    Security First Credit Union Reviews

This credit union is presently involved in what I consider a form of financial elder abuse. In this case, it has created an IRA with our deceased father’s funds that my mother inherited, now also deceased. The thing is, this unauthorized transaction was taken 16 months after his funds had been deposited in my mother’s account. My mother was never informed and given the opportunity to designate beneficiaries when the credit union created an IRA in her name. This now means the family cannot inherit the funds without going to court. The Los Angeles Times published a column 12/21/21 called “Sorry Your Dad’s Dead. Mind If We Hold on to his Money? It made me realize financial institutions must be taking advantage of the difficult stage of life when our parents are at their weakest.

BANKER BEWARE!!! FIND YOURSELF A REAL BANK! Let's face it not all of us have the best credit. Mine is well over the 600 mark. However these people encouraged me to not only stay with them but they also encouraged me to apply for a loan "Because right now I have seen people with a credit score as low as 500 get approved." Verbatim. Twice I applied for a loan. Twice they ran my credit. Twice I NEVER got a response from them. Twice I had to call them back. No one could give me an answer. The first time I was told that it was because the bank was over loaded from all the rain and that they would call me back The second time I was told that I would receive a call back. Never happened. The lady over the phone made me feel like my loan wad not that important. THEN WHY DID YOU RUN MY CREDIT? Worst bank ever. I'm going to also put this review on the other review for the other branch. DO NOT STOP AT THIS BANK. GO TO THE NEXT ONE. IT'S NOT WORTH IT. In the end, when I closed my account, I still ended up owing them money because they allowed a charge to go through. Even though I had it set up for charges to not be allowed. Shame on you!

I work at a competitor Bank's Online support and troubleshooting department. Recently my in laws (Wife's Parents) had an issue logging into their Online profile and utilizing Online services with Security First. Bankers at their locations claim issue is with their computer or not properly follow steps, I proceeded to follow process prior to branch visit and had received a ERROR 404 INTERNAL SERVER ISSUE. Which in my experience over the years in this field know for a fact a error from banks server. When advised banker of this chuckled as if we were wrong. After no assistance at branch and more then 8 calls to Customer Service finally acknowledging was their issue and waiting 3 days for it to be resolved. Futher proof of my claim. My Suggestion is to seek a other bank as any other is better then Security First!!!!

Very poor customer service dispute process is ridiculous and very inconvenient. Their services are outdated like no ATMs deposits cash or check. Also their online app is very outdated as well. Would recommend another bank with higher standards in customer satisfaction and disputes/false charges on a account.

I was approved online for an account with no problems, I went into this branch to complete the process and was treated like a dog on the street, the woman saw that I was black and looked at me as if I was not of this earth. She took my proof of residency into her office for over an hour then sent out a mass email telling them to not open an account for me. I am in the process of filing a discrimination lawsuit. Hope her job was worth it.

Been a customer for over 10 years. All of a sudden you go in and now they've changed their policies, without ever being notified. I'm super upset, I made sure to voice my concerns. So now they are exactly like corporate banks when at one time they prided themselves from being different due to customers being members.

If I could give it 0 stars I would. But I'll give one because at least the general manager was a bit of a help. I don't have a personal account but my parents do. They're a little older and have an online accout. They don't understand technology and do not know english very well so I help them out at times. They were having an issue applying online for the BTS loan(something that was the bank's issue) so we went to this location for help. The first banker we spoke to had the WORSE attitude. I had never seen anyone working for a bank treat clients so horrible. My parents obviously did not understand what he was saying because he kept answering them in English. He was short and rude and obviously did not care for their concerns or try to be of any help. It wasn't until I demanded to speak to someone who knew spanish and called him out for being rude that we were transferred to another banker. I don't want to think he was discriminating because looked Hispanic himself. If he did NOT know the language he could've easily tried to be attentive or send someone else. BUT NO, he had an arrogant attitude. The second banker was a lot nicer, but was not able to fix the issue. Finally the general manager spoke to us and got it resolved. Although it took A LOT of time explaining since they're online system is horrible and everything is mixed up. This isn't the first issue my parents have had. If I could I would write pages and pages with all the headaches they've given them. They don't give out correct information, everyone is pretty much useless in the locations and in the phone customer service, and they manipulate info to make it seem like it is the customers fault. My parents basically stick around because of the BTS loan perk every August, but are strongly considering closing down their accounts after 10 years of being with you. By the way my father is still trying to resolve his issue with the phone customer service, because again he was misinformed by the location's banker, but won't bother going back. You all need to get it together or you'll end up loosing more customers.

WARNING!! This bank is bad news! I was charged $1,234.00 for something I did not authorize, when I contacted the branch manager she treated me like a criminal, they will not protect your money if something goes wrong you will be held FULLY responsible. Their customer service is terrible I HIGHLY Suggest that you find a REAL bank.

Have sent several loan payments to be applied as PRINCIPAL ONLY PAYMENTS and they continually apply them as payments that are not even due yet. This is ridiculous! And, no one is ever able to correct it for us.
