Fast customer service and responsive. I had some money going missing due to an error with the ATM. However they were quick to offer my money back (which I didn’t notice so I missed completely my fault.) and I have had no issue with the ATM taking my money since the last complaint. It looks they listened to me even though I didn’t respond. If I did respond I’m sure they absolutely would have taken care of it.

I had a pleasure of working with Pete Stewart. They gave us the best rate and completed the loan as expected. Communication is excellent. Had a great experience with NBKC and Trevor Campbell, or loan officer. Found a link for them through one of the major real estate listing websites and tried them out. Trevor took the time to explain everything to me and their rate could not be beat. I checked with several other lenders and no one could touch the rate. Their website makes it convenient for uploading documents and e-signing when permitted. We successfully closed without any issues.

My experience with the National Bank of Kansas City was exceptional. While I thought the best way to deal with a mortgage company was face-to-face, I was definitely proven wrong. The VA loan I received was the best rate of the severral companies I contacted and the closing costs were comparable. The closing of my loan was on time despite numerous setbacks by the seller. All of my questions and concerns were handled promptly and correctly. Jeff Barnett of the National Bank of Kansas City was extremely competent, courteous and responsive. If he didn't answer my calls immediately, he returned them within 30 minutes consistently. I would highly recommend him to anyone. I have purchased six homes in the past and this mortgage company was the best I have used.

Mike W. and the team at NBKC Bank did a nice job on our refinance, but there were some details that could have been handled better. The rate and price were good, but this was not a great experience because there is not a single bank out there that has yet figured out how to make this whole process easier and more understandable for the consumer. If the industry were more transparent, and expected fees were published by location and type of residence, that would have made me feel better. I had to refer to prior closing documents to feel like I was not being taken advantage of, and even then, there was some question about some of the fees. I was given a credit, but it came from Costco, so I am glad that I used them to find NBKC for the refinance.

Our process took us through the office of Jeff Palmer. Working through Jeff was such a pleasure. I initially spoke to him a year prior to refinancing our home and at the time the numbers just weren't right for us. I started working with Dave of National Bank of Kansas City after my realtor recommended him to me. I was very impressed with his timeliness of response and his ability to work with me. I was deployed when I started looking and within a very short amount of time I knew what I could afford. He was very quick with a response to any questions I had and always knew the answers. When it came time to purchase the home and close he was able to meet my requested closing date which was almost a week before what we had originally planned. His ability to make this happen quickly and more importantly correctly was by far the most impressive thing. We had a great experience working with NKBC bank and Justin Birk, our loan officer, on our refinance. We went through the Costco program and everything was very simple. Justin was great about responding to any questions we had promptly and keeping us informed throughout the process.

I worked with several other banks before I found the National Bank of Kansas City. They had the best rate and the best terms by far. My loan guy Herb was great through out the entire process. Although it got sticky at the end during the final two days with papers going in all directions, I was glad I could count on Herb to talk to me and calm me down. Herb is a very reassuring presence. This is the 3rd home we’ve bought in the past decade and we’ve never had a partner like Mike before. He was candid, positive, informative, and patient during the whole process. He set great expectations on the timing, potential hurdles, and unveiled many of the tricks and gimmicks used by others in the industry. I couldn’t tell you how many times he took my call in the middle of the day to just explain some arcane part of the process or help me feel comfortable about where we were. Even when a home feel through (due to an issue with the appraisal), Mike was right there picking up the pieces and talking next steps. We got a fabulous rate and Mike was always proactive about what we needed and what was next. He was just as excited as we closed as we were. We initially chose to use our builder's preferred lender when we built our new home. After more than two months past our initial close date and that lender not being able to get our financing to go through, we went to Lending Tree to see if we could find our own lender. We had abnormal loan requirements, and weren't sure if we could get qualified because we were looking for a VA loan with a non-spouse co-applicant on the loan as well as some other tight restrictions. Every place I called simply said they couldn't do it because the VA will not allow a non-spouse co-applicant. Then Jason from National Bank of Kansas City called, YAY... he initially told me the same thing, but then remembered that they had smaller bank they worked with that would be able to do this loan. When he called back, we were ecstatic when he said he could get us pre-approved. He locked us in at a great rate and started the application process. In less than 45 days, we closed and Jason was able to save us a little over 1.25% on the interest rate and more than $6000 in closing costs from the original "preferred" lender we started with. Jason is by far the best person I've ever worked with in a loan situation. He was honest and upfront about everything involved in the loan and didn't try to beat around the bush with us, like some of those other companies out there just trying to get your business, even if they aren't sure if they can get you the loan. He saved us about $80,000 over the life of the loan, and we didn't even have to come to close with any money, in fact, we got a check from the builder for $585! Thank you so much Jason for saving us so much, and our sales agent thanks you for saving his butt with the builder. We are finally in the house that we wanted so badly and were afraid we were not going to get, thanks to you and your efforts! We will be using National Bank of Kansas City for our next mortgage, and our builder will be referring any VA loans to you as well, Jason. You guys are the best!

The service we have received in each case has been excellent. Our Loan rep. was Amy Stuhr-Patterson and she was outstanding. The process is very stream lined and efficient. On our last house, the seller's rep. really dropped the ball on a few important documents and Amy was proactive and I believe the only reason we closed on time was due to her diligence. I have recommended Amy to a couple of friends and family members. If we ever buy another house I would use National Bank of Kansas City again as they have great service as well as competitive rates and lenders cash.

My loan consultant was Tim Lander. He worked very hard to get my loan approved and home closed much sooner than anticipated. My papers were ready to close in merely 15 days. The primary reason I chose NBKS was their extremely high rating on Zillow by 1500+ people, and I must admit they truly deserve it. Great services at low prices. Completed paper work way sooner than actual closing; educated me at each step during the application/loan process; very flexible: guided me and let me choose my own title company and insurance company. Very smooth and enjoyable process.

This is second home I've purchased through Bank of Kansas. Bernie Klamus has been my broker through both sales. He is awesome! Communication flowed freely and he was fast with responses to both me and the closing agency. They mentioned him at closing saying what a great service he provided.

This bank is just disorganized and potentially dishonest. They closed an account without telling me, and I have offered my PC for inspection as well as gmail accounts for inspection regarding their supposed communication. Next I lost a debit card and went through their 3rd party process to resolve, but here we are and of course there was a miscommunication ,because...OF COURSE there was a miscommunication with NBKC bank, and I was supposed to call NBKC to order a new card, meanwhile here I am with all the charges associated with the card failing, two weeks later! I called, of course they have to now order the card. I cannot cannot cannot wait to be free of this company.

Initial experience was great and my loan officer was very responsive. However, once I decided to go with NBKC I didn't receive updates on the progress of my loan nor did I receive very timely responses to my questions. The initial interactions were great (which is why I chose NBKC) and the closing was quick and efficient (the notary came to my home). It was the middle part of the process that should be refined. It would be great to get periodic updates of how the loan is progressing and any emails should be responded to quickly (same day or at least by next day).

I strongly believe that peoples’ experience with the bank will be based solely on the interaction with whatever person they deal with. Our guy was super nice but was a little too Midwesterner for our type-A, East Coast personalities. He was also very personable, patient and very calm which was nice when everyone else we were dealing with were stressed out. Additionally, he was always willing to get on the phone and explain things to us which was very often because we were first time home buyers. However, his email exchanges were extremely concise, lacked detail and rarely answered all of our questions if we had more than one in an email. He also never copied both of us on an email so we were constantly forwarding important emails to one another. We found National Bank of Kansas City because we were in a crunch to find a mortgage lender because our Realtor was hounding us to go with her friend, a mortgage broker ( who we got pre-approved with) or we would be in default. The situation with the broker didn't smell right to us and noticed the mortgage broker had a 2.5% origination fee for himself and then had the audacity to tell us not to worry about it since he is giving us credit to take care of all the fees but of course this would increase our interest rate. Needless to say, we backed out and needed to find a mortgage lender in a couple of days to meet the finance contingency. National Bank of Kansas City was recommended to us by a friend and we noticed the NBoKC had the lowest interest rate on Zillow so we went with them. NBoKC was able to give us enough credits to take care of closing, and all other fees attached to buying a home. However, the bank didn’t take into account the sellers credit that we negotiated for. We agreed to raise the home’s price by $4k to get $4k in credit. In the end, the bank had to use all their credit first which covered almost everything but only used $2k of the sellers credit. They should have adjusted their credits to take into account our sellers’ credit. This meant that we agreed to raise the home’s value for a credit that we only used half of. I don’t know of any other businesses that could lose $2k of the customers money and are not held responsible for and only offered an apology!!! This left a bad taste in our mouth and is the reason why the rating is so low. Otherwise, they were able to offer us a decent rate even though the APR was a bit above national average.

Gathered, processed, and kept me informed while applying and closing on a home loan. Very helpful and would use them again for any other home loans. Highly reccomment them to anyone looking for competent, friendly, and very helpful bank.

Ryan Little made my experience very easy. He even set us up with an insurance provider (who was also able to get us a lower car insurance rate) and he set us up with the title company. We bought our home from the buyer directly (no realtor involved), so the process would have been very stressful, as we are first-time homebuyers. However, Ryan made this very easy for us, educating us about the process and being easily accessible when we had questions. He went into detail about which loan option would be the best for us and helped us decide on the best option. He got us a good rate and was able to help us meet our closing date, even though the situation was complicated. Overall, very good experience. We will be using them in the future for other loans and would definitely recommend to anyone seeking a home loan.

These people are rude, unhelpful and made me feel stupid. I had opened up a new account and used their mobile deposit service thinking that it would be like any other bank and I would receive my funds the next business day. They put my funds on hold for over a week and when I questioned them they said there was nothing they could do and that I should have read their fine print more carefully. In addition, I never received my checks or debit card which had been “processed” over a month ago and was never notified of any efforts on their part to try to rectify the situation. If I could give a 0 star rating I would because this is the worst bank I have ever worked with. Don’t bank here unless you feel like being taken for a ride and wasting your time.

I was a first time homebuyer when I first used NBOKC, they helped guide me through the process of buying a new home, and did such a great job that I have used them to refinance my loan 3 times as the rates rates got better. Not my first home loan. Worst experience ever! I was misled and then when you call to find out what is going on, low and behold the boss is on Vacation. They act nice until you question them. I would never use this bank and wouldn't even tell someone I didn't like to use them. I saved all the emails so I have proof to back up my words. The nasty emails Seth sent right before closing were so beyond unprofessional I asked him not to contact me unless it was absolutely necessary to close the loan. Even after the closing documents were signed, when there was a problem he was rude and passed me off instead of finding out what was going on, At least the people I spoke with at the bank were kind and resolved the matter in a timely manner. I can't stress enough that I would not recommend them! Seth often called after 5pm est and then complained how he worked after hours on my loan.
