I became a member of NFCU back in 2013 when I was living in MD. Being back in this area Colonial Heights is the branch I visit the most & I have never had a problem there. The workers are very friendly & assist with all my needs. I am greeted when I enter & thanked for my membership when I leave. A great small branch & great customer service.

NavyFederal CU has been one of the best bank's I've ever dealt with. Their staff at the location in Colonial Heights has been nothing short of outstanding in assisting me with any issue's and dealings that I've had. I have had nothing but issue after issue with Wells Fargo and hate them. They destroyed everything Wachovia was and are doing nothing but driving customers away. In my attempts to find a better bank, one of the banks I opened an account at was NFCU and from the beginning, they were nice, courteous and helpful. Not only did I refinance my 2 car loans with them but I also needed a personal loan that only took about 35 minutes from start to finish to apply for and be squared away. I have also happily opened a credit card with them. I plan to refinance my mortgage soon with NFCU.

It's ok if your going through the line. Evening is super busy, but I've found when I go in at 9 or 10 am, the lady at the reception desk has an, i-don't-feel-like-dealing-with-you, attitude. Very unprofessional. I think her name was Gilit? She couldn't seem to figure out why my card wasn't working and kept making me try the atm. after I told her that any atm I try, it says card unreadable. I used it in a drive thru and it wouldn't read. She said it's cause of the chip and it's not supposed to be swiped. I've had no problem with swiping it until last week, as some places do not have a chip reader yet. But anything I told her, I was wrong. The 1-877 # I called told me it was unregistered. Ms Gilit responded, "nope. I see active but I'll just get you a new card". This was also a brand new card not even a month old. She was super friendly when I left though.

I wouldn’t even give a star right now, today july 26th, 2019 we had the worst experience with navy federal union ever. My boyfriends accounts were frozen over something he explained to them and talked to customer service and was told what he need to bring and he brought a insurance paper with his name on it and his fathers address because he recently moved with another family member and because we didn’t gave bill in their address she refused to take it and when we said we have a dmv paper with the new address she still refused to take and continued to tell us that he wasn’t him even with two of his IDs one military and another government issued and still refused to help us. This woman’s name is Linda Beverage she continued to be snippy and rude with us and refused to help us in any way. We asked is he would bring in a w-2 with the new address and she said no because he was not him and she wouldn’t take it. No one matter what she refused to help us at all to the point i had to leave the room because of how she was acting and the rudeness she was giving to us. And when we proceed to ask about if we canceled his account and went to a different bank would he still gets his money back and she told us no they wouldn’t give us his 900$ dollars he had saved in his account. and this is ridiculous because we brought what we were told to bring in by customer service we even asked if his sergeant could come in to prove who he is and she told us no because an army sergeant was a fake and fraud. She just continued for the whole hour fighting with us and being nasty and rude with how she said everything and i didn’t like that she had an attitude with us and thought she could get over on us and lie because we haven’t had much life experience but we have family members who know that law and told us what she did. and we are very upset with the turn out of dealing with her.

Today, I was in a situation. I was having issues with a company who was attempting UNAUTHORIZED debits on my Navy Federal Account. I'm bias about this because as a former Bank Teller during my college years, I come from the perspective of having been apart of a financial institution with 4 years of banking experience. Everyone at this branch in Colonial Heights, VA, are simply AWESOME. When you enter the bank you are ALWAYS greeted with a smile and EVERY TELLER adresses you by your LAST NAME or MILITARY RANK (I come from an era where that was the RULE). But, today, I was Blessed to get Mrs. Karen Sheffield. This "Lady" presented herself as such, with her smile, professionalism, and a thorough knowledge of the business of banking. She was so patient and sympathetic to my dilemma. We worked for about 45 minutes to simply get a letter I had written to the main office on January 6th, 2018, regarding my concerns and assistance with confronting this business about unauthorized debits to my account. WOULD I RECOMMEND THE: COLONIAL HEIGHTS BRANCH OF NAVY FEDERAL CREDIT UNION YOU BET YOUR COMBAT BOOTS, I WOULD!! And, if you are fortunate enough to speak with Ms. Karen Sheffield, tell her Lisa says HELLO & THANKS AGAIN!!

I went here once before to deposit my check. Some black chick [did not know her] ran up to the girl behind the 1st counter at the door and said something about me. Which made the nice and friendly lady become rude. It was my FIRST time there and I don't have a lot of black friends for this reason. I haven't been back in to CH branch since. I drive 55 mins to the one in Richmond where they actually care. Once my husband deposited his check and a lady messed it up. She didn't process it correctly and we had to call the local branch via CSR. The CSR was nice but I mean wow... I can't believe that it took that long to fix.

This is definitely a military UNFRIENDLY credit union. If you make a mobile deposit and do not use the credit union's acronym, they will DENY your deposit. I spelled out the NFCU on the back of my check and it was denied deposit. Not to mention it takes one business day for all funds to be available in your account. I've only been banking with them for a little over 5 months, and is been drama. The reps at Fayetteville NC are rude and services are horrible. Long wait lines during the busiest time of the month with only 2 tellers open. You can't increase your daily limit ATM withdrawal, not even for a one time emergency. I'm going back to USAA!
