I am a government employee who handles real estate transactions for a large agency and have extensive experience in dealing with institutional lenders. As a civil servant, I am also a union member. A few years ago, shortly after the financial crash when real estate prices were beginning to come out of their depression, I refinanced my home with Mid-Island Mortgage Corp. thorough their Union Direct program. I found their staff to be highly competent, professional and polite. In fact, one of their staff members even pointed out to me that the then appraised value of my home was actually lower than the value on my homeowner's policy and real estate tax assessment. She recommended that I contest both. I followed her advice and was refunded over $3,200.00 and had my property tax assessment substantially reduced. Recently, I decided to refinance my mortgage to take advantage of the lower rates and also to cash out for extensive home improvements. I shopped around and ultimately ended up refinancing with Mid-Island. No other lender could match their terms. My Mid-Island Representative, who I call "Mortgage Dave", worked tirelessly on my loan for favorable terms and an expedited closing to insure that the interest rates would not go up. This company was recommended by my union UUP, and I never regretted choosing them for my mortgage needs. My experience with their people was superb since the initial contact with vice President Shawn Dwyer , to estimate provision by Kelsi McGlone, and loan processing and closing by Mary Lou Clifford. All these people were very attentive to my needs, very responsive, and their team effort allowed closing my loan in 20 business days after my commitment. The provided loan terms were highly competitive, communication very professional (without all that aggressive sales pitch by other companies like Rocket Mortgage). I have been given quick and professional answers to all my questions. No false promises, and what they promised they always completed both regarding terms/numbers and within promised time period. I did a mortgage shopping with 6 companies and Mid-Island offered both best terms and best service experience: therefore 5 STAR rating for them. I will return with my future mortgage needs and also would recommend the company to my friends and coworkers at the State University of New York.

Being a member of NYSUT is what directed me to this company, but the service I received will make me come back. I initially worked with Shawn and Kelsi who directed and instructed me on the entire process of a re-finance. Shawn and his team explained everything and guided me through the process.
