PenFed Credit Union Irving St, Washington

I have been a member of PenFed Credit Union for over 33 years. PenFed has always treated me like family. From my first Permanent Party Duty Station to my current status in Washington DC, they have handled all my financial needs! The next chapter of my life will be my best and PenFed will play a big part in that!

I can’t in good faith recommend this credit union for any mortgage whether it’s a refinance or first time home loan. My wife and I have had nothing but issue after issue with them. We finally refinanced with a different lender and I’m still waiting for our escrow check even after the legally required 30 day timeframe. There’s plenty of good lenders out there. Save yourself the headache and look elsewhere. Edit 11/19: Reduced to 1-star. PenFed responded to this review, I submitted my contact information and haven’t heard anything back. I don’t believe they actually follow up. This is public facing so they pretend like they care. I still haven’t received my escrow check.

They locked me out of online banking after a hacking attempt on my account but never notified me. Have tried for a week by phone to get it unlocked and it is still blocked. Unacceptable.

Penfed Credit Union, is my choice for financial institutions. For me it is convenient, friendly and great Services. The rates are great also. Everytime I have needed them they are there for us.

We have an equity loan with PenFed and hadn't encountered significant issues in the past. However, when we recently started to make extra payments toward the principal using their online portal it has been a disaster. We submitted an extra payment that was withdrawn from our bank account but never applied toward the balance of the loan. I have made several calls to get this corrected but keep getting told it is "in the que" to be completed. Why in the world would it take two weeks to correct something like this??? They already have the funds in hand! Meanwhile, we are sitting around waiting for them so that we can pay it off completely but can't because the loan does not reflect the true balance! Very disappointing experience, would never recommend for mortgage lending!

Per my multiple ways of trying unsuccessfully to update my account email and phone number. I want PENTAGON FEDERAL CREDIT UNION immediately to cancel any continuation on this matter. I feel discrimination from the bank personnel failing to review my evidence including my Army Captain Rank O-3. I attached to this letter the confirmation number (03260627) in which you guys receive and confirm my DOD ID card, Social Security Card, Water bill receipt, DFAS My Pay Letter, VA Pay Letter, and finally, Social Security pays letter. Every time I call there is always an excuse that they are not been able to review and can't do anything for me. I am in a Joint account with my mom on the same bank with my Social Security number, email, etc. In the end, my account can't be updated. I encourage my fellow soldiers and or veterans to consider USAA and Navy Federal Credit Union has a live representative 24 hours. Very Respectfully, CPT AV Angel Hernandez.
