These guys run a well respected pawn shop. They are stern and strict with newer customers. I think a lot of bad reviewers out there don’t understand the business they are in and what they have to deal with on a daily basis which is why they have a certain demeanor for newer customer until they can understand that you aren’t a shady person. They have given me excellent customer service within reason. They are a small shop and have been extremely busy at times. Very knowledgeable staff on everything in the store. I have and will continue recommending this store to friends and family.

The guys at Penguin are very knowledgeable about what they sell. Prices are fair and they take the time to answer any questions. The only place I go for Pawn and Guns!

These guys are great! As. A senior citizen some months I forget to run by to pay the interest on something I have pawned! They hold onto it a few extra days to give me time to get in there, because I have been going there for so long and they remember me! Years ago I lost something that was very precious to me because of this in another pawnshop and I will always be grateful for these guys and their friendliness and compassion at there business! They don’t make you feel bad because you are in a certain situation!

I have been visiting Penguin Pawn since 2009 and return regularly between military deployments to say hello and see what they have new. I have purchased guns, jewelry, tools, silver, musical instruments, knives, and electronics from the wonderful folks there. I even sold some of my stuff to them. Whether buying or selling, they gave me an honest price. In addition, because they do their best to sell quality products, all of my purchases worked without issues and were genuine as described. I recommend to my friends to visit Penguin Pawn before buying from a big box retail store and to visit often as they rotate stock regularly. I read 1 or 2 star reviews left by others and understand how they can be frustrated. Stores do close early occasionally and cannot carry everything to satisfy all customers. However, there are a lot of 5 star ratings so that really helps to define how the majority of people feel about Penguin Pawn.

Unfortunate experience. Came here cause of the great reviews but the guy running the store was straight up rude and literally threw my credit card back at me when I bought a couple of .410 shotshells. Was planning to buy a sporting shotgun here for clays eventually, but I think I'll pass and find somewhere else.

Penguin Pawn personnel have been personable and professional in every dealing I have had with them. They go the extra mile to insure customer satisfaction. Aside from their pawn business, they have an outstanding retail selection in jewelry and firearms.

By far the best experience you can ask for from a pawn shop. I went in never have bought a ring before and Big Joe was super knowledgeable and helped me through the whole process and found the perfect ring for my girlfriend. I will definitely be back!!

I love the guys here, especially the one with glasses who always does something fun with his hair and beard. I currently have items im making payments on to get back in my possession. They have been wonderful about working with me on payments so I don't lose my items. I would diffinitly recommend this pawn shop over others. I've been to other ones and the people are rude. The way these guys work with me and conversate with me make me feel like they actual care to some degree about me as a person and not just my money. Good job guys, penguin rocks!

The employees are top notch very knowledgeable, and treat all with respect. Never condescending. And you get the most money for your pawn from Penguin Pawn than ANY other shop in the Metro area. They also have the best prices on tools, Guns, and Jewelry. Kansas City Metro Top Pick !!

I have a very small business creating crafts and buying vintage flea market items to re-purpose and sell. Every so often, I need to pawn a piece of jewelry for extra cash. I don't use charge cards(too easy to go overboard), so to sustain my crafting, on occasion, I take out a loan, pay it back with any small profits. The guys are so pleasant and helpful. I knew nothing about pawn shops when I first visited the shop. Big Joe helped me understand how the process works. I have been very happy as a customer. The shop is full of useful things to buy. Penguins decorate the shelves, jewelry, tools, critters hanging on the walls, electronics, guitars, and firearms. The shop feels like a well aged, comfy place to shop, sell, and take out a loan, sometimes visit a bit A five star rating from me.

Staff is extremely knowledgeable and by far, the friendliest I've ever dealt with in a pawn shop. They've offered fair amounts when I've pawned and priced items fairly when I've been a buyer. They have a large selection of firearms and again (unlike some local shops) they are both friendly and knowledgeable when discussing firearms. They are the first pawn shop I've dealt with that actually wants you to get your pawned item/items back. The first item I pawned with them was something I really wanted to keep. Over 3 months later, I realized that I was late (at least a week after they could have sold it) picking it up. I called expecting it to be gone, but they had held it and I was able to pick it up without a problem.

I went in looking for something very specific. First time ever being in a pawn store and super intimidated. They searched for my friends old clarinet that she brought in a few months ago and ended up finding it. They gave me a really great deal and were super helpful and understanding throughout the whole thing. I HIGHLY recommend them if you want an easy, friendly, and comfortable visit.

Great prices on firearms, I spend most of my time scouting out the internet and other local shops for the lowest prices on firearms, Penguin Pawn always has the best local prices for the everyday normal person on new and used firearms. On top of their fair prices, I’ve never been disappointed with the conversations I’ve had while in the shop. Really friendly and always eager to lend advice. In my opinion, they also carry quality new firearms. If you are looking for ammo, this is also the spot for you. The are always having sales and you can get the most affordable ammo you’ll be able to find anywhere. Like them on Facebook and you’ll see “gun of the week” they have each week at a crazy low price. I normally don’t leave reviews but the Penguin Pawn team is top notch. Keep it up guys.

Great People, Great prices, Great Selection. It won't take long to feel like Family when you go in. Not the typical Pawn Shop attitudes, in the least! You won't feel pressured at all. If they don't have it, you will probably get suggestions on where you might find it. BEST in TOWN !!!

I stopped in here to pawn my iPad Pro in a pinch when I needed to buy the only pair of Apple AirPod pro from the Sprint store; these guys were not only open late; but they were SO polite; all of them-and they truly made the experience of pawning my favorite electronic a pleasurable one; and are ALWAYS smiling and ready to pass that smile on. These boys take it back to the basics: as my guy said-all pawn shops operate by the same rules and laws... but what makes them stand out is their customer service. The pawn shops in Olathe where I live just all have an attitude; none of them are nearly as humble and amazingly adept at making it a pleasure to go into their store. I would recommend this store to ANYONE; not only looking for a pawn shop-but anyone looking for jewelry repair; guns and gun accessories; and jewelry. These boys are killin it. I won’t go anywhere else, now. I’ll go to these boys now and forever on!

Purchased a firearm from this shop a couple days ago, incredibly knowledgeable and friendly staff all around; excellent prices and inventory. This will be my #1 stop for all gun related purchases from now on, couldn't recommend them enough.
