As a a man who has never balanced his checkbook, I was lost when it came to helping my parents navigate the details of their estate. My parents were so focused on wanting to have money to pass on to their children, grandchildren, and great children that they weren't enjoying their lives as fully as we would have liked. While their retirement financial picture is certainly adequate, we all wished for them to have that "abundant life" that is promised in John 10:10. And the reverse mortgage seemed to be a way to finance that kind of living. While we had heard of reverse mortgages and done some Google searches, we generally knew nothing about any of the details about how they worked.
