What a horrible company. These guys are predatory lenders. I keep getting calls and e mails from them to refinance... I no longer own a home. I have told them to remove me from their contact list over 30 times in the last 2 years. So if you want to be harassed for the rest of your life, then go with these guys. You will be disappointed

I have told them over and over for the past year that I am at a 2.25% interest rate and they know they cannot beat it. But I get numerous phone calls day and night, sometimes 4 and 5 times a day. I've asked kindly for them to stop calling but the next day brings more calls. It is overkill. At this point I wouldn't want to do business with them because they don't have enough respect to just chill out.

Never use this company. After refinancing with them, they will RELENTLESSLY harass you via email and phone to refinance again. I’ve tried to ask politely and I’ve been rude. Nothing stops the calls. It’s not worth it. Go else where, literally anywhere else for your home refinancing.

Would give no stars. My family starting to refy our home and Ben Gutierrez was not honest with his mistakes. We felt we were being deceived after he charged us double for nearly everything we had already agreed on and had the nerve to talk down us. At that point we decided to not to go with but only until now we found out our credit was also checked twice bringing it down. Never again will we use Sovereign.

My experience was great! Everyone knew what they were doing and made it easy for me. All the documentation was sent via encrypted emails and by uploading directly to their secure server. The closing was done at my home, at my convenience. And even after the closing, when I had a question a couple of weeks later, they responded quickly and provided me with the information I needed. No stress, no problems. Easiest refinance I've done. A friend recommended them to me and I highly recommend Sovereign Lending Group to you.

I found the initial process very easy. The only area I would recommend refining would be the explanation of my last payment to my previous lender. I did not have a lapse in a monthly payment. The reasoning makes logical sense to me. However it should have been presented as such. Otherwise, everyone I spoke with on the phone and in person (appraiser & notary) was very professional. I would strongly recommend Sovereign Lending to anyone wanting to re finance.

Benita Lewis was instrumental in navigating two of our properties at the same time. As unforeseen challenges arose during the loan process and post closing, Benita did not hesitate to get involve and find a workable solution. My wife and I was able to reach her by telephone and emails throughout all phases of the loan process without failure, which was a great relief. Craig P was wonderful. I am a natural anxious person and I do not wait well for anything. I have high expectations of companies, if I am prompt to send in hundreds of documents then I expect the same promptness in return. Craig always called me back, or email, or texted letting me know he had received documents, saw my missed call and was working with another client at the time, he always called back or responded to me. I never felt like he got me in the door then abandoned me. Being that this is a smaller company the fear is real that things will go south. Other lenders tell you not to use smaller etc etc. Craig made those nerves disappear. He said exactly what happened. No surprises in the end and we have saved thousands a month doing this refinance on our home. Thank you so very much!

After receiving several different offers from different companies for refinancing my home, Sovereign lending group was not one of the most competitive. No harm, no foul, I went with someone else. I have been contacted by this company no fewer than a dozen times since, all by different people, asking if I’m still in the market for a refinance. After telling each of them no, and kindly asking that they take me off of their call list, I still receive calls from Sovereign even after being promised that I’d be taken off their call list. This most recent time, I asked to be transferred directly to a supervisor. I was told that they would contact me right away. That was 30 minutes ago. I’m still waiting. The staff have been courteous, but now I am wondering about the competency of the company as a whole. If you can’t do the simple thing of taking someone off of your contact list and out of your system, how can you handle the complex needs of a mortgage? Please stop contacting me. Thank you. Two weeks later: I would love to say that this issue was resolved, but in the last two weeks I have been contacted by Sovereign four additional times even after they responded to this review. It is unbelievable to me that this company has such a bad internal communication system and IT department that they cannot do something so simple as taking someone off of their call list. PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY FOR YOUR MORTGAGE. There are plenty of other companies out there that are competent and better with customer service. Literally go with anyone else other than Sovereign Lending Group.

Horrible. Do not use this company. They use high pressure tactics and will provide loan options that are a rip off. I tried to cancel several times. They should have given me the best rate that fit my needs.. Not one paying 11k in points or a cash out that would add thousands to my loan. I did get a refund for the appraisal. However, they kept 50 bucks for a credit report. The agent did not inform me of those chrages. He said the 500 was for the appraisal. When I complained; the manager said it was in the disclosures which I was rushed through over the phone and did not have time to read. They have an F with better business Bureau.

I was working with a mortgage lender to refinance two properties. Then a Sovereign agent contacted me and promised to offer a $4,000 bonus at closing if I work with them which I thought was an incentive. The loan was successfully closed. However, the manager denied the bonus. Not only that, I had to make an extra month of mortgage payment while I began a new loan refinancing process with Sovereign. Sovereign was efficient in getting the loan approved. The way they do business was disappointing and questionable.

I just recently REFI'd with Sovereign. This was a refinancing of a VA refinancing we done with Sovereign Lending Group, but the rates had dropped 0.5%. Nick Woods made this re-refinancing exceptionally easy. Had the a terrible experience refinancing with this company. Two employees gave me the wrong company name for who would be holding my new mortgage, as well as giving me the wrong date for when my first payment was due. This in turn caused my first payment to be late and I have acquired a late fee. When I reached out to them to ask for clarification on what happened, I was told it was a miscommunication. CLEARLY, but there was no offer from them to make it right. The communication was terrible. A month after closing I was still being asked to provide paperwork for the new lender that they should have asked for before signing the documents. This is my second refi and was by far the worst experience I have had.

On June 12th (which was my birthday) of this year I received a letter from Sovereign Lending Group about refinancing my current mortgage. I called the number on the letter and was put in touch with Benjamin Brewer. Mr. Brewer was extremely polite, courteous and professional and he explained in detail what my options were. I found him to be well informed as a loan originator and wanted to work with him. Throughout the entire process I felt comfortable and not pressured. I was able in just a few days to supply him all the necessary documentation that he needed to present to his underwriters. He has always returned my voicemails and emails promptly and kept me well informed of the status of my application.

I was very mislead by this company and my loan officer Javier. He assured me they had the best rates and fastest close for my refinance. After going into underwriting for my loan, I heard nothing for weeks. I closed with another company instead and after emailing and calling for weeks, I still have not received my refund for the appraisal deposit nor have they confirmed my request to cancel my loan application. Highly recommend another company for your refinance!

I continue to be harassed by this company after I have repeatedly told them to stop calling me. On 9/11/2021 alone I received 5 phone calls. Two of which was after I told them yet again to not call me. There is a non-licensed person calling to solicit business for the company. Do not give them your contact information as they do not care about you saying do not call them. I made a mistake of refinancing my home with them. They are incompetent and extremely rude.

I’m extremely frustrated with this company. I informed them on a Monday that I didn’t want to move forward with them at this time (I hadn’t talked to them before or started any loans with them, I’m working with my current lender and happy about it). I’ve received 10 missed calls in 48 hours. I finally called back today (while on vacation in Hawaii) and told the person who answered that I’m frustrated to still be receiving so many calls and was hung up on in the middle of my sentence. I would never work with this company after this experience no matter what they had to offer.There are so many other lenders out there who have called regarding my inquiries and have been very respectful and polite when I said we’d chosen another company.

Attempted to refinance back in April. I worked with Kellie Peterson who was communicative and thorough at the beginning then closer to closing she started to ignore my calls and emails. I learned after almost two months of working with her we didn’t qualify for our refi. She had us pay for an appraisal that cost us $750 without first making sure the numbers added up. I spoke to her manager and I expressed the lack of honesty and communication and was very bothered by the fact she kept sending me texts rather than having a conversation over the phone. He continued on and on how important it was to have the phone conversation versus texting and promised me to look into it and get our money back for the refinance. He requested I give him a few days to look into the matter and he would call me back. He never called me and when I called him he ignored my calls. (Funny how he pulled the same ignoring stunt she did) I had a very poor experience. It was stressful, unprofessional, misleading and unresponsive. We ended up refinancing with another company who got us the same rate Sovereign Lending promised and we had no issues closing. I’m not sure what happened but clearly the company couldn’t deliver.

Unsure where they got my number, but they would call at least once a day. I usually ignored the call, as so many scam and sales calls are routed through legit and non-legit caller ID numbers. I took a minute to answer the call this time, and it was as expected... a sales call to refinance. They don't even know where your number or data comes from, they just call. I answered a few questions, and they wanted to pull a "soft" credit report, but I've been told that story in the past, too, and it ends up on my reports. The sales person simply could not give me their current rates, and said it relied on my scores. It was a waste of time. I warned them not to call me again.

I worked with Farnoush Vahedi of Sovereign Lending .If I can give him minus start , I would. Farnoush is incompetent and a fraud. He does not know anything about loan process nor the basic initial steps. I am not sure how he has gotten his license to begin with.He lied to us on multiple occasion .He promised us a rate around 4% but went missing right after he sent us the pre-approval and our offer got accepted. I could not get a hold of him when we needed him the most to move the loan process forward. My agent could not contact him as all calls to him went unanswered, A week after he pretended to have been busy taking care of sick child as the reason for not answering the call but we found out he was partying during this time . He found out he did not even run the basic steps of credit check before giving preapproval and he did that way after our offer was approved. We almost lost the house and had to give back all the seller credit to get an extension and go with a different mortgage company. Worst yet, we found out that he has given our private and confidential information to third party loan sharks who kept on calling me and offered me hard money. I will be pursuing legal action against him to ensure he does not create more issues for other people.

They contacted my husband in July. After months of requesting the same paperwork, going through four different staff, they were able to finally close our mortgage November 10th. Since an overpayment was made, they told us we would receive our money back. Since then, we have contacted through MANY phone calls, messages, and emails and no one will respond. Please be careful using this company .... never again for us.

Worst experience we have ever had. They kept lying to us, telling us to not worry about making our house payment for the month because we would be done refinancing before month was over. Which about caused the VA not to even refinance for us. They kept telling us we were done and we even signed papers. For them to turn around and say they needed something else and we had to resign everything and wait fourth more days for everything to be finalized. Then on the fourth day we still did not receive our money transfer. After another day of waiting we received a email saying everything was completed and to wait another 48 hours for the wire transfer. Through out the almost two month ordeal we spoke with five different people, none were on the same page. One would say one thing for the other to say something different. I tried to reach out to management which was a joke. She informed me she would get the bottom of it and call me back by the following Monday. Never heard back from her till I called again the next day and ask for someone above her which never called back. She called then and said she just figured letting the same people I had ask not to speak to again , it would be better for them to contact me again. Proving once again they were full of lies. They don’t even deserve a star for this review.

Working with Benita Lewis (mortgage banker) and Kristin Hodge (loan processor) to refinance my house was a great experience. Benita was very patient with me. They both answered all my questions and responded in a timely manner most of the time. There was a week long pause due to an understandable miscommunication. Although it took me several months to commit, once I did the process took 40 days from the time I signed my first disclosure to when the previous loan was paid off. I felt I got a good rate and even got a little cash back, which was also delivered very quickly. My only complaint is with Sovereign's data/leads tracking system. Even though I had been working with Benita for a long time, I kept getting calls from other loan officers at Sovereign trying to get me to sign up with them. I even got a call two days after my loan closed and was paid off! Every time I let them know I was working with Benita and that they should make a note to stop calling me, and each time they claimed to have added it to the notes, but the calls kept coming. I mean, seriously. I came really close to canceling the whole thing because it was getting really obnoxious. Glad I didn't though. If you are looking to refinance and can put up with the obnoxious calls from their leads dept, go with Benita. It'll be worth your time.

This company keeps calling me relentlessly. I asked to be removed from the call list several times and “it takes up to 7 days to be removed”. When I questioned the associate “don’t you think it’s excessive to call me every few hours for a whole week when I’m not interested”, he responded yes, but could not get me to be removed from the auto dialed. On the next call, I asked to be put through to a loan officer (to file a complaint against someone with a nmls number). They put me on hold for 5 minutes, and then proceeded to tell me no one was available as they were extremely busy, but to hold on and he would get someone shortly. Avoid this company at all costs.

Jesse and Michael were always prompt with getting back to me when I called anything about the loan. They also did NOT let the process stall. I had apply to another company last September (2020) and Michael and Jesse, through Sovereign Lending Group, got me in front of closing papers first with fewer closing costs! I only applied to Sovereign in January 2021 due to frustration with the original loan company. I also compared closing costs with other lenders along the way and Sovereign is very competitive.

This past weekend, the company sent me a check that stated Customer Service. I’m not at all changing my review about this company! You’ve already admitted there was an error on your part. Now, you need to own up to it and make it right! The chaos that I was put through left me no other choice that your honesty, trust worthiness, and integrity as a company can not be trusted! This company was great. However, like most companies, there are bad seeds. The bad seed to this company is Steve Drye and Steve Barone! Horrible service and they don’t care in the end! Steve Drye’s error was caught by me on the 23rd hour when I was signing my documents. That costly mistake was over 15k in my out of pocket! Beware with your dealings with these two individuals! With the numerous reports of mortgage rates declining, I thought I would check into refinancing. I called Sovereign since they were partnered with my mortgage company. Within minutes, my Sovereign Lending Group representative, Russ Gilchrist, had found and discussed my options. On top of everything, the mortgage refi package was complete in just 10 days after my call. In less the 2 week, actually 12 days, I closed on my new mortgage. Would I recommend Sovereign Lending Group to others? Yes! I already have recommended them to my neighbors.

Had to give 5 stars to Sovereign Lending Group. Billie Shine, Lisa Ballard and Benjamin Brewer all worked together to help close my loan at an unbelievably low rate. I am very grateful for all their efforts and for helping me with this loan. I had been working with another lender that was taking forever. I switched to Sovereign Lending for a much lower interest rate and closed in about 6 weeks while the other lender just told me they are ready to set up closing (over 4 months after starting the process with them and after they said it would only take 30 days to close my loan). Suffice to say, I would definitely recommend Sovereign Lending Group!

We recently took bids to refinance our house and Sovereign Lending Group was one of the companies to contact us. A loan originator called us on a Thursday evening, took our info and called us next day (Friday) with their proposal. Told the originator we were compiling other bids and would let him know our decision when we made it. We received the other offers with lenders and chose a different lender . In the mean time, we received 4 calls from the Sovereign originator wanting to know our decision. After our decision was made, the Sovereign originator called us the following Monday and we informed him of our decision to go with another lender. He was gracious about this and wished us well. I thought that was the end of our dealing with Sovereign Lending Group. Three days later on Thursday we received a packet in the mail with loan documents from Sovereign Lending Group. Shockingly, also included in the packet were loan documents for another borrower in a different state! Included in this packet were all of his sensitive financial information that goes with purchasing a home: Social Security number, credit report, job history, credit card accounts, etc. This borrowers' loan number was 1 number after our loan number. So I immediately called the loan originator, he did not answer, and I left a message of what had happened and asked him to return my call. No call back. The next day, Friday, I called the loan originator again, left a more detailed message on his voice mail, and still no call back after 5 days. So there is a big problem here. First off, loan documents for a loan we did not ever accept should not be printed and sent. And including someone else's loan packet is highly irresponsible. There needs to be some control of what documents get sent and to whom. Mistakes do happen, but not receiving a call back after I called twice to ask Sovereign Lending Group what they wanted me to do with 2 sets of loan documents is not acceptable, especially after the number times the loan originator called during the "selling" process. So I am left with the impression that Sovereign Lending Group is very sloppy with their paperwork, and does not seem interested in returning calls when asked to. I finally shredded both sets of documents this morning. I would definately stay away from Sovereign Lending Group for any type of financial transaction. There are way too many other lenders out there that do a better job than Sovereign Lending Group.

Horrible. Do not use this company. They use high pressure tactics and will provide loan options that are a rip off. I tried to cancel several times. They should have given me the best rate that fit my needs.. Not one paying 11k in points or a cash out that would add thousands to my loan. I did get a refund for the appraisal. However, they kept 50 bucks for a credit report. The agent did not inform me of those chrages. He said the 500 was for the appraisal. When I complained; the manager said it was in the disclosures which I was rushed through over the phone and did not have time to read. They have an F with better business Bureau.

I’m extremely frustrated with this company. I informed them on a Monday that I didn’t want to move forward with them at this time (I hadn’t talked to them before or started any loans with them, I’m working with my current lender and happy about it). I’ve received 10 missed calls in 48 hours. I finally called back today (while on vacation in Hawaii) and told the person who answered that I’m frustrated to still be receiving so many calls and was hung up on in the middle of my sentence. I would never work with this company after this experience no matter what they had to offer.There are so many other lenders out there who have called regarding my inquiries and have been very respectful and polite when I said we’d chosen another company.

My experience with Sovereign Lending was excellent. I worked with Lexy Nguyen throughout the rate shopping process and then the application process. She explained the rates and took the time to fit the right loan for my situation. She was very informative of rates, costs and trade offs in the selection of a loan terms. She answered all my questions, explained the process and supported me throughout initial signing of electronic application and disclosure documents. She was easy to reach via phone and would check back with me to make sure the process was moving forward. After the application went to underwriting Lexy explained to me that Lisa Mareno would took over moving the documents through underwriting and arranging of the signing. Flawless hand off handled professionally! She communicated the need for a little more info via emails. Approval came within 3 weeks and a notary came out to do the signing. It could not be easier, great service and I received a great rate with minimal costs.

Don't you hate it when someone leaves you hanging in limbo? No follow-up after submitting all docs to lock rate. Delvin Davis didn't return repeated calls, emails i sent. But after I reached out to Sovereign, they immediately responded. Delvin Davis apologized for not getting back to me. We are in the process of closing the loan now, he has rate locked the best rate for me. We will be closing in 2+ weeks. He has made up for the lack of communication and has done all what he said. We had someone bring the paper work to sign who had no idea what they where doing or how to explain things. And no one explained any number changes at all after the first time we talked so at the end surprise there all wrong. Then I email them saying I think something is wrong and the response of "how much did you get...that's weird" and nothing else. just over all not really happy about how things ended.

I gotta say I’m surprised with how bad the service is with this company. I read the reviews here before doing business with them and from what I read they seemed legit. I have an 800+ credit score, excellent employment and only looking to refinance 360k on a home that’s worth 700k. Seems like a very easy transaction to me but not with Sovereign. The loan officer, Dakota Parrish, was great when we started the process. However, soon after we started he suddenly disappeared. Wouldn’t return my call or texts. I also tried calling their main number to speak to someone in processing but again, no call back. If you have great credit I would steer clear of this place. Seems like they must specialize in C - subprime by the way they treat clients. My guess is they just try to shove as many loans as possible into processing and hope they stick. I wish I would have read a review like the one I’m leaving before I got started with these guys. It would have saved me a few hours of my time. No biggie though. I’ll just head over to Union Bank or Chase.
