My wife and I have been members of LMCU for over 25 years. In the first years of our membership, LMCU was an institution that was pleasant to deal with, and had branches staffed with knowledgeable and caring workers. Over the years, they have just grown too big. This rapid growth in an environment of low unemployment has resulted in a company filled with low paid, inexperienced staff of which many just do not care. Because of this inexperience and knowledge level, even simple issues necessitate these newbies call “corporate” for advice and guidance on what to do. Simple matters often take an enormous amount of time and are never followed by any acknowledgement of remorse for wasting the customer’s time. Issues often require several visits to get resolved. Also, there are now lots of rules and regulations blindly followed by the newbies that makes dealing with them on even basic subjects challenging, time consuming, and extremely frustrating. We have an impeccable history with them, credit scores over 800, and high net worth, yet we are treated no different than an 18 year old fast food worker. The unfortunate thing is that LMCU has, like so many other companies, forgot that success ultimately begins and ends with the customer. If you are thinking of opening an account with a Credit Union, there are many great alternatives to this place. Please take our advice and look elsewhere.

Credit unions such as Lake Michigan Credit Union, which is Michigan's 2nd largest, and the 43rd largest in the United States (by assets), differ from banks and other financial institutions in that those who have accounts in the credit union are its members and owners, and they elect their board of directors in a one-person-one-vote system regardless of their amount invested. Credit unions see themselves as different from mainstream banks, with a mission to be "community-oriented" and "serve people, not profit" Lake Michigan Credit Union offers many of the same financial services as banks, but often using a different terminology. Common services include savings accounts, checking accounts, credit cards, certificates of deposit, and online banking. Normally, only a member of a credit union may deposit or borrow money. Surveys of customers at banks and credit unions have consistently shown a significantly higher customer satisfaction rate with the quality of service at credit unions such as Lake Michigan Credit Union. Members of credit unions have historically insisted that they receive superior member service and that credit unions are committed to helping members improve their financial situation. And in the context of financial inclusion, credit unions claim to provide a broader range of loan and savings products at a much cheaper cost to their members than do most banking institutions. For many years, in another state, my late wife and I banked exclusively at the 34th largest credit union in the nation (by assets) and were entirely pleased, more than any bank we'd used in the same city in the southwestern United States.

Wish this location would update their atms to no envelope deposit like other locations.

Fairly friendly service. Not my first choice of LMCU to go to as pulling out of it is a pain.

The tellers at this branch are insufferably slow. I stopped there this afternoon to make a cash deposit, with a half hour to spare. I waited and waited...and waited!! At one point, a teller and customer were discussing church and one was giving an invitation and directions. Another teller was engaged in conversation with an obvious family friend, talking about Thanksgiving and sharing holiday pictures. Finally, I had to get out of line and leave without getting my business accomplished. Friendliness to customers is paramount! However, personal/non-business-related conversations should be taboo!!!!

Ordered my debit card almost three weeks ago. Still nothing. Got bills to pay, mouths to feed, requirements to meet, cant do any of that without the card you’re supposed to send me. Terrible. Shouldnt not be this difficult.

Always the best service any time I go to this location. Every simple need or question I have are always answered with information about each situation. Also Nicole the branch manager is extremely helpful.
