I would change is to combine the Patsy Cline museum upstairs with your ticket for the Cash museum. After paying ~$20 each for John, it is hard to shell out more money for Patsy, on top of gift shop purchases. Still worth it for any lover of Johnnny Cash's music.
s
I really enjoyed this place. I'm a fan of Johnny Cash. He was a legend in the music business and his style of music was incredibly influential. I liked the layout of the museum, it had lots of artefacts from Johnny's life and even from his wonderful wife, June. There was lots of opportunities to enjoy watching videos of different songs and even musical renditions by various artists like Leonard Nimoy!! 😃 I loved this museum. It's small but really good.
M
IF you are a Johnny Cash fan, this is a MUST GO TO while in Nashville. One block off Broadway, sits a museum filled with Music, History & Memories of one of Country Music's Greatest Legends, The Man in Black! Great retail shopping to take with you too!
Hi Madison, thank you for sharing your experience! We appreciate your recommendation.
T
I always loved the music of The Man in Black. Excellent museum dedicated to Johnny Cash and his music.
Hi Tom, thank you for your compliment!
C
An endearing must-see collection of all things Man in Black. Whether you're a fan or not, this museum is insanely fascinating and quite relevant to Nashville's music history.
That's high praise! Thanks for visiting us Camden.
S
I'm one of many reviews, but still felt the need to say my piece. I loved the Johnny Cash museum. It was the one plan I had set in stone for our trip to Nashville. I learned a lot more about The Man in Black than before and it even triggered me to look up more later that night once we went back to where we were staying. It is set up really well; however, my one-single tip is to go right when it opens. It started getting busy about 30/40 minutes in to our experience. Definitely worth checking out!
G
Worth it to learn about his incredible life. Lots of history and memorabilia. We spend about an hour here watching films and wandering looking at everything. They have a little gift shop when you are done.
B
The museum is like the man, humble on the outside and full of memories and accomplishments on the inside. Learned so much more about this icon in the hour- plus we spent here. Seeing the fruits of Johhny's faith in Christ was the best part. Highly recommended.
Hi Brian, thank you for this glowing review! We are so glad you enjoyed your experience with us and we hope to welcome you back again in the future.
S
If you're a fan of Johnny Cash or music in general, this is a great experience. The museum offers lots of great displays and artifacts from Johnny Cash's life. The ONLY reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because the museum is kind of small and can get pretty crowded.
c
Awesome place. Ton of different memorabilia. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Very cool and informative displays awesome recording
Hi Chris, thank you for this glowing review!
B
Do not forget to get your picture with Johnny Cash.
Thanks for joining us!
A
This is a do not miss for Johnny Cash fans. The museum is very well done and has alot of memorabilia and chronicles J R Cash's life. It includes his movies, music, costumes, album, gold records, and guitars among other things. My wife is a big fan and she loved it.
T
If you're staying downtown, take the time to learn about the man in black. It's worth it 🤠
Hi Tory, thank you for your recommendation!
M
Such an awesome museum! Learned about a lot of things I didn't know about Johnny. Lots of fascinating artifacts and handwritten notes. I loved seeing all the outfits. Cool little videos you can sit down and watch. Very well done.
r
So glad I got to visit, amazing exhibits
We appreciate your compliment!
M
I didn't have time to experience the museum portion of this, only the cafe. Throughout, the staff were courteous and helpful. The breakfast bagel was delicious and at a fair price. The experience included, of course, noon stop Johnny Cash music from the time you open the door until you walk back out... Nothing tops that!
N
Not a fan but went bc my friend wanted to go. It's very informative. It doesn't take long to get through it
Thank you for your positive feedback!
M
I love Johnny Cash music and enjoyed learning about the history of his life. I felt it was quite expensive for what it was. More than $50 for 2 to be packed like sardines in such a small place. Also an incredible amount to read so if you are there for the full learning experience, you'll need several hours. The shirts in the gift shop have some cool prints, but I'll buy them online and pray I can find a quality that won't shrink and shrivel on the first wash
Hi Matt, thanks for your feedback! If you have any problems with your merchandise, please reach out to [email protected] and she will be able to further assist you.
E
Small but very cool, i love the video highlights and learning more then what i already knew about Johnny Cash.
Thank you for joining us! We appreciate your feedback.
M
Really fascinating place! Loved the actual museum, it was incredible, filled with so much more than I even expected. You could spend hours in there and still not see every item or read every amazing story. I give 4 stars out of 5 because the gift shop is VERY expensive to buy nearly anything, like one small book is around 35 dollars, shirts are around 40, etc. Overpriced in my poor person opinion, and I don't think Johnny would've liked that only people with at least 50 bucks in their pocket (because don't forget TN taxes!) are the only ones who can leave the shop with something from the store other than a plastic guitar pick. Idk, I guess I'm just disappointed I couldn't really afford anything nice to remember it by, because the museum itself was incredible.
K
Was very, very nice. So much to see. I was very impressed with this museum. I was disappointed by how many people were there because you couldn't see some parts of Johnny Cash.
J
Cool Museum with some unique areas. If you're a Johnny Cash fan like I am then I definitely recommend checking this place out. A little pricey for the size of the museum but worth it if you're actually a fan.
D
I'm a big fan of Johnny Cash and not so much Elvis, but the Memphis Elvis House Tour is great and virtually guided. And here is just a read - there is a LOT of reading - and watch museum. Still excited to be there, but disappointed after Memphis.
D
I really wanted to like this museum. Honestly if they could limit the amount of people going in at once it would be more enjoyable.
M
The museum does a great job of cataloging his life and they showcase some really great memorabilia as well as showing you all the movies he was in and especially how they displayed Ragged Old Flag. It’s def. a MIST SEE when in Nashville.
F
Best tour ever. So many personal belonging nos of Johnny and June. Tour IMHO is worth more than $20. Must see for JOHNNY CASH fans.
P
Just loved it!! Done so tastefully... so interesting, fine and special
Thank you for your glowing review, Penny!
S
The Johnny Cash museum is un-freaking believable if you love Johnny! I'm not a huge country music fan, but I love Cash! The museum has all kinds of cool memorabilia!
Thank you for this glowing review!
G
If you love Johnny Cash then this is definitely the place to visit. Beautiful stories lots of memories as a child watching him on tv. Very sad in the end but it’s a must see.
We appreciate your recommendation!
K
I have really enjoyed my time at The Johnny Cash museum and Cafe, spent sometime at the caffe also because it was raining, and it was really cozy, kind service, and i had a really nice experience dedicated to this great past musician!! Highly reccomended
S
It's a small museum but it has a nice flow. There are lots of items to check out! It's very reflective, so picture taking is a challenge. The music is great 😉 There were a few items from Roy Orbinson and Jerry Lee Lewis too! It was so much fun, we'll do it again!
We look forward to welcoming you back, Sheryl!
T
I had a great experience here. I share a birthday with Johnny Cash so I made sure to go on my birthday. There was no wait to get in. It is self-guided and they give you a brochure before you go in that has a guide in it. There's lots of really cool artifacts in there from Johnny Cash. I learned a lot more about him than I knew before. We were in here for maybe an hour.
Thanks for joining us on your birthday, Tiffany! We are so glad you enjoyed your experience.
R
No the trip to Nashville would be complete without experiencing this. I could have easily have spent a few hours. The restaurant and bar looked absolutely amazing and had some good live music playing when I was in there, unfortunately I was out of time and had to leave because I was on business trip. I'm definitely glad that I took the moment to go in there and pay my respects to the King of country .
P
I can honestly say I wasn’t sure what I was expecting from this museum, but it so exceeded any expectations I might have had! This was a beautiful tribute to the Man in Black, and had so many neat artifacts! I got emotional several times walking through the exhibits. If you have more time than I did, they also have a Patsy Cline museum on the floor above this one! I’m hoping to check it out next time I’m in Nashville!
Thank you for this glowing review! We are so glad you enjoyed your experience.
D
Just fantastic! We loved every bit of it but one of my favorite parts was the little room with a screen where they walked thru Jonnys film and TV appearances. So cool!!
We are so glad you enjoyed it, Dan!
L
Some great artifacts. But the place is soulless and sterile. Overpriced at $26.00 with miserable staff. Sun Studio is way better, full of soul and joy, staffed by fans who love the place and love their fellow fans.
M
Great little museum celebrating the life of a great man. The museum is not that big so it's not overwhelming to walk around. There are restrooms in the museum. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about Johnny and his family. Toward the end there is a very touching tribute display to him.
t
Interesting stories and memorabilia on display. Great chance for fun photographs. Just felt the tickets were a little expensive.
M
Spent over two hours and could have easily spent five. Loved the video clips, nicely put together. The museum has more information than I imagined.
Thanks for joining us, Matthew! We appreciate your positive feedback.
T
Its small but very interesting. Giving it a 4 because masks were optional and it is too small in there for the unmasked hackers and coughers. I discovered something that I never knew about him and they left it out of the movie and it doesnt appear to be something they make known in the museum but you may notice in my photos below and if you google it you find that it is confirmed. It was a great experience. If you are military the bundle deal may not be the best option.
B
This was a cool museum. It was neat to see so much of his life all in one place. Not sure if it was really worth the $23 a ticket to get in, but still a nice place.
B
The museum contains artifacts and mementos which show the close association the curators have with the Cash family. There are amazingly personal and meaningful items. It’s all presented in a very respectful and yet honest manner. In addition, the staff- Michelle in particular- are polite, helpful, and very responsive to your needs and questions. I was very moved by the experience. Thank you!
J
Loved every inch of this place! All of the interesting facts and memorabilia really takes you back! A definite must see!! They were also Practicing covid safety protocols! Felt very safe
Thank you for your recommendation, Jason!
C
I love Johnny Cash. The museum is not large. Lots of reading and listening to music. Fairly interactive. Good displays and thorough history capturing his personality. The food was good and classic country. The restaurant is small so it might be good for larger groups to get go during midday. Best for smaller groups but you can order meals at the bar.
J
Nice small museum which is well maintained with good content. Gives you a good view into Johnny Cash ‘s life. I liked him before this visit and respect him even more after it. You need about an hour to an hour and a half or so to tour it depending on how much you want to read or listen to on the headsets they offer.
Thank you for visiting us! We appreciate your feedback.
W
cool museum with tons of memorable from the man in black. cafe is more of a coffee shop
Thanks for visiting!
C
The Johnny Cash Museum is a must see when in Nashville. A friendly staff is ready to answer any questions you may have. Lots of informative displays and videos!
Thanks for your kind feedback!
S
A little crowded, but enjoyed it much more than the Country Music Hall of Fame. It gave a full picture of Johnny's life and career
Thanks for your feedback!
K
We like Johnny Cash and it was hot outside. So win win. Very interesting. Part of the wall from his home was there, a black suit, love letters to June. So much. Glad we went
A
Absolute must for any Johnny Cash fan. Lots of great exhibits and items from a remarkable American's life journey. Also has a focus on the early Sun Records successes. The video of Hurt at the end is an emotional ending to a great tour.
Hi Adam, thank you for joining us and for sharing your experience! We hope to welcome you back again in the future.
R
Visited on a Monday around 1100 local. Nice museum focused on the life of Johnny Cash. Initial entrance is crowed because of printed material folks want to read before proceeding into main areas. After passing through this bottle neck, the rest of the displays are nicely laid out. Highly recommended.
Hi Rob, thank you for sharing your experience! We are glad you enjoyed your visit.
C
Neat museum with a bunch of johnny cash memorabilia, including clothes, records, documents, etc. Little overpriced for what it is, but this IS Nashville. 🙂
G
It was really nice the food was really good and it had a nice atmosphere. The band was pretty good. The ribs were great and they had some of the best fries I have ever had. There's a reason why this place is packed to the brim. Definitely worth the visit. My only complaint would be the Mac and cheese isn't that great.
Thanks for joining us next door at Johnny Cash's Bar & BBQ! We appreciate your feedback.
W
A fun place with a history of his life and career. Memorabilia short videos and a self guided tour. Parking next door and ready access. A little crowded, and the staff was not overly friendly, but worth the visit. If you found this review helpful click like below.
A
We are a fan of Johnny Cash so we loved the ambiance, mood, southern food and the music. I want to bring my kids here now, they would enjoy it!
M
Very happy with this place. A lot of good information on Johnny Cash. Would come back.
We are so glad to hear it! We hope to welcome you back again in the future, Mark.
j
So much to learn about the man in black. Great achievements he has done
Hi John, thanks for your positive feedback!
D
I honestly did not expect much from the museum considering I had just left the Country Music Hall of Fame but I had to stop because it is Johnny Cash after all. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The moment I walked in I was greeted by a friendly staff and able to purchase my ticket immediately. Every bit of the museum tour was well worth the low price of admission. Some of the collection and Artefact on display were breathtaking the interactive portions of the museum were fun. Even though I have already went through I would definitely go back and take friends again.
Thank you for taking the time to share your positive experience! We appreciate your recommendation and we hope to welcome you back again in the future.
R
Very nice. I learned a lot. Amazing!!
Thanks for joining us!
C
Very cool and I learned a lot about his life we did know
We are so glad you enjoyed your experience!
J
We didn't eat here but the museum was amazing. Worth the $25. Will definitely revisit when in the area again. The gift shop had a good selection and the employees were nice & helpful. I was bummed the green screen photo area was closed, but more reason to revisit someday!
Hi Jesika, we appreciate your kind feedback and we hope to welcome you back for the photo green screen experience!

I love everything Johnny Cash and this place delivers! It is really a well organized museum with the right amount of nostalgia and relevant insights into this incredibly interesting and talented man. It is a must visit for anyone who wants to connect with this legend. I also want to mention that the gift shop has a great selection of items to choose from as well. This was my second trip to Nashville and my second stop at this wonderful museum! I will also check it out again on my next visit!
Hi Paul, thank you so much for sharing your experience! We look forward to welcoming you back in the future.

Great museum. If you are a fan of JR CASH you’ll enjoy this place. It was very interesting and educational about his life. I am a fan but realized I didn’t know much about him until I toured this museum. It was worth the price for me. They have some great artifacts.
D
Very informative I learned some things I did not know . Very well done and a lot to take in
Thanks for your positive feedback!

Good museum. Lost to see and great history of Cash and his rise to fame. Numerous items from his life and childhood. TERRIBLE customer service. As we were about to check out our purchases from the gift shop, our 7 year old opened a harmonica. Knowing not to put his mouth on it, he blew at it. As I gathered our merchandise from my wife to buy- the VERY young and absolutely miserable employee behind the counter (with voice raise) “sir, you have to buy each of those that he touched”. I told him I wasn’t interested int buying them and he snapped back, “then I’m going to add them to your order - there’s a sign not to touch”. Maybe then don’t put them in hands reach of children? Who don’t yet read? After a few words, regarding how he addressed the situation by raising his voice - I put our stuff down- And was walking out, where I was stopped by security. To explain again - how I was wrong and how my kid should have read the sign. Creating a scene in the whole store. Making my seven year old who does not read yet- cry. Totally embarrassed and absolute mockery of customer service. If you’re going to hire young kids to cashier stuff, maybe invest in their training so they know to approach adults. How to talk to people. How to not make kids feel like the destroyed something. Will never visit again- shame. That this will do absolutely nothing lol.

The museum entailed a lot more reading than anything else, but it was awesome to read and learn about Johnny Cash and his life! They carry everything from his handwritten song lyrics to his prison jumpsuit! Photos are allowed with no flash, and the Sun Record Company Diner next door had amazing food and service! :)
B
Unbelievable! Having been a fan since childhood, I found the museum a great experience! I witnessed many things I knew and learned many things that I did not know about Johnny. Certainly worth the time!
Hi Bob, thank you for your recommendation! We are so glad you enjoyed your experience.
H
ABSOLUTE MUST FOR ANY CASH FAN! This was one of the highlights of our trip and I truly loved the experience! BEWARE SP+ parking next door! So over priced! $20 for 2 hours...
We're so glad you enjoyed your visit to the Museum! The Johnny Cash Museum does not own or provide any downtown parking, but you can find other options in our area by visiting www.parkwhiz.com/johnny-cash-museum-parking/ Thank you!
P
Rating this so low because of the most overpriced gift shop I've ever experienced. A couple of examples are $3 per postcard and $25 for the same harmonica that was at the Grand Ole Opry gift shop for $10. I usually spend $200-400 in a gift shop at an attraction like this but I don't like being gouged so I only bought a coffee cup to take home to my Mom, who loves Johnny.
S
Great museum dedicated to the late great Johnny Cash. All the exhibits featured genuine articles, from clothings to awards and albums. Price was a bit steep, but I’d say it was worth it to see at least once.
Thank you for joining us Sarah!
S
What a cool place to learn more about a country music legend. Very nice staff and great setup. Nice gift shop and good prices for this type of venue.
Thank you for your compliments!
K
Loved this museum! There more here than you think!
Thanks for your positive feedback, Karen!

Amazing quality of artifacts! Great for historical buffs and musical aficionados!
Thanks for this glowing review!
J
A must see if you are a Johnny fan. Lots to see and learn about jc.
We appreciate your recommendation, Jay!

Made me love Johnny Cash more. Love the exhibits! If you like Johnny then this place is worth every penny to visit. We took about 2 hours going through the museum. I loved the area where you could hear other artists remake his songs. Not as great as his but still pretty good.
j
The museum was very interesting. They had a lot of authentic memorabilia on display ranging from guitars, outfits, hand-written letters, and much more. The gift shop was well-stocked and reasonably priced. The only complaint would be that it was a bit cramped-wish they had more space.
J
This is a thorough collection of memorabilia and information about "The Man In Black" who became a music legend and top-selling recording artist. If you're visiting Nashville it's a must-see destination even if you don't know much about Johnny Cash going in or if you think you know everything. The museum is located right in the heart of the strip on Third Avenue South. There are no tour guides, but a separate viewing room lets people watch on a projection screen an abundance of biographical footage of Cash, as well as many of his appearances singing live on stage throughout his career. The souvenir room in the museum entrance has a large variety of take home merchandise. For an extra twenty dollars, visitors can go upstairs to see the Patsy Cline exhibit. *Note: photos contributed and posted with this review have been removed, either by GM, a proprietor or someone on their behalf, a bot or a hacker. We are Johnny Cash fans. I did not believe this exhibit was as personal about the life and times of a legend like Johnny. If felt more like the unapproved biography than the real thing. In fairness there are some amazing artifacts: Did you know Johnny Cash was proficient in Morse Code? Or that he was an accomplished radio operator in the Military? There are films, songs and some clothing in this small, crowded museum. I stress "small." It is difficult to see a lot of the exhibition because you have to wait or move on. I feel for the entrance fee, the museum could restrict by amount of people per hour, to allow for a more free flowing experience. You and I know that will not happen. So expect crowds and try if you can to learn something you did not already know about Mr. Cash. In particular I was interested in his early life, what ever happened to his children, ex wife and then June Carter? More personal stories and artifacts would have been something of interest.
S
My family really enjoyed the museum. Lots of interactive music listening and choices. Really interesting. A little warm inside.
Thanks for joining us and sharing your experience Sarah!
M
Would give 10 stars if possible. Wow, wow and wow. So many artifacts of historical significance. All eras of Johnny's career are covered. Personal items, musical memories, photos, documents, records. On and on. Awesome gift shop and not too terribly overpriced....very reasonable considering they could gouge you. Amazing place!
J
We were visiting Nashville on vacation and we absolutely loved this museum! They have a really large collection of memorabilia. We learned a lot about his life that we never knew.
Hi Jenene, we are so glad you enjoyed your visit! Thank you for the compliments.
A
Very cool place. A wonderful tribute to a music icon. Lots of memorabilia and music. We easily spent two hours looking around and didn't even realize it. Educational too. I really enjoyed the handwritten letters and the focus on the positive side of Cash's life for a change. Good food in the cafe was a bonus :) Worth the visit for sure.
C
Fun museum if you're a fan of the Man in Black. It's very cramped to start but opens up. Be sure to take your time and look at everything. Once you leave, you can go back in without paying for another ticket. I didn't try the cage next door because I already ate before I arrived. Also parking is expensive since the museum doesn't offer any. Cheapest parking I found in the area was $10.
D
This is a great little museum, but get here EARLY !!! It's small enough that you can get through the entire thing in less than an hour and the $20 admission is pretty good - possibly a bit steep for what you get though. I recommend turning up early to avoid crowds. We got there at about 8:45am and were second in line to get in. By 9am there was about 10 people behind us (on a Sunday morning). The museum is small enough that a big crowd would make it less enjoyable. I particularly enjoyed the "Ragged Flag" exhibit, quite moving even though I'm not an American. There are quite a few items that you wouldn't be able to see anywhere else. A good gift shop too - I bought a few t-shirts etc... Only downsides are that the admission price is probably slightly too high for the size of the museum, but it's otherwise faultless - it presents the life of the Man in Black honestly and without too much fanfare.
P
Very cool museum dedicated to Johnny Cash. Lots of cool memorabilia and his life story. There is a lot to take in. Shows how profound his influence was on all genres of music.
Hi Perro, thank you for taking the time to share your experience!
j
Didn't have nearly what I thought it would. We paid almost the same price for this as the entire Country Music Hall of Fame Museum. This only took 20 minutes to see and left us asking each other, "That's It?" There's so much more to good life and career and that of June's that could have filled downstairs and up . What was there was great, but overall, a disappointment.
A
Nice museum to visit while in Nashville. Visitors get to learn a bit more about the man himself and maybe love his music a little. It is cozy and appealing to all ages. I really liked the layout and the small collection they have. Definitely worth a stop if you're into museums.
Hi Adriana, thank you for joining us!
M
Very informative if you're a Johnny Cash fan. They have alot of great pieces and videos to give you an inside look into his life. The price was a bit steep for a small museum but worth it!
J
Update 10/4/20 - Second trip to the museum. Not much changed, although I don't recall the signed Highwaymen guitar from the first time through. Really nice non-commerical feeling look into the man's life. Worth a visit for sure. A lot of very personal items, many with Cash's own handwritten labels. Some costumes/clothing. Nice chronology of his life in pictures by decade. Good videos. A little tight to move around. The first room is very narrow and jams up quite a bit. My favorite thing was a signed pic of The Million Dollar Quartet. If you don't know the history of that, go look it up. An incredible piece of rock/country history!
E
If you're a fan of johnny cash this is a must see. A little crowded but very interesting and informative
Thanks for your recommendation!
M
This is a must-see if you're in Nashville, even if you're not a huge Johnny Cash fan! It is a self led tour with lots to look at. This is also great if you're a fan of Elvis Presley and Sun Records. There are real artifacts here, and it's very impressive! 👍🎶
S
Amazing Johnny Cash museum! I had been to Graceland a few days earlier and can say this museum is much more interesting to me because the displays were on point about Mr. Cash’s music and life. We took our time and spent a couple of hours.
D
Reasonable admission as far as museums go. Great collection of Cash memorabilia: his gold records, guitars, clothes, history. Allow a couple hours for your visit.
Thank you for sharing your feedback! We are glad you enjoyed your visit.
s
I was nervous at first since it was crowded and the building is pretty narrow, but it turned out to be pretty easy to maneuver around the other visitors. Lots of neat things to see, including a certified copy of his birth certificate, his Bible, and the ring he got for his 70th birthday. The last room has a TV playing the 'Hurt' music video on loop, and there's a room toward the middle that plays 'Ragged Old Flag.' They also have a display about the 'Walk the Line' movie. It was a cool experience.
Thank you for sharing your experience, Sarah!
T
Great museum with tons of personal items. Give yourself enough time to look at everything, it's quite interesting. Also watch the movie inside about all his TV and movie appearances.
T
Lots of memorabilia. Didn't really think it was worth $25 each but at least we can say we did something touristy.
J
Absolutely amazing how much they were able to fit and keep organzied in the space available here. Arrive early, it gets packed very quickly. We got there when they opened and there wasn't a line, but we weren't the only ones there either. Really great, super educational place. Highly recommend.
D
Petty cool to see! Highly recommend, especially if you like Johnny Cash.
Thank you for your recommendation, Debbie!
D
Fun experience with lots of history and exhibits! Learned a lot and saw a lot of interesting items.
Hi David, thanks for sharing your experience! We are so glad that you enjoyed your visit with us.

So..... I'm really torn about this place. They have some genuinely amazing paraphernalia and objects once bringing to Cash. Lots of exhibits and the place does an amazing job at incorporating the audio/visual aspects of a museum. You could spend easily 2-3 hours in here if it wasn't for all the......people. And I mean people. This place is literally a conveyor belt of people looking at everything. It's difficult to take the time & read the displays, to appreciate the objects without being shoved, bumped, knocked into or just generally behind made to feel you're taking too long. The admission is expensive. It's $21.80 as of this post. Which, I don't have a problem with considering it's Cash. But it's the way the museum handles the crowds is what's distracting and unfortunate. I honestly feel as if the staff is pushing everyone into the museum as fast as they can to accommodate the incoming people. It takes away, in a big way, from the museum. If finances & revenue were the concern, well, they do have an overly priced Cafe and gift store they can fall back on. But the sheer amount of people shuttling in/out of this place, all I can say is....wow. I had HUGE expectations for the Cash Museum and honestly, they were met. But then they were dialed back a notch by the "cafeteria-style" lines. Sigh.....
M
I was not a die hard Cash fan but found it a good time. It was worth the visit. Should be able easily to make it through in about 45min. It does stay open till 7pm which helped for is. Love the guitar Johnny used for 10 years and sent the museum in the last couple of months before his passing.
J
Small museum, but has many items to view. Make sure you take your reading glasses! Lots of reading.
Thanks for joining us, John!
J
This is an amazing museum with everything related to Johnny Cash. You get to see and listen to all of his old records. They also have several viewing rooms to watch his older movies.
Hi Jeff, we appreciate your kind feedback!
K
Amazing collection, loved it, but removing a star because masks are not required and people are packed in there! If I get covid I know where I got it. There’s a global pandemic folks.
C
There is so much to read and see about Johnny. There were even marbles he played with as a child. The old photos, clothes and so much history!
E
While it was great to see The Johnny Cash Museum, it was a bit overpriced and under managed. While all of the antiquities were well presented there was no real flow to the exhibits. A larger space and managed direction would improve the experience and give greater value to the cost.
D
Cool Museum. The heat was on way too high. Everyone in our party was sweating their butts off. I walked out before I even got to see everything. it was way too hot. Wasn't impressed by the cafe. If they are going for the food in the prison smell or look they nailed it.
B
Oh if you love my boy then you’ll love this place. Very informative and detailed! It can be a bit crowded but it’s an amazing museum!
Thank you so much for your recommendation!
W
A well-curated and organized Johnny Cash tribute. There’re interactive displays, video rooms, and a plethora of Cash family artifacts. And tons of souvenirs at the end. Good ones, in fact.
Hi William, thanks for sharing your experience!
J
I just went in and hung out with friends. Barely anyone there at the time. Food was good. Live music was so loud we couldn't talk. Need to go back and experience it fully.
Thanks for joining us next door at Johnny Cash's Bar & BBQ!
L
Fairly small space, very crowded but worth it! Full of interesting facts and stories about Johnny Cash. Loved the theater where you can watch Johnny in movie and tv clips.
